remarkable story continues to guide us all. thanks for watching. i'm jeannine pirro advocating for truth justice and the american way. justice has been ♪. president trump: i came here. wasn't feeling so well. i feel much better now. we're working hard to get me all the way back. i have to be back because we still have to make america great again. we've done an awfully good job of that. we still have steps to go. we have to finish that job. i will be back, i think i will be back soon. will: begin with a fox news alert, president trump releasing video of his covid-19 recovery saying he feels much better. jedediah: the white house sharing these photos of the president working from the presidential suite at walter reed medical center.

will: outside the hospital dozens of supporters held a prayer vigil for the president, said get well soon. welcome to "fox & friends" on this sunday morning. it is a weekend unlike most others, guys. welcome will and jed. stick with us four mornings long, four hours in the morning. it is early. we're getting used to it. i have coffee from the home brew of studio h. sometimes on saturday you end the show. you turn off news. will, you were watching the texas longhorns. my condolences. sorry. you forget about news. yesterday was the kind of day i was i can clicking back to fox news all day long. are there updates, what do we know. how is the president doing. good news. will: speculation, interpretation all throughout the day. social media was not the place to be for accurate accounting of the news of day.

jedediah, at the end of the day the president spoke for himself with the video. we can see exactly how he is feeling at this moment. jedediah: ultimately, that is the goal to get accurate information how the president is feeling, how his treatment is going. what we can expect the next coming days. particularly from doctors who are treating him. we'll head over to kristin fisher. she is live outside of walter reed hospital with more what the president is going through right now, his recovery. kristin, what is the latest? reporter: that video the white house released last night, president trump did himself on his twitter feed, so very typical of president trump it, really was quite reassuring because not only did he say he was feeling much better but he did acknowledge, he wasn't feeling all that great when they took him to the hospital on friday afternoon. he also noted that the next few days are going to be very critical. he called that the real test. so there was this real

acknowledgement from the president that, the next few days are really going to be a really pivotal point. that the doctors and his chief of staff had been stressing all day long. another encouraging sign. we got pictures from the white house showing president trump working inside of walter reed. we know he has been working inside of this executive suite set up especially for moments like this. late last night we got an update from the president's physician, dr. sean conley, president trump continues to do well having made substantial progress since his diagnosis. he is fever free, with oxygen, saturation of oxygen level 96 to 97 throughout the day. while not out of the woods, the team remains optimistic. that is welcome news. there had been some confusing statements earlier in the day. when president trump was admitted the white house said it was out of an abundance of caution. we know that the mild symptoms

son of the president. was on justice last night talked about what his father is doing while at walter reed. listen no i think everybody in the country has seen he is an absolute warrior every single day. whether it is this, he gets up, fights every single day. covid is very serious. obviously something affects a lot of people. something that hit him very hard and he spent 20, 25 minutes on the phone with him today. he sounded incredible the entire time was talking about the new aid package, talking about mitch mcconnell. he mentioned the airline workers. i think he wanted to thank them and never takes his foot off the gas. will: couple observations, what is clear the president's situation was serious. his temperature rose, his oxygen
3:07 am
levels went down. clearly there was concern within the white house and administration within the hospitals about the president's condition going into saturday. what is striking to me the president is being very realistic about his health status. you know the president has been openly someone who said he is a salesman. he is rosy. he is optimistic. he engaged in what he called harmless hyperbole at times. he is not doing that when it comes to the current health situation. the tone i get from both videos he put out, sometime very realistic what he is currently going through. i would say finally, jedediah, what is of note, no one on any side of the partisan aisle, no matter how much you want to indulge pictures of golf or someone plays golf can deny the president's work ethic over the campaign and governance trail. what is appears, jedediah, that continued while he is at the hospital. jedediah: i think it is really important to hear from him directly.
3:08 am
you know, as you mentioned, pete. there were some discrepancies i have to say. i was trying to foal this yesterday. everyone is trying to get out accurate information to figure out what's going on. everyone wants the president to do well. this virus is scary. i was following it. i was seeing conflicting statements. hard to get questions answered about the oxygenation level from the doctor initially. statement from mark meadows came out. you came out the with the whole story, there was an reason to send the president to the hospital. it was not just an abundance of caution. there was something going on. he is the president. people will want it straightforward, accurate information. they want it to be blunt. we want to know what is doing on with him. it is a different standard for one of us or any private citizen. i think the white house has to make a point. yes, let the president speak directly to the people as he has done. also be really clear aboarut abs information. when you do have that mixed messaging that comes out. it is frightening to people.
3:09 am
the media runs with a narrative that you can't trust the administration to give accurate information. you don't want that. you want people to be able to trust that. you want the media to properly do its job, report its administration, consistency from the doctors treating him, from the administration itself. that is super important right now as we watch the president's progress. pete: it is we have to remember as you said he is the president just like fda was the president. just like ronald reagan was the president. when they go through difficult times we don't deserve immediate knowledge not all the time in every particular way about everything affecting the president. some of those things are privileged information. some of those things don't need to be known by their adversaries t feels like the press, who president calls the enemy of the people nitpicks all day long just to find discrepancy sis to make the white house look bad as opposed to taking a pause, let the process weigh out, let the president get healthy.

