11:00 pm
our thoughts and prayers are with the trump family. "the ingraham angle" is up next. have a gentle weekend. >> laura: i am laura ingraham andd this is the "angle" from washington. what did democrats have to show for it all. a closer race? a pollster will tell us the real number it. in his first national interview since the blm extremists threatened him. the minneapolis police chief responds and delivers an important message about joe biden. and he is watching the "the ingraham angle." raymond arroyo explains in seen and unseen.
11:01 pm
first biden stiffs the working class. that's the focus of tonight's "angle." the democrats were supposed to have their convention inle milwaukee in person to ensure key midwest voters that democrats are the party of blue collar party. but we got instead a virtual snooze fest. >> thank you. >> [applauding]. >> i can't wait to see her debate our current vice-president. is it pence? >> it's pronounced pons. >> why did my girlfriend like you more than she likes me? >> because he is smarter than you. >> [laughing].
11:02 pm
>> hey, everyone. i am joe biden. that's the kind of first lady, lady, lady that jill biden will be. >> laura: even if the democrats had assembled in washington and it went smoothly. w it's clear that democrats had zero to offer midwest voters. even barack obama could not come up with a reason to vote for joe. >> democracy was never meant to be transactional. it requires an active and informed citizenry. i am also asking you to believe in your own ability, to embrace your own responsibility as citizens. to make sure that the basic tenets of our democracy endure. that's what is at stake right now. our democracy. >> laura: didn't that remind you of a bad college lecture. we heard the same stuff we have
11:03 pm
heard on and off for decades. the bar was set so low for biden, he could have read the back of a cereal box and people would be he really hit the mark. he failed to present clear, hspecific policies for the majr challenges facing him. we deserve to know who his economic policy would look like, how he would stand up to china and what he will do implement the virus. remember when nancy pelosi told us we have to vote for obamacare to find out what is in it. the biden team is applying that
11:04 pm
logic to their entire campaign. the democratic national convention painted a depressing portrait of america. you got the sense they are all just mortified to live in a country they regard as racist, but that was not extreme enough for the radicals in control of the democrats agenda. >> it was lacking on the substance that the young folks who have been in the streets all summer need to see from joe biden. >> laura: who are these young folk in the streets? >> being politically correct is probably not going to get it done. we have to turn the system upside down. >> communities from boston and portland and everywhere in between are rising up to demand accountability and divestment from broken systems. >> we are talking about real abolishonists to abolish the people.
11:05 pm
>> laura: a lot of things they are abolishing there. i did travel to theli midwest. i was in minneapolis and saw firsthand the devastation of the democrat supported riots. >> this was our version of a baby. being here now all of the emotions comes back. all of the sadness and anger flows back through. >> my husband was asleep. i said you need to wake up now. it's going to burn down any minute. we sat there and we watched it melt to the ground with all of our hard work.k. >> laura: it's devastating. biden won't fix the kind of seen you just saw. if they are elected what we will be doing is rewarding what the rioters did.
11:06 pm
while the big banks are pouring money into the biden campaign, they are know doing that because they want to see all of you get higher wages. no way! they see biden as their ticket to the days of out-scouring. sending jobs overseas. they want globalization because those were the good old days. but not to you. the primary reason trump ran for office was to fight for american workers especially in the factory towns across middle america, and he delivered. he forced canada and mexico to revise nafta to make it harder to siphon american jobs. he saved the american steel industry. and stood up against china against the objections of every lobbyist in d.c. he enforced immigration laws and rolled back obama regulations
11:07 pm
and fought the deep state to limit our involvement in unnecessary wars in the middle east and appointed supreme court justices. b in the face of unprecedented pressure he resisted locking i down the entire country during covid because he wanted to make sure average americans would not suffer needless economic harm. every one of those measures, hated by the washington swamp, but every one of them brought practical benefits to american families. for the trump administration middle america is never fly over country. no one at the white house is making fun ever americans for clinging to their guns and religion. no one believes that the american experiment was a racist failure or we should apologize to the rest of the world. absolutely not.
11:08 pm
as someone who lived in washington since the 1980s, i can assure you that the focus of trump, the american worker, is very rare. we really do have an establishment in washington. but it's not trump's establishment. it's an establishment full of elitists and they look down on you in the middle of the country. their policies are tailored for the world, not for the midwest. >> our proud reputation around the world diminished. >> we were respected around the world rallying allies for climatee change. >> joe understands that none of the issues of this world can be resolved without bringing nations together.
