jillian: donald trump issues a warning to iran over the alleged assassination plot against a us ambassador. todd: "fox and friends first" continues. you are watching "fox and friends first" on tuesday morning. shannon: let's begin with this weather alert, hurricane sally inching closer to the gulf coast very slowly come millions in the path of the storm and its life-threatening flooding. >> hundreds of miles of coastline under storm watches and warnings, janice steen tracking at all. what is the latest. >> janice: we have the 5 am advisory and it has weakened a little bit but as i mentioned last hour doesn't matter what the category of the storm is, the main event is the water. we could receive 10-20-30 inches of insulated rainfall along the eastern gulf coast. that will be the main threat and because the storm is only moving
2:01 am
2 to 3 miles an hour it is going to be a prolonged event, very dangerous life-threatening event is what the national hurricane center is saying. there is, it will have her offshore for the next 24-36 hours. we might have technical landfall for the next 24-36 hours but regardless of landfall doesn't matter. the results are the same. some of these areas could receive 69 inches of storm surge, water continuously pounding the coastline and isolated spots of 30 inches of rain, this will be similar to what texas had with harvey a couple years ago, we all remember the catastrophic damage harvey brought to the texas gulf coast so flooded visors are posted from new orleans to the florida panhandle and well inland. this is a story will be talking about today through thursday and
2:02 am
friday. very slow-moving and that is the biggest danger. the biggest threat from these topical systems is not necessarily the wind but the water. this is a prolonged water event. >> one of the maps you should look like the water will collect in that area with no out that if it goes thursday and friday that will be really tough. we appreciate it. >> some places may see feet of rain. i'm curious, you've been around town. of you seen people evacuating already? >> interesting to note a lot of the people we have talked to have not. a lot of them compared it to hurricane katrina, we are not leaving. that's what they told me verbatim. following on what todd said. a lot of officials have told me,
2:03 am
louisiana, alabama, mississippi that the drainage and levee systems are going to be tested during this because it is so slow-moving, 2 to 3 miles per hour, superslow. don't know if you can see because it is very dark but i drew a line 12 minutes ago, 56 feet from the water's edge and 12 minutes ago, that is covered with water to give you an idea how quickly this water is moving up. i talked to a police officer who said there is the potential that 10, 15 yards from where i am standing the this road, the national hurricane center did say do not think lightly about this. this has the potential to strengthen in those warm waters. todd: certainly hope people have heeded the advice, not a lot of people you spoke to seem to have. we appreciate it.

jillian: shocking new video shows the dramatic moments after two los angeles sheriff's deputies were shot at point blank range. deputies frantically helping each other as they call for help. todd: no other word but schilling as authorities increase the reward for information on the gunmen still on the loose right now. >> a massive manhunt underway this morning as authorities search for the man who ambush two unsuspecting officers in compton. the reward for information leading to his arrest just raised to 200,$000. new surveillance video showing the second after the deputies were shot, they are seen hiding behind a column where they held each other as one of them, a 31-year-old mom frantically calls for help, or words barely audible after she was shot in the job.

>> this has shown we have a pervasive problem in the rochester police department, one that views everything through the eyes of the badge about the citizens we serve. >> reporter: singletary was set to retire in two weeks, mayor warren is calling for a federal investigation into how prove that case was handled. >> chicago police officers seeing a spike in targeted attack from cops compared to previous years. >> if you've got a question about what we are doing to reduce violence, we are risking everything. 65 chicago cops have been shot at or shot this year. >> 10 of those officers were hit by gunfire, 5 times more than in recent years. chicago seeing a rise in gun violence. this weekend steve: 5 shootings with 10 murders. >> reporter: dan bondgino calls

