saying he's going to protect pre-existing conditions. he hasn't done a thing. well, ladies and gentlemen, we're going to build road, bridges, that are crumbling, climate change, accelerated more frequently and extreme weather events. just look at wildfires in california, hurricanes along the gulf coast. my state of delaware, one of the lowest lying states above sea level on the verge of being flooded. according to the best data we have, southeast pennsylvania, including bucks county, is warming faster than any part of this state. how long before floods start picking up along the delaware river? we can do something about this. and we better get it done. we better get it done and by the way, we don't do things like those chumps out there with the microphone are doing, the trump guys. [applause], [horns honking] it's about decency.
9:01 am
look, we've got to come together. i was reminded of that earlier this month when i went to the sacred ground of gettysburg. abraham lincoln told us, a house divided cannot stand. but remember what donald trump said? when covid-19 deaths reached 200,000 in america, he said if you look at the blue states, the democratic governors and just look at the red states, the republican governors, we're doing well. well, first of all, it's not true. the great rise has happened in most of the red states, but that's not the point. think of what he's saying about what's going on in america. he's saying if you live in pennsylvania, you're not his problem. you live in a red state, alabama, he may think about you. he's not responsible for your family's well-being if you're in a blue state.
9:02 am
folks, i don't see the president that way. i don't see it that way. i don't see america that way. i'm running as a proud democrat, but i will govern as an american president for everybody. [applause], [horns honking] i'll work as hard for those dd i'll work as hard for those who don't support me as those who do, including those chumps with the microphone out there. look, that's a job of a president. the duty to care for everyone. the duty to heal. and you, too, have a sacred duty and that's to vote. it matters. pennsylvania matters. so please vote, help get out the vote. visit i will vote.com/pa. return your ballot as soon as possible and make sure everyone you know does the same.
9:03 am
folks, as bobby casey and i and others served, always kidding me, i remember one sentence from president kennedy's speech about going to the moon. he answered the question that wasn't asked, but what was implied he said we're going to do it because we americans, we refuse to postpone. i refuse to postpone the work we must do. there's nothing beyond our capacity, there's no limit to american future. the only thing that can tear america apart is america itself. look, folks, everybody knows who donald trump is. let's show him who we are. we chose hope over fear. [applause], [horns honking] we choose unity over division, science over fiction, truth over lies, and yes, honor and integrity over lying.
9:04 am
so it's time to stand up. let' take back our democracy now. we can do this. there's nothing we cannot do. god bless you all and may god protect our troops. thank you, thank you, thank you. [applause]. neil: joe biden wrapping up one of his signature drive-in rallies in bristol, pennsylvania. that's bucks county, a key swing state, a key swing county within that swing state. about 25 minutes or so on the stump from joe biden. a number of the car horns you heard were those of supporters of the former vice-president and then there was also a large contingent of trump parade, is what they're calling it, crashing joe biden's drive-in rally they were honking their horns and driving by with trump flags. we're trying to get that video in a minute. this is the first of two events for the former vice-president and then president trump, who we're also monitoring and we
9:05 am
can see the bottom right-hand corner of the screen in the box. president trump has three events on this saturday. he's got one in florida where he voted early today, live pictures now of air force one that has landed in fayetteville, north carolina and key swing state there where early voting is already underway and then the president also has another event later this afternoon. it's only 12:00 eastern. nice to be with you at home. i'm leland vittert alongside gillian turner as we look at lumberton, north carolina, not far from fayetteville, north carolina, the home of fort bragg. gillian: a truly frenetic pace for trump stopping in four states, he started in florida where he voted early and then later in ohio and wisconsin and we'll bring it to you as it unfolds on this truly very busy
9:06 am
day, i mean, i would be exhausted the do the president's schedule today and i'm like what, half his age. leland: i am i don't think i am allowed to comment, i brought it up, so you are. leland: he was chiding the press core after he voted, get ready for a busy day, the press corps that travels with him. it's an exhausting schedule. as john roberts said get your running shoes on. it gets more frenetic from here. it was this time in 2016, the president was doing rallies at midnight and 1:00 in the morning until 1:00, 2:00 a.m. on election day. gillian: if you think about it, this is really it. this is the hole-- we like to stay it's the home stretch for months. this is it, the debates are done, they're wrapped, they're behind the candidate and this is their last and best shot to speak to the american people before november 3rd. leland: tens of millions of people have already voted which makes this a little different in terms of historic number of
9:07 am
early votes we have. aishah hasnie in lumberton waiting for the president to come down the stairs. pick up where we left off. the folks you're talking to, have they already voted in early voting because they're such die-hard supporters or waiting? >> well, leland, millions in north carolina have already voted including at the trump rally. get those tennis shoes on and put that sunscreen on, it's a hot day in north carolina, it's going to be a very busy day for the president. three events in three states as you mentioned and he kicked things off this morning in florida where he voted. let's show you the video. president trump joining millions of americans today voting early by casting his own ballot in west palm beach florida. first lady melania trump was not with him afterwards he told reporters, i voted for a guy named trump and had concerns about voter fraud and brought
9:08 am
it up again. >> not much, it was a very secure vote. much more secure than when you send in a ballot, i can tell you that. everything was perfect. very strict, right by the rules. when you send in your ballot, could never be like that. could never be secure like that. >> all right. let' talk north carolina politics. 15 electoral votes up for grabs here, trump won the tar heel state in 2016 by 173,000 vote. now, today more than 2.6 million residents have already cast their ballots, but nearly half of democrats. it makes sense, there are more registered democrats in the state, even more unaffiliated voters than registered republicans. the polls tell the story, the recent real clear politics average show biden and trump neck and neck, not even 2 points between the two. and they're going to be spending a lot of money in the state. 55 million in ads in north carolina and four other states
9:09 am
here in the final home stretch before the election. now, the rally is happening, by the way, in a county that is-- has the third highest infection rate in the entire state. some folks out here wearing masks, others choosing not to. it's likely though we're going to hear president trump once again call upon the governor here to reopen the state of north carolina. leland. leland: aishah hasnie there on the ground. you can see the president walking down steps the air force one. occasionally he sort of greets reporters off camera and then takes the stage. supposed to start talking at 12:30 for what will be usually shorter rallies than we've seen of the two hour plus rallies that use today-- that used to happen in the beginning of the campaign. you saw where she was when the president takes the stage. we bring in to talk a little about the final stretch, trump campaign advisor stephen miller.
9:10 am
we appreciate it you're getting a unique perspective on this. were you one of the originals, there in the beginning. jeff sessions, former chief of staff came over to the campaign. you were there for all of 2016. compare where we're at right now about 10 days before the election to 10 days before the election in 2016. >> great to be on, thank you. the big difference between where we are now and where we are four years ago is that more states are in play right now, including extremely positive polling in new mexico and in minnesota. to cite just two examples. another huge difference, hillary clinton when she was running four years ago, she was arguably in her prime, when she was running. joe biden is a shadow of who he used to be. i mean, we just saw he concluded his remarks, he seemed like an angry person shouting in an empty parking lot for 30 minutes. it was completely incoherent and the american people saw it in the debate. the sharp contrast between
9:11 am
president trump, somebody who is vite r vital, energy, has a vision and frankly, somebody who has completely been exhausted of all energy, all vim, all vigor in joe biden towards the end of the debate. >> i think thrs this is the first time we saw the former vp do two events, two in michigan, but in a state. exactly tied in the polling average, behind just as much as four years ago. you say new mexico and minnesota are possibly in play, but it seems as though things are looking a lot worse in north carolina, pennsylvania, michigan, than they were four years ago, does that mean the map is changing? >> no, i completely disagree. if you look at where we were for in our years ago, the map
9:12 am
is larger, and joe biden's comments on fracking and oil and i heard the shout fest in the parking lot and heard her shout i wasn't going to ban fracking. just two days ago, he said he was going to end the oil industry. last time i checked fracking was part of the oil industry. his website says zero carbon emissi emission. no carbon, no fracking. he put pennsylvania out of play and out of reach with those comments and new mexico. new mexico is another state that has a great need for energy and oil production and you end that and you put new mexico and pennsylvania and ohio into a depression. we're just beginning to see. you'll see it show up in the polls in a few days, consequences of those comments. leland: an interesting point, the president at some of the events, i don't see the monitors set up, but in pennsylvania, but in denver,
9:13 am
colorado, biden's comments on oil warning resolve-- >> the headline there is telling. stephen, so much in 2016, so much of the race was about the issue you've focused on for the past four years on your work in the white house on immigration. came up with the debate not the same intensity as four years ago. take a listen to joe biden's attack on the president and we'll get your reaction. >> made the mace mistake, took too long to get it right. took too long. i'll be president of the united states, not vice-president of the united states and the fact is i've made it very clear within 100 days i'm going to send to the united states congress a pathway to citizenship for over 11 million undocumented people and all of those so-called dreamers, those daca kids, they're going to be immediately certified again to be able to stay in this country and put on a path to
9:14 am
citizenship. leland: this would be the question. saying that in 2016, the president would have been all over that because it was such a key issue with republican voters. it doesn't seem to be as-- such a toxic issue with republican voters this time around. why not? >> few issues motivate swing voters and independent voters more than immigration and border security and that's going to be the same thing this time around. frankly, a central issue. leland: stephen, the polling is very different in 2020 than in 2016. that's not showing up. immigration is not showing up top one, top two issues for republican voters the way it did in to 16, it's just not. >> if you ask republicans-- i'm not talking just about republicans, but independents and joe biden wants to increase refugees 700% turning minnesota into a refugee camp. that moves swing voters. that moves independent voters.
