in new york city. isn't that interesting? pete: unbelievable. pete: can you imagine that? jedediah: i can imagine it because we are talking about bill de blasio who seems to be lost in space throughout this whole issue. we are going to get to that and going to get to a lot more. we're going to begin right now with kenosha. we are just hours from president trump heading there to wisconsin. he is expected to deliver a law and order message amid the unrest in the city. brian: meanwhile joe biden is blaming the president for the uptick in violence nationwide. pete: we will see if that passes the smell test. griff jenkins is live in washington with the war of words. griff, good morning. griff: good morning, pete, jed and brian. president trump is going to kenosha to praise law enforcement's response to the unrest last week despite the objections from the governor and the mayor. and he made that very clear in an exclusive interview last night with laura ingraham. watch. >> i am a tremendous fan of law enforcement. and i want to thank the law enforcement. they've done a good job. and when the governor says that i shouldn't come or he would

prefer that i not come, i'm the one that called him and said, tony, you got to bring out the national guard. he agreed to it at least. he agreed to a small number, but the small number was plenty. griff: meanwhile joe biden traveled to pittsburgh in his first in person campaign event of the general election. blasting the president for the violence in the streets. >> he doesn't want to shed light. he wants to generate heat and is he stroking violence in our cities. fires are burning and we have a president who fans the flames rather than fighting the flames. but, we must not burn. griff: oh, but the president punching back blaming the democratic leaders who run those cities engulfed in chaos. >> the people that are getting hurt, they don't care. they don't care about these people. it's a weird thing. it's like warped minds. it's not only the democrats, it's the media. fake news. it's a sickness.

i think there is actually a fear. griff: for today's trip to kenosha something to watch. no plans to meet with members of jacob blake's family. organizers had 34r57bed a gathering at jacob blake's shooting. coincide with a visit. it will be interesting to see if there are any developments on that front. jed, brian? jedediah: thanks, griff. law and order is a key issue now that everyone is talking about. what's fascinating is joe biden has been essentially forced to come out front and center and talk about this issue. we just watched them go through a whole dnc without talking about riots, without pointing any fingers and blaming anyone. without saying this absolutely needs to stop, talking about the looting, talking about the destruction. and suddenly you have joe biden front and center now, pete, having to address this issue because there has been polling that's been done behind the scenes that says you are going to lose this election if you don't prioritize the destruction that's gone on in this country.

pete: after spending months failing to condemn any of it. yesterday was the first attempt to actually address it. yet he didn't condemn antifa. didn't condemn campaign staffer criminals out of jail committing crime. didn't call on governors to call out the national guard. didn't overtly talk about supporting police, brian. yet he wants to flip the script and make it seem like this is actually donald trump's problem. when we all know who these rioters and looters would ultimately support. brian: what has the president done? he has offered support to every city right away, whatever you need. not only was he rejected he was ridiculed even for the offer. todd wheeler, this terrible mayor over in portland just by looking at his pure track record actually blamed the president for the unrest and then took it over and the unrest got worse. and do you know what they did yesterday? they showed up at his house demanding that ted wheeler resign and then mocked him with a happy birthday song that we

can't repeat because we want to stay on the air. so the question is, if the people of your city despise you, and you are blaming the president, even the protesters aren't blaming the president. they are blaming you. in seattle, the same thing. the summer of love ended up being a summer of protest and they ended up at the mayor's house. when people realize that the protesters become rioters and they turn on you, and when you give them room to vent, they turn on you. they loo look at it as weakness. in terms of the joe biden is the joe biden would be administration going to be tough and have they been on the record being tough against the protesters/rioters? the answer is no. let's go back to june 18th on the late show, kamala harris. >> they are not going to stop. they're not going to stop. this is a movement, i'm telling you, they are not going to stop. and everyone beware because they are not going to stop. they are not going to stop

before election day in november and they are not going to stop after election day. and that should be -- everyone should take note of that on both level. they are not going to let up, and they should not. and we should not. brian: they should not. so let's continue with the unrest in oakland last night in los angeles. we have now kenosha. then have you raleigh, north carolina. and then you have, obviously what's going on in seattle. and some of this uprising she wants it to stop. not only they are not condemning it, they are backing it. pete: exactly. brian: that's the key, pete. pete: that clip is from june. there were still over 50 cities in america where rioting and looting had happened. so there was already evidence of the violence; yet, they were still encouraging it saying hey, this is a good thing. keep it going when the violence was already there precincts had already been under siege and taken over in minneapolis. and you wonder why it continues. yet, they want to point the finger at donald trump. i just don't think it passes the