11:09 pm
>> laura: really? when did they bring all of the nations together except to sellout the american workers? the voters in the midwest have the best chance ever to change how the government views middle america in a permanent way. a second trump administration will create a new order in washington. if biden wins, well, he will reward coastal elites at your rexpense. when the factories call their media lackeys will say it's your own fault. >> when someone says we are the forgotten people. people of color go, what the hell are you talking about? you have had every privilege. >> white men have had the platform and privilege. we are told we deserved and earned it. >> laura: don't let happen what
11:10 pm
they want to happen to this country. we are a greatey nation. and we deserve a government that believes in our system and our people. so this fall, don't worry about trump. he will still be a billonaire with a great family. worry about yourselves and your children and communities. if you vote for yourselves, you can save america for all of us. that's the "angle." the democrats spent the week making no secret of who they were trying to appeal to. >> we are unleashing the power of women to take our rightful place in our nation. >> joe biden knows a stronger america is one that works for women. >> women will decide this election. we will replace donald trump with a president who respects. >> black women are the backbone of this party. >> laura: did it work is this joining me is the co-chair of
11:11 pm
women for trump. also with me is cynthia author of a choose victory. are you jumping ship to biden after hearing all of that emotion and the personal narratives and the cliches? >> no, i am from san francisco but grew up in north carolina. the division in america at the dnc bears no relation of f where they want our country to be. it was celebrities and a bleak picture of america. soccer moms are looking at what the democrats have to offer. getting rid of bail and thee police and getting rid of border control. i don't think most american will go for that. i don't think they can identify with kamala harris and how she got to power.
11:12 pm
they made a lot of mistakes. they could have brought women from the heartland who spoke from the heart. they blew that opportunity with the politics of division. >> laura: msnbc tried to pick up on the theme that was running through the democratic national convention all week saying it was a moment to be proud because girls of color can now havee something to look up to. i assume they looked up to barack obama. this is how they portrayed it. watch. >> there have been so many powerful moments through this convention.. many of them created by women. >> i don't think we can overstate how significant a moment it is for girls and women and people of color from the united states and around f e world.
11:13 pm
>> were there any white men who spoke tonight? >> no. >> i don't think i have ever seen that. it was mostly women of color. >> laura: chris cuomo is going i better shut up here. what about the symbolism? that's being celebrated. >> well, look, god loves symbolism. however, i raised the youngg women in my life and mentor thousands of young women around the world through my organization. i love young women and girls. i love to see them walk in the power of their identity. i love to see them think. the problem is that a symbol of something doesn't mean anything. who i am looking at? at? am i looking what do they stand for? anybody in that party, it offends me the way god and color around.n it's a lie.
11:14 pm
nothing about god aligns in my mind with the values that party stands for. it's so hypocritical. >> laura: yes. let may hop in here, cynthia. you come from the sikh tradition. there is a connection among all the great faiths in the world. you would think they would not go out of their way to remove under god from caucus meeting pledges. they didn't do it for the main show because they want to appeal to middle america. pre-show meeting we monitored, it was all one nation, indivisible.t it was so obvious referring to what cynthia said. god was not present. it was secular and gender bending. >> you're absolutely right. people around the world, people of faith will tell you they are a person who believes in god first and then country and then
11:15 pm
party. that's how i feel. i can't identify with a party and most people of faith can't where one of their religious tenets is killing children in the womb. that's something that kamala harris has stood for to the point of prosecuting my client david who exposed the fetal trafficking practices of planned parenthood. there is no room for a different viewpoint. it's all a dogma and agenda. no choices. no shades of gray. it's black-and-white and it's ugly. >> laura: you vote for joe biden or you are an awful racist, period. we will check back with you next week during the rnc. the media declared the dnc a success.
11:16 pm
back in june biden held a 9.5 lead over trump. one month ago down to 8.6%. now it's 7.4. conventions give candidates a sizable polling bump, but it's not happening yet. in minnesota the polls are tied. this state hasn't been won bye a gop ticket in 48 years. biden and trump are in a tie in pennsylvania where biden led by double digits last month. why is this happening? here to tell us trump 2020 campaigner. you work for the trump campaign. you want a glass half full approach. after this convention, are you concerned since biden was able to read a speech off a teleprompter for 20 minutes that he will get a bump because of the low bar that was set?
