>> l, arthel, i think it's important to mention that treasury secretary steve mnuchin, you just heard from, was in the tank meeting at the pentagon on july 20th, 2017, when the president berated the pentagon four-star generals, calling them "losers," "dopes," and "babies." "i would go to were many people " address in the room president trump, "you are a bunch of dopes and babies." when seam agent says he has never are the president speak that way of the military were to generals, that is patently false. i confirm with people who were present at the meeting, the president used those exact words in the pentagon. i also circle back with my sources and confirm the president did not want to go to the aisne-marne cemetery in france to honor the american war dead when he could no longer fly by helicopter, and that one of the president's favorite words when he uses when he's angry is

everyone wh is trying to do in recent months. they don't want the military dragged into this. one other quick point, the president has been very good to veterans. he has given the pentagon almost a blank check, but he views the relationship as transactional and expects complete loyalty. he likes to use the military as props and that's what my sources have been telling me. >> arthel: to be clear, i'm not at all suggesting that they are your sources. i have no idea who your sources are. it is no you have good sources. those are just two people i thought would be intereste interested -- interesting to hear from on this subject. jennifer griffin, thank you very much for your great reporting. >> thank you. >> arthel: leland? >> leland: the president is about 20 minutes away from his news conference. something pretty unusual, we will have a news conference at the north portico. jeff mason has been covering this for a long time. he says he hasn't seen something like that in all of his years.

10:43 am
world health, i got out of, because we are spending $500 million, are we spending $38 million in china controlled? the world trade, they've been very nice to us lately, i will say that. amazing. we never used win anything, we would lose every case. now all of a sudden we're winning lots of cases. we just won $7 billion in the case, and they are talking to us much differently than they used to. not treated fairly. china is treated as a developing nation. we are treated as a nation that is fully developed. we are not fully developed as far as i'm concerned. when he looked around at portland deceiving these democrats are doing to our cities, take a look at what's happening in new york and chicago. we have democrat run studies dominic cities , mayors and governors running states so badly, running city so badly, it's very sad to look at.
10:44 am
it's democrat-run. every one of them that i see. i guess we could probably find one or two that aren't, but so far i haven't been able to. if you look at biden, he supported ppp, trans-pacific partnership, which would have been a disaster, would have destroyed our automobile business. by the way, many plans are being built right now. auto plants, in michigan. they are being built and don't like in ohio, south carolina, north carolina, all over, and e. at a level we've never seen before. as such as japan, germany, and others, "sorry, you've got to come here and build plants. otherwise we will have to make a very tough on you with tariffs." we got out of the horrible paris climate accord that he'll go back into. that sounds wonderful. it's a disaster for this count country. they take away your wealth. the paris climate accord.
10:45 am
at the other countries don't have to adhere to it. china doesn't kick in until 2030. they don't have to do anything until 2030. we have very high standards. under some scenarios, 25% of our businesses would have to close in order to qualify under this ridiculous paris climate accord. sounds good, was very bad, very expensive. "the new york times" published an entire story of biden's china sellouts, which was amazing, from "the new york times." i appreciate that. 2001, biden said the united states welcome the emergence of a prosperous integrated china on the global stage, because we expect this is going to be a china that plays by the rules. they didn't play by the rules. they didn't play by the rules. the world trade organization, one of the reasons it is so bad is that china didn't play by the rules. we did. but there rules were easier, because they are considered a developing nation. they had a much lower standard. even that, they didn't play by the rules. that's when they became a
10:46 am
rocket ship. they were flatlined for years and years and years, then they joined the world trade organization. frankly, they cheated, okay? they cheated. i'll say it, what differences that make? i made a great trade deal with china. great. and they are buying. you know why? because i know i'm not happy. that's why they are buying. i talk about because today is labor day and it's a good time to talk about where we are being ripped off by countries. but nobody's even close to chi china. biden called it a great power because great powers adhere to international norms in the areas of nonprin nonproliferation, hun rights, and trade. they didn't. they took advantage of stupid people. and biden is a stupid person. you know that. you're not going to write it, but you know that. because of biden's economic treachery, 16,000 shuttered american factories. i hear this morning that new number is probably 70,000.