speaking directly to the people at this time. what do you think? >> well i think it was a great move on his part it let us all see that he's fine. when i say he's fine i'm not saying he's not dealing with some effects of covid, but he's not laying in a bed with iv tubes and unable to talk this is donald trump as we know it. i'd hate to be his doctors. i mean, this is a guy that, you know, is trying to contain him is like trying to contain a bull with tight string. he does not sub due very well. he is energetic to the point that it's stunning. you know, people who are a fourth of his age can't keep up with him so donald trump at 25% capacity is still a lot more energetic than most people are at 100% and we're seeing that in these videos a man who is busy at work doing what the doctors are telling him to do, but i don't think you're going to keep him contained at walter reed all
5:34 am
that long. pete: yeah i can't imagine being one of his doctors governor, can you imagine being one of your kids like no chance of success at all. it's amazing. >> [laughter] pete: the president looks forward, obviously, sarah and others remarkably successful, when you look at the campaign trail going forward, how does it look, you know, they've announced this operation where they push out surrogates through virtual events what would your advice be to the trump campaign? >> i think doing what they're doing is the right thing but there's a lot of things happening across the country that are organic that the campaign is not even having to stir and stimulate. let me give an example. all over the country there are these boat floatillas where thousands of people just show up at a bay, a river, a lake, you know, the gulf of mexico, they are just going out and thousands of boats with trump signs are out there showing their support for the president. you seen truck parades and this is not happening because
5:35 am
the campaign sent in somebody to organize it and get it all ready these are just things that are happening. that is a level of enthusiasm you just don't see in the biden campaign, not at all. i mean if joe biden had a boat parade you might get a couple of people in a row boat going across a 20-foot lake saying who opee, but there is no enthusiasm for joe biden there just isn't. there's enthusiasm against president trump but here is something i think we got to remember. ultimately this election is not going to be even about the two candidates or their personalities or the two parties. it's about two very different directions for this country. one says we need law and order we need safety in our streets and cities. we need to stand with our police not defund them. the other one says defund the police, let the mobs run. one says here are the people i'll put on the courts. the other one says i'm not going to tell you you just have to wait and see what happens. one campaign says we believe in america first, the other one says we'll sell-off to china and
5:36 am
let them take our jobs just like we did with my son hunter. we're going to let him make a bunch of money while i'm in office. i mean, i couldn't be i guess more amazed that some people think this is about the personal all it of president trump because on one hand you've got a president whose absolutely staun ched pro-life and the others believe the taxpayers ought to fund abortion up to the moment of birth. this is about our country and its future. it's about free market capital ism versus socialism. there's a lot at stake here and neither candidate got on the campaign trail, we still have an important decision to make, november 3. pete: governor i agree with you it should be about those policies, but i think what we see is a campaign shaking up of donald trump's personality against kamala harris and joe biden's policies. you laid it out yourself there's no enthusiasm for joe biden as a person, there's enthusiasm against donald trump so listen you've been on that debate stage
5:37 am
, governor. mike pence takes the debate stage this week, so if you want to make this campaign about biden and harris' policies, put yourself in mike pence's shoes, this coming week. what do you do? >> two big strategies i think he will employ. one is he recognizes that when you are debating a woman it is a little different. i had two women opponents in the course of my political life one on one. you have to be forceful enough so you don't look like a wimp but you also have to be careful enough so that you don't look like a bully and you balance that but the main thing that mike pence must do and i know he will do this , is to call out kamala harris for what she has said about joe biden. call her out for her own inconsistency. just ask her, does she believe in court stacking? does she believe in statehood for d.c. and puerto rico? does she believe in ending the filibuster which essentially is do you believe in dismantling our system of government as we have practiced it?

