i think it is important to put this into historical context. it's obviously a serious situation. let's talk about how serious it is historically. when was the last time the president operated from a presidential suite at walter reed? >> well, you go back to eisenhower in 1956 when it was an election he was in the hospital for 21 days. it was june. not this close to the election. i was signing bills from the hospital. that comes to mind something more modern history. really we have never seen this before. this combination combination of a president leading a pandemic, getting sick, and getting sick this close to an election where his name is on the ballot. so this is very in that sense. will: i heard it mention that president reagan was the last time. he saw the president spend significant time at walter reed. that wasn't for illness that was for assassination attempt. is that correct the last time a president spending significant time at walter reed?
3:47 am
>> well, president reagan was at walter reed later after assassination attempt for procedure. after assassination attempt he was at george washington university hospital for a period of time and then recovered the rest of the time at the white house. that really was, i think the last time we have had an extended stay for a president at a hospital was when reagan was shot. will: i appreciate that of course, i appreciate that clarification. so you point out that it's highly unusual, historically significant. not just for the president to fall ill and to be sent to walter reed but the timing in context of the election. but take me back now beyond president reagan's situation. beyond operations. when was the last time we saw a president deal with an illness like this? can we contextualize exactly what it is in presidential history when we have had to deal with a contagious disease or an illness for the president? >> right.
3:48 am

that's why it's so important that as we approach this election, if the democrats continue to push more election decisions into the courts, then that means you need to have courts that are capable of handling case. you don't want a supreme court that could be divided in an election like this that's so important. >> congressman, remains to be seen how this will unfold. unfortunately that's all the time we have for today. thank you so much for joining us this morning. >> good to be with you. jedediah: thank you. a live look at walter reed medical center as prayers pour in for president trump. we hear from world leaders sending their well-wishes. plus dr. nicole saphier on what the next 72 hours will look like for the president's recovery. don't miss it.

because the testing is imperfect and even though you have a whole room of people that has been tested questions arise when were they tested and when did they develop symptoms and when was the virus active in their body these are all questions the medical community has been struggling really hard to answer over the past few months with so many people catching this virus throughout the country. now, the question is how will the campaigns proceed? , and the trump campaign has come out and said for right now, for obvious reasons there will be a lot of virtual events. biden has continued campaigning in-person, in michigan. he was seen there yesterday. he was wearing a mask, gave some commentary about president trump and on policy as well take a listen to some of what he had to say. >> i know a lot of people around here are tired of feeling overlooked and disrespected. folks who worry about healthcare , with the affordable care act still be there for them why? why they ask? will i be among the 100 million americans who could lose the

moment other than the obvious infectiousness of coronavirus. did he get it while not wearing a mask? would a mask have prevented it? would he have been protected 100 %? jedediah you point out the testing is not 100% fool proof you're absolutely right and by the way neither are masks we can told that thought in our head while understanding masks are a good recommendation and the better preventive requirements but we have to understand right now we do not know how the president acquired this there for it's inappropriate to play the blame game, and, it comes with political risk to do so if the left chooses to go down the road of blaming those who acquire coronavirus. byron york warned people, warned the left about that a little bit earlier this is fascinating listen to this. >> americans want the president to get better. there's no doubt that they wish the president well in dealing with coronavirus. i think democrats have to be very careful in blaming the
6:12 am
president for catching coronavirus because millions of americans have done the same thing and faced the same challenges, so i think democrats need to be very very careful. they have a natural instinct to attack, especially in the midst of a presidential campaign, but this is a pretty sensitive subject. jedediah: yeah, and i think, will, you bring up an interesting point about the blame game and there are obviously people that will be rushing with baited breath to no matter what blame the president, who will want to see him lose the election that is the agenda. there are also people who i think from a public health perspective are going to come in and just ask questions. you know, ask questions about rallies, ask questions about large crowds. i asked the same questions about the large gathering of protester s in manhattan through the city streets and whether or not that was wise in the midst of a pandemic as i asked about the rallies so i think that's just an important point, not for political reason, but just because this is a virus that we're learning about every day and the goal is to mitigate the
6:13 am
spread, right? so if we learn something new that can help us to do that better, next week, than we did last week, then let's implement it. let's figure it out and work on it so that's where that angle comes from for some, not for all but for some for sure myself included. pete: jed the virus only matters if it's a trump rally or a black lives matter riot doesn't count, time off. we even heard doctors effective ly say as much there's a pass for that. i love what byron york just said , be careful what you impune the president for because he sees himself and rightfully so as an essential leader for the united states of america to every truck driver, police officer, nurse, grocery worker, whose had to go to work, who can't sit on skype, or a zoom call, has to go out there, and has contracted the virus or a family member has, they relate to this president whose been a worker, not a hider, and they're going to say hey if he can recover quickly and get back to work he fought through it too i relate to that and i respect him for that let god pray he
6:14 am
does get through it that way and we're monitoring that all morning as well so be careful is an important lesson, will, of that interview had with byron york which is fantastic but we have to move on with additional news. coming up we just learned a third senator has tested positive for covid-19. fox news medical contributor dr. mark siegel on efforts to slow the spread and what the next 72 hours hold for president trump and recovery at walter reed, we'll bring that to you as well. don't forget your lunch!

