shannon: a fox news alert. a second night in chaos in kenosha, wisconsin. hundreds of protesters torching cars, shooting fireworks at officers and outrage continues to mount over the police shooting of jacob blake. a live report on the unwavering unrest. >> republicans want to the forefront of the 2020 racetrack and optimistic tone on night one of the rnc. there pitch for donald trump as the best choice for america's future. >> we seek a nation that rises
1:01 am
together, not falls apart in anarchy and anger. >> millions of families seeking to leave the american dream. according to the republican ticket, the best chance of making that dream a reality. >> buckle up and let's go. you are watching "fox and friends first" on tuesday morning. jillian: thank you for starting your day with us. the biggest names in the republican party making the case for donald trump, the first night of the rnc. todd: in washington dc the major moments. >> reporter: quite a contrast from last week, the rnc kicking off with in person delegates
1:02 am
although trimmed down to six per state, the room was filled. as someone who was in that room in charlotte, the president thanked the delegates for the nomination, the place went wild. >> i want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. your incredible warriors with think it'll strength. this is the most important election in the history of our country. our country -- >> reporter: the president's son made the case for his father highlighting the administration's strongest issue, the economy. >> trump's policy has been like rocket fuel to the economy especially the middle class. biden promised to take that money back out of your pocket and keep it in the swamp. that makes sense considering joe biden is the loch ness monster of the swamp. >> the first night lineup included a number of gop stars
1:03 am
like former us ambassador to the un nikki haley. >> last time it was obama. this time it would be nancy pelosi, sanders and the squad. their vision for america is socialism. joe biden and the socialist left would be a disaster for our economy. >> south carolina senator tim scott raising the issue of race, joe biden's record versus his actions. >> joe biden said if a black man didn't vote for him he wasn't truly black. his words are one thing, his actions take it to a whole new level. look at what he already did and what he didn't do in washington for 47 years.
1:04 am
>> reporter: meanwhile the democratic nominee taking a page from the trump playbook punching back in real-time going on a tweet storm, the only person responsible for the failed covid-19 response is donald trump, he is doing the grass video and another one saying it didn't have to be this bad. coming up tonight, we will hear from the first lady milania trump, from mike pompeo, a first for sitting secretary of state to address the rnc convention and more members of the trump family come his daughter tiffany and florida attorney general pam bondi. todd: night one of the rnc countering the democratic message. jillian: the americans for liberty, democratic strategists, thank you for being here, appreciate it. what was your take away?
1:05 am
>> it set a low bar, the republicans showed up prepared to start this election. the dnc focus on portraying biden as a nice guy. the rnc did not focus on donald trump last night. they focused on issues most important to voters. what is this country going to look like? they had great speakers, everyone brought something unique to the table but there's a common thread throughout thosees, a stark contrast of two different visions for the country, one is a country where you have the freedom to work at a job you love and provide for your family, live in a great community and be proud of your country, the other is a country where political correctness is prioritized over safety and security, cops are being defunded and our history is being torn down. i thought tim scott was the star of the night.