9:15 am
you look at arizona, the big debate, the president and joe biden had and the president crushed biden on this was catch and release. if you implemented joe biden's catch and release plan in arizona, that state will be overwhelmed by hundreds of thousands, millions of illegal immigrants because they get apprehended they get issued a court date they get released. these are issues that are going to cost joe biden. last point it's important. when joe biden says first 100 days, he will give citizenship to illegal aliens, it will bankrupt social security and-- hospitals. leland: stephen, i have to give equal time to the other side. getting a lot of sleep, and more on the campaign. and chris wallace has rnc's
9:16 am
ronna mcdaniels and check your time and channels. and howard kurtz aaron perine. tomorrow. gillian: battle ground north carolina, president trump is set to speak to those in lumberton when he starts. and next, the senate is in session right now, today and tomorrow. they're deciding the fate of president trump's supreme court candidate, that's amy coney barrett. the senate judiciary committee member chuck grassley will join us.
9:18 am
9:20 am
>> live pictures of the supreme court where if republicans get their way they'll have a ninth justice, amy coney barrett. live pictures to the floor of the senate for a rare saturday session. gillian and i are used to working on saturdays, as is lucas tomlinson. we'll hear from him in a second exactly what is the procedural part of the senate's process the next few days to confirm amy coney barrett. republicans say they have their votes. let's listen in to chuck schumer in one of the many democratic attempts to delay
9:21 am
the process. >> everyone should be wearing a mask. but as we speak, millions of americans are using their voices to say who they want to select supreme court justices. at the same time, the republican majority in the senate is ramming through the lifetime appointment of a judge, of a justice who will make hugely impactful decisions about their lives and freedom, and leader mcconnell has the te termerity between merrick garland and amy coney barrett and how they're treating her? give me a break. our colleagues are saying to the american people, you get no say. you get no choice. four years ago when a democratic president nominated a justice, republicans
9:22 am
professed to care about giving the american people a voice. not so now. not when a republican nominated justice-- >> chuck schumer, i along with the-- listing a long list of grievances that he and fellow democrats have with the republicans over not only the amy coney barrett nomination, how it's handled, how the vote is handled. just for a little bit of context, rare saturday session for the senate. amy coney barrett was voted out of the judiciary committee with no votes from democrats because they boycotted the judiciary committee vote and now we have this saturday and sunday session for a possible monday confirmation vote by republicans who have just enough, if you believe the nose count, to get amy coney barrett through and confirmed to be the next associate justice of the united states supreme court, gillian. gillian: on that note, the key committee that's already voted amy coney barrett through is the judiciary committee.
9:23 am
we are standing by now and throughout the weekend because monday the senate is going to be voting her through the entire body. it's a busy week on capitol hill. until then take a listen to our reporter lucas tomlinson. he joins us now. >> well, gillian, it sounds more prefunctory at this point. the democrats are not boycotting this rare weekend of congress to push amy coney barrett over the goal line. earlier senator joni ernst to sits on the judiciary committee weighed in. >> we're seeing a lot of political maneuvers, shenanigans coming from the democratic leader chuck schumer, trying to draw this out, call it an illegitimate process, which is absolutely incorrect. it is a legitimate process. i would challenge him to show me in the constitution where it is not. >> democrats are outraged by what they call an abuse of power. >> here in leader mcconnell's
9:24 am
senate, the majority lives by the rules of "because we can" they completely ignore the question of whether they should. it's a complete contradiction of the supposed principle that same party so vehemently argued only four years ago. >> but the senate majority leader disagrees. >> the president has a role to play and the senate has a role to play and at various times in the history of our country, the senate's been pretty passive about it. at other times, they've been pretty aggressive about it, but the constitution is clear, the senate had a role if it chooses to exercise it. >> alaska senator lisa murkowski remains opposed to the confirmation vote days before the election day. murkowski is the only undecided senator right now. susan collins is the lone no
9:25 am
vote in the senate. the rest will vote to confirm amy coney barrett. only a majority is leaded to confirm a supreme court nominee. confirmation vote monday night followed by what is likely a victory lap by the republicans. leland, gillian. gillian: so judge amy coney barrett you heard it there is set to be confirmed as soon as two days from now, but until then it's a very busy weekend on capitol hill. the senate is in session today and tomorrow. we bring in president pro tempore of the senate and a key commission senator chuck grassley. thank you for being with us on this important and busy saturday. we appreciate it. lots of activity over there on capitol hill this weekend. i had an old boss who used to say to me, don't confuse activity for output. so my question to you is, sir, is any of the speeches and meetings impact the outcome, the end goal for monday? >> no, it will be 51-49, 52-48
9:26 am
and we know that right now, and it would be a good thing if senator schumer would let us hold right now and then use the rest of saturday, sunday, and monday to talk about the covid legislation that they won't let us bring up as a vote earlier this week. i think it's a great week that we're having, a great weekend we're having in the sense of getting the third supreme court justice under president trump. president trump promised that the type of people he's going to put on the supreme court and this is the third one of that type, what you might call a strict constructionist as opposed to what democrats normally put on, justices that like to legislate and things like that. so, it's a great day and you heard from my colleague senator ernst. she's here this weekend working on it as well. and it is an extraordinary
9:27 am
session, but to get ninth justice on, it's very important that we do this. gillian: so, if this goes according to your plan and amy coney barrett gets confirmed-- or gets pushed through the entire senate monday she will do so along a party line vote, as you mentioned, sir, it's the first in history and we know you and your republicans would rather take it than leave it so this is the best you could do right now. do you feel good about that, about the precedent that it sets going into the future to have not a single member of the opposition endorse your candidate? >> well, we had the same vote for kavanaugh, as you know, and i think we had the same vote for gorsuch. it's a little different if you have a republican president. if you have a democrat president like we did with the two democrats that, like sotomayor and kagan, that the president president put on, a lot of republicans voted for
9:28 am
them, but i think democrats feel a little more comfortable being very, very partisan about it as opposed to republicans because sotomayor and kagan got a lot of republican votes when we had a democrat president and even some of the times when we had a democrat senate. gillian: yeah, fair point. so former vp joe biden says that if he wins in november, he's going to appoint possibly a special commission to look into adding justices to the bench, what we colloquially refer to as court packing. what do you think about that. >> we've had nine justices for 150 years. there have been times when we've had less than nine justices and i think that it's their way-- or it would be biden's way of satisfying the sanderistas, the
9:29 am
progressive wing of his party who are demanding this to put a 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th member on the supreme court because they want a majority that i described as people who are judicial activists, people that want -- when there's a void in a 50-year-old law, they will satisfy say the supreme court ought to put it in. well, that's a big difference between barrett and a lot of people that democrats put on the supreme court because she said, my job is to interpret law not to make law. so, if there's something that you don't like about the staut e, don't come to the supreme court to get the void filled in. let congress do what congress does that is to legislate and that's the checks and balances of government. gillian: and i understand that adding a judge would move us towards potentially politicizing the court, if they're free to add justices as they want to going forward, and
9:30 am
sets a precedent that not a lot they're comfortable with. and democrats say nothing in the constitution prevents us from doing it and republicans through the process of rushing through supreme court justices has brought us to this place where the rules are now, we will do whatever we can. no holds barred. >> well, that's where this election all comes about, with senator schumer, let's say, putting in $200 million in iowa to beat joni ernst because he wants to take control of the united states senate and he says everything is on the table. packing the supreme court are one of the things that are on the table and also doing away with the 60-vote requirement in the united states senate so they can do things in a partisan way. today the senate is the only institution in our political system forces bipartisanship because 53 republicans can't get anything done, i'm talking legislation not judges.