6:18 am
to the treatment that the president is receiving at walter reed including the medication medications that have been administered thus far. >> good morning, jed. i think that it's very interesting what he's getting and you can make a case for each thing. the remdesivir that was added has been shown in a study in the new england journal of medicine to decrease the amount of time it takes to recover by about three days in over 1,000 patients. that's in people that have moderate illness. now, that's another reason he would have gone to the hospital by the way, jed because it's administered intravenously and a close friend of his who spoke to him last night said that the president told me that the president was feeling well, a little tired, and kind of bothered he had to go to the hospital but he felt he could work there. even when he's tired he has more energy than a lot of people. some of the other cocktails he's getting there, pepcid, the stomach medication, looks like in some studies that it decreases the risk of having severe covid-19, maybe because
6:19 am
covid-19 does better in an acid environment we're not sure. zinc seems to decrease viral spread. the monoclonal antibodies he got are in the experimental stage but a study some information out just last week shows that it too decreases the amount of virus. now the less virus you have the less likely you're going to have severe complications. will: dr. siegel, what do you expect the 72 hours the next couple days to being loo like for the president? how long do you expect him to be in the hospital? >> i think it's going to be observational. i fully expect him to be in the hospital for several days don't forget he has a working office suite in the hospital there it's precautionary. monitoring his oxygen level a good sign he's not taking oxygen right now, per his physician that's a really good sign but that's something that needs to be monitored and also the risk of blood clots and to speak to something that was just said before i came on, this is not a time for political divisiveness
6:20 am
this is a time to bring out the best in people to wish well the commander-in-chief and the president. this is the time for that and to jedediah's point it's also a time for people to rethink what practices they're doing on the street. this can be a time to learn to wear more masks and have more distancing, and wash your hands more and watch out for this virus more, because the fall is coming and the virus may spread even more. w dr. mark siegel thank you very much for your insight this morning we appreciate it. >> thanks, good to see you. will: you got it good to see you too coming up the biden team says there's no slowing down now , with attempts to play catch up after months of virtual basement campaigning, but is it too little too late? we'll ask a biden surrogate coming up next. you're strong. you power through chronic migraine - 15 or more headache days a month, ...each lasting 4 hours or more. botox® prevents headaches in adults with chronic migraine.