smell test, jed. i think voters who look at this realize who wants law and order and who has been fomenting it? jedediah: it also just looks like democrats are struggling to find a narrative because they thought oh, well side with protests and we will be in the wind. this will be great. you saw all of this escalating violence and they didn't know what to do. if they condemned violence they would be marginalizing their base. tells you a lot what that base is really about and what it consists of and what their priorities are. now they feel actually compelled to do something. because have you donald trump coming out and not only addressing the issue by supplying the national guard when requested, but also talking about it and backing police officers and you have a lot of individuals around the country feeling safe and saying this is not going to work. we need someone in a position of power who is going to do something and be compelled to acted. also, they are looking at, remember, a lot of these cities are run by democrat mayors and governors. pete: all of them.

jedediah: basically opghted for inaction. wait a second if we do this expand that to the national stage, we are in big, big trouble. on that topic though of struggling to find a narrative, you are also seeing a lot of hypocrisy emerge from democrats these days. let's start with joe biden. now, there has been a lot of talk about fracking, right? energy independence. yesterday, in pittsburgh, biden said this about fracking. take a listen. >> i am not banning fracking. let me say that again. i am not banning fracking. no matter how many times donald trump lies about me. brian: okay. not banning fracking, which is interesting because in the past we had this -- pete lent me his vcr because a lot of times i can't stay up late to tape the debates. and i was able to use the vcr and play back it. turns out that joe biden was asked about this when he was just a candidate.

look at his record. the joe biden we saw emerge as the former vice president to go and get the nomination because no one wanted bernie sanders is a different joe biden because we listened to him and we also, pete, look who is around him. the people who have signed off to back him are not going to put up with a moderate candidate. not only. pete: exactly. brian: on the record of not being moderate. what makes people feel the undecideds and independents that he is not going to way to the left. why is the squad so silent? why did bernie sanders sign a document basically saying joe biden is going to be the most progressive president in his lifetime? pete: brian, he is completely captured by the anti-police. >> he won't admit it. pete: he can't admit it. he rely on double speak. people rely on the energy industry actually voted for him if he wants to win. brian: pete, let me add this. do you know what is i do book

kel. he knows the american people want a moderate also not goods to be on it. also like is he running on something to win but telling everyone i'm not going to be the person i am to get elected. pete: almost like a politician which is what voters rejected in 2016. jedediah: yeah. he stands for nothing. that's why he has bernie sanders front and center out talking about his economic agenda. that's why people know that if they vote joe biden they are actually voting for kamala harris because she is going to be the person that is going to really have the influence there. he seems to not care at all by the way. you will hear a lot of hypocrisy. remember, this is the guy who authored the crime bill that's not talking about criminal justice reform. has been in the senate for how many decades now and he is acting like he is going to come in and effectuate this major change on criminal justice when his record actually speaks to the complete opposite. so people are going to have to decide. do they want to pay attention to what joe biden is saying in 2020 or do they want to pay attention to what joe biden has done over the years and the contrast between what he claims to be and

who around him is very clearly in positions of power. he would win that election. they would step forward. you wait and you see, bernie sanders will be front and center and not only will bernie be front and center but bernie's policies will be front and center. make sure you are going to vote joe biden. make sure you support bernie sanders' policies because that's what's gtion to lead the way. pete: you go back to those photos. there was no one around him yesterday. does it do count going to a campaign trail go to empty warehouse surrounded by circles no one there and you read off of a teleprompter for 23 minutes and take no questions? does that technically brian meet the threshold of a campaign event? massive crowds facing off after two deputies shot and killed a black man in los angeles. priforts gathering outside the l.a. county sheriff's station late last night. police say the man was riding a bike when deputies tried to stop him but he ran. he got into a fight and pulled out a gun before police shot him. no other details were released. we will keep you updated. four navy crew members found alive after plane crashes during a training exercise. the crew jumped from the plane before it hit the ground just outside of norfolk, virginia. they were all wearing parachutes which the navy requires them to do before getting on board. no one was hurt and there is no word on what cause the accident. three top democrats are facing progressive challengers in key primaries today in massachusetts. incumbent senator ed markey is facing off against congressman joe kennedy in a closely watched senate race. on the house sideways and steven