s pass their own $2.2 trillion bill, but without support from republicans. here with an update on where talks stand, louisiana gop congressman mike johnson. congressman welcome to the show. so, it looked to me as of this morning that there was yet another standstill. has there been any progress? >> well unfortunately, speaker pelosi has weaponized the stimulus bill. you know they passed it tried to pass it along party lines on thursday night, this past week, but 18 democrats voted with us on the republican side against it because it's $2.2 trillion it's not targeted and focused as it needs to be and her bill mentioned the word cannabis more than it mentioned the word jobs it's not what the american people need but many many people are in desperate situations and desperate times and that's why the president, the white house and all republicans in congress are continuing to push this. i hope nancy pelosi will heed that and will get back to the table and get something done, because it can't happen too soon
5:47 am
jedediah: so congressman this is going on for weeks now, and it's honestly terrifying to so many people around the country who desperately need this assistance it seems to me that someone is going to have to cave. i just don't see any meeting in the middle here it looks like compromise is not happening. so what's going to happen here if no one caves and do people not then get the relief they desperately need? >> it's a terrible situation. i'll tell you republicans have been working very hard. we have a discharge petition as everyone has heard about on the house floor and that be to dislodge and authorize another round of the paycheck protection program funds because that would help us save jobs and save these small businesses. people are really suffering. the white house has done its job and bent over backwards secretary mnuchin on wednesday night before pelosi and the democrats passed their bill offered, his offer went up to $1.6 trillion that's a lot of money and we do a lot of good but they refuse to budge and i'll tell you why it's very

his wife, the first lady. all that said, because president trump has been unrelenting as a world leader in identifying, i think, accurately so, that china , and its leader, president xi led a localized epidemic spread into a world pandemic, because he committed those international flights to come out of wuhan city and we have held them accountable and now there's a broad coalition of support for that same thought process and i also believe its been a catalyst for other countries around the world, pete , to kind of take a hard look at their relationship with the chinese communist party, and reassess it in terms of what their goals are and what their own national interests are and that reassessment has taken place and that's why you see secretary pompeo going around the world as much as he is and secretary of defense esper as well. they are continuously talking about this hostile nation china and imposing its will on the
6:16 am
world at large and now, i think we're in a position here that we've not been before in establishing a coalition and eventually a strategy with other world leaders in how to cope with this reality. pete: but general would that change in a biden administration it doesn't seem there's been any reassessment there. he calls them a competitor. are they, would they be greeted with a much-different world were that to happen? >> pete i don't get involved in the politics of this. the reality is china wants to dominate and control their region, and they have been about that now, for about 15 years and they've had a significant -- pete: general i don't want to get political -- >> and as a result of that success, they also want to get up, they also want to dominate the world and replace the united states as a leader in the world, so that is not going to change regardless of who is
6:17 am
president. those are very harsh realities. we have not faced a threat like this , like since the soviet union. its been 30 years almost since the soviet union collapsed, and we dealt with that threat for 40 years. we're going to deal with the threat of china also for multiple generations. pete: general we know you speak with the president frequently, have you had a chance to talk to him and get an assessment and sort of a corollary to that, as you think in a moment like this how do you anticipate what adversaries may attempt to do as they view our system and a president whose at walter reed? >> well, the president doesn't surprise me at all in dealing with covid. he's vigorous, he's maintaining his duties, he's got a very strong work ethic, i'm not surprised by that at all, and certainly, i think we're all appreciate the optimism that his doctors are telling us that he's doing well and he's improving
6:18 am
and he's not out of the woods yet as we all know what covid does. yes our adversaries certainly our national command authority, our command and control our national security apparatus that stays intact. it's not in crisis. it's not threatened by this. diplomatic post the military is deployed and operating around the world on a same alert status it always is, and our command and control is effective and there should be no concern, but adversaries as you mentioned, pete will take advantage of this one of the things i'm convinced they will do because they are already doing it and that is undermining our democracy and undermine the people's trust and confidence in it by spreading false stories and disinformation which they've been working on for months, leading up to the election and whose doing that? china is doing it, russia, and also, iran. they will try to change their stories a little bit, blame the president for having covid
6:19 am
himself, emphasize again the united states problems associated with covid, blame the united states for much of the problem dealing with covid worldwide. they will use that kind of theme to create miss trust in the american's people's confidence in our government but the people see through that and they're not buying into that and the reality is we're kind of used to this game that our adversaries are playing and the information influence business. pete: yeah, just like we become unfortunately used to the game a lot of the press plays to knit picking in what doesn't appear to be all that genuine of a way. general jack keane, thank you so much, for your insight this morning we appreciate it. >> good talking to you. pete: all right you got it. still ahead, senator rick scott and maria bartiromo join us live , but first, we are celebrating hispanic heritage month with a look at the life of the firstlatina on the first

that's a good way to be. this is my medal that i got from making the 1980 olympic team, of course we didn't get to go. reporter: in 1980 president jimmy carter announced a u.s. boycott of the moscow olympics to protest the soviet union's invasion of afghanistan. >> for many of the athletes that was going to be their shot in 1980. for me, it wasn't so bad i was 13 at the time. reporter: talavera set her sight s on 1984 a long wait for a female gymnast. >> being four foot nine when you begin, and then all of a sudden you're five foot four, i was the giant and i can attest to the fact that certainly, when i was smaller, and littler, shorter, gymnastics was easier. reporter: tracy placed fourth in the vault at the 84 games in los angeles and helped the team led by mary lou retton win the silver. >> my silver medal means a lot