will: we're back with quick headlines. nearly 20 hours of grand jury recordings are released in the brionna taylor case one of the officers saying in the recordings that taylor's boyfriend claims she was the one who opened fire on police. >> he said something about there's a woman inside and he said she moved and she had a .9- millimeter. will: another officer also claims in the recordings police identified themselves several times for entering taylor's apartment. >> the response we announced ourselves, please come to the door. will: the grand jury indicted former louisville detective saying he blindly opened fire

outside taylor's apartment. >> overnight, an fbi agent is shot while serving an arrest warrant outside a detroit restaurant. the suspect was wanted on federal weapons charges, witnesses say the agent and suspect exchanged gunfire in the restaurant parking lot. the suspect was shot and killed. the agent is in the hospital and he's expected to survive. jedediah? jedediah: thanks, will. the biden campaign behind schedule after drastically scal ing back events in the run- up to the election well now just one month out, the former vice president is jumping back on the trail with no plans to slow down his schedule. just hours after testing negative for coronavirus, but is it too late to resonate with voters let's ask biden's surrogate and author of "raising our hands" jenna arnold. thank you so much for joining us today. so how comfortable are you in light of the president trump's diagnosis now, of having covid-19, how comfortable are you with having vice president biden out on the campaign trail,
6:26 am
in-person, talking to people what do you say? >> well the biden campaign as has the entire democratic slate for many many months now, been very conservative as they've approached how they're campaigning particularly with the public in light of this very unknown pandemic, so the way that the campaign is behaving is no different today than it was five days ago than it was 10 days ago. ppe has been worn by all key members, all volunteers. biden, as you saw, wore a mask up on to the debate stage and everybody representing the democratic team and the audience in cleveland was also wearing a mask, so nothings really changed in terms of strategy overall because we've known they've known all along how deadly and dangerous this was. jedediah: yeah, well jenna nothing may have changed in terms of strategy when it comes to health and ppe but something has definitely changed in terms of approach because joe biden wasn't doing these in-person events and now there's talk the
6:27 am
biden camp will resume door knocking i don't know if that's accurate or you can lend any color to that today, but that would definitely be a change so the question is why? was there some sense that there was something missing? is there some concern that voter s haven't been properly reached out to? why the change? >> i think it's just a real opportunity to make sure that voters understand why this administration is not working on the benefit of all americans, whether it be because of taxes whether it be because of covid and these constant left and right turnings around how we're approaching the subject, and so because the biden campaign hasn't been changing any of their conservative safety base tactics, they're comfortable going out to communities and the way that they're doing that is they're texting constituents in battleground states giving them a heads up since there's a knock-on their door, volunteers are being tested through temperature checks, symptom checks before they actually hit the streets, so there's proper distance being used, long form
6:28 am
conversation i would argue is well beyond the six foot distance but this has nothing to do with whether or not they're concerned about what's happening coming november 3. i think this is just holding the line and making sure americans are hearing the right message. jedediah: well jenna, all of these safety measures that are being utilized and i commend them, could have been utilized before right? all of these things could have been implemented so the question is why wait? if it was important to get that message about healthcare, or about taxation, or whatever it may be to voters, was that importance not there a few months ago when the trump campaign was taking a very strong lead in getting out and talking about those very issues you're citing to voters in person? >> sorry just to be clear, i'm referencing trump's not paying taxes or paying $750 in taxes, or the sudden turn on how he's relating to covid and it's suddenly a thing that he's been diagnosed. jedediah: regardless though. but on any issue, on any issue if we're going to say it's important to bring the issues to
6:29 am
voters and i think both campaign s will argue this it's true then by why was that urgency not there a few months ago. >> because the biden campaign built out a smart virtual campaign so many constituents were being talked to. the biden campaign knows whose showing up and they are very much focusing on the key zip codes and current potential swing voters and that transition now that they know exactly who those people are, has to be within a 10-12-foot radius now, it can't just be on a hey, come and have a zoom conversation with us. so it's because they have gotten so much smarter that they understand exactly where those people are and so they are going to them in-person and i would also say there's been increasing science that has come out about covid. it is clear now that if you wear a mask the risk of contracting covid at a six foot, 10-foot or even further 20-foot radius you know that the risks are decreased, so when biden was being conservative before, it's
6:30 am
because they might not have had the same information that they do today. jedediah: yeah. yeah, and i still think that it's clear though as to whether that delay in terms of outreach to voters will have an impact and we'll see. that will be one of the things that unfolds with the election results jenna arnold thank you so much. >> i just want to be clear i don't think it was the delay. i think it's very strategic. jedediah: okay, we can agree to disagree on that one but thank you so much. >> sounds good. jedediah: still ahead, covid infecting leaders both in the white house and on capitol hill as we learn another senator tested positive this morning. we talk to four congressmen who had covid-19. plus the push to get testing in place on capitol hill, that's coming up next.