10:47 am
70,000 shuttered american factories, and he's talking about how wonderful it is with china. no, china has been very bad. on top of which, we have the china plague sent to us. and other viruses. nothing near this serious, but the swine -- we had the virus is sent in over the years that came from china. i wonder why? if biden wins, china wins, because china will own this country. if biden wins, china will own this country, and hopefully you're not going to be able to find that out. it's the most important election in their history, right now. most important election in their history. under my administration, we will make america into the manufacturing superpower of the world, and we will end our reliance on china once and for all. whether it is decoupling or putting in massive tariffs, like i've been doing already, i'm going to end our reliance on china, because we can't rely on china. i don't want them building a military like they are building
10:48 am
right now. they're using our money to build it. we will manufacture our critical medical supplies in the united states, we will create made in america tax credits, and bring our jobs back from china to the united states, and impose tariffs on companies that desert america to create jobs in china and other countries. if they can't do it here, let them pay a big tax to build it someplace else and send it into our country. we will prohibit federal contracts from companies that outsource to china, and hold china accountable for allowing this virus to spread around the world. now you can understand why china would much rather see sleepy joe the donald trump. as long as i'm president, we will never waver in our undying loyalty to the american worker, and to our country as a whole. happy labor day, everybody. yeah, go ahead. >> reporter: [unclear audio]
10:49 am
>> president trump: you're going to have to take that off. how many feet are you awake? well, if you don't take it off, you are very awful. it would be a lot easier -- >> reporter: is that better? >> president trump: it's better, yeah. >> reporter: mr. president, some are having a hard time believing your denial that -- [inaudible] what you said about john mccain in the past. >> president trump: i never said that. >> reporter: [inaudible] >> president trump: i don't understand it at all. i've always been on the opposite side of john mccain. john mccain liked wars. i will be a better warrior than anybody, but when we fight a war, we are going to win them. frankly, i was never a fan of john mccain. you know that. it's been very obvious. i had to approve his entire funeral. i wanted him to get what he deserved. it was approved by me, we sent
10:50 am
air force one to pick up the casket. a lot of things. i was not a fan of john mccain, because he wanted the endless wars. i didn't. i thought the way they were taking care of our great vets is not good, not appropriate. of course, he took the fake dirty dossier and give it over to the fbi. this is not somebody -- am i supposed to say what a wonderful guy? you know what? i lived with him, he lived with me. we had different philosophies. i think my philosophy is right. it has turned out to be right. but i wasn't a fan. i respect people, and i respect a lot of people. that doesn't mean i necessarily have to agree with them, and i didn't agree with him on a lot of things. the story is a hoax, written by a guy who has got it tremendously bad history. the magazine itself, which i don't read, but i hear it is total anti-trump. he's a big obama person, a big clinton person.
10:51 am
he made up the story. it's a totally made up story. fact, i was very happy to see -- i think that's number 15. these are people that were there. that's the 15th person. general kellogg, everybody that was there knew what happened. i was happy to see that he came out and said it's not true. just came out. it is a disgrace. he would say a thing like that? only an animal would say thing like that. as nobody who has more respect for her not only our military but for people that gave their lives in the military. there is nobody -- i think john kelly knows that, i think he would know that. i think he knows that for me. zach fuentes, as you know, worked for john. i think they both know that, but zach came out, as you know, today -- or yesterday, last night -- and said very strongly that he didn't hear anything like that. even john bolton came out and said that was untrue. what was true is we have the
10:52 am
worst weather -- i think it was as bad a rain as i have just about every scene. it was a fog, you literally couldn't see. i walked out, i didn't need somebody to tell me. i walked out and said, "there's no way you can take helicopters." i understand helicopters very well. they said, "no, sir, that's been canceled." secret service, they would have had to go through a very, very busy section during the day of paris. they would have had to go through the city. the paris police were asking us, "please don't do it," because i'm not ready. when you do that, you need a lot of time. they take days and days to prepare for that. i wanted to do it very badly. i was willing to sit in a car for two hours, three hours, four hours, i didn't care. it didn't matter. i had nothing else to do. i went there for that. i had nothing else to do. it was ended because of the terrible weather, and nobody was prepared to go through, in terms
10:53 am
of paris, the police, the military, and the secret servi secret service, and they came out very strongly and said, "we can't allow you to make this trip." if i wanted to. "we can't allow you come from a safety standpoint." it was a funny story, like the dirty fake dossier. just like the russia collusion, like all the other phony stories. they will be more phony stories. i do appreciate zach coming out. but zach now is the 15th person that has denied it. i think he also talked about the weather aspect of it, and he is probably the 14th or 15th person that blamed it on weather. that's enough of that. yes, please. >> reporter: [inaudible] >> president trump: thank you. >> reporter: [inaudible] >> president trump: we are talking about where? the right?