9:31 am
you can't pass a bill unless you've got bipartisan for it. you've got to keep the 60-vote requirement in the senate. gillian: thank you, senator for taking time out for an important day for you and your colleagues on capitol hill. we hope to have you back soon. >> thank you. gillian: senator grassley. leland: and president trump joined the 50 million americans who have already voted in florida. he's now landed in north carolina and he's now on his way to lumberton. you can see the stage set up there. aishah hasnie standing by with what the president is going to talk about in lumberton. >> hi, leland, yeah, that's right. thousands of folks, trump supporters are waiting for the president to arrive. he has wheels on the ground en route to the fairgrounds here and we are going to bring it to you live as soon as the president arrives here in lumberton.

>> fox news alert here. 12:35 eastern time, which is the same time in lumberton, north carolina where the president begins the first of three swing states on this saturday. north carolina, ohio and then wisconsin this evening. aishah hasnie live in lumberton where folks began trickling in this morning. and the camera is moving over. we're wondering if the president's motorcade is about to pull in. he landed in fayetteville, north carolina, about 30 minutes away. the home of fort bragg. these are all key counties for president trump, as he is going to try and keep north carolina red. north carolina, he won by just a couple of points last time around. it's a state that democrats think they can pick up. aishah hasnie, in the issue of early voting, democrats seem to be really, really, emboldened,
9:37 am
happy, pick your adjective about early voting results out of north carolina. the supporters of the president that you've talked to there, they already voted or they're saying they're going to wait until election day? give us that sense. >> ♪ >> hey, leland, look, some folks have already voted because the president has been urging his supporters to get out and vote and he himself voted early today down in florida and we've talked to some folks who say, yeah, they've already gone out and cast their ballots. some want to wait until election day. the state is incredibly important to folks who know it is, 15 electoral votes are up for grabs. now, trump did win north carolina back in 2016 by only about 173,000 votes. today more than 2.6 million people have already voted and cast their ballots. here is the thing, lee lapped, this is where democrats might be happy, nearly half of those
9:38 am
votes are democratic, registered democratic votes and the other half split pretty much evenly between independents and republicans. more people are early voting this year than back in 2016. now, this will be the president's third trip to north carolina just this month. this is incredibly important to him. more registered democrats actually live in the state and even more than unaffiliated or registered republicans, so, again, another point that democrats are happy about. the polls are very interesting, leland. because they're sewing neck and neck real politics average and they're showing biden and trump really-- biden not leading by more than a point and a half margin and the trump campaign is going to be spending a lot of money here, the rnc and the trump campaign collectively will spend about $50 million in ads in north carolina, and four other states.
9:39 am
so, again, emphasizing the importance of this battle ground state. something else at play here, the courts have recently ruled that ballots in north carolina can be received up to nine days after the election and that has been seen as a pretty big win for democrats here as well. leland. >> aishah hasnie trying to be heard over the rally play list, sometimes can get loud in these events. we'll check back there when the president takes the stage. thank you. gillian. gillian: doing great. millions of americans have already voted. more than 50 million to be precise with recordbreaking turnout in the state, also for the first time in history new yorkers will be able to cast ballots early in a presidential election, it starts today. we're joined by alex hogan who is in new york city. alex, what's the latest on the ground. >> gillian, behind me you'll see the entrance to madison

9:41 am
17 million did so in person and nearly 36 million did so by mail. state to state rules vary when ballots need to get there. yesterday in maine the supreme court turned down a deadline that would have accepted all mail-in votes post marked by november 3rd. the state requires mail-in ballots in the hand of election workers by the end of election day. now, back here, there's still more than a week to go until election day and many of these voters, they've been here and waited in hours' long lines. and they know who they want to vote for. and remaining americans are waiting to make their pick. gillian: thank you. record numbers of new covid-19 infections in the united states now. which of those states are seeing the biggest jumps in reported infections? we've got the report to break it down for you next. bradley, get a freshly made subway footlong instead.

>> we'll keep watching the stage in lumberton, north carolina, president trump on the first of his three states, swing state saturday rally. he voted earlier. we've got north carolina, and then he heads to ohio and then wisconsin. north carolina is a fascinating state in terms of the its electoral history. as we look back, it went for president bush in 2000, bush in '04, obama in '08, romney in
9:53 am
'12 and president trump. and this is one of the states that the biden campaign is looking for a pickup. they're one and a half ahead in the real clear politics. gillian, what makes it interesting is a republican history when it comes to the presidential race and republican history when it comes to senate races and then a very long streak of having democratic governors. so there's reasons for both parties here to view this as a pickup. gillian: a true swing state, which is why they're both travelling through here in coming days. the other issue that north carolinians are tracking is the coronavirus. the state has seen over 255,000 infections, more than 4,000 north carolinians have died from the virus. we're learning today more about this outbreak between october 4th and 11th during which over 100 people contracted the virus, a few of them did die linked to a church event there.
9:54 am
this is something president trump is-- the white house i should say is tracking closely as he heads into this state today. leland: yeah, it's -- you're looking there at lumberton, north carolina, i'm not sure that crowd is all that concerned universally with the coronavirus. looks just from my rough count, a third of the people have masks on and a majority does not. and they're taken temperatures and asked to wear a masks, but not required to. the juxtaposition, i don't know if we have the pictures, the juxtaposition of a trump rally and a biden event that we saw earlier in pennsylvania in terms of the social distancing and sort of how in your face the coronavirus precautions are is jarring. it's the way, it's really a view how different these two candidates view the world and view the virus itself. it's central to joe biden's campaign saying this is something that we need to have
9:55 am
be front and center, front and center for his voters. trump campaign obviously says we need to open the country up and focus on the economy. we understand the mode cade just pulled up. even though the president is a couple of minutes later we expect him to take the stage soon. >> listening to the vice-president an hour ago, the remarkable the tooting horns interrupting while he was speaking. he rolled that format of people doing drive-ins, drive-thrus, that his campaign stuck with. president trump is encouraging folks to show up in person. you can see them there, it's a sizable crowd. jason miller on our era couple of days ago says at every single rally, masks are being handed out to people who want to take them. he says most people actually accept them, whether they go on to actually put them on their faces or not is something that's up to them. they're not enforcing that, but they're now making moves to try
9:56 am
and encourage people to wear masks at these events. leland, you pointed out, doesn't look like a whole lot of folks in the crowd are wearing masks right now, but they do look excited to be there. leland: yeah and we understand at the the president's next stop which is in ohio they've already begun bringing crowds in. so you think about how these are staged in terms of being able to get people to the rallies. people have to come hours upon hours ahead of time, and you don't just show up right before the president is going to be there. at the event in ohio, they have the ohio state game on jumbotrons to give entertainment. and lumberton, north carolina, i think that's the press pool walking up behind the risers. you see a group with backpacks. you think of lumberton, north carolina, it's south of fayetteville, home of fort bragg, a military community,
9:57 am
very red area. that these are not what you call undecided, this is get out the vote operations, people excited about the president entice them not only to vote, but to encourage their friends and families who vote. and a big part of the trump campaign, our colleague kristin fisher has done a lot of reporting on this, it started four years ago of the president's victory, they've done an enormous amount to get data who the rally-goers are to contact them afterward in the get out the vote. >> the same as cell phone banks. >> to try and get people's information and follow up with them, have you voted? can you tell your friends to vote? do you know anybody else that we need to call? the group walking to the stage. we'll come back as the president takes the stage. this is the warm-up crowd. one of the interesting things about president trump's voters so often, there are people who
9:58 am
only turn out to vote for trurp. trump. the typical registration data that the republicans and rnc use today use are being supplemented by the president's own get out the vote operation and target what we would call the low propensity voters, who don't show up for any other election, but will show up for president trump. gillian: as you speak, it's another way in which president trump has really turned the tables in turns of traditional politics, we normally think of had home stretch before the election and get out the vote operations spearheaded by democrats, but that's become an equally valuable tool for the they learned that in 2016, they are sticking by it again this time around. they have got these phone banks with millions of people's phone numbers. they've got the e-mail addresses. and it's not just about right now. they have been staying in touch with these people for weeks, for months, and they are really going to key in on them and try
9:59 am
and get them to get out there over the next -- leland: yeah, if you get on one of their lists -- gillian: you can't ever get off of it. [laughter] leland: -- dozens of text messages about all sorts of different issues, and the more that people interact, depending on what rallies they go to, what e-mails they click on, the trump campaign uses that data to figure out what issues are most important and then begins to target you on facebook and other places based on that issue profuel. north carolina -- profile. north carolina does not have a huge oil and gas industry, which is something the president has been hitting on hard in the past 48 hours since the former vice president's comments there at the debate. former vp biden is still trying to clean that up. we heard him today earlier in bucks county, pennsylvania, saying i will not end fracking, which is a very different line than -- [laughter] perhaps what we've heard over the past couple of years from the former vice president. north carolina, though, cannot
10:00 am
underemphasize how important fort bragg is in the military group and military veterans that are in north carolina. it's a very heavy military community. you've got camp lejeune, you've got fort bragg, big military facilities, and then you also have a lot of military retirees and veterans in north carolina. so that's something we would expect to hear a lot from the president, about foreign policy, rebuilding the military, taking care of the troops. we're joined by florida congressman francis rooney who, obviously, represents another swing state where the president started his morning early voting. congressman, we appreciate you being here. in the past you have been, shall we say, skeptical of the president's tone and tenor during this campaign. i'm interested in, after you listened to the president at the debate on thursday night which was a very different president trump, if you're feeling the change at all.