6:34 am
pete: back with a live look at walter reed hospital where president trump is undergoing treatment for covid-19. pete: the president's doctor says the commander-in-chief is doing very well, and resting comfortably, after finishing his first dose of remdesivir therapy his health will be monitored as he continues to run the country from the hospital's presidential suite. jedediah: the president tweeting from the hospital overnight saying, "going well, i think. thank you to all. love." this as we just learned a third senator ron johnson of wisconsin , has tested positive for covid-19. over to you, will. will: thanks, jed and as we learn, of new cases on capitol hill, a top republican is calling on house speaker nancy pelosi to implement coronavirus
6:35 am
testing. our next guest, are all lawmakers who have recovered from covid-19. here with a very packed panel we have congressman tom rice, morgan griffith and mario diaz balart joining me now gentlemen thank you all for being here, you've all tested positive for coronavirus, congressman diaz, we'll start with you tell me about your experiences really quickly and maybe how we might learn from you what the president is going through. >> look, i had three weeks where i felt horrible. i had a low grade fever for , again about two and a half weeks , and the first four or five days were the worst, where i had a more intense fever feeling pretty bad but i'll tell you all i worked through the process. i didn't stop working i was on the phone obviously, and so i was able to keep working i was able to still do the job that i was required to do. will: congressman rice, tell me. we're wondering right now, where did the president acquire coronavirus? that takes a lot of effort in contact tracing, and really
6:36 am
doing some investigative work. were you able, ever, to figure out where you contracted coronavirus? >> no i really wasn't. i suspect it was from my son who had been out to a restaurant in the recent. we were pretty isolated up until the time that i got it. i want to say though, that you know, the president is out around a lot of people and i'm glad that my commander-in-chief is not hiding in his basement in fear of this , when he expects first responders to go to work, i'm glad that a real leader does what he expects other people to do as well. will: and congressman gomert, all four of you having acquired coronavirus, i understand are asking for greater testing on capitol hill. you'd like to see speaker pelosi implement greater testing is that moving forward? where are you on that process? >> well i'm not so sure about more testing, because that's what speaker pelosi had been demanding for months and now that we're getting it, and we're finding out there's tons of
6:37 am
people that have had it and that are asymptomatic now they're saying this president is doing a horrible job, look at all of the people that are getting it. well they probably were getting it before, we just didn't know. what's important is to know if you have it, if you suspect you've got symptoms then check. now i was fortunate to have caught it very early on, simply because i was going on air force one with the president, if i hadn't had it but and the hydroxychloroquine regimens helped a lot and i think the president with what he is taking the cocktail he's taking, he knows that a lot of doctors will not prescribe acq even though it's safer than iboprofen so i think he's trying to set an example, but more testing is not the answer, i don't think. contract tracing as some doctors have said once you hit over 1 million people with it you
6:38 am
aren't able to contact trace everything. you just need to be careful and especially not spread it to people that have co morbidity, and pre-existing conditions. those are people we need to really protect. will: let me go around the horn really quickly on this out of curiosity i asked congressman rice real quick back to you, congressman. did you find out were you ever able to narrow down where you acquired coronavirus? >> no, there was no way to know i mean, i'm all over my district will: right. >> i could have got it from anywhere. i found it interesting i got it at a time where i was wearing a mask more than i had in the preceding months and i really don't know. will: what about you congressman griffith? i haven't yet asked you, what was your experience and do you know where you acquired coronavirus? >> i had fairly mild symptom, a fever for about a day and then i was fatigued for maybe about a week and i don't know where i got coronavirus. i was wearing my mask fairly regularly. the only time that i didn't was
6:39 am
when i was speaking at a microphone and yet, i got it, and it was interesting the people who were there with me at the press conference did not get it, but i was wearing my mask most of the time and have no idea where i got it from and i'll tell you this , echoing what tim rice was saying. bottom line is this president, president trump will do more work while in quarantine than joe biden not being in quarantine. will: well all four of you have obviously spent a lot of time on capitol hill and around the president. i'll go back to you congressman diaz. are you surprised with all of the testing around the president , all of the protective measures put in place around the president, that it seems like not just him but many in his circle are now coming down with coronavirus? are you surprised that we are where we are? >> look the president and his team are exceedingly careful but i will tell you that i was exceedingly careful when i got it. i have no idea, you know, who gave it to me. i got it when i was in d.c.