10:54 am
riots? the toughness, these are democrat run cities, all. there is no retribution. there is no -- they stand there and throw things at the people that are supposed to be protecting something, and nothing happens. they throw rocks, they throw cans of soup, they throw lots of hard objects, and really does anything happen. but i -- when we have the federal and they are, as you know, i told the u.s. marshals to get the man who killed another man, and they know who it was. you have to arrest him. after two and a half days, they didn't arrest him. the u.s. marshals went in, and it ended up being a gunfight and the man was killed. but this is a man that had a bad record and a man that killed a man in the street. i witnessed it, most people witness it, and the was marshals went in.
10:55 am
they weren't playing games. they can't play games. if somebody is breaking the law, there's got to be a form of retribution. i watch, so often, when i watch one of the areas we are talking about, now we have rochester. again, democrat governor, democrat mayor. all democrats, every one of them. it always will be. i was with the governor of texas, he looked at me and said, "i can't imagine how they allowed this to happen." it's different. i could talk about other governors saying the same thing pretty please, go ahead. >> reporter: we are also hearing reports like black lives matter traveling around the country, leaving their home cities to go riot and protest in other cities where they are causing damage. >> president trump: yeah. >> reporter: [inaudible] >> president trump: we have now over a thousand people, federal, in jail. we are prosecuting many people. a big thing was when i signed the law putting people in jail if you knocked on monuments. that was three months ago.
10:56 am
there hasn't been the federal monument knocked down in three months, or even thought about. i don't think they've even thought about it. that's had a very big impact. very big impact. but yeah, we are going around, and the nice part is you people -- see those people if they are? they taste take nice pictureseverybody so r photos. have a photo of andrew jackson, the money meant, he was getting ready. this guy was a big brave guy, he was up like this, showing off to all his friends, and he got arrested. so did a lot of other people get arrested. i would say we have the ultimate proof. in that case, we got there before they ripped down the statue of andrew jackson, which is so beautiful. it's right over there. but then never got it. after that, i signed an order saying you go to credit dominic prison for ten years. as soon as i signed that order, that was the end of the statues coming down. they have other ideas. they've got plenty of ideas. they are not that want to for ideas. please go ahead. report back david spunt
10:57 am
from fox news, thank you for taking my question. you talk a lot about the economy, and how the economy -- three weeks ago in bedminster ask you specifically why we have not called democratic leaders in the white house to meet with them. if they don't want to meet, it is on them. a lot of people are criticizing you. i cover you on the weekends -- >> president trump: i don't think they are. >> reporter: why have you not met with them? we are in september, there is no deal, there is no hope of a deal. we are two months out from the election. >> president trump: don't say there's no hope. why do you say there's no hope connect what do you know? what do you know? let me just tell you. i know my customers, that's what i do. i know pelosi, i know schumer. they don't want to make a deal because they think it's good for politics if they don't make a deal. this has nothing to do with anything other than you have to know who you're dealing with. i do. these are people that i don't have a lot of respect, i don't think they have a lot of respect for the american people. i know who i'm dealing with.
10:58 am
i don't need to meet with them to be turned down. they don't want to make a deal because they know that's good for the economy. if they make a deal that's good for the economy and therefore good for me for the election in november, november 3rd, therefore they are not going to make a deal. if they give the store away, if we bailed out all of the democrat run cities, give them a trillion dollars, which is the kind of money they want, they want a trillion dollars to bail out badly when democratic cities and states, whether it's new york or illinois or others, they want to bail them out. we are saying, "we are not going to pay that kind of a price in order to bail the city out. we'll do something to help cities, but that will have to rest on its own. why didn't you do this at the beginning?" because they could have done at the beginning. so, i know what i'm dealing with. i'm on the phone with steve mnuchin, mark meadows, all these people constantly while they are there. but i also know when it's time to meet with people. i've done very well with deals, okay?
