guy. served in moscow, iraq and pakistan. uniquely credentialed to talk about this. daniel, what do you make of what the fbi and the director of national intelligence told us last night? >> well, first and foremost, reporting that iran and russia stowl our voter registration data. there is no indication that they accessed our election infrastructure. no indication that they have interfered with election tales. what i took away from last night is three things. this was indications and warnings to our citizens. that's really the first way for us to defend ourselves. that our citizens are aware of these spoofed emails. forewarned is forearmed. ainsley: daniel, the intelligence community says that iran is seconding these fake emails threatening democrats in alaska, florida and pennsylvania saying if you vote for trump -- you will vote for trump or we will come after you. we will know which candidate you

voted for. i would take this seriously if i were you. what would you say about how honest they are being christopher wray and john ratcliffe. has that opened before? have we known details like? we know they have interfered in the past. >> i think this is a new step for iran. let's make it clear, the iranians have been targeting our shipping in the gulf. they have been using proxy militias in iraq to target our people there and enriching uranium to higher grade levels. they are a major threat. they are taking this opportunity to try to interfere in our political process. both for iran and russia what scares them the most is democracy. it's liberty and freedom and democracy. everything that's enshrined in our constitution and bill of rights will make its way to tehran and moscow. those ruthless dictatorships would crumble immediately. brian: what about deterrence factor why do they feel they can do that blink their lights or take out an oil well or meanwhile we are reading

yesterday a couple days ago they had -- the russianst had five planes breach our airspace that we had to push back against. they are getting a little too bold. how do you get them back in line? >> i think, first of all, on the cyber front there is three things. talked about the indications. department of homeland security harr donned our infrastructure. this is a part that doesn't get a whole lot of coverage in the media unfortunately cyber commands mounting what he calls persistent engagement out in cyberspace targeting those who threaten us. viewers may recall the 2018 midterms when cyber commands reportedly launched preemptive attacks against russia's research agency. that's something we are doing as well in order to deter and to counter these threats. but make no mistake. it's a constant process. and, brian, you raised it correctly. that russia is being very bold and we need to counter them not just in cyberspace but in air, land and sea as well. steve: daniel hoffman, fox news contributor, thank you very

he hasn't shown any interest in doing the work or helping anybody but himself and his friends will or treating the presidency like a reality show that he can use to get attention. ainsley: people that do work in the white house would argue against that they would say he does work. he works 24/7. he held nine rallies in the past 8 days. he also went on to say that the president can't take credit for the economy that he inherited that. he said he hits him pretty hard on how he handled covid and said if judge coney barrett, if she is confirmed, she will take away your healthcare. brian: barack obama can get big crowds and so can the president. barack obama was in front of cars maybe for the first time in his career i would imagine. barack obama hit the president even more vicious when he was doing more work than hillary clinton to get her elected. when he outworked her. but he goes ahead into the race in which joe biden presumably is leading. when it comes to the battle ground states and real clear average, it is almost exactly where donald trump was when he

upset hillary clinton. and the other thing you can't say is donald trump didn't do anything. hundreds of judges, three trade deals, paying more. two major middle east peace deals. moving the embassy to jerusalem. and i don't think anybody out there, the biggest trump detractor on the planet, let's say like john bolton on anthony scaramucci blames the president for the crash in the economy. if you do that, you make people roll your eyes and say you are not even taking it serious. he closed it down for six weeks and mostly democratic governors are just keeping it closed down until after november 3rd. steve: meanwhile, after the former president appeared at that philly sports complex on behalf of joe biden. donald trump last night in gastonia hit back at barack obama for, you know, one thing about barack obama's speech yesterday was it was more fiery and more passionate than anything i think we have actually seen from joe biden himself during the campaign.

black male voter. momentum. we have heard from ice cube, 50-cent. jason walker. here is what whitlock says. listen. >> i think there is clear momentum for president trump particularly, i think, with black men. i think we have been carrying on a facade for three and a half years as black men that somehow we can't relate to donald trump. there has been a charade, i think, particularly among black men pretending that they don't have something in common with president trump and that facade. look at the money he has directed federal government to hvcus. this deal he has negotiated with ice cube about the platinum play. he may actually follow through on it. i just think that rings true and compelling to a lot of black men. ainsley: according to pugh research, 64% of eligible black women voted in the lazarus election. 54% of eligible black men voted

in 2016. 98% went for hillary. 81% for hillary as men. trump got 14% of the black male vote that was an improvement from mitt romney who got 11% in 2012. so it's curious to find out or we are all curious to find out ice cube 50-cent. herschel walker and jason whitlock if that will make a difference and increase percentage for donald trump. brian: if jason whitlock didn't matter, if the president didn't care, he doesn't get time. first person i knew to approach the president about criminal justice reform and what it takes to get african-americans into society in a way which gives them greater opportunity was jim brown. he said what everyone is saying about president trump i got more access to president trump in the first six months of his time than i got with 8 years of president obama. and jim brown was the guy that you see in black and white video marching with kareem abdul-jabbar and muhammed ali in the 196 0z.