6:40 am
early on and so the key here is to be careful, to use common sense, and not panic, but be as careful as possible, particularly when you're around people who have pre-existing conditions who might be susceptibile to this , again, where this is more dangerous, but common sense. it be ludacris to have a national, for example, mask mandate because there are huge differences in different geographic areas but being careful, using common sense, protecting those who are vulnerable is i think the best thing we can do to make sure that the country moves forward. will: one of the obvious big implications from this and the fall out from the coronavirus has been the economic impact across this country from the shutdowns and the unemployment rate and many on capitol hill have been working on passing a covid-19 or extending the covid-19 relief package. congressman rice where are we on this? it doesn't seem to be moving forward we're looking at furloughs at least in the airline industry right in the face, where are we on relief
6:41 am
>> i think speaker pelosi should have us in washington until we get this relief package passed. every day americans are struggl ing, small businesses struggling to survive, and we need to do what we can to nullif y that economic impact. i think it's a shame she sent us all home yesterday. we should be in washington working with the white house and with the senate to get this resolved and until we get a package that helps small businesses. will: hopefully. >> and take the politics out of it and just work on what's going to help american families instead of insisting on making political points. will: right, a lot of people need help right now and i'll leave the last question to you congressman gohmert. what is the biggest takeaway from the news that the president has acquired coronavirus, many on the left play the blame game about masks and rallies or whatever they want to pin the blame on but as you look at this situation, what is the biggest takeaway? what does it tell you about where we sit in the united
6:42 am
states right now? >> well that anybody can get it , and those that are making fun of him, there's a good chance that they could get it as well and so it is just to be smart and i think the cocktail i was taking, non- alcoholic was very helpful, but just be careful. when i was capable of spreading it i was exceedingly careful and we need to do that as well, if you suspect you got it, then for heavens sake, get tested they will test you if you think you may have it and then you don't spread it around. that's a big takeaway, but we're all in this together. it's time to stop the hate. i had people sending messages, you know, whatnot, but apparently whoever they prayed to is not as strong as the god of healing, but we're in this together. let's work together, and not be
6:43 am
so hateful and mean-spirited. will: i think the biggest takeaway is we're obviously dealing with a very infectious disease and as you all four pointed out take your personal precautions, congressmen all of you, happy that you recovered thank you for sharing your experience with us congressman tom rice, louis gohmert and thank you so much and take care. up next president trump's diagnosis sending socks tumbling as job growth slows in september so just how concerned should we be? charles payne is up next. bipolar depression. it's a dark, lonely place. this is art inspired by real stories of people living with bipolar depression. emptiness. a hopeless struggle. the lows of bipolar depression can disrupt your life and be hard to manage. latuda could make a real difference in your symptoms. latuda was proven to significantly reduce bipolar depression symptoms, and in clinical studies, had no substantial impact on weight. now i'm feeling connected.

will: stocks ending the week lower on the heels of president trump's covid-19 diagnosis, this as the labor department released its last jobs report before the presidential election there you see it right there, 661,000 jobs added to the economy in september. the unemployment rate dropping to under 8% to 7.9. here to react is the host of "
6:47 am
making money" on fox business charles payne. charles thanks for being here if you would break down the meaning of these numbers but then i want to get into the month ahead. what do these numbers tell us about the strength of our economy at this moment? charles: the headline number i would ignore because the real details are a lot, are encouraging. 87 7,000 jobs were created in the private sector and a lot are in these areas that actually, you want to see growth, construction, manufacturing, transportation and warehousing, good-paying strong job, you know the jobs that sort of reflect growth of the middle class, the heartland of america that was the great part of the jobs report. year-over-year wages grew 5.6%, that's a phenomenonal number. what i didn't like obviously where over 200,000 people in government losing their jobs and i think more worrisome for me too might be people are leaving the labor force almost 700,000,
6:48 am
4.4 million since february. so we're getting this sort of bifurcated thing where 92% of people who are looking o r want to work are working but these other folks are in predicaments where they are in lockdown states their businesses are closed right now forever, and they are sort of in limbo, so overall is one of the best jobs reports we ever had, but it's slowing from some of the other jobs reports since the pandemic began. pete: charles markets don't like in stability or lack of predictability. you've got president at walter reed, you've got the debates coming up, the scotus fight of course election day what are you looking for? what could continue to ignite our economic engine going forward? charles: i think the biggest thing that could happen is over the weekend somehow congress gets its act together and pushes forward another fiscal stimulus plan. it doesn't have to be 2.2 trillion, its got to be more than 300 billion, i've been saying from day one it should be $1.5 trillion because there are a lot of people who are chronic