10:59 am
that's what i do. i know when it's time to meet. but i don't have to meet them in order to be turned down and in order for them to walk out to the sticks, which is the microphones, and give you people a false report of what just took place in the oval office. they don't want to make a deal, because they think that, if the country does as badly as possible, even though a lot of people are being hurt, that's good for the >> as president, shouldn't you take the high road? >> i am. i'm taking the high road but not saying that. yeah. if i thought it made a difference, i'd do it in a minute. my question is about the durham report. you've accused people of many crimes against you during the russia investigation. >> yeah. they spied on my campaign. and if they were democrats, they would have been in jail two years ago. they would have been in jail
11:00 am
literally. if this side -- the democrats said they would have been in two years ago for 50 years for treason and other things. >> [question inaudible] >> i'm not going to say that. i said i purposely -- i don't know if that was a good thing, smart thing. i don't know. but nobody can complain about it. i have every right to have been very much involved and maybe some day i'll get involved. they spied on my campaign and that includes biden and obama. they spied on my campaign trying to defeat me. they wrote up a fake dossier that has proven to be totally fake. written by christopher steele. paid for by hillary clinton and the democrats. they used that illegally in the fisa courts. if we did what they did, you would have many people in jail right now. and you have -- other than the one agent that admitted his guilt that he forged documents, we don't have that yet. let's see what happens. let me just say something.
11:01 am
president obama and biden, sleepy joe, he knew everything that was happening. they spied on my campaign and they got caught. now let's see what happens. if this were the opposite way, people -- they would have been in jail already for a period of at least -- it would have started two years ago and would have been for 50 years for treason. nothing like that has ever happened before. then they created a tremendous expense, the money they paid is tremendous, millions of dollars. they created a fake dossier. a fake dossier. proven to be now fake. and they used it in the fisa courts. that's a crime. so far i haven't seen anybody have a problem. but the report hasn't been issued yet. let's see what happens with the durham report. this started with obama. some people would say and some people -- he was the president like let's leave him alone. if it were me, they wouldn't be leaving me alone.
11:02 am
i can tell you, it's a double standard and a disgrace. if i were a republican senator and if i were a republican congressman and we have great ones but we have a lot of them that don't fight the way that the other side fights. we have much better policy, much better things going for us like borders and walls and immigration and no sanctuary cities. they have a lot of bad stuff going. but they're dirty fighters. and the dirtiest fight of all is the issuance of 80 million ballots. they're unrequested. just sending 80 million ballots all over the country. 80 million nonrequested. i call them unsolicited ballots. that's going to be the dirtiest fight of all. they're going to harvest, do other things. if you look at the last period of six months -- take a look at the races where they sent ballots out. take a look at carolyn malone
11:03 am
whose race should be redone because she won that race. totally unfairly to her opponent. her opponent did well. that race should be rerun. but they declared her the winner because they heard i found out about it. take a look at what has happened in new jersey and in virginia and different places. it's a disgrace. that will be a beauty. >> thank you, mr. president. if proven true, are you okay with post master general dejoy and the fact that he asked former employees of private companies to make donations to the gop and reimburse them? are you okay -- >> i don't know much about it. i read something this morning. other than that, i have to see it. he's very respected man. he was approved very much by both parties, i guess. it was sort of an approval that took place by both parties. i don't know exactly what the story is. i'll know within a short period of time. read it for the first time this morning like you did. >> you support an
11:04 am
sir? >> sure. >> let the investigations go. but he's a very respected man. again, it was a bipartisan commission. post master general is appointed by a bipartisan commission. we'll see how that goes. i think he's a very honest guy. we'll see. >> mr. president, a follow up. is it proven to be a campaign finance scheme, you think he could lose his job? >> yes, if something can be proven, always. they have been looking at me for four years. they found nothing. four years. think of it for four years, from the day i came down to escalator, i've been under investigation by sleaze. they found nothing. friend of mine said you have to be the most innocent, honorable man ever to hold the office of president. think of it. they spent -- mueller alone, the rule number turns out to be $48 million.