10:01 am
>> well, i thought the president did a really good job. he was more presidential than the first debate. he hit some very important points, and i think that he exceeded expectations and, overall, did a very fine job getting his points out. leland: high marks from you. did that sort of change your opinion in terms of how you're looking at this? i know you haven't endorsed joe biden, but you certainly left open the door to vote for him. >> well, i think there's still a lot of issues lurking around here. first of all, we just saw the pictures on fox news of all the people at the trump rally standing next to each other with no masks. it's not a social justice issue for them, it's how much harm are they putting all of us in unnecessarily. leland: i guess the question would be though, sir, do you expect the trump campaign to demand everybody wear masks and say if you don't wear a mask, we're going to kick you out? they hand maskings out, take people's temperatures, the president has said masks work. >> how is it that the biden campaign seems to have everybody
10:02 am
wearing masks? leland: well, they don't have a lot of people standing around to begin with, but you make a good point. they say you wear a mask or you get out. interested in your thoughts on florida. president trump voted early. obviously, you represent naples, and he voted over in palm beach. already more people is have early voted in florida than voted for president trump in 2016. it shows you the level of intensity. are you feeling that also in the naples/fort myers lawyer? >> yes, leland are, we are -- area. first of all, i'd like to say that our area delivered 57,000 more votes for trump than they did for romney in 2012. two of our republican clubs were two of the three highest volunteer and phone call-making clubs in the state of florida. so we are a super important component of a republican victory in florida. and from what i understand from the visit of ivanka trump this week, it was standing room only and turning people away.
10:03 am
leland: that's saying something. what's motivating folks in that area? because we've heard the president continue, and the president's folks believe that the joe bidden/hunter biden money from china, money from burisma issue will motivate them. are you hearing that as well, or this more issue-based? >> well, i think it's a lot of it's just trump-based. i mean, i think that president trump in the 2016 campaign brought something out in our conservative republican people in district 19, and i think it's -- we're going to find out, but i believe it's going to be replicated now. leland: it's interesting, my friend mike allen over at axios just put out his morning note, and item number two, hunter biden dominates topics from the second presidential debate interaction, hunter biden, tony bobulinski, 1.3 million. biden comments about oil and fracking, 550,000. that sort of intersects two things.
10:04 am
one, your understanding of international business but, two, your long understanding that the oil business that you've been involved in as well. thinking about texas and other states that you spent a lot of time in, does biden's comments on fracking change things, do you think? >> well, i believe he clarified that, that what he was talking about was leasing and fracking on federal lands. which given the explosive boom in horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracking the last 20 years all around the country, federal lands are not as important as they used to be, which was also my argument with the president on offshore drilling which, fortunately, the president has extended the ban for ten years, and we appreciate him doing that. butting you know, fracking has been a -- but, you know, fracking has created energy independence for the united states and the western hemisphere, and it's very important that we continue to do it regardless of -- leland: yeah. congressman, we appreciate your time. you might be able to hear the
10:05 am
"god bless the usa" track playing at the rally which is the beginning of the president's performance. he's taking the stage there. congressman francis rooney of florida, we appreciate your time joining us here, a couple of days before the election. the president's working the crowd here. this is his first of three swing state rallies. he'll be here, then he goes to ohio, and then he goes to wisconsin. lumberton, north carolina, in the central part of north carolina, due south of fort bragg, north carolina. we'll see what the president has to su say. this is an area though, gillian, that's been hit hard in terms of manufacturing. textiles and the like, goes right to some of the president's core issues about the economy. gillian: president trump is going to address all of those issues where he's campaigning this afternoon. might mention the other big, hot button issue that he's focused on this weekend. we're inching forward to what is
10:06 am
the expected confirmation of supreme court, potential supreme court justice amy coney barrett. we're anticipating him touching on that. let's listen in to the president. ♪ ♪ and defend her still today 'cuz there ain't no doubt i love this land -- [cheers and applause] >> four more years! your -- four more years! >> thank you very much. it's great to be in lumbertop, and i'll tell you, we have a lot of friends here. we said let's do a quickie. we're on our way to wisconsin and ohio. we have some rallies, but we wanted to stop. i have a lot of friends in this group, so thank you very much. [cheers and applause] and ten days from now, can you believe it? ten days, ten days.
10:07 am
seemed like it would never happen, right? four years. ten days we're going to win the state of north carolina -- [cheers and applause] and we're going to win four more years in the white house. at the debate this week, the american people saw a contrast between a 47-year career politician who's seen better days, and he used public office and really has used public office to enrich himself. you've seen that, right? and a businessman who entered public service -- believe me, we me, it's only a loss of money. [laughter] i did e this, and i did it gladly because nobody has ever done what we've done in the last four years if you look at it. nobody's been able to do it. [cheers and applause] for the last half a century, joe biden's been outsourcing your jobs, opening your borders and sacrificing american blood and treasure in endless and ridiculous foreign wars.
10:08 am
i fight for the middle class, and biden and his cronies serve only one class, they serve the donor class, believe it or not. now, in all fairness to donor class, i would be the greatest in history. all i have have to do is call them, send 10 million, send 10 million. everyone would send 10 million. but once you do that, you can no longer do what's right for you. and it's just one of those little things. in 2016 north carolina voted to fire this depraved political establishment, and you elected an outsider as your president. happened to be me. [cheers and applause] and we're winning america. and i love the sound of that drum. that sound -- [cheers and applause] that's why i'm here. these people, that's why i'm here. that's why i'm here for these people, right? [cheers and applause] you didn't think i'd come, did you, huh? they didn't think. because they haven't been treated well for a long time,
10:09 am
the right? you haven't been treats well, but now -- treated well, but now you're being treated well. you work hard, you raise your families, you follow your laws, you support your church, you serve your community, and you give your love and your loyalty to your country. but now you finally have a government and a president that is loyal to you. [cheers and applause] joe biden's allegiance is to his donors, and my allegiance is to the people of this country. that's it. that's it. at every meeting and every situation in dealing with every foreign leader, i am your voice, and together we are the voice of a great country. we are the voice of the united states of america. and we are respected again as a country. not like in the past where everybody took advantage of us. [cheers and applause] we're the voice for every citizen who has been neglected,

abandoned, ignored and forgotten. and maybe that's another reason i'm here, because this is a group that's been forgotten. [cheers and applause] on november 3rd we will insure the forgotten men and women of our country are never forgotten again. and i said that four years ago -- [cheers and applause] i said that four years ago, and they said where are all these people coming from? and, by the way, or just a little secret, you've got to see all the people that are voting. they haven't figured it out yet, the fake news. [laughter] check out what's going on in florida. check out the numbers. i'm not talking about the polls. the polls, you know, although we have some good polls too. but they're the honest ones. is that sun hot or what? [cheers and applause] i'm going to be a lobster. you mind if i cut this one at about one-third? because i'm going to be one hell of a sunburned person.
10:11 am
does anybody are some sun protection for your president, please? this is beautiful. oh, man. i say to my kids, stay out of the sun, always use sun block. always use sun block, and here i am. that's really brilliant. with your vote, we will continue to bring back your jobs, lower drug prices, cut your taxes, continue to cut regulations. even more important than taxes, you know? you got the biggest tax cut in the history of our country. i got it for you. but you also got the biggest regulation cut in history, and unit to know the truth? -- you want to know the truth? probably the reason we're coming back stronger than anybody -- they're going crazy. this is not a v anymore, it's a super v. wait until you see the numbers. you support our police, protect our second amendment, defend our

[cheers and applause] true. i have a friend from a country in europe that used to take a dollar bill, everybody took a dollar bill, and they put it in their -- because they wanted to know it was made in america. then we lost that pride, we lost it. but we're getting it at a level that nobody would have thought possible. [cheers and applause] and remember when i first started campaigning, they wouldn't use the words merry christmas?
