garbage they spew about how people can live peacefully without police. there idea of reform is cutting police, taking tools away from the police officers to maintain law and order and what they have done is sent a clear message to criminals, violent criminals that minneapolis is open for business. you have shootings on the rise, violent assaults on the rise and now they have the audacity to question the police chief about why is this happening? clearly it is because of what you have done. clearly this is what elections are all about, why people have to take close attention to these radical left policies and incompetent leaders that put our cities at risk. jillian: you mentioned crime is on the rise and a lot of people noticing the uptick in crime. some of them are just starting to notice. look at these numbers, 2019-2020, a 1-year difference, almost 81% rise in arson, 90%

rise in homicide in minneapolis, robberies up 37.2%, assault on the rise, 7.5%. do you fear how bad these could be or how it could get if nothing is done? >> 100% increase in homicides in one year. i don't have any fear about how bad the violence might get. it is already here and it will only get worse. unfortunately until you get leadership that recognizes you have to pick a side on this. this isn't about peaceful protests. this is about violent criminals let loose in our cities and on our citizens. you have to have leadership that backs the police. the minneapolis police force have 800 police officers, the police chief told the city council in the last couple days he needs another 400 by 2025. i think he needs more right now. think what they have done to the

morale of police officers, they've not just embolden the criminals but told police officers we don't have your back. todd: with 46 days until the election the question many in your party are asking, can you flip the house? as you can see that does not look great on the surface. it does appear republicans would need 17 feet to flip the house. do you think you can do it? >> with democrats in the majority, in 2018 on a platform they were going to be moderate problem solvers, work with republicans and work with this administration. they've done none of that. they have been the most obstructionist, the most partisan majority ever in the us house of representatives. they have accomplished a thing. i feel very bullish on the election. we won a special election in los angeles a couple months back. nobody expected us to win that seat. that is a bellwether for the

so far, do you think this makes the debates coming up more important especially the first one? >> no doubt the debates are critical for every american to watch and understand. an opportunity to hold joe biden accountable. for 47 years he has been unable to be held accountable by the american people in the media in terms of his horrible policies, political gaffes, bigoted comments. he needs to be held accountable and the american people need to know what joe biden believes and why he believes it because we have seen what donald trump is done, the most accessible president in united states history and the most accessible candidate to the media, the american people, is campaigning good. we should have more debates, not less. jillian: we want your opinion on this new poll that shows support for black lives matter dropped

todd: the doj considering charges against city officials after weeks of violent unrest in portland. this is what the doj spokesman said, looking at the way portland officials were handling or not handling the riots and violence. in the real world of how this works if these charges are brought would they stick? >> almost a political question, statutes do apply, the aiding and betting, rioting and looting does apply and it would not surprise me if there is a preliminary inquiry by the fbi underway in the doj, but whether you could actually in this political climate bring those charges. todd: what consequences are attached? jail? >> jail time. under official rights, and the constitutional rights. it carries 10 years.

>> janice: let's talk about sally, we are kind of done although we have potential for some showers and thunderstorms in the forecast in parts of the mid-atlantic cold front sweeping the rest of sally offshore. here is hurricane teddy, category 4 storm, 130 mile-per-hour sustained winds. we expect it to weaken a little bit but then come close to bermuda and computer models show more of the maritime province event but certainly main will keep an eye on teddy, potentially could impact parts of new england as we head into next week. one a reliable forecast models brings it towards the maritime provinces of canada but main will have to watch this. this is tropical depression 22, we expect this to become wilfred, our last named storm on

i have no faith that school ever actually opens for in person learning. todd: september 21st was the day that everything was going to reopen. now take a look on your screen. here is what it is looking like october 1st for middle and high school students is the delay right there. september 29th for kindergarten through fifth grade. what amazing germ free panacea is going to be achieved with this delay? >> that's exactly it. i was on this show, i think, last week saying september 21st date wasn't happening. i will say it again september 29th or october 1st is an extreme stretch. i would love to be wrong. i would love for them to suddenly get it together and open schools. i don't see what changes in the next few days that makes that possible. they say they need 4500 new teachers before september 29th and then another 6,000 or so for october 1st. we can't grow teachers, so it's not happening. jillian: karol, what do you think the reason something behind. this a lot of people, and rightfully so, make the argument schools and officials have had

months to get themselves prepared for this school year to get their plan in place. why haven't they done that? >> well, i would say that the teachers union really is very strong in new york city and mayor bill de blasio is folding to them at every turn. is he a leftist politician and is he incapable of fighting back to them. i think another point that i don't see made very often is where is the conquering hero governor cuomo? where is he to step in and saying what should happen with schools. schools around the state are open in ohio and west chester in new york city we don't have schools open and that's okay and the governor is quiet about it. it's all encompassing problem. governor cuomo put schools in phase 4 at the beginning. i complained about that. because i thought phase 4 was too late for schools to be opening. so here we are middle of september, no hope of any kind of schooling for some time. todd: karol along those lines this is a national show fox and friends first. every single day we have a story

about de blasio doing something moronic. my question is there never seems to be accountability on anything that he does. why is that? >> well, i fully agree with you. i think that de blasio is a special kind of terrible leader. but, actually, this is a national problem. cities across the country have not opened schools for in person learning it. just seems like these cities have put schools last. and i don't understand how we open to anything in these cities. how are bars open? how are nail salons open but schools aren't? it is a new york centric problem because we have done it worse than anybody else. the rest of the cities across america are having problems with this as well. jillian: about 10 seconds left. would you consider leaving new york city? i know a lot of people have. >> it's the first time my husband andry halfway serious about that. we are new yorkers. if you don't open schools that's a rock bottom we need to be here. the most important thing to us. jillian: wow, karol, thank you very much for joining us.