people like amy coney barrett who are simply committed to the rule of law on there. what they really would like to see is an unelected super legislature that would simply be enacting liberal policies from the bench. i don't think that's what america wants. i'm really worried because i think it has not only short-term harm to the country in terms of throwing the court off and triggering a quid pro quo increasing the court after the nauseam buy real damage to ou b. >> democrats simply because they gain power are adding seats to the supreme court. i think what that would trigger is a one-way ratchet of each party then gaining power adding more seats. even people like senator bernie sanders has acknowledged this would be bad for the country because of that ruth bader ginsburg said that would be the result. so have you both sides trying to gain control of the court turns it into even more of a political

football than it already is if you could possibly imagine that under all of this is really treating the justifiables, again, not like judges. because i think people -- judges who are looking to just what the law says and what the constitution says should be what people on both sides of the aisle are looking for and that's what amy coney barrett represents. they don't want that they want judges who are going to act like politicians. that's why they tried to change the subject during the hearings to what her political views are every time. and that's not what a judge should be doing. a judge should be looking at the law. ainsley: carrie, can democrats do anything can they do anything to prevent packing the court down the road? >> well, we have seen some efforts, senator cruz an attempt to try to change the triewls make it harder. still something the democrats, if they controlled the senate, could change again with the majority vote. so it's not permanent. others have suggested a constitutional amendment. that takes a lot of effort and a lot of votes to get that done. i would think that might be a safe option for americans to be able to prevent this from

more. terrible loss for you and everyone at the department can you give us an idea what took place? >> yes. we had been out to that location to vated potential issues with domestic violence acouple times before but nothing had risen to arrestable offense. tuesday morning sergeant preston was at the scene with a couple officers to help the 14-year-old son to get cooperation from the suspect to move out. she had had enough and sadly at one point the 14-year-old boy opened the door, unlocked it with the key. as the door opens, our officers are outside. he says oh my god he has got a gun. he starts shooting. struck his own son with gunfire. struck officer courtney waller in the arm with gunfire and sadly he struck sergeant preston. sergeant preston was able to respond and return fire.

he fired one round. actually struck him in the abdomen and suffice it to say obviously we are here because tragically he died. he died a hero. he lived a great life. he was a great son. a great cop. above all else he was a great human being and we are going to miss him greatly. brian: unbelievable it. shows you the nature of your job. domestic dispute. have you been there before. you think you know what you are getting into. my goodness you she up domestic dispute that's what people are saying law enforcement has to show one domestic dispute with therapist and psychologists. house would that have gone? >> you know, we do -- qui use multi-disciplinary response with our cert teams, our crisis intervention response teams that actually has healthcare professionals with us. >> we don't put them in harm's way. domestic violence calls are some of the most dangerous. we lost sergeant christopher

steve: i wonder who that person is somebody who is not is joe con charges media reporter for the hill. joe, after the last debate. the first debate where the president was interrupted a lot and joe biden called the president a clown. went back and forth. the commission said there would be structural changes. this someone of them. what do you think? >> absolutely. i old enough to remember 2012 and joe biden debated paul ryan in the debate that year and joe biden interrupted paul ryan. i went back and looked 82 times after that. i didn't see any structural changes being made i guess there is only one vice presidential debate. still you don't change the rules in the beginning. right in the middle of this particular process. it's like the debate commission has now become the pulitzer bureau. you have to wonder why. first they moved the second debate which never happened unilaterally to a virtual debate and then decided we can't have that debate even though last week we saw that debate absolutely could have happened. did they cancel that debate

