september 2, '08, i am curious if a more recent poll or polls in the coming weeks would have this differently with coronavirus notched up a little bit with all the attention that has been on it. i know people will always talk about the economy, very important to them especially this year when a lot of people lost their jobs after coronavirus and are still losing their jobs but in light of everything that has happened in the news surrounding coronavirus, the president being diagnosed with coronavirus i would not be surprised if they didn't pick up a little bit. >> reporter: covid-19 is like this come out front in their lives at any one time, yes, and to your point the president getting covid-19 will lead those numbers to go higher but that said the two things that stood out to me from those numbers, a good sign the american people have not forgotten the war on terror.

good morning. let's talk about the words his doctors used yesterday saying he's not out of the woods just yet. what to do you read from that? how important is the next few days? >> it is trending in a positive direction, you hear that from how he is talking, the doctors are right to caution this virus can be cyclical, you never know over the next few weeks if the symptoms can come back, they sometimes can be cyclical like that, he remains in a stage where he is able to transmit the virus. the virus going on in his body even as he recovers. jillian: he is getting his last dose of remdesivir today. what will happen after that? >> some of these treatments are truly state-of-the-art.

and overcome, very positive message but at the same time i would add it is also a wake-up call for the physical distancing, the masking, the caution. that is where the criticism has come from. we need more of that message, decreased transmission even as we have the courage to defeat it. jillian: the referenced physical distancing, wearing masks, the cdc updated its guidelines monday and they say some infections can be spread by exposure to virus in small droplets and particles that can linger in the air from minutes to hours. these viruses may be able to infect people who are further than 6 feet away from the person who is infected or after the person has left. this is going against everything we thought up to this point which is if you are social distancing, 6 feet from somebody in theory you should be okay as long as you are being safe but what do you make of this update from the guidelines.

for example, and people like that, that have to keep our economy going. we shut down way more than we had to. jillian: i want to get in one more question on this before we move on to another topic only have a few minutes left here. the doctors say the president is not out of the woods yet. obviously the next few days are important for his recovery. i know is he a worker, you know he is a earthquake with. he wants to get back to work and out campaigning. is he going to be able to spend a little down time in the next few days in the crucial part of his recovery? >> i mean, he has. he has listened to the doctors completely. i remember when i first talked to him about going home, i said to him now, mr. president, you know, i know what you are like. and are they making the decision or are you making the decision? he said no, no. these guys are great. i have complete confidence in them. if they tell me to stay, i stay. if they tell me to go, i go. when the president has confidence in people, he takes their advice. i understand that. i ran a city. if i had confidence in people, i went where they tell me. if i didn't, then a different