1:06 am
he mentioned george floyd, breanna taylor and covid-19 and said our country will get through these hard times by embracing the american journey, not socialism and empowering bureaucrats in dc. jillian: what was your big take away? >> if night were a blues album it would be venom and rage, venom directed at the democrats and rage, undercurrent of anger. i read the previews, saw donald trump talking about this being uplifting but i didn't see that. i saw a lot of anger and a lot of denying, you wouldn't know we were in a pandemic, 30 million people unemployed, to look at this lineup. it wasn't just it was darkness. it was the american carnage donald trump talked about in his inauguration speech, radical socialism. if you're a suburban woman was a
1:07 am
swing voter, told they were going to move people in that didn't look like you into apartments. it was all fire and print stone, not a lot of other than that. todd: is that fear justified based on what we are seeing in our democrat run cities with democrats not saying anything about it at their convention? >> i think you would like it to be about that but if you look at the polling and what americans care about, they care about their health, the pandemic, they care about getting back to work, they care about making sure america gives them a job keeps a roof on their heads, not a lot of that talks about last night. i don't think americans by this idea that cities are being pillaged and burning. it is an exaggeration and doesn't plug up the heartstrings
1:08 am
of where swing voters who voted for donald trump in 2016, taking a long look at joe biden are at. shannon: i don't know if that is fair to say but to follow up. we've seen crime rate statistics in major cities across the country that have increased tremendously over the course of the last year especially the less humans, we see what is happening in wisconsin, those videos of vehicles being burned to a crisp. look at your screen. this isn't stuff that is being made up. this is happening in our cities. >> my fellow panelist may not think the descriptions of cities literally burning are exaggerated, in portland or wisconsin or chicago, if her business were being burned to the ground by angry mobs last night was not about donald trump or joe biden, this election is
1:09 am
about two vastly different paths for this country. we need to celebrate america, what makes this country truly great, our values, our nation's history, the democrats want to plunge our nation into socialism. we are going to see more -- >> again, fear. >> got to leave it there. way to get us off to a hot and heavy start. appreciate your time and we are just getting started. jillian: let's talk about this fox news alert. overnight hundreds of angry protesters were sitting buildings and cars on fire as you see right here clashing with police for the second straight night. >> this unrest following a police shooting of a black man. jackie ibanez joins us as national guard tries to curb the violence. >> reporter: demonstrators break a citywide curfew and storm the courthouse, check it out.
1:10 am
>> be careful. be careful. >> reporter: protesters launching fireworks, throwing water bottles at officers, fires burning across the city including the wisconsin department of corrections building. a furniture store completely engulfed. garbage truck also torched near the courthouse. police and national guard firing tear gas to break up the crowd. the latest plastic of unrest after video surfaced of police shooting jacob blake as he was getting into his car. blake's family cities in stable condition and says, quote, it is a miracle he is alive. officers say he had a knife but witnesses said they did not see one. >> when i was reporting, looking at the same time i didn't see a knife. i was looking at his hands when he said drop the knife. i didn't see one. >> at a news conference surrounded by protesters the attorney general wouldn't come into flick was armed. the mayor says there may not be a lot of video of the incident.
1:11 am
>> we don't have body count at this time. the body cameras, it is an issue with them. >> the shooting sparking protests across the nation overnight including new york city, san diego, chicago and minneapolis. the curfew will remain in effect until 7:00 this morning central time. no word of another curfew will be put in place tonight. >> another major story we are following. today tropical storm laura expected to strengthen into a major hurricane when it approaches the coast of texas and louisiana. >> the threat living in the gulf as marco weakens into a tropical depression after making landfall in the mississippi river.