lauren blanchard is live from st. math use's cathedral where the annual red mass which normal ly draws supreme court justices is set to begin in just a few minutes, lauren good morning. reporter: good morning, will, jed, pete, well st. matthews red mass is usually held just before the supreme court begins their new term, in this service they pray over judges, justices, attorneys, all of those in public office and the 68th annual mass will be live-stream ed this year on st. matthews website in about 30 minutes, due to the pandemic, today's services invitation-only , typically we see supreme court justices in attendance this year, that's unlikely this particular mass comes as the nations highest court will begin their term with only eight justices, the nation is still mourning the death of ruth bader ginsburg. over on capitol hill, republican senators are hoping to fill that seat as soon as possible even as covid-19 concerns are growing , senator josh hawley has tested negative but mike lee and thom tillis have tested positive all three republicans sit on the

important senate judiciary committee. chairman lindsey graham says although democrats want to delay the october 12 confirmation hear ings for judge amy coney barrett, due to the virus, he is moving forward. >> the virus is serious but we have to move on as a nation. we're going to have a hearing to not, for amy barrett, the nominee to the supreme court it will be done safely but i've got a job to do and i'm pressing on. reporter: and the supreme court 's term begins tomorrow morning, and like mass in about 30 minutes it will be live streamed. jed, will, pete? will: lauren thank you so much you hear from lindsey graham, he plans to move forward with the confirmation process of amy coney barrett. for more on that let's go to florida gop senator rick scott. senator scott, both senators lee and tillis who sit on the judiciary committee have tested positive for coronavirus in your estimation is this any reason that the confirmation process of amy coney barrett suspect be delayed?
6:34 am
>> of course not we've been doing virtual committee meetings since march and so this will have no impact, both senators lee and tillis can participate by video conference just like we've been doing. you can go in-person and social distance or you can do it virtually so no it shouldn't slow it down. the democrats they just don't want, they don't want amy coney barrett to be confirmed. i feel very comfortable she has the votes she'll be confirmed the last week of october, and some of the democrats have said they don't want to participate. well maybe that will just speed up the whole process and we could even do it earlier. pete: senator so no challenges or anything oh, sorry, jed, just i'll jump in on this real quick no challenges with quorums or anything like that if people are not there, all okay? >> no, you can do it. we've been doing it by video conference and you can do the quorum that way. no we still when we ultimately will vote for her the last week
6:35 am
of october, we'll all need to be there and vote in-person. we're not doing that virtually, but i mean, she's a wonderful person and seven kids adopted two children from haiti, has been successful law professor, successful judge on the court of appeals, i mean what a great pick and she's humble, she understands there's three branch es of government. i appointed 407 judges when i was the governor of florida and i said do you know that you're not part of the legislative or the executive branch you're the judiciary and she clearly does. she wants to interpret the law not make the law. jedediah: senator, people got a little bit nervous yesterday started to really worry about you, the way you had answered a question i guess had confused some people who felt that you had tested positive for covid-19 can you reassure us now in fact you have tested negative? >> yeah, i tested negative i went on friday and i didn't have any symptoms but i went and i tested negative.
6:36 am
it's my sixth test and they've all been negative. i did quarantine back in march when i was around the brazilian president and some people around him had teachers but no, i've been blessed. my heart goes out to the president and the first lady and my colleagues in the senate. i hope everybody recovers without any significant symptoms i talked to ron johnson yesterday and he said he has no symptoms at all, so i hope, i mean, this is serious. let's all understand we're still , this is serious, wear a mask, social distance, be careful where you go if you don't have to go some place and be around a lot of people, be careful. will: senator scott i want as a point of clarification to work through this timeline with you to follow-up on pete's question so you can conduct the confirmation hearings via zoom virtually, tillis and lee can be available for those virtually but by the time the vote moves to the senate floor you'll all need to be there in the senate to take the vote so that puts anyone
6:37 am
whose been infected with covid-19 senators lee or tillis or johnson or others on a heal ing path to be back in washington d.c. by what date? >> well we're hoping to do this the last week of october. the democrats are going to slow this down as much as they can so i don't know what day of the week it'll happen but we don't, when we vote we're typically not all there at the same time. you don't have to walk clear up to the front of the chamber you can vote at the back of the chamber, so, i think we're going to do this and we're going to do it very cautiously very safely just like what lindsey graham is going to do with the judicial committee it'll be done safely but there's no reason this wonderful person cannot be confirmed as a supreme court justice by the end of october. pete: senator you mentioned going about your business but doing so safely. talk to us about the state of florida, a lot of things reopening there how is that going? >> well, clearly, we're reopening, i think it's