11:05 am
many, many millions of dollars. they had 18 angry democrats looking. they had fbi agents all over the place. they had -- and they have no collision. friends of mine have said, sophisticated friends have said, you have to be the most innocent guy ever to hold this office. there's a lot of truth to that. >> thank you, mr. president. chancellor angela merkel is being pressured to cancel a pipeline from germany to russia. would you support the move? >> sure. i've been supportive of that. i was the first one that brought it up. you never heard of nordstream 2. i said wait a minute. we're protecting germany from russia. we're protecting germany from russia, nato. germany is paying russia billions of dollars to get their energy and the real number is probably 60 to 70% ultimately of
11:06 am
their energy is going to come from russia. and i said this for years that nobody talks about it. one of the many things between sanctions and all of the -- what we've done for ukraine relative to what the past -- they used to send pillows and we send tank busters. i brought it up. russia is unhappy. you never heard of nordstream 2. why is germany making this deal and we're protecting germany from russia? how does that work? on top of it, germany is delinquent because they're only paying a little more than 1% and they're supposed to be paying 2% and even the 2% is low. but just remember, trump, me. i got the countries of nato to spend $130 billion going to $400 billion a year. think of it.
11:07 am
$400 billion a year more for nato. and the purpose of nato primarily. now they can use it for other -- they have a little bit in the middle east, et cetera, et cetera. i'm the one that did that. so nobody talks about that. nobody talks about nordstream 2. the answer is absolutely if they feel that something happens. i don't know that germany is in a position right now. because germany is in a weakened position energy-wise. they're closing their plants, nuclear, coal, a lot of plans. and they put themselves in a very bad position frankly. very bad position. >> [question inaudible] >> no, i have nothing john. i have nothing against anybody. no. i was very heartened to see that a friend of his -- i know zach
11:08 am
is a friend of his and worked for him. heartened to see that zach fuentes that came out with the statement last night that it's not true. >> mr. president, what is un-american about federal government programs that are aimed at improving -- >> we're going to do a report. i fired those people. they're all done. it was a disgrace, frankly. we're going to give you a big report that will make you very happy. please. >> thank you. you said a moment ago -- you talked about joe biden and kamala harris and their comments. >> they say negative. they say negative. they're going to make the vaccine into a negative so that when we have it -- and i spoke to the head adviser, the head of johnson & johnson. to the greatest medical companies in the world. we're doing great. we're going to have it soon. so now what they're saying oh,
11:09 am
wow, this is bad news. president trump is getting this in record time. if this were the obama vaccine, you probably wouldn't have it for three years or at all. we'll have the vaccine soon, maybe before a special date. you know what date i'm talking about. let me tell you. what they're doing, because they think it is going fast. and if you talk to a lot of your sources, if you have sources, if you talked to your sources and the fda, you'll see it's going very well. the numbers are looking unbelievably strong, unbelievably good. so now they're saying, wow, trump has pulled this off. okay. let's disparage the vaccine. that's so bad for this country. so bad for the world to even say that. that's what they're saying. i watch kamala's poll numbers drop from 15 to almost 0 and drop out before she ran in iowa because people didn't like her.
11:10 am
i understand why. she will never be president, although i have to be careful because obama used to say that about me. i have to be careful. you have to look at her more closely. obviously joe is not doing to well. so you have to look at her too closely. she's talking about disparaging a vaccine. so people don't think the achievement was a great achievement. i don't want the achievement for myself. i want something that will make people better, that people aren't going to get sick with, that includes therapeutics, where we're doing equally as well. therapeutics. go ahead. >> your point is that what they're saying is that they're saying it for a purpose. >> yes. >> you have asserted repeatedly the vaccine will be on the market before the election -- >> i didn't say they will. i said by the end of the year. you're not following me accurately. i said the vaccines will be on the market before the ends of the year. they may even be on the market -- may even be developed fully developed, tested,
11:11 am
everything else. we have 30,000 people in one vaccine under test in very, highly infected areas. so we're going to get a good result one way or the other very soon. so i didn't say what you said. what i said is by the end of the year. i think it could be sooner than that. it could be during the month of october actually. could be before november. >> also saying that for political reasons. >> no, i'm saying that because we want to save a lot of lives. with me, it's the faster the better. with somebody else, maybe they would say it politically. i'm saying it in terms of this is what we need. we have to have. if we get the vaccine early, it's a great things. whether it's politics or not. do benefits -- if you're able to get something years ahead of schedule? i guess maybe they do. the most important thing to me is saving lives. it's the most important thing. go ahead. >> hi.