1:12 am
todd: a powerful lightning strike hitting panama beach, marco causing flooding in florida. >> residents getting last minute supplies before laura makes landfall. dana steen joins us live, she has been tracking its every move. >> good news, marco is weakening, justin depression, area of low pressure bringing a little rain away from the center of the storm across portions of mississippi and alabama. this is laura, the real deal, this could become a major hurricane in the next 24-48 hours affecting texas and louisiana. we will get a new track at 5:00 am and bring you the latest, 110 miles per hour, close to a category 3, that will be a major hurricane, that is why we have hurricane watch is in effect from galveston towards morgan city, louisiana, louisiana will take a 1-2 punch from two tropical systems in a matter of
1:13 am
a couple days. there is your future radar, potential for heavy rain, storm surge is going to be an issue. this will be a big storm. a major storm that will affect texas, louisiana wednesday into thursday. we will be watching laura, probably our first major hurricane of the season as we get the system into the gulf of mexico. back to you, keep you up-to-date. >> a lot more when the 5 am update comes in, thank you. shannon: explosive protests in wisconsin over the police shooting of a black man. >> darren porcher says riding will not solve anything. he joined us next. they have businesses to grow customers to care for lives to get home to they use stamps.com print discounted postage for any letter any package any time right from your computer

second night as rioters set cars and buildings on fire attacking police and defining curfew. heather: national guard moving in after the officer involved shooting of jacob blake. doctor porcher, pleasure to have you. the investigation is ongoing. what key facts stand out to you? >> we need to reflect on a teachable moment that happened with the death of george floyd. riot behavior does not put us in a better place. the things we know in connection with the facts, we have an individual that was shot in one thing stated by the police is a consistent command of drop the knife. a knife is not been recovered that an active investigation is moving forward. therefore we need cooler heads to remain calm until we get the outcome as to what happened. once again riotous behavior will never take us to a positive
1:18 am
place. jillian: this reads the video currently circulating does not capture all the intricacies of a highly dynamic is set in, withhold from passing judgment until all facts are known and released. it is important to know there's an investigation going on and until we get all of the fact and see if other video comes out, be careful about that but that being said we are seeing is protests, fires being set to buildings, to cars, same thing we've seen in other cities across the country especially after the death of george floyd. my question is how do we get to a place where we can have these investigations go on, have accountability if and when necessary without destroying all of our cities? >> this is a time we need our elected officials to so the
1:19 am
seeds of call. the governor has put out inflammatory statements that in many cases has propelled these rioters to commit actss of anarchy. we need to let calm her heads prevail. this is an unfortunate situation, the wheels of justice need to act accordingly. when we look what happened with george floyd be clearly saw the officers were arrested and charged as a result. it is result of looking at what happened with george floyd. we need to apply the same standard to this particular case and what is necessary is society moving forward in a progressive manner. we are losing billions of dollars in connection with these riots and is doing us no good. we are clearly experiencing recession as a result. therefore this is the time for us to gain the momentum of going in the right direction as opposed to going in the wrong direction as we see happening in
1:20 am
wisconsin. >> a pleasure having you wondering these tough moments in our lives that we are seeing day in and day out. thank you. still ahead, the arms couple that protect their home from protesters take center stage at the republican convention. >> not a single person in the out-of-control mob you sign our house was charged with a crime. but you know who was? we were. >> there warning to families of democrats win in november. we are coming back after this. . as you get older,

did the right thing and ripped up the iran nuclear deal. he is tough on china and took on isis and won. with his leadership we did what barack obama and joe biden refused to do and stood against our enemies. >> nikki haley giving a resulting endorsement of the president's foreign-policy and offering sharp criticism of his predecessor so what should voters keep in mind about donald trump's stand on the world stage and how does joe biden stack up? here to weigh in his dan hoffman. ..are the american people save her under the foreign policy of donald trump or the foreign-policy of joe biden? >> that is the question voters will be asking and when it comes to iran if you look at the failed jcp away agreement which democrats did not support, the
1:25 am
reason it never became a treaty is because senators like chuck schumer did not support that deal, we are seeing some consensusbuilding but it was the right move to pull out of that deal especially after this historic agreement between israel and the uae to normalize relations was for us is another corner in the trump administration as maximum pressure against iran. shannon: here is mike pompeo on the deal. >> hopeful that we will see other arab nations joining this, the opportunity to recognize the state of israel and work alongside not only the increased middle east stability but improve the lives of people in their own countries as well. todd: washing every american care about what mike pompeo is doing? >> he overseas a dramatic full

court press, that is important for us to remember. the politics of the united states is fine during the convention, he has been in israel meeting with the british foreign secretary, foreign minister and is on his way to bahrain and sudan, building a diplomatic coalition against iran, that is a seismic shift in the middle east, makes us safer in the united states, iran has sought outreach with china and russia, from the position of economic sanctions their economy is in freefall but they remain a grave threat, enriching uranium, triple their stockpile of enriched uranium, practicing nuclear brinkmanship and the region recognizes they are a threat and we have a peace deal,

historic triumph for this administration. >> wish we had more time to go over china and north korea and russia but we will have to have you back. a lot more on the world stage to get to. we appreciate it as always. shannon: it is 26 after the hour. democrats grill the postmaster general during attends hearing on capitol hill. >> how can one person screw this up in just a few weeks? >> i'm concerned about your understanding of this agency. >> i'm not engaged in sanitizing the election. >> democrats are pushing the baseless conspiracy, he joins us live.

