nothing is being productive or happening or heard. how do we change what is happening right now? >> there is some legitimacy to the argument of police brutality and police misconduct. senator tim scott has legislation that dick durbin of illinois referred to, sponsored by senator tim scott was rejected by democrats because it is a wage issue for the election. this was an opportunity for democrats and republicans to work together for the benefit of all americans, certainly democrats didn't allow for that opportunity. the only way to solve america's issues is to sit together not as ideologues and have an ideologue fight between democrat and republican and be each other's check but listen to each other and get something done.

jillian: there are people who don't like donald trump because of his tweets and his approach to things but the message tried to get across last night especially from ivanka trump is look at the record. do you think that resonated? >> i think it did, this convention was all about the record. there was a ton of policy and more importantly how policy impacted real lives across america and that was very effective. i do think the president's style attracts people to his campaign, some people to his campaign because it allows him to go around the media and we know oftentimes that message gets distorted in the media so he doesn't allow it to get around the media but most effective when he is focusing on real results, the impact on real people and making that case they are only attacking him to get to americans, to get to his supporters and that is more

effective case when he tweets about media figures or things that have to do with his ego or something someone said about him personally, those -- the american people and how people are attacking trump to get to them. the communication style is quite effective. todd: nancy pelosi saying joe biden should cancel his debates with the president, joe biden saying i don't want to do that. >> they continue down the straight and narrow, i will debate him and be a fact checker. everybody knows this man is a pathological tendency not to tell the truth. todd: what do you make of this inconsistent messaging from the dems? >> pelosi is worried about putting joe biden against donald

in louisiana six people died because of the storm. listen to the governor. >> all were related to trees falling on residences which is in line with this being a major wind event. >> reporter: and laura. north it spun off a tornado near jonesboro, arkansas and tore part of the church roof off. the storm tracks through tennessee and kentucky today, knocked out power to 1 million homes and businesses and the number one priority today is restoring power, hundreds of linemen from all over the country, trying to get on the roads to get that electricity working. todd: they do amazing work. >> they are virtually untouched in the midst of that rubble.

>> homeowners in the storm's path left rebuild their lives but won't be alone. team rubicon operations support william porter joins us with how the group is responding. how is your team doing? >> we are doing great. we were pre-positioned in louisiana before the storm and as soon as it was safe to start working we started clearing roads through the lake charles area. jillian: describe your efforts over the last 24-30 hours. >> we moved into the lake charles area throughout the storm, as close as possible as hurricane laura came on the shore. at daybreak, we start seeing where the biggest impacts are. that was going on, we had teams of chainsaw operators and heavy equipment operators clearing