10:13 am
they'd say happy new year. everything would be in red and snow and all the stuff, but they'd say happy new year. and i said they will soon start saying merry christmas again. now they're all saying merry christmas. [cheers and applause] we will deliver record prosperity, epic job growth -- >> four more years! four more years! four more years! four more years! four more years! four more years! >> thank you. you know, i just watched biden making a speech, and he goes, oh, thank you for everybody. thank you. you know, people in cars. i don't get it. they're in cars. there were so few cars, i've never seen an audience like this. and he's going, he's going, oh, thank you, all those people out there. there's like a few cars. [laughter] and the cars weren't in a little circle, they were too close together, i think. they weren't socially distanced.
10:14 am
but there were so few of them, it didn't -- no, but he's going like this. and then the, i'll tell you, his partner, the media, they made a tragic mistake. they showed the crowd, it was a disaster. [laughter] they were screaming, don't do it! don't do it, don't show the crowd. we love to show the crowd. my problem is they never, they never show the crowd. [cheers and applause] they never show the crowd. i'm watching, i'm just -- i just can't -- you know with, you should watch, right? because you're supposed to, like, learn. you can't watch. it's not watchable. but he's going like this, thank you all those people out there, thank you very much. [laughter] thank you. actually, i didn't think he had that kind of sense in him to do that, to be honest. i was surprised he did that, actually. but they showed it. it was a tiny, tiny little crowd. you heard a couple of horns, honk, honk. [laughter] the weirdest thing.
10:15 am
you make a speech and you have people honking. i like the drum behind me better -- [cheers and applause] because that really represents something. [cheers and applause] look at those women, they follow me all over the place. look at 'em back there. is see those women? they're very wealthy women from north carolina. and i saw them two rallies ago. this isn't a rally, this is a get together with friends of mine. this one. [cheers and applause] but they go, i saw them two rallies ago in north carolina. you know, you have a big state because it was, like, seven hours away from where they live. they live in a very wealthy area, i suspect. but there are, like, ten of them, and they follow -- and i said how many is it so far? they said, 61. i said you mean you've gone to 61 rallies? and then the last time, we saw them two nights ago, they were with their husbands. it can't be that easy to be
10:16 am
married to them if they're going to follow 61 -- [laughter] so i gave their husbands tremendous -- where are their husbands? two of the husbands are right there. two of 'em. we have a good time, right? we have a good time. you have great wives. you have great women. they're great women. thank you very much it's always an honor. we have a lot of people they follow. they hate to say this, we have someone who comes in -- you know, the wall is almost complete, okay? can you believe? [cheers and applause] but the brick represents -- and mexico is paying for the wall. they'd like to have you say, no, no. once it was complete, once they knew the wall, oh, we can't talk about the wall anymore, they said, ah, listen, mexico's not paying for it. yeah, they are paying for it, so now they're totally -- they don't know what the hell to do. just one of those things. they don't know what to do. but anyway, it's a great honor to have you all. great friends. some great friends right here. we appreciate it. this election is a choice
10:17 am
between a trump super recovery and a biden depression. okay? oh, by the way, are you going to ohio tonight? ohio and wisconsin. ohio, you should hop a plane, come on. maybe we'll take them on air force one tonight, husbands. we'll lee you behind. [laughter] it can definitely carry them, that's for sure. one thing about air force one, there's always plenty of room. probably got more television sets than air force one than at any department store in the country, i suspect. but it's a choice between a trump super boom and a biden lockdown. did you hear him the other night? it's going to be a cold, dark winter. very inspiring guy, very, just very inspiring. whoa. i even said, whoa, whoa. now we've got to have spirit, our country. we're rounding the turn. we're doing great. our numbers are incredible.
10:18 am
and despite the fact that they're keeping certain states -- north carolina -- get your governor to open you up yor state, please. this guy should be defeeted. [cheers and applause] defeated. i think they're going to be voting for dan, your lieutenant governor. i think they're going to be voting for dan. you've got to get your governor to open your state. gotta him. it's just crazy what's going on here. they're keeping it closed until the election. the numbers are so good. the fed, atlanta fed, i guess, i think it was the atlanta fed, they a think a gdp 35%. now who knows? i'd take 20 right now. i'd take 15 right now. they predicted just two days ago that 35% gdp, nobody's ever heard of that before. it's never been. [cheers and applause] , i think the record is 7 or 8%, right? so we'll be at 35. i would say that's not doing too
10:19 am
bad. i would not put joe in charge, because you will come crashing down. because he wants to raise your taxes massively. how about the other night in the debate? he was doing okay, he was doing okay. he was going -- and then the last question, i said do you mean you'd get rid of oil? he said, yes, i'd wean ourselves off of oil. i said we just won texas, we just won pennsylvania, we just won a lot of different places. [applause] and then they spent the next two days trying to convince you that he didn't really mean that. nah, joe's not what, joe is not what you need. i know what you need. i know what you need. you need trump. i know what you need. [cheers and applause] we're making such deals. even -- that's all right, don't worry. even as an example, we got off that crazy iran deal, right? the iran nuclear deal.
10:20 am
where obama gave 'em $150 billion for the privilege. we're making deals in the middle east. they're signing up like hot cakes, right? no blood in the sand, no nothing. no wars. we just signed yesterday sudan. so we have bahrain, we have united arab emirates led by a great leader, a great warrior, and we have many others right in the back. can you imagine if somebody else had to take over the negotiations of the middle east deal? that would be the end of it. you could say bye bye, middle east peace. they'd spend a thousand times more money, we're spending nothing. we're getting them to be smart. they don't want to fight. you know, they fought so long. even though a lot of them are warriors, they're tired of. everybody's tired. 19 years in afghanistan we served as policemen. you know, we're like policemen in afghanistan. we could win that thing so easy, but we're like policemen. and it's enough.
10:21 am
19 years, would you say 19 years is enough? we bring 'em home, right, dan? we bring 'em home, we're bringing our troops back home. i'm taking a lot of heat. i'm taking a lot of heat from the military industrial complex. did you ever hear of that? the military industrial complex doesn't like that they'll bringing them -- that i'm bringing them back home. but if it's okay, we're bringing them back home. [cheers and applause] our troops are coming back home. we're in countries that you've never heard of, and they don't even appreciate it, on top of it. they don't even appreciate it. no, we're bringing them back home. if joe biden and his democrat socialists gain power, they will delay the vaccine which is happening, i mean, we got 'em, they're coming real soon. in fact, if it weren't for politics, i wouldn't be surprised if they weren't here before. but that doesn't matter. johnson and is johnson, moderna, we have many great companies, pfizer, all right there. supposedly e they're doing that
10:22 am
final test, and it's coming. they prolong the pandemic. that's all i hear about now. that's all -- turn on television, covid, covid. covid, covid, covid, covid. a plane goes down, 500 people dead, they don't talk about it. covid, covid, covid. by the way, on november 4th you won't hear about it anymore. [applause] covid! covid! please don't go and vote, covid. please do not under any circumstance, you cannot go out and vote. except the problems are that in florida the people that are going out to vote, nobody's ever seen anything like it. because they're tired of all of this stuff. they're tired of such negativity -- hey, by the way, i had it. here i am. [cheers and applause] here i am. and now they say i'm immune. now, it used to be, it used to be that if you had it, you were
10:23 am
immune for life, right? for life. with me they say i'm immune for four months. in other words -- [laughter] once i got it, the immunity went town from life to four months. i don't know, they don't know anything. who the hell knows? all i know is that for a little while, at least four months i can run and kiss every one of you, men and women. [cheers and applause] i'll kiss every one of them. i'll kiss them. no, no, it's, you know, you get over it and then you're immune. you know, for whatever period of time. no, it's true. you heard for life you're immune, right? as soon as i got it i said i was immune, they said only for four months. they brought it down because that's the fake news, they're fake. the cases are up, but listen to this, they all talk about cases. you don't see death, death. cases. cases. you know why we have cases? because we test so much, and in many ways it's good, and in many ways it's foolish, okay?