of violence in kenosha, wisconsin following the shooting of a black man, jason blake was in stable condition. >> riders break a citywide curfew overnight. the purpose of corrections building and furniture store completely engulfed in flames. the governor deploying the national guard to curb the violence. the curfew will remain in effect until 7 am central time. in a stark contrast from the democratic national convention delegates allowed on the floor to listen to donald trump and mike pence speak at the rnc. >> griff jenkins spoke to the vice president exclusively before he took the stage and joins us now. what did you guys discuss. >> it was remarkable access. we think the president promoting is get that behind-the-scenes look, talking about the contrast between last week which was a referendum on donald from to this week which the vice president says is a choice. >> when you compare the message of what is coming this week to
1:32 am
what we saw in delaware last week how to see a different? >> the choice in this election is clear. the american people will see a great contrast. donald trump said we are not going to shut this economy down again and joe biden actually talking about shutting down our country again shows how out of step he is with the progress we have all made is a country. >> reporter: joe biden said democracy is on the ballot, donald trump and i believe the economy is on the ballot, the future of this country is on the ballot, law and order is on the ballot. we will take the kids to the american people. >> what will be the message of the administration about how we get the situation in the street under control? >> from the first day of this administration we have stood with the men and women of law enforcement and always will. the violence that has ensued in
1:33 am
cities across the nation is unacceptable and joe biden in his acceptance speech spoke not a word about violence is astonishing. >> have you considered running in 2024 for president? >> all my focus is on getting this president-elect for four more years. this is not just the most important election of our lifetime. it is one of the most important elections in the life of this nation. >> the question about 2024, you didn't rule it out. >> reporter: who knows where we will be in four years, the vice president also taking head on about shutting the country down if elected. quite an interview. we will hear from the vice president tomorrow from baltimore, we expect him to talk about what happened on the ground in charlotte. we do live in fort mchenry tomorrow.
1:34 am
>> it is 2020 but after the speech, senator scott yesterday and nikki haley you have to be thinking those three, pens in the running for 2024 but we have four years. postmaster general lewis de joy shooting down speculation his 7000 election, democrats pushing mail in voting. >> the postal service is fully capable and committed to delivering the nation's ballot securely and on time. this sacred duty is my number one priority. >> 80 million mail in ballots they are working on, will not be possible to tabulate, they will blame it on the post office.
1:35 am
>> congressman james comeour says concerns are manufactured distractions, he joins us. why do you call the manufactured distractions? >> the postmaster general just debunked everything the democrats have been saying for the last week, the postal service can handle the ballots, the postal service has the capacity, the postal service has plenty of money to operate for the next 11 months so all the claims democrats made that the postal service is trying to slowdown the mail, the postal service cannot handle the increased volume were totally debunked by the postmaster general yesterday. >> listens what nancy pelosi has to say. >> we take an oath to protect and defend the constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic and sadly the domestic enemy, our voting system and honoring the constitution are at 1600 pennsylvania avenue.