11:12 am
you sound so clear as opposed to everybody else. >> [question inaudible] >> so i want everybody to know everything that they can about our history. i'm not a believer in cancel culture. the good or the bad. you don't study the bad, it can happen again. i do want that subject studied very, very carefully and very accurately. but we grew up with certain history and now they're trying to change our history, revisionist history. that's why they want to take out our monuments, take down our statues. i saw something the other day which was horrendous. washington monument. they want to rename it. the d.c. committee. the d.c. committee is all democrats. abraham lincoln, thomas jefferson. we're talking about -- this is the big stuff now. the big stuff. they want to rename it? they want to redesignate it? they want to take some down?
11:13 am
no, we don't do that. never going to happen with me. i guarantee you that. i want to thank you all. i want to wish you a happy labor day and we're having tremendous success were it's on the vaccine, the pandemic, the plague that came in from china that china should have never let happen because i will never feel the same about china. i just want to again wish you a happy labor day. thanks very much, everybody. >> president trump wrapping up a labor day press conference about 45 minutes there from the north portico. a long list of what he calls his accomplishments the past four years. talking a lot about the economy and job growth on this labor day. grievances about the press and the biden campaign as well. a couple of headlines to the economy. the world trade organization is better and nicer to the united states and also talking about decoupling the u.s. economy from china. that is the headlines from the

associated press. we bring in roger fisk, former senior aid to john kerry. and tarah skinner, former state department adviser and fox news contributor. appreciate you sitting through this and bringing your thoughts and insights. roger to you, there were a lot of attacks about joe biden in this. biden is out on the campaign trail in pennsylvania with labor, with afclio head, mr. trumka. any thoughts? >> yeah, thanks for having me. great to be here as well. you know, the president is clearly frustrated. he's been -- he spent three or four months now trying to cram a round peg in a square hole. he desperately wants the former vice president to be a molotov cocktail within he said very clearly that rioting is not protesting. looting is no protesting --
11:15 am
>> there's that part of it, which is the public safety part. he also made this very clear point and said it a number of times. if biden wins, china wins. if biden wins, china owns the united states. anyone can agree. you worked in the obama administration and would say that president trump's policies towards china are very difference than those of barack obama. >> they're very different to the extent that there's a policy at all. previrus, he was running the economy by borrow ago trillion a year, which is gobbled up by the chinese and the japanese. i don't necessarily buy it when you're borrowing a trillion -- >> the obama administration was borrow ago ton of mine from china, too. different conversation there. as we look at this in terms of a domestic political conversation, 60 days and less from the electi

election. american labor has been crushed by shipping jobs to china. president trump said i might sanction companies that ship jobs from federal contracts. a pretty clear political play, right? >> i don't see the president as making a political play. i listened very carefully to his press conference. i think this is the kinds of theme that he's developing for the next two months as we head into the election. he's trying to establish a sharp difference and a sharp difference from his opponent. it's clear on policy issue. he's trying to run down the list of where the differences exist. i think that line, that if biden wins, china wins. there's deep area natural cyst that we need to do about that. the president does have a china policy right out of the white house. he's been tougher on trade. he's helped the american farmer, he's helped the american worker. these are hard things that have
11:17 am
to be looked at. they weren't being done during the obama-biden years. doesn't mean that they didn't have their own china policy but it does mean that this president has the developing that is very different from theirs. >> guys, we appreciate you breaking this down. obviously a lot in that press conference. took about 45 minutes. there's guests on the other side of the break. thanks. >> thanks, leland. >> thank you. we'll toss on a new round of coronavirus stimulus remains stalled. the two sides still not budging. so can we expect to see any progress on capitol hill this week? that's up next. to severe psoriasis, little things can become your big moment. that's why there's otezla. otezla is not a cream. it's a pill that treats plaque psoriasis differently. with otezla, 75% clearer skin is achievable. don't use if you're allergic to otezla. it may cause severe diarrhea, nausea or vomiting.