because of steve scully because he sent out tweets, for instance in 2016 saying no not trump not ever or turned anthony scaramucci one of the president's most vocal critics for advice like is he dr. phil. it seems like the debate commission has completely lost control of this process and by changing the rules, it may add to a little bit more mistrust in terms of are they favoring one candidate other another, guys? ainsley: the president tweeted out a picture with lesley stahl from his 60 minutes interview and threatening to release that interview before it airs next weekend. in an attempt to expose how fake and bias the sitdown was, he says. what are your predictions? do you think he will do that? >> well, you never can predict anything successfully probably with this president, anxiously. but i went back and looked. i wanted to see okay is lesley stahl actually biased? i looked at interviews she has given to other publications. in this case 2018 nantucket magazine asked first quote do you believe there is liberal bias in the media? her conclusion after trashing

fox news which had nothing to do with the actual question she said, quote: i don't think that when you look at the "new york times," "the washington post," cbs news and so forth that there is a liberal bias. that's interesting because, you know, the "new york times" hasn't endorsed a republican presidential candidate in the last 16 elections. have you got to go back 64 years. "the washington post" has never endorsed a g.o.p. presidential candidate in its history. so just around the whole is the "new york times" and "the washington post" biased two markers as far as that's concerned. she is then asked in the same interview can you think of anything positive about the trump presidency? she responds, quote: i still can't believe trump won. he couldn't believe it. he said he knew all along he didn't. his body language showed he was in shock three days after. now body language expert. becoming with acone man band policy. changing the system. really amazed not in a flattering i way. no she has no animus towards the president. brian: he didn't walk off. he will ended after 37 minutes. plenty of time.

already shattering early voting records. 42 million americans have already cast ballots. what does this mean for the turnout in 2020? pollster kristin soltis anderson joins us right now. kristin, you know, people are saying look at these numbers, they're gigantic. and so many more democrats are doing early voting than republicans. but that doesn't necessarily mean they're running away with the show, does it? >> not necessarily. in a normal year, it would be a very good sign for democrats, buts this is not a normal year. and because of the pandemic, a lot of states are pioneering new ways to have more and more mail-in voting, and that's been particularly something that democratic voters say they want to do while republicans tend to want to vote in person and on election day. in-person voting is only just getting underway in many key states. at the moment we have many more absentee ballot requests coming from democrats, that's not necessarily a sign they're going to win. steve as you look, democrats

twice as many early voting as reflynn palins. -- republicans. it sounds like people are doing the early voting because they're afraid. it's the fear factor. that are afraid their ballot's going to get lost, something's going to happen to it, it's not going to could be, all that stuff. so, you know, the dialogue we've had up to this point has gotten people interested. and enthusiastic. so how does that translate according to the candidates? >> well, you're completely right. enthusiasm is way up this election. over the last 19 years how enthusiastic are you to vote in this election, and this year it is record high level for republicans and democrats. in some states like texas, they've already got 60% of the vote turned in to match the level that was turned in four years ago. so voter enthusiasm is enormous, but it's not just on the democratic side. both sides are fired up and ready to vote. steve: sure. what's got to be troubling for

somebody in your business would be the shy trump voters, because it's hard to figure out, you know, is this person telling me the truth or not. we had a guest on an hour ago, kristin, he's a journalist. he was in a barbershop in minnesota, and he talked the five people. three of the five had been polled, and they all lied. they said we're going to vote for joe biden, which is a flat out lie because they were going to vote for donald trump. >> it would actually be a really big statistical anomaly for five -- pardon me, any number of people in one particular barbershop to get polled. that's when many people say, hey, how come i've never been polled? it's totally normal. while i think there are certainly some folks that feel reluctant to talk to pollsters, i don't think that it necessarily is going to account for 8, 9, 10 points worth of a margin. is so this should be used as a guide. don't focus on any one individual poll. steve: manages oh, man. a dozen days to go, let's see

steve: fox news alert, u.s. intel officials warning that iran and russia are trying to meddle in the election. ainsley: director of national intelligence john ratcliffe says iran is behind fake e-mails intimidating voters as russia obtains u.s. voter information. >> even if the adversaries pursue further attempts to intimidate or attempt to undermine voter confidence of, know that our election systems are resilient, and you can be confident your votes are secure. brian: well, both russian president vladimir putin and iran have denied any involvement in this. what about the strategy of telling everybody i ahead of time instead of the aftermath like the obama administration did? ambassador robert o'brien joins us now. ambassador, this probably wasn't a surprise to you. what about the strategy of telling us first, before the election this time? >> no, we want the voters to know what's going on. i've been talking about this for