10:24 am
in many ways it's foolish because every time you test, like for instance barron trump, did you ever hear of power ron trump? [cheers and applause] he's a rather tall young man. he's tall and he's a good kid and he's strong. but he had it. they said, sir, madam, i'm sorry to inform you, your son has tested positive, barron. i said, oh, no. 15 seconds later, sir, your son no longer has it. [laughter] no, it's true. i said how's barron doing? oh, he's fine. i said, what do you mean? no, he's fine. they have a very strong 'em up moon system. 99.9 something. go back to school, north carolina. go back to school. barron trump. [cheers and applause] a legend. he's a legend, he got rid of it so fast. but the kids get rid of it fast. strong immune systems. the mortality rate is down 85%
10:25 am
because of the therapeutics and all. they learned. i mean, they know what to do. in other words, by doing all of this testing, we have the best in the world, i get calls all the time if leaders, your testing is the best in the world. i said you don't test? no. that's why they have no cases or very few cases. you know the cases they have? when somebody's sick, they call it a case. i said to one gentleman who's very tough, very tough man, runs a tough country, i said do you test? yes. when somebody comes into the hospital and throws up all over the floor, we test. but we never test other than that. i said so do you have cases? no, we have very few cases. so we show more cases because we test. so barron trump, as an example, it's a case. all the kids are a case. and, by the way, they're very young now. you know, they're testing schools and high schools and this and that. and what it does is it gives the
10:26 am
fake news media something to talk about. so they say cases are up in the united states. that's because we test. india has 1.5 billion people, and they do testing. they test a tiny fraction of the number of people that we test. so the good news is that we know where it is, etc., and we have to protect our seniors, and that's really the most important thing. but when you see all this stuff -- watch. they'll go home, cases are up. cases are up. and i saw it today, but that's because the test -- does that make sense? now, if we cut it in half, and by the way, spend a lot of money on testing too. we're not allowed to say we're spending billions of dollars on testing. but if we tested half, cases would be half. and they'd have a headline, cases drop magnificently. but they want us to test, test, test. and part of the reason is that. we're dealing with some very bad
10:27 am
people. we're dealing with some good ones too, by the way, some good journalists, but we have a lot of very bad people. you saw that recently where they're trying to protect sleepy joe and his family from total corruption. i mean, this is totally corrupt. so they refuse -- i give "the new york post," my hometown paperer, right? "the new york post," fourth largest paper in the country, the oldest paper by far, founded by alexander hamilton, if i remember the headline correctly. alexander hamilton, not bad. new york post is really doing the thing. and they banned "the new york post" from social media. can you believe it? "the new york"the new york poste posted. but you know what? they're doing very well, and they're very proud of the job they're doing, and the country is very proud of the new york post. but others like "the new york times," they won't cover it. they won't cover this massive corruption that's taking place where his son follows his father into a foreign country, and he's
10:28 am
like a human vacuum cleaner. the son had no job, no nothing. unfortunately, was forced out of the military. and all of a sudden he's making millions of dollars a year. he goes to work for $183,000 a month on the board of an energy company that has very questionable reputation. $183, burisma. and he's on the board, $183,000 a month. his father is in charge of ukraine. right? his father is in charge of -- obama, i was surprised he gave him this much responsibility. his father's in charge of russia, ukraine and china. no, no, think of this. >> lock him up! lock him up! e lock him up! lock him up! >> they put, they put joe,
10:29 am
sleepy joe, in charge of three countries; russia, ukraine and china. right? is that right? you don't mind if i go off teleprompter. this is more interesting. [cheers and applause] they put him in charge. see, if i he can't do that. he can't even go on teleprompter. [laughter] listen, so he's got russia, he's got ukraine, he's got china. okay. so russia, the mayor of moscow's wife, who's a very wealthy man, she's a very wealthy woman, retired, gave him $3.5 million. i wonder why? must be for his great knowledge of markets. but they gave him 3.5. so when i asked at the debate about it, chris wallace said you can't ask hum that question. i said, why not, chris? kristin welker did a great job. and now chris wallace is going around saying -- did you see 91% for trump, 9% for sleepy joe.
10:30 am
did you see that? [cheers and applause] a poll. that's when i like polls, you know, when i get 'em in my favor, i like them. when they come in my favor, i repeat them all the time. i say they're great. when they're not in my favor, i don't discuss that. but they are wrong. or they are so wrong. the worst follows are the fox polls, believe it or not. they're the worst. if you see that poll -- same thing i had four years ago. nine states guaranteed loss. i go into the election, i'm saying, man, this is going to be embarrassing tonight. darling, this is going to be a very embarrassing evening. i'm not used to losing. out of nine, i'm down all nine, i'm going to lose all nine. at the end of the evening, i won all nine. [cheers and applause] i was9 9-9. i was 9-9, and i said i think these polls are a little bit off. well, they do it on purpose. you know, it's suppression. they want to depress you.
10:31 am
so that you, your beautiful wife, you go out, and they say, you know, we lo our president, or before president, we really like donald trump a lot, but the polls are saying he can't win. these polls are much better than four years ago. in fact, now they're getting awfully close. you know, because they can't be embarrassed a second time, so they're getting a little bit too close. people are very angry at the polls, but it's suppression. you know, we really like him a lot, we'll go to a movie because we know he can't win, then we'll watch this horrible, horrible defeat of a person who could have been great president. and they come home and what happens is millions of people do that, except for one problem four years ago. finish they said let's go and vote instead of seeing a movie. the movies are no good anyway. they don't make 'em like they used to, i can tell you that. we like those old movies much
10:32 am
better, right? no, so they go out and they vote. and all of a sudden remember hillary said the deplorables? whoever thought that crooked hillary, i watched the, i watched that expression. she called people deplorables, right? and do you remember the other word she used? >> [inaudible] >> very good, that's a historian. i didn't think anybody would get -- i love these little tests, you know? no, i love these little tests. that's right. irredeemable. and i said that's a horrible word, irredeemable. but it wasn't irredeemable that caught on to me. to me, that's worse than a deplorable, right? which is worse? i think irredeemable. i said she just called half of the people in the nation irredeemable and deplorable. i watched it live. it was not the most exciting speech, and i thought, oh, that's a very nasty -- the next day the t-shirt was the number one, it was a disaster.
10:33 am
whoever wrote that line for her, he should be out of politics forever, do we agree? i mean, it was a disaster. so anyway, these are just little sidelines that i give you while i'm baking in the sun. my people are genius are. you know, they have a very powerful head of hair. if they would have turned me this way, it would have hurt me on the hair, and it wouldn't have hurt. in fact, it would have made me even more blond. i'm fighting for every american including native americans! e. [cheers and applause] why i'm here, native americans. [cheers and applause] that's why we're here. the last administration promised to bring hope and change to indian country, but they clearly abandoned you the moment they got your vote. and they went to washington. that's what they do. by the way, african-americans, for three and a half years they
10:34 am
treat 'em terribly, and then suggestion e months before the election they come and they say i'm going to give you everything. they get the vote and then they give them nothing. and now they're shocked because we're doing great with african-americans. we're doing great with hispanic-americans. [cheers and applause] it's gone on for a hundred years. give me your vote, give me your vote, and after the election's over it's like, gee, i don't remember you. let's talk in three that have years from now, right? under this administration you will never be abandoned. i will always stand the proudly with our incredible native american communities. always. [cheers and applause] last week i put forward a vision for indian country grounded in respecting tribal sovereignty, promoting safe communities and building a thriving economy, delivering better health care and protecting native american cultures, languages and history.
10:35 am
over the last four years, i created nationwide task force to combat the crisis of missing and murdered native americans, especially women and children. [cheers and applause] which is a tremendous problem. you know, i signed into law something about three months ago, and a lot of it having to do in arizona and new mexico, different places in the country. but it's a serious problem, what's, what happens with murder of women and children in indian country is a terrible thing. so we're working, we're working on it very hard. and for the first time, we have it funded well, it's well funded. and we're looking for these monsters. we're looking for these monsters that do it, and we're looking for people that are missing. it's a tremendous, tremendous problem. we provided nearly $450 million to support law enforcement and fight the opioid epidemic, and we've made really big progress.