donald trump's america, it's getting worse, and you know why because donald trump adds fuel to every fire. he won't stand up to any form of violence. he keeps telling us that he was president, you would feel safe. well, he is president whether he knows it or not. and it is happening. it's getting worse. jedediah: joe biden slamming president trump over unrest in america as he makes an earlier than expected return to the campaign trail. but will this message work with voters? here to discuss partner and president at maslansky and partners lee carter and radio talk show host tony katz. welcome both of you to the show. we will start with you, lee. this strategy that joe biden has implemented now of attacking president trump and essentially blaming him for the violence going on that we see going on in cities around the country, will that strategy be successful? >> well, this is sort of a classic reframe instead of reframing it about him it's his

opponent. i don't think this is the right approach for joe biden. he should be reframing not the event. he should be trying to say let's bring people together. is he reacting to donald trump. he is not reacting to the issue at hand. and the issue at hand is that there is violence. there is racial injustice and people are angry. people are afraid. people are upset. he should be reacting to that he should be taking a page out of the playbook of leaders before him who came to unite. especially if that's the platform he is running on. what he is running on is donald trump's america is bad. i'm a decent guy. and he should come out and behave like a decent guy and show us what unity looks like. show us what the american spirit looks like. that's not what he is doing. is he simply reacting to donald trump. i always say when a person is reacting it's not the one who is acting. the one who scketding i acting e usually the one who is leading. jedediah: we see a shift in strategy. dnc where rioting and violence not discussed. now you see joe biden coming out and feeling pressured to talk about this.

why the change and do you expect that to continue? >> well, i think it's absolutely correct when we talk about reaction and joe biden is reacting to the trump campaign speaking the truth to america and america responding. it's why you see democratic mayors in minnesota backing donald trump. but the real bigger conversation is that joe biden's lack of leadership has turned into a lie. the democratic party was okay with the rioting. they didn't speak out about the rioting. so when joe biden goes to pennsylvania and says i do look like a radical socialist to you? the answer is no, but your party does. you look like the guy who is waiting for the home health nurse to give you your pudding cup. you look completely and totally out of touch. and that's what america is really responding to. so he was forced to get into this game. a game he doesn't want to get into. and he is forced to tell a story that america is not believing. that's the real story here. jedediah: lee, we see the topic

of law and order being prioritized right now. i'm curious in your polling have you seen that people around the country are prioritizing that issue right now? >> there is no doubt about it. the president has been talking about this since june. he had a lot of criticism about it. a lot of people say that his messaging has been somewhat racist. the bought line is this the american people are concerned for safety. we have seen first time gun sales have gone up huge percentages this year. this is a big issue to americans. i would say the number one issue when people are going to make their choice in november is not going to be the economy. it's not going to be a number of other things that people are talking about. it is who makes you feel most safe? and that means most safe physically and it has to do with the law and order message. it has to do with covid and also has to do with your financial security. whichever candidate can own safety is the candidate that's going to win. jedediah: tony, do you anticipate kamala harris weighing in on this issue? i'm curious how she would come out and speak about this

violence as we have her on record before encouraging protesters. do you think there will be a shift in tone for her as well? >> encouraging protesters and saying that it's never going to end. she can't make the delineation between protesters and rioters that all of us can make protest god and valuable. people want to protest police brutal should do so. everything we are seeing in portland and seattle and minneapolis and chicago and new york are riots. those certainly aren't things that americans vote for as move further and further into the suburbs. the chance for the win to the but burr ban soccer mom goes away that mom is worried about the safety of their children. and that mom comes in all sizes and creed. kamala harris can try to jump in she falls into the trap am i appealing to that group or that group has no center or core. which is probably why she was picked to be the vice presidential nominee to begin with. jedediah: yeah.