many months, as you know. it's not just russia and iran, it's china, and there are several other countries we have not yet gone public on. we're taking major steps to protect the elections. i've held over 20 high-level meetings here at the white house with the national security council, the department of homeland security is working with our 50 states, national guard units set up with their cyber units. of i was in iowa, and they have a terrific cyber unit, the iowa national guard recently, and they're working with their secretary of state. so across the country we're making big efforts to make sure our election infrastructure's hardened and that people know their votes going to be counted. steve: we know the country of e iran has sent an e-mail out through's e tone ya by saudi arabia essentially saying vote for president trump on election day, or we're going to come after you. what's russia doing? what's china doing? that are the examples you can give us regarding those countries? >> well, the thing to -- it's no

surprise that iran has done this because the jcpoa has cut them off from billions of dollars of the jackpot they received when they signed the jcpoa. all those billions have been cut off, so there's no surprise their getting involved in our elections. they don't like the fact that israel's making peace with their arab natures. the -- neighbors. the same thing with russia. the president's been tougher on russia than any administration since ronald reagan. we see that they're out on twitter and various places with disinformation. you can see the same thing with china. china goes about trying to cultivate local leaders, mayors and governors and congressmen and convince them if they don't vote china's way or they don't do what china wants, china won't invest in their districts or cities, that sort of thing. there are ore countries that are attempting to do things via cyber, twitter and facebook. just make sure the information you're getting is from a trusted source. the fact that -- back to brian's

comment, the president wanted to get out early on this and let the american people know what's happening. we're trying to shine a light on it because sunshine and transparency 's the biggest disinfectant. ainsley: what are you all doing to make sure this election is fair, is legitimate? >> yeah, it's a great question, ainsley. we're working, we've got a massive unit at homeland security. we spent hundreds of millions of dollars helping the states, and as you know, the states run our elections. the secretaries of state and lieutenant governors manage their elections out in their states, harden their infrastructure. the good news is we're so decentralized, 95% of the ballots that are cast have some sort of paper analog so that they can be audited. it's very difficult for an adversary to actually change the outcomes of the elections, and we've been doing everything we can to make sure that's the case on election day, that no one can play with the tallies on the votes as they come in. and we're very confident that we're in good shape on that front because of the advanced

planning, because of the white house's involvement in making sure our elections are safe. brian: right. the moderator in today's debate has had three of the same topics, maybe four that chris wallace picked, foreign policy is not one of them. that must frustrate you because the president's going against a vice president that was told by his secretary of defense that he's been wrong on every major foreign policy and national security decision over the last 40 years. they killed gadhafi and had no plan for the next day, they pulled out of iraq and called isis part of the jv team. you would love to contrast your approach to their approach, won't you? >> that was fantastic, brian. i want to focus on what the president's done. the president's brought peace to the middle east with the historic abraham accords, peace between israel, bahrain and uae. and there's more to come on that front. secretary pompeo signed an agreement with the taliban to stop the attacks on u.s. military in afghanistan, and

we're moving towards peace in afghanistan with talks that we're supporting there. we brought justice to baghdadi, and just recently we brought the beatles home that killed kayla mueller. they're going to be prosecuted and put in jail for life. we're going to bring them to justice. the president stood up to china, the first president in my lifetime that stood up to china. he put massive tariffs on them and is bringing free and fair trade back to our relationship. he stood up on the china virus against them. he's ree built our military, encouraged nato to spend an additional $400 billion to defend the west from china and are russia. and that doesn't even get to the trade deals, the usmca which replaced the potential nafta. i was in brazil this past week, we signed three new trade deals that are fantastic for america with brazil. of it's just one thing after another. he's done more in the year and a half than i've been here than most presidents do in eight years. it's really been impressive.

brian: ukraine too. >> there's that. steve: ambassador, after the director of national intelligence and the fbi director made their statement to the press yesterday about 7:30, adam schiffed had this observation. we'd like your comment. watch. >> as far as director ratcliffe's statement, the two examples that he gave of iranian interference -- the mailing of these mails purportedly to democratic voters -- that's an effort to suppress the democratic vote or an effort to enname the democratic vote or simply to sow chaos. it's hard to see how that could be hurtful to the president. so we don't know whether this is just ratcliffe's spin or the assessment of the analyst. the sad thing for the american people is they cannot rely on what they hear from the director of national intelligence without

proof on the table. steve: what do you think about that? can't trust what the director of national intelligence says unless he says, ladies and gentlemen, exhibit a. >> it's really sad, and it's sad that it's coming from chairman schiff because he has access to the intelligence. he's seen it. he knows that we can't release the intelligence either on russia or on iran or china these other countries. he's seen it, but then he challenges the director of national intelligence to release sensitive signal intelligence or human intelligence or satellite reconnaissance that we have knowing that won't happen. so that's a sad thing. i know john ratcliffe. he's a good man, and you saw standing behind him was chris wray and the rest of the team. there are real efforts by our adversaries, i've said this from the start, to sow discord among americans, ask is we've got to stop it, and we're going to son it. and that's -- stop it. and, you know, chairman schiff's comments is just the sort of discord that they were hoping to stir, so that's unfortunately.