2:13 am
thank you for joining me to make a case for each candidate. thank you each for being here. let's start with unemployment because as you can see this is the number one thing voters are concerned about according to the latest poll, 87% of voters are concerned, make your case for why joe biden is the one to handle this. >> joe biden built an economy with barack obama after the 2008 crash, a great economic number which donald trump has given to the ground. joe biden's record on the economy since he has been in the senate and as vice president has been strong and a strong economic plan going forward. jillian: we heard this conversation at the present was handed this economy. would you argue that point?
2:14 am
>> i don't think it is true. obama needs to be given credit for getting us out of the recession but it is hard to take unemployment numbers from 6% to 3% versus 12% to 6% like obama did. the fact that this means his policies of deregulation, tax cuts really unleashing the innovation in the economy and entrepreneurs was working and the pandemic obviously put us on hold and you see that reflected in the poll numbers, the fact that people are as concerned about the economy and jobs is tied to where we are with the coronavirus pandemic and the result of the shutdowns but we are seeing people feel more confident about where we are going and donald trump receives high marks on getting us back on track from where we were with low unemployment number
2:15 am
regardless of where we are. sean: you heard about the coronavirus with 83% of voters concerned about it. what is joe biden's plan, how will he handle this? >> there would be a strategy, donald trump does not have a strategy. a national strategy of how to do that. that's why we have the most deaths in the world, the highest cases. jillian: what is a strategy? wanting to hear there would be a strategy but with 50 days to go people want to hear it. >> they've heard it, it is on his website, to have a national strategy that would mandate masks, get us back to manufacturing things we need, at the end of the day people have to realize donald trump has failed, we almost have 200,000 americans who lost their life because he tried to push the button on the states rather than be the president of the united states, take responsibility and
2:16 am
lead. he is an abject failure as an american president because he hasn't done the job. everybody knows it and poll numbers reflect it. jillian: strong words and you to hear a lot of people, when people make the argument, look how early he shutdown travel from china, the site certain examples of how he did do certain things earlier. if he gets a second term how is he going to handle the coronavirus? >> his administration is heavily banking on therapeutics and vaccines. that's why there's an emphasis on removing the red tape that exists in federal government to get these therapeutics moving and as long as there is confidence in our healthcare system in the ability to treat the virus that is where they laid a lot of their faith in overcoming this. we see other countries shutdown
2:17 am
early, they shutdown longer but still seeing cases tech backup now that they have reopened. i don't think any country had a good handle on this virus. that being said some of trump's communications stumbled at the beginning, hindered his ability. you see in the polling, fox news's fall but he's gained momentum on this. in the last couple weeks people are feeling more comfortable and shockingly people feel comfortable and more confident in their state's responses than the federal response that even though they are not giving donald trump credit for how they are feeling about the coronavirus at this moment as we head into the debate which this will be a big topic they are feeling very confident that their states handled it well which means donald trump's strategy of pushing it to the state and letting them make the best call for their people kind of worked. jillian: short answers from each of you, crime and violence is a
2:18 am
conversation that has been in the forefront lately, 64% of voters concerned about it. joe biden and kamala harris took criticism for not condemning the violence soon enough or even talking about it at the dnc. this is where they have an uphill climb. what do you say? >> the uphill climb is on top of the hill, donald trump is trailing, this is a number one issue, he stirs up violence and then says it will be worse under the biden administration. we need to look at the facts of this matter and now the polling is indicating more americans believe joe biden would deliver more law and order than donald trump, donald trump misled the american public, coronavirus, he knew how devastating it was, he knew how infectious it was. yet he didn't do anything, he pushed it to the states because he does not take responsibility in the job of the president, the buck stops there.
2:19 am
when in donald trump's casey pushed the buck on to someone else. jillian: i want to give lauren the final word. some say the president coming down tough online and order is what they want to see. >> the defend the police message unsettled people and brought home republicans who were not enthusiastic about donald trump's second term but because democrats handled the d fund the police movement so poorly they gave enthusiasm for donald trump heading into the election. jillian: see you both soon. todd: 19 after the era, democrats sending mixed messages about the president's response to the west coast wildfires. >> i want to thank you and acknowledge --

calling him a climate arsonist with the former chair of the republican party, no one will confuse newsom for being a trump supporter but my take away from this is trump and newsom acknowledge this is key to all of this, joe biden sticking to the climate change climate change argument. to you agree? >> it is laughably because trump has been president for 3 years but this problem of forest management has been building for 50 years, got worse in the last 20. we had deadly fires, the legislature on forest management. the trump administration struggled more than any in history, the trump