10:36 am
[cheers and applause] [cheers and applause] and to defeat the virus, we made the largest investment in indian country in our history, so we're working very hard. the indian country has been hit very hard by the china plague. that's where it comes from. they say please don't mention china. i said, why? that's where it comes from. they call it can corona. it sounds like a beautiful seaside island in italy. no, it's not called corona, it's called the china plague. to deliver jobs and opportunity, we created more than 360 opportunity zones in native american communities. it's had a tremendous effect. [cheers and applause] tim scott, senator tim scott did that with me. i'm also supporting school choice for native americans and every parent all across america. [cheers and applause] with us today are members of the incredible l are umbie tribe which has been denied federal recognition for more than a century. [cheers and applause]
10:37 am
all i know is you have congressmen that want to get this moving. they said, sir, you have to be here with the lumbie tribe. i said, explain to me about the tribe, and they did. but you have congressmen that were with you all the way. they happen to be republican, but -- [cheers and applause] biden and obama promised to end this injustice a long time ago many times, and they broke their word every single time. just all talk. i told it to him the other night. joe, you been here for 47 years. but more importantly when you were here three and a half years ago, why didn't you do it? all this different stuff. we should have done this, we should is have done that. we should have closed earlier -- of course, he has one little problem because two and a half months later he thought i shouldn't close. i banned people from china
10:38 am
coming into our country. biden was totally against that, calls me xenophobic. now he says we should have done it sooner. no, he didn't want to do it at all. same thing with crazy nancy pelosi. nancy pelosi, crazy, she's crazy as a bedbug. nancy pelosi, in between stints without masks at beauty parlors -- hey, how about that beauty parlor owner? she was a trump fan, do you believe it? in san francisco. she was a big trump fan. and she didn't like what was happening. she didn't like seeing nancy pelosi raring at everybody for masks and then she walks in, hey, give me a haircut, whatever the hell you do to my hair. [laughter] give me something, give me something. i want something as fast as you can do it. no, that wasn't good, nancy, that wasn't good. but this turned out to be a trump supporter, can you believe it? in fact, i think i'm going to go there, maybe have my hair touched up a little bit because
10:39 am
she looked very talented. she's good. she looked good. when i'm reelected, i will proudly sign the lumbie recognition act that should have been signed a long time ago. [cheers and applause] and the people of north carolina want that. the people of north carolina want that, so that's good. that's great. finish all of your people are here, and it's great, it's a great thing. the people of north carolina want to see that happen. and your congressmen. but north carolina wants to see it happen. also with us today is sonny perdue, our great secretary of agriculture. where's sonny? i don't recognize you with a big mask. sonny, i'm very impressed, look at that. wow. you've come a long way, sonny. and he's a great secretary. we've given away, let's see,
10:40 am
we've given away $28 billion from china directly to our farmers and ranchers. [cheers and applause] right? i said, sonny, are let me ask you -- he's great, secretary of agriculture. i said, sonny, he knows more about farming. i interviewed nine people. they had one problem, they knew nothing about agriculture. one of them i said, have you ever been to a farm? no, sir. do you know what a horse is or a cow? yes, sir. pictures, little pictures. but i said you never been. and this was, you know, standard. i mean, it would have been perfect, but they knew nothing. i was all set to pick one of them because we're in the world of politics, right? sonny comes in, and i said he's been governor of georgia, very popular, for eight years. he was serving them, otherwise he'd still be there, although brian's doing a very good job, i have to say, really good job, the current governor. but sonny was a very popular politician in georgia. would have been there as long as he wanted to be. but it was eight years and i
10:41 am
said, look, i don't want to hire -- i don't want to look at this guy, he's like -- he's not perfect. he doesn't set them all, meaning he looks too much like me. okay? [laughter] i don't want that. and he comes in, and within 45 minutes i knew everything about farming. i knew everything about agriculture. i learned more in 45 minutes than i learned in 45 years of studying it. this guy is such a pro. [applause] and i said how much, i said, sonny, sonny per due, the great sonny purdue. i said, sonny, met me ask you -- let me ask you, china's targeting our farmers and ranchers. $12 billion from two years ago, right, sonny? $16 billion this year, maning last year. i said, good, we're going to tariff them, all of the goods coming in, and we we gave the farmers $12 billion and $16 billion, and the farmers love trump. i mean, they love trump, right?
10:42 am
[cheers and applause] how am i doing in iowa, by the way, sonny? am i doing okay? could you imagine if i lost in iowa or in nebraska? i don't think that happens. no. and we did the right thing. they were targeted. this is why no president's ever taken on china, because they play tough. they say we will target your farmers. well, you're a politician, you can't lose the entire midwest. in this case i won the entire midwest. remember when you first came over, you said, sir he shows me a map of the country, the entire middle of that map was red, red meaning republican, right? but this is why. so is they say, well, we're going to target your farmers so the politician president -- i said, oh, don't do that, let's delay action so they continue to lay us off. i didn't say that. i charged them 25% tariffs, i charge them tear rough ared on dumps steel. we took in much more than $28 billion, we took in 28 billion times many times, okay? and the rest went to the u.s.
10:43 am
treasury, if that's okay. but we gave $28 billion to our great farmers. that's why our farmers are all in good shape. [applause] and two weeks to go china, or you know, i signed a trade deal, but it's not the same. i thought it was so great. i signed a trade deal that was so good, it was so brilliant, it was this great deal. but i don't feel the same way. the ink was drying on the trade deal when we got hit by the plague. so it's different. does that make sense? it's just different. i don't feel the same. but two weeks ago, sonny, they ordered the largest -- china -- the largest ore of corn in the history of our country, the largest order of soybeans in the history of our country, and the largest order of beef in the history of our country. you know why? because they think i'm going to win, and they want me to be happy because they're smart. because they know the real numbers. you know, they are very smart. they know the real numbers. but, no, they want me to be happy. and i appreciate that order, but our farmers said something to me
10:44 am
that -- we had 'em in two years ago, and then we get hit hard by china and a lot of other factors. you know what i'm going to do? i'm going to give you a subsidy. they said, sir, we don't want a subsidy. we just want a level playing field. and they were upset by the word subsidy. remember that, sonny? everyone else comes in, we want money. foreign nations, everybody. except the farmers. the only time it happened. sir, we don't want a subsidy, all we want is a level playing field, and it's so unfair. farming's been doing -- going down for 20 years. and now we got it perfectly, we have the usmca instead of that horrible nafta deal that just kicked in. everyone said, impossible. and plenty of other things. we won't go into it, but our farmers are treated well. and china gave 28 billion with a b, billion, billion dollars that we divided among all of these great farmers.
10:45 am
and we have a lot of happy people out there. and we're in that position where we made a greet deal. but the bad part is what happened after the deal was made. we have some representatives here who have been incredible for native americans, for this particular area, by the way, for you more than anybody else, i have to say. [cheers and applause] congressman dan bishop, did you ever hear -- [cheers and applause] dan bishop and congressman richrd ard hudson. these are two great congressmen. thank you, dan, thank you, richard. and they did it, they were the ones that called. it wasn't anybody, it wasn't nancy. nancy was not in favor. it wasn't anybody else, it was these two guys more than anybody else. and is some help from some warriors, right? some real warriors. speaker of north carolina house, a great gentlemen, tim moore.
10:46 am
young, young tim moore we call him, right? good job you're doing. and a candidate for superintendent, katherine true wit. katherine, great. how we doing here, katherine? are we going good? are we going the win? are we going the win north carolina? we've got to win north carolina. [cheers and applause] i've been back here so much, i might as well just call it my home state, i've been here -- [laughter] [cheers and applause] sheep by joe doesn't make it -- sleepy joe doesn't make it too often. he likes delaware. joe biden will be speaking today, i said, watch, it's going to be delaware. it's delaware. you know, it's 15 minutes from -- no, you can't do that. to be president you need strength, you need energy. you need strength and energy. state gop chair, somebody's done a phenomenal job, of course, if we don't win the state, he'll be fired so fast, your head will spin. michael wattly.
10:47 am
michael. [applause] we're looking good, michael, huh? and chancellor cummings of the unc-pembroke, the chancellor has done a fantastic job. where's the chancellor? where's the chancellor. stand up, chancellor. great job. unc, that that's great. good area. pembroke. thanks also to susan tillis, wife of your great senator, who's making a very strong -- she's, oh, he's moving along. he's moving along. he's going up like a rocket ship. we won't tell you the reason why, he should go under his own merit, but susan, we'll take whatever it takes, right? this other guy he talked about honor, honor, it's going to be honorable. not one, but two. [laughter] no good. no good. thom tillis is a great guy, and he's really been were -- we've
10:48 am
gotten to know each other, i've got to tell you, he's great. i know he's out. i said don't come here, we got you covered here. we got him covered, right? [cheers and applause] go out and campaign. but i appreciate your being here, susan. say hello to thom. i think he's making it big. i think he's making it big. for years joe biden fought do cut your social security and medicare. you know that, right? he tries to deny it. a fact which joe, in a debate with crazy bernie sanders, tried to get out of. so today i want to show you, i brought it along. you know, we're giving you an a version, this is an a version. we're giving you the big rally version as opposed to a little get together with indian nation. but we're giving you the big deal. so i want to show you joe biden on social security. you can't cut social security, right? if you're a politician. watch this. the video, please.