joins us now. this whole journey to get football back was inspirational. the battle to get the big ten back on the field. why? >> i've been involved in college athletics for probably 40 years, and it was one of the greatest examples of a group of people feeling that they were not right, they were wronged, excuse me, and how to respectfully keep pushing. even when told to stand down. you know, justin fields and the reason we play college football is because of players. the way they went about it saying they trust their doctors, their coaches, the athletic directors with all the protocol in place. they do trust him, and as a result, they're going to get to do what they love. and one quick thing, the college -- the shelf life of a college athlete is so short to be able to do what you love. it's one of the greatest experiences i've had to watch this. steve: it's not only that, coach, it could also be their career, provided they've got a good year, attract some

attention. next thing you know they might wind up in the pros. >> that's what this country's all about. that's the fact that joe burrow made a comment if he didn't have this year last year, he might -- you know, he'd be out of the game of football. you're darn right you should have the opportunity to do what you love to do. ainsley: what about the disadvantage they have in the big ten now because the other teams have been playing for four games now? >> yeah, i don't look it as a disadvantage. they've been practicing, you know, they're worried about the big ten. they're not worried about the sec and acc, and, you know, the pac-12's going to start late, so they can't worry about other schools. it's going to be a very tight schedule when you talk about bowl games, but that -- they can't worry about that. they have to beat nebraska, stay healthy and, more importantly, just be very disciplined about the social distancing and the protocols that are in use. brian: and you're seeing it, and you said your son-in-law is on the coaching staff at ohio state, and the way they say they can't go out, they don't want to be the one to bring the virus

into the locker room from the equipment manager on down. that inspires you. the other thing, coach, is let's begin with a national issue because jason field and trevor lawrence said this is not okay, and the president responded as well. >> yeah. this is an absolute case study that there needs to be books written about how in this day and age, you know, i have a lot of opinions about that, but this day and age where discipline might not be there and personal responsibility, you should see what these players and the coaches are doing to just not be, you know, to put others ahead of self. just a great case study. steve: let's talk about the game saturday. live from the nebraska/ohio state game, what do you like? >> i like the buckeyes, of course. i think, you know, talent wise ohio state the is going to be superior in talent. but you know what? nebraska's got a very good quarterback in martinez, it'll be his third year starting. i witnessed him personally when

he's played well. they're very talented and they've got a creative coach, and it's nebraska, historically a good program. the buckeyes, you know, offensively this could with one of the best offensive teams in the modern era. ainsley: isn't it amazing that these student athletes really pushed back against something that they didn't think was right, and they got their way in the end, and they're bringing football back? >> ainsley, and how they did it. i think a lot of people maybe pushed back, but what i always tell our players the capital r world, the respect that they show. justin fields, the way he led, 200,000 plus people sign a petition. he was very respectful. the parents on their own dime flying to chicago and flying to indianapolis to try to be heard. and they were heard. but they did it very respectfully, which is -- i was so proud of that. brian you know what? and the pac-12, so much pressure on them, they had to go in line.

for the players who don't go pro, and most of them don't, that's what this is about. if you can ask them take the risk, you should at least give them the opportunity to say yes or no. and it took a while, but they finally got to yes. and even though it's going to be four weeks and a weird year, you say we're going to get it all in, bowl games and everything? >> yeah, i think so. and it was transformational. you watch -- this was all about developing young people. those young people, the way they behaved, the way they acted, the way they protested was transformational for them. and, yes, i believe we'll get it all in. i believe in discipline, i've witnessed -- i can't speak for all the other programs, but the sacrifice on both sides, the coaches and players right now, i mean, it's -- you talk about the ultimate teams, the sacrifice they've putting together, it's really incredible to watch. ainsley: urban, we love you. thank you so much is. tell shelley we said hello. catch coach meyer on the big noon kickoff pregame show saturday on fox. bain brian all right.
