first, to mike tobin who isn't live now in kenosha, wisconsin, to begin the hour. make it? >> well build a whole town of kenosha smells like a structure fire. this is one example and as you can see there is more than a little smoke rising up among this particular business. the state is now making it an assessment about the extent of the damage and they also said they will be re-deploying more national guardsmen to the scene last night. the way it boiled down last night's support has itself seem to become the line where the demonstrators squared off with police in riot gear. a pretty typical escalation which started with the bottles, glass bottles coming over the crowd. ultimately the demonstrators went to fireworks and they were using mortars, not military motors but the type of thing you would see at a fourth of july. some of them with bright colors and some of them with an explosion. police responded with things like rubber bullets and tear gas

to back up the crowd. ultimately we saw the number of the protesters at the courthouse drawdown and shortly after that, that's one of the structure fire started. by midnight there were multiple structure fires burning here in kenosha and all the fire crews had their hands full. business owners and i left to do with aftermath. >> dana: there i >> bill: therea second video that's been made public now, do we know anything about that? >> it doesn't set an any amount of light, but because it's video that's making the rounds on social media that there was a skirmish, a struggle with police and jacob blake. shortly after that struggle began you can see jacob like brakes contact with the police and walks rather casually from the passenger side of the vehicle over to the driver side of the vehicle. that's when he makes the lunch for the door and to the driver's side of the boat vehicle.

you see the officer tugging on his shirt and ultimately that's when shots were fired. what we once he is is cam footage from the police because even though they have the budget for it they were not wearing body cameras at the time. >> billy: meanwhile some rioters hijacking protests in that town and targeting local businesses. grady trimble reports now as well. >> i talked to several local business owners today and they say they understand the frustration of the people who are protesting what's happened to jacob lake and what they don't understand is why they have become the target of angry rioters. this building behind me used to be a mattress store on the second floor and a banquet hall here now reduced to and there were several buildings around kenosha that were still on fire and as they still went on coming crews and other fire crews, ranchers last night's windows of

few years and it hasn't worked for him in any major or significant way but the majority of americans, disapprove. disapprove of his handling of race relations and i think the way -- at some of the things he get throughout the course of his administration could she offered to do it a couple times. he could be exacerbated or you could have some of those feelings. thi got a clip from him that wil be in a moment but go ahead. are you surprised and was it effective? >> i was not surprised and the one great advantage that you have about these conventions as you can actually remove the media filter by which everybody gets their information and speak directly to people about what you stand for. i think too often when we approach the trump campaign and the media filter, it somehow

that they have a blind spot for people of color and that's definitely not the case. if you look at the lineup that everybody put together tonight, you will see it again wednesday and see it again thursday and that's an important piece of information not only for voters across the country but really just a statement of value for the campaign itself. i could read that there were some very effective fee speeches last night and i look forward to some tonight as well. >> billy: is one of the lines that i met last night. our nations have always been back toward fairness.

in washington, d.c.. there does not seem to be a balance for joe biden coming off of the dmca last week. is that true and what would explain that. >> i think that's accurate, and we talked to the recent political history and there isn't much of a balance in the last four elections. think about this, in the last four sets of conventions the biggest balance and there isn't much of a balance, for both bush and gore in 2,000 and trump is the one exception to the rest of these. the person who goes first tends to not have a good outcome. the person who goes second

person convention and we had people commenting on what's going on. you interview people on the floor and there's a lot of guys out there and a lot of swirl. the virtual conventions hide all that in 2016 for example, we were interviewing bernie sanders on the floor in the democratic convention expressing disinterest in supporting the democratic nominee and that, that's the republican delegation from texas. and the other one is we are watching it and different ways. how many of us are watching on our phones and how many are watching our tablets? >> bill: more and more. you will believe the undecided voters? >> absolutely.