1:36 am
jillian: is that fair? >> it is not fair. very unfortunate the speaker would say something that bad. domestic enemies, she is way off base. i hope the american people are watching. we do not need to continue to vote to keep nancy pelosi speaker of the house. this whole majority spent their entire two years as majority in doing nothing, their focus on trying to destroy the president. they have no agenda, no vision for the future, their whole policy, their whole organization is held together by their of session with their hatred towards the president. >> democrats are pushing vote by mail this year but so far at least in the primaries it is not gone well. look at these numbers. over 558,000 mail in ballots rejected during the presidential primaries which we know not a
1:37 am
lot of people turn out to the primaries, compare that to the general election four years ago, 318,000. if the rest of the nation votes by mail in the upcoming federal election will you trust the results? >> that the problem. it is not the postal service, the problem is the mail in ballots. we support absentee ballots where registered voters request a ballot, what democrats want to do is universal voting where democrat states mail out ballots to everyone, we all know they are wrong, a lot of names that shouldn't be there. people who have passed away or moved or changed names. we have a problem in america with the voting rolls, democrats have been trying to spin this that the problem is with the postal service.
1:38 am
in new york with chairwoman maloney's race it took 6 weeks to count the ballot and they throughout 12,000 ballots, she only won by a little over 1000 ballots. we have a problem with ballots. jillian: let's talk about this, second amendment rights taking center stage, st. louis couple we've spoken about at length, they had their guns outside their home when there were protesters in their neighborhood back in june, what did you think of this? >> they did a great job. a great issue and the contrast between the parties, the republican party stands for the second amendment and the republican party believes people like that should be able to defend their private property, their family with guns where is democrats want to abolish guns, they don't think any law-abiding american should be able to protect their home and i think
1:39 am
that is going to be a huge issue this fall and i hope the american people are paying attention. todd: we appreciate your time this morning. thank you so much. tropical storm laura expected to become a hurricane as it heads to the gulf coast. todd: marco weakens to a tropical depression. >> reporter: we are coming from lakefront to train, one of the most vulnerable parts of the city. on our normal day you could have the top 2 or 3 steps bone dry, that is not the case today. the water is starting to turn thanks to lara and the remnants of marco but in southwest louisiana we are looking at that could take the brunt of the storm as the track is going west of here. it could hit as a category too
1:40 am
late tomorrow, early on thursday. here is the governor. >> unlike marco, laura is a very large storm, very powerful storm so this is an entirely different experience and we need to take every precaution and take it seriously. >> reporter: laura has killed 11 people in haiti and the dominican republic and is expected to churn through the gulf of mexico gaining steam, gaining power, gaining strength as it could possibly make landfall in southwest louisiana possibly as far west as houston, two to four feet of storm surge will be a problem because they already have the pumps going, 99 pumps, four massive generators but that might not be enough to keep the city dry. back to you. >> democrats divided.
1:44 am
jillian: mike pompeo on his way to sudan following talks in israel during his middle east tour to prevent the push for diplomacy between israel and arab states following the historic peace deal. todd: he urges the international community to put pressure on iran. >> reporter: us secretary of state mike pompeo will arrive in sudan as part of a multi-country tour. he is scheduled to land in a few minutes.
1:45 am
the strip part of a multi-country trip that will include the rain to promote the peace deal forced between israel and the uae. pompeo and sudan will discuss the possibility of normalizing ties with israel ahead of the us elections in november. the us secretary of state was at the un last week where he triggered a sanctions back on iran for violations of the 2015 nuclear deal. he took an opportunity after his meeting with benjamin netanyahu to slam others for not supporting the pressure on tehran. the chief of the international atomic energy agency is in iran to gain access to two key nuclear sites for inspectors who suspect further violations of the iran nuclear program. in the coming days donald trump signed a law, jerry krishna will visit the region for peace talks. the us will try to convince more arab states don't normalize ties with israel, not going over well with the palestinians who say they are going against long-standing agreements, something to keep an eye on and mike pompeo will address the are in see, he recorded a speech in jerusalem, expect him to discuss the administration's pressure in tehran.

