rate is about the same or even a little bit lower. we're really monitoring those numbers really closely in the public health community because though we do not want mild cases, and we do not want our younger people to get infected, of course, much more concerning to the medical community is hospitalizations because that makes it impossible for hospital ofs to function. we're not there. and as long as we can keep that from happening and i agree with dr. fauci also, we need public health measures -- we need compliance. i was walking around new york yesterday. i saw everybody huddling together again. we need physical distancing, we need people to wash their hands and we need the masks. jillian: okay. so pfizer has this covid-19 vaccine rolling off the production line as the drug maker prepares to apply for emergency use by late november. let's take a look at the statement. it reads, we estimate we will reach the milestone in the third week of november, we are operating at the speed of of science. this means we may know whether or not our vaccine is effective

2:26 am
goes well and this gets approved, when do you think the general population might be able to see a vaccine? i know it's hard to give a specific timeline but how long does it normally take? >> that's a great question. i'd say healthcare workers end of november. elderly start to get it, people in poor communities, high risk and then about probably january, february and march you would start to see a big rollout to hundreds of millions of doses around the country. i'd say early spring, late winter. jillian: okay. we'll certainly keep our fingers crossed that everything continues to go well. i know you'll be following it as we will as well. your new book, congratulations on it, covid the politics of fear and power of science. dr. siegel, thank you very much. >> my pleasure, jillian. thank you for having me. todd: time now, 26 minutes after the hour. the social media censorship of the hunter biden story striking a nerve, liz peek says facebook and twitter are working overtime to elect buy done and protect the swam -- biden and protect the swamp.

social media, historically has been a neutral platform. in the last six months, i would say, it has become abundantly clear that that is no longer the case, as they have censored stories particularly about the coronavirus and stories from doctors who don't agree with dr. fauci and who present a more hopeful or positive view of the virus and the damage that it is doing. so i must say, i think the problem is, it's so frustrating because there is no alternative at this place to -- at this point to twitter and facebook. those of us who are on those platforms really have no place else to go. and we know that legislators aren't going to protect us. democrats are in bed with these companies. they get lots and lots of campaign money from these companies. so they make a lot of noise about how they're going to rein them in. they don't need it. they're not going to do