president to have a press conference on the north portico of the white house. he spoke for a little under an hour many times referenced joe biden his running made. also unusual for a sitting president to do so at the white house. we saw what happened at the rnc several weeks ago. the big topic today -- first of all, he came out talking about the economy and the economic gains that you just mentioned. the big topic the president discussed is a potential covid-19 vaccine. the president teased to it the american people here saying that he believes that one will be available and then he said before, a special day you know what it is. another time arthel, he mentioned the month of october. a lot of people speculating this could be a potential october surprise. president trump also hitting vice presidential candidate and california senator kamala harris for on-camera over the weekend saying that she would not take a vaccine at this point. she believes it rushed for political purposes.
11:24 am
here's what she had to say followed by the president criticizing senator harris. listen here, arthel. >> his priority was to do whatever he thought was politically expedient. so no, i would not trust his word. i would trust the word of scientists but not donald trump. >> immediately apologize for the reckless anti-vaccine rhetoric that they are talking right now, talking about endangering lives and undermines science and what is happening is all of a sudden you'll have this incredible vaccine. because of that fake rhetoric. it's a political rhetoric. that's all it is. now they've seen we've done an incredible job and speed like nobody has seen before. >> the president also added, arthel, he's been in the touch of certain companies, pfizer, to talk about a potential vaccine. a little curious.
11:25 am
president trump did say several times, did talk a little bit about a surprise. he mentioned the month of october and mentioned a date, which leads everybody to believe is election day when he said a very special day. you know what it is. he is insisting any vaccine coming out is not related to political pressure. he wants to just get things done as quickly as possible and as safely as possible though many other medical experts are waiting to see exactly what this means. arthel? >> david spunt. thanks very much for that wrap-up from the white house. now we're going to bring our panel back in. roger and kyron with us. the president covered a lot of topics at that press conference. he did speak about the stimulus stall that is happening in d.c. that is what i want to talk to you -- with you guys about. so first of all, who or which sides that the right tools to unclog the flow of more stimulus to the american people that are

among -- talking about among those the 13.6 million people that are still unemployed. you have small business owners that are hurting. kyron, i'll start with you and then roger, your take. >> yeah, it has to be a bipartisan effort with the previous stimulus bill. we've seen remarkable bipartisanship in this arena when it comes down to voting, this one is particularly difficult because we're getting close to a presidential election and, you know, the charge, the president is using politics when the other side is. if you look at the targeted bill that steve mnuchin, our treasury secretary is putting forth, he's saying that we want to help the american worker but we can't bail out everything that has happened. we can't bail out all of the american cities. we can't pile on everything and to one bill. there's an attempt to get the economy moving even more.
11:27 am
look what has happened when we shut down the american economy, there was a sense that we would have maybe 25 or 35% unemployment. that didn't happen. we're down to 8.4%. there's an expectation of 3 to 4% unemployment before this year is over. it's coming from a more targeted approach. that is the debate right now. >> all right. roger, you hear that side. i want to hear what you think. who is really causing this stall on the stimulus? >> of course. i agree with a lot of what she just said in terms of bipartisanship. something this massive with this urgent of need, it has to bring everyone to the table. i think both sides have to continue to give some. much credit has to go to a fox reporter there. i believe it was a fox reporter, maybe the one that you just touched base with that asked the president where has he been. why is he awol during this? when this got really difficult, the i alone can fix it became

one of the things that i would like to see is more context for the actual words. it's notable i thought that when -- even john kelly thought that president trump was making a half handed effort to be admiring of his son when they were standing by his son's grave when he said i don't get it. what is in it for them. that is probably what president trump was doing, trying to make a compliment. it was only later that president -- that john kelly is said to have decided that this is a character flaw in president trump. clearly unless there's some sort of defeat here, john kelly didn't say this himself -- >> what you're saying context -- excuse me. the president in his press conference that we carried. listen, i get your point. you're saying that context is king. i think that's what you're telling me. so now i ask you, what if the sources go on report publicly? would that add credibility to their claims? would you believe their