>> so how many are there do you believe? >> and you have people who today are weakly linked to their choice and recent polls i've been looking at and battleground states, that number ranges from 12-18% of the electorate who said it could conceivably -- they could see themselves voting for someone other than the choice today. that's several decades and it's more today than it was five elections ago for example in 2,000, a much smaller than it was in the 70s and 80s and early 90s. still those people become more important in a close election, and that's much more important. come on down to the swamp. >> bill: i shall be there. two of the largest fires scorching thousands of acres damaging hundreds of homes. my fire officials say things

parts of the west coast. leland vittert reports now from the louisiana shores. how goes it now at crack time? >> this is the low between the two storms and laura should make landfall between here and the texas border and about 36 hours. the war breaks out on the gulf of mexico have long been evacuated and the sheriff's department here tells me that in this county along an area the size of rhode island will be underwater. the waterline is expected with the storm surge and flooding to reach the windows of these homes that have been long boarded up. more than 5,000 people are under mandatory evacuations and people have until tomorrow morning to board up and pack up and move out. those hunkering down at 72 hours worth of supplies. port arthur, texas, is home to the largest oil refinery and protected by levees which were no match for hurricane harvey is

that's a category one hurricane, but in relatively short order we expect it to intensify up to a category two. then category three, 115 miles per hour. those are portions of central louisiana and those are all possibilities to where landfall will eventually occur with the system. these are central models and pc are very defined eye wall which would mean a lot of wind and very heavy rain. on top of that just carrying a wall of water, that's something that happens with these big storms. so a storm surge as possible seeing anywhere from 7-11 feet which would do a ton of damage and put large areas of the coast underwater. so no surprise when we talk about that, that we see all of the warnings that we have in place. additionally, we are expecting

wind and warm weather are threatening to ignite even more flames. the governor gavin newsom says california is "deploying every resource at our disposal and at least seven people died. officials warning folks to stay out of evacuated areas so they can get fire under control. some good news, redwood trees in california sold a state park surviving the flames, some more than 2,000 years old. experts say the trees that did fall will help me read redwoods a group grow and animals can live under their logs. police declaring a riot for the fourth night in a row, rioters marching on the union building and attempting to set it on fi fire. not reporting from on that. >> violent rioters once again targeted and set fire to this police union city hall. police say a crowd of about 300 people, many in helmets and body armor marched to the building

chanting "burn it down." the place was lit o lit on fire and an accelerant caused it to rapidly explode. over the course of several hours they repeatedly used the loud speaker to warn the crowd that fail failure to leave would result in teargas and arrests. rioters let even more fires to the building and 25 people were arrested. because of last night's violent riots and fires 30 officers were pulled from the usual patrols and more than 100 calls around the city including priority calls like burglary were placed on hold. that affirmative homeland security blames oregon's governor insisting she has the ability to activate national troops and as a republican national convention kicked off oregon's delegates took a moment to address the violence. >> president trump has stood up to the violent thugs and denounced those who seek to destabilize our state with anarchy and destruction. giving us hope that we can make

>> as covid 19 cases decrease in some places. ohio governor mike dewine as with osprey to good to see you again. i know you can't see this, so let's listen to what i'm explaining your. i think it's good news for a lot of the states we saw in july. this is the heat map going through the entire crisis. the darker the red, the more problem you had. florida, texas, arizona certainly in that category. what we're finding right now is in the state of arizona, this is so impressive, their peak was on july 6. they are going in the right direction. over here, florida, their peak was on july 17th. since that they've been getting that number down as well. in the state of texas, their peak was july 22 commit cuc all within a week, governor, in mid july, they saw things, they

their message is pretty clear, i think they're going to do a good job in keeping kids safe and everyone safe in classroom. i think they do it in the libraries and even do it in the dormitories. the real problem is the same probably seen many time with adults. that is we let our guard down, these kids are letting their guards down at parties, things that are occurring not during the day, not during class, but it's what you do the rest of the time. i think the best hope frankly, is for college students to kind of tell themselves they want to stay on campus. we want to stay on campus and do it in person, and the only way that will happen as if everybody stays focused on this. i think that purebred will make a difference. >> you gave the green light two high school sports. here is the trend emceeing on this board. it's true fort new york and new jersey as well. the virus goes in the community, spreads everywhere for 14 days,

people realize it, change their behavior and it takes about four weeks or a little bit more than a month to boil it out of you. do you think that is the pattern we are seeing in states? >> i think what we're seeing in ohio, you know, i think people wearing masks more in the urban areas, i think what we are seeing is that we are taking those numbers down more dramatically in the last month because people are being more careful. the rural areas, we have seen it expand. i think what we are trying to message folks in the rural areas, is it's time now to put the mask on and keep your distance, because that's how we can knock this thing down. we're down to about 4 percent positivity in ohio, which is not bad. it's not bad, but significantly higher in some of our rural counties and we're worried about them, particularly as school starts back in. waveguide to do it. >> thank you for coming back