todd: actor and trump supporters on voice bringing star power to kick off the rnc. >> chose a different path, a man who is not a politician. a man who cares. a man who loves america and all americans. a man who works tirelessly. jillian: carley shimkus with serious xm 115 here to break it down. >> reporter: you can count the number of hollywood actors who consider themselves trump supporters on one hand, john voigt is chief among them. this video was well done, heavy on the patriotic imagery and painted donald trump as the one person who can lead the country into full economic recovery, took shots at democrats accusing them of fanning the flames of lawlessness. he also has a good voice for narration which is why some

folks like michael on twitter felt he was watching the movie. night one in the books. on tonight 2 and perhaps another misty intro video. todd: we have the numbers on the dnc, look like a party divided. >> reporter: democrats and the biden campaign worked hard to paint a unified message but the numbers are in, 1000 delegates voted against the party platform. one of the most progressive party platforms of all time but does not endorse medicare for all or the green new deal. it was a big deal when rashida tlaib said she would not support the platform but clearly she was not the only person to do that.
1:48 am
1119 sanders delegates, about the same as the delegates who voted against the party platform. they are painting a message of moderate and progressive and the parties unified, the party platform delegate count paints a different picture. todd: interesting to see how this develops. i feel there is unrest as we continue to plow along on election 2020. we appreciate it. jillian: a cancer survivor thanking donald trump for the right to try. >> they didn't give me the right to try mental treatments, you did. without you i would have died waiting for them to be approved. >> reporter: the president's policies saved her life, she joins us next. guys, are you tired

knows what that feels like with the coronavirus, we've been waiting for at your. the president has been cutting so much red tape, the plasma this week, by expediting treatment safely, people who don't have the luxury of waiting like me can try these treatments right away. i was able to try external treatment and thanks to him i'm alive and a lot of people with the same story as me, the first patient advocate we ever had as president. jillian: was there ever a time you gave up hope? >> when no one else is fighting for you, you feel all alone. when the president is fighting for you, people with illnesses are nobody's short list but on the president -- we are. it was an incredible thing when everyone is giving up on you and you see the president take on something there are no guarantees in life but i'm going to fight for you. he believes if it is not looking good you can beat the odds, achieving healthcare which is different from socialized

medicine. when you look at what happened in the uk, he wanted, his parents wanted him to have the right to try experience all medication and the government health systems is now. it is too dangerous, he was going to die if he didn't try anything and too expensive but in america it is like we have those rights, the right to try, if we want to. some people may not want to. i wanted to and the president gave me that right and that's what is at stake in this election. of joe biden was when we will not be able to vote on healthcare again because we will be in socialized medicine. whatever he says when you look at it everybody will lose their health care based on what he and kamala harris want to do. bernie sanders is running the party. it will be socialized medicine. >> that leads into my next question, for a lot of people in this country and rightfully so coronavirus is on top of their minds when they think about the election, the economy is on the top of their mind but why should this be as well?
1:55 am
>> healthcare affects everyone regardless what political party you are in. i'm in california. politics i decided for you. you vote on election day, it's already predetermined it will be democrat but for the first time i had a representative in washington in the president fighting for us, everyone sees that, it has been bipartisan moving all of america to help with the coronavirus, the president is nonpartisan, he's a businessman. politics doesn't matter, people matter and that is what is so important the selection because joe biden is all about politics, look at bernie sanders, aoc was all i care about, they say healthcare is a human right but what is that right too i in california, the only writer gave me was marijuana, opioids and the right to die with dignity. donald trump has given me the right to try experience the medications and healthcare, everybody realizes your life shutdown and you want to make those personal health decisions for yourself with your doctor,

you don't want government getting in the way and telling you what you can or cannot do and that is what is at stake in this election, socialized medicine the government will decide whether or not you get treatment, whether you see a doctor. you saw what happened with the va even before donald trump reformed it, people dying on wait lists, they couldn't see a doctor, that will happen if you crash the system and throw everyone into a system. it will be survival of the fittest and people with preexisting conditions will be first to go. >> appreciate you sharing it with us, you worked late last night. we appreciate you being here, thank you. todd: in the next hour of "fox and friends first" an american city and flames as rights erupt following the shooting of jacob blake. ben carson react to the unrest.