11:17 pm
>> we are definitely concerned that the media was gushing over him last night and all day today, that he was able to read the teleprompter and they set the bar so low for him. how could he not do well? the reality is, the week started off great for the president ind that cnn of all people had a poll where we were tied in the battleground states. rasmussen had a poll where we were within 4 nationally. the battleground states were all close. the media will pull out all stops to say this convention is the biggest value contrast going into our convention that celebrates america while they were running down america. >> laura: a list of potential
11:18 pm
biden picks. susan rice and elizabeth warren. pete buttigieg as u.n. ambassador. karen bass. and garcetti after he ruins california. does this have any effect in voter sentiment how moderate the biden campaign will be? >> they are not moderate. kamala harris is a san francisco liberal. 15% of the voters don't expect biden to serve out the term. this cabinet with kamala harris tells you the radical lefts that taken control of joe biden and
11:19 pm
they are running the show. in contrast to the president visiting the battleground states. it's a sharp contrast that america is about to see in an election that donald trump has to win. >> laura: i think the president needs to show more than maga country strength. he needs to show heart. it's unusual. i think there is some of those moments that would be reassuring especially to women voters that he doesn't just have the right policies, but that he cares. i hope we see some of that and surprise people next week. coming up, joe biden wants to be the covid candidate. what is his record handling past pandemics? we did some digging and found

11:25 pm
>> joe biden has good plans. covid-19 was trump's biggest test. he failed miserably. >> covid hit us much harder than it had to. our choice is joe biden. >> joe biden is the president we need. >> joe will bring us together to end this pandemic. >> laura: you hear that? with the snap of his fingers joe biden will end this pandemic. he has a plan. the historical record suggests otherwise. in 2009 the obama administration was confronted with an outbreak of the h1n1 flu. biden fought a pandemic before and it did not go smoothly. there were fights over funding and contradictory messages from biden himself. >> we did everything wrong.
11:26 pm
60 million americans got h1n1 in that period of time it. >> laura: oh my god. joining me is alex, a former "new york times" reporter and an author about unreported truths about covid-19 and lock downs and also phil. covid was the co-running mate with biden all weeklong at the convention. what would biden do differently if he were at the helm today? >> well, i am not sure what he would do differently.. there is one thing clear in the last 5 months, that the governors had the power here.
11:27 pm
surprisingly more than the president. the governors decided whether or not to lock down. m the governors and school authorities have power over school reopenings. unless donald trump declared martial law there were limits to what he could do. in terms of joe biden's desire to lock down the country again, there have been hints in that direction and a lot of democratic establishment called for that, it's not clear that lockdowns would do any good. lockdowns devastate the economy. states that locked do you know whether or not they were hit hard by the pandemic have tomorrow unemployment rates. and texas, even though they had a spike, have done much better deconomically. i have no idea what joe biden thinks he would do. it's a case of i am from the government and i am here to
11:28 pm
help. >> laura: he said one thing: a national mask mandate. all of these people advising, they were all heralding europe's lockdown for longer strategy, which seems to have back fired given all the new cases in europe. >> yes, taking off in spain. >> laura: and 26,000 new cases in europe. the school issue iss huge for or viewers on "the ingraham angle." and democrats pulled a trick. they pretended they are the ones who really, really want to reopen schools. >> you don't know if your child's school is going to
11:29 pm
reopen this fall. >> parents are stuck. no idea when schools can safely reopen and fewer child care options. >> we will make sure our schools have the resources they need to be open, safe and effective. >> laura: we were screaming laughing. thoughts? >> well, this has been an almost purely partisan issue for months now with republicans led by president trump and the science and the facts saying children should be in school and the democrats led by the teacher's union making demands why they can't be and they need to defund charter schools and the police. for democrats, to turn around and say it's the republican's fault. i wish we could have in you school is a brazen act of deception. they have clearly been the major impediment to children being in
11:30 pm
school. every time a fake study comes out like the latest one from mass general with children up to 22, they pushed the headlines everywhere about silent spreaders and hype every crazy anti-school argument and then turn around and say it's bret's fault the schools are closed. >> laura: it's so infuriating to parents. they have seen through the headlines on a lot of this stuff. alex, another thing i noticed happening, you wrote about this in your book, any hint of good news or the virus might be trailing off in texas and arizona, any bit of that is discounted by the media. the cdc came out and saidd we
11:31 pm
could have 10 to 20% of the country already infected. cnn brought out their medical experts to shoot that down. >> not clear how he is getting that number. it's not clear what that means. antibodies might fade so you could get infected a second time. so i am not clear it's a reason to be happy. >> laura: we could never reach herd immunity anywhere in the country?ha >> when cases were up in texas, arizona and florida, that's all you heard. you heard how a few isolated hospitals were having problems with icu's. that was reported over and over again. 5 hospitals in houston and on the texas border. now that the sun-belt managed its spike, in arizona, icu, covid-19 hospitalizations are one quarter as high as 6 weeks
11:32 pm
ago. you don't hear that anywhere else except fox. it's terrible the game the medie is playing. covid is something we should be report on and make sure the hospitals are ready. when the news is not bad, that should be reported too. >> laura: well, it didn't work for the political outcome most of them want. they have to push the panic porn morning and night. the biggest revelation from biden's speech was not policy related, but he is a fan of a certain segment of the "the ingraham angle." raymond arroyo is here next and he will explain. ♪ it's starting to happen every day. people are surprising themselves the moment realize they can du more with less asthma.