this is a very serious guy. i would not say household name but it's someone who, you know, you could sees a has a very log track record with some of the biggest politicians in that state up and down. once he started talking and once it came from the horse's mouth, it was both. it was revealing but also chilling, i would say. brian: flawed and wasn't surprised to see the "fox & friends weekend" do it and talk about your story. it was on sunday's "new york post." so you talked to the anonymous source and he said not only has he done it himself he trains others to do it in new jersey, pennsylvania as well as new york and here is an idea of what he does. here is an example. democratic operative. real thing blanking war november 3rd over this stuff and if they knew how it's done this is how they could fix it. and one of the areas in which

you delve into it how they do it is the envelope is much more full proof than the ballot. the key is getting the envelope, correct? >> right. what he would say is your voter is mail the ballot. once the ballots go out they fan out and they knock on doors and they convince people to hand over completed ballots which you might be thinking oh, that's crazy, but he laughed. >> it's easier than you think. hello, i'm a district leader. i'm with the county this or that. i'm here to mail your ballot. shocking number of people will just hand over completed ballots. and, you know there, san area in the article where he says, you know, you got to make sure to sprinkle the ballot in different mailboxes because if you put them all in one mailbox it's suspicious. there was a voter mail job pointed to got busted i would never make that mistake they put all the ballots in one mailbox. brian: open up the envelope and

put the new ballot in steam it open. here is another story. post manuel for example a rabid anti-trump guy and working in bedminster for republican strong hold. can he take those blank ballots knowing 95% are going to be republican. can he throw those in the garbage. and i guess he has done that. >> i mean, and how would you know and once a ballot is cast that's it. you don't get to cast another one. there is no mechanism to prevent that there has been cases in new york, which are documented in this article where, you know, like 500 ballots were delivered to the board of elections 8 months later and it was just like you know, they were found in a corner somewhere. we don't know how they got there who put them there those people ended up being disenfranchised. brian: in new jersey we already know what a debacle it was in these primaries and new york had one, too. with ballots being left in postal floors or not appearing

at all. another point you have is from a nursing home, for example, said anonymous the nursing home ballots. nursing homes where the nurels is actually a paid operative. go room by room to old people who still want to feel like they are relevant and they literally fill it out for them. that happenings a lot? >> you don't even need to steam it open in that case. they just -- it's, you know, this has been called granny harvesting in the past. they don't even have to steam it open because the nurse is on the payroll and then they just go and the nurse gets a stack of ballots hello, we are going to do the ballots together. and then it's both fraud and it's elder abuse, frankly. >> what did you walk away with out of all of this, the operation. when you would wrote the interview and the story. what did you walk away with? >> the take away from me and his take away, too. you don't need to -- the answer here is not to abolish mail know

weather update. what's the latest? janice: hi, jed, we are in the peak season tropics september 1st. welcome to meteorological fall by the way. we have a few things we are watching a wave off the coast of africa. tropical depression number 15 and also an area of interest into the caribbean move into central america over the next couple days. here is the latest td 15. 15 mile-per-hour winds moving away from land. so that's good news. we are going to still see the threat for rough surf and rip current along the east coast in case you are going to the beach today. there is the tropical model showing this area of low pressure regardless of if it develops moving into central america where they could get some heavy rainfall certainly at the very least. heat advisories in effect for parts of texas and through louisiana and mississippi where temperatures will get into the 90's and to 100 degrees but with the heat indices going to feel a lot warmer than that watch that potential for hot conditions.

jedediah: some good news because your next paycheck could be bigger than normal. starting today, businesses can stop withholding payroll taxes. brian: edward lawrence from our sister network and fox business joins us live from washington with what it means for your pocket. edward i guess it depends on the business right? >> it does depend on the business brian. 1.3 million people working for the federal government, as well as some others with other companies will get a 6.2% pay raise, starting today. that's because president donald trump signed an executive order last august, that deferred the

social security tax that's collected by the irs. now companies have to opt into this. the federal government did. now anyone making under $2,000 a week or an annual salary of $104,000, gets this deal. now the catch is that employees would get the break but have to start paying the deferred part back from january to april of next year. that deferring just pushes those payments off. in recent weeks president donald trump and white house economic advisor larry kudlow said they want to make sure people don't ever have to pay the tax back. >> he will protect the social security system, okay, he said that a million times but he would like a permanent deferral so therefore, both employees and employers won't have to worry about added tax liabilities in the future. that would take lawmakers and congress to come to a deal, kudl ow says he believes going forward the president will sign another executive order at the end of the year deferring