10:49 am
>> let me ask you a question, joe. >> yeah. >> you're right here we me. >> yeah. >> have you been on the floor of the senate, you were in the senate for a few years. >> yep. >> time and time again talking about the necessity, with prude, about cutting social security, cutting med e care, cutting veterans' programs. >> no. >> you never said that? >> no. >> when i argued we should freeze social spending, i met social security as well. i met medicaid. i meant every single solitary thing in the government. >> look -- >> why don't you tell the truth here, we all make mistakes. >> i am telling the truth. and i not only tried it once, i tried it twice -- >> joe, let me repeat it again, i want you just to be straight with the american people. i am saying that you been on the floor of -- you have been on the floor of the senate time and time again talking about the need to cut social security, med e care and veterans programs.
10:50 am
is that true or -- >> no, it's not true. >> that is not true? >> that is not true. i meant every single, solitary thing in the government. everything was on the table. i did not support new of those cuts in social security or in veterans -- >> whoa, whoa, whoament everything was on the table. all right, you're right. you just said it. including, in your judgment, cuts to social security and -- >> in order to get the kinds of changes we need on other things -- >> joe -- >> but we did not cut it -- >> i know, because people like me helped stop that. all that i would say to the american people, go to youtube, it's all over the mace. joe said it many, many times. i'm surprised that you can defend that or change your mind on it, but you can't deny the reality. [cheers and applause] >> you know, i was making a speech a couple of weeks ago, that's how this happened. and there was a line in there done by a professional, and i don't usually use the speeches
10:51 am
too much because it gets a little cumbersome and boring. but i read one line that he cut and fought to cut and medicare. these are to two things politically you can't even think about. i've seen people go down 40 points if they even suggest it. so i say this must be wrong, it's wrong. they said, no, sir. i said there's no way it's true. then they go back and find out. he also wanted to cut aid to our vets. can you believe that one, right? so i we went back and we found the clip, and the speech writers turn out to be right. i couldn't believe it. so we put it up on occasion, and we're putting it up for you. so remember that. and he'll cut your social security. he doesn't care. he has no idea what's happening anywhere. as prime minister, i always -- as president, i will always protect your medicare ask social security. for 47 years joe biden supported every wretched betrayal of the american worker. how about fracking? there will be no fracking, there will be no fracking, there will be no fracking. this went on for a year.
10:52 am
then the primaries ended, he goes to pennsylvania where they frack. he said i never said there would be no fracking. no, this guy, sonny, this guy is crazy. he's either crazy or he's the worst liar. i actually think there's a third category: i think he doesn't remember. no, i think he doesn't remember what he said three weeks ago. no, he says for one year there'll be no fracking. then he goes to pennsylvania, and then he argues with it. i never said that. i said, i'll put it up. and we put it up. i think my people put it up about 20 minutes before the debate ended. but the greatest part of the debate was the end, right? that end was so beautiful. [applause] he's going to wean himself off oil. i said, texas, are you listening? pennsylvania, ohio, are you listening? no, no, it's a fraud. the whole deal with him is a fraud. he was a cheerleader for nafta, worst trade deal in history. now you have great usmca. and china's enter into the world trade organization, which made
10:53 am
china into a powerful force, obliterating your industries and lawing waste to your towns -- laying waste to your cities, your towns, your states. i ended the nafta nightmare and replaced it with that brand new, beautiful usmca, mexico, canada. urn my leadership we achieved the most secure border nor u.s. history, our southern border, and we're finishing the wall. 400 miles plus already built. [cheers and applause] think of that. 400 miles. do you know what 400 miles is? that's a lot. we'll be finished very shortly, and it's exactly what they wanted. i said to the border patrol, give me your best, just give -- i figured it would be nice concrete plank boom, boom, boom, right? precast. that was my business. i was really good at that business. so i saw a concrete plank, boom. and it turned out they don't want that. they want steel and concrete, and they want vision and all sorts of things.
10:54 am
but in the end, they were right. we're doing it, we might as well do it right. more expensive, but we might as well do it right. so we gave them a wall that is no penetrable. [applause] and it's got hook-ups to every form of computer known to man, right? remember when they said the wall, the wall is a wall, it's obsolete. i said, no, or walls are not obsolete. two things, right? walls and wheels will never be offense -- obsolete. a chip will be obsolete in 12 seconds after they develop it. the laptop from hell, you know, his laptop -- [cheers and applause] with call it the laptop from hell. joe biden has vowed to open borders. he wants to open your borders. doesn't want to have borders. you don't have a country if you don't have borders. you don't have a country. mass amnesty, sanctuary cities and nationwide catch and release programs. catch 'em, murderers, rapists,
10:55 am
release them into our country, and they never come back. he was wrong. he said they come back for a trial. they don't come back. they never come back. he has even pledged free health care for illegal aliens putting you in jeopardy because the country doesn't have the money. what happens is you have millions and millions of people pour into our country once you do that. he wants free education, free health care. if joe and kamala -- she's another one. she's the most liberal, she makes bernie sanders look like a conservative. if joe and kamala are elected, it will trigger a tsunami of illegal immigration from every corner of the world. tens of millions of people flood into our cup. you're not going -- into our country. you're not going to be too happy in north carolina. he often times wouldn't say north carolina. you're not going to be too happy in, let's see, where are we? [laughter] you're not going to be too happy in florida. no, no, no, we're in north
10:56 am
carolina, joe. oh, oh, i'm sorry. in north carolina. i'm. and i always say once you do that, forget the speech, just walk off because the speech is over. you could be the great winston churchill, great speaker, great orator, but if you make that mistake, i don't care how well you speak, you're in trouble, right? she said yes, right? he's done it many, many time, and he keeps getting the presidency mixed up with the senate. i am a proud democrat running for the u.s. senate, thank you very much. [laughter] now, the first time you can say, okay, but that's a bad -- but then he did it a second and i think a third i heard the other day. there's something going on up there. you know, we're playing with our country. we're playing with the greatest country in the world. we're playing with a country that has potential the likes of which nobody even understands the potential of this country. we cannot play games. we can be nice and say, oh,
10:57 am
isn't that nice? there are some people that, frankly, are going to vote for him for that reason. i won't say the reason, but they're going to vote for him. they feel badly. they feel sorry for him. i'm sorry. you can't do that. we are playing in the big leagues. whether it's putin or kim jong un, kim young unfrom north korea. remember -- kim jong un. remember we were going to be in a war with them three and a half years ago. what happened? president xi of china, do you see him standing looking over the troops? one thing i can tell you they are 100%, and they will be for a long time, and when they're not, they'll be taken out so fast your head will spin. there's no games, and we can't play games either. we invested $2.5 trillion in the u.s. military finish. [cheers and applause] and maybe almost as important,
10:58 am
defense spending in north carolina as you know very well, you're all sitting there very happy, very rich, it soared. a lot of stuff built right here. made in the usa, all of it. made in the usa. a lot made in north carolina. [applause] i will always stand with the great men and women who serve our nation in uniform. we have a tremendous group except, unfortunately, a lot of times they'll get these ballots, and they're military ballots, and it saws trump. -- says trump. trump, trump, trump. and they find them in garbage cans, right? i just voted, i voted in florida. [applause] if i tell you, i went there and voted. there is no way you get away with anything. sir, please, could you i see your identification? here's my passport, is that good enough in barely, sir, barely. okay, sir. you can sutt down, sur. could we give you a couple of -- can you believe this? they were so good. i said you can't get away. there's no, there's nothing you can get, the people that i just went through, it was like a
10:59 am
movie, it was perfect. it was so professional. and then you see send in ballots, thousands, millions of ballots are being sent, send them in. this is a horrible thing. and to be honest with you, it's the only way we can lose because i see the crowds. joe has 14, 15 people show up for a rally. this is a rally for some friends of mine and look at the number of people. [cheers and applause] this isn't a rally, actually, this was a little get together that we wanted to do for our congressmen because they've been fighting so hard for that special group of people here and there. [applause] but we can't play games. this is our country. and you should have voter id. everybody should have voter id. right? [applause] they don't want voter id. you know why the democrats don't want voter id? only one reason. bad purposes. there's only one reason you don't want it, because you're going to cheat.
11:00 am
they have voter id on almost anything. you know, to get into the democratic national convention -- we did get higher ratings than them, by the way, i hate to tell you. they put out a thing, but it turned out to be very wrong. to get into the democrat national convention, you had a card, and it had id on it, and it had your picture, isn't that nice? but to vote you go ahead and do whatever you want. to get boo their national convention -- into their national convention, they have an id card, and yet they don't want it for voting. just think about that. the last administration failed our veterans. i reformed the v.a., passed v.a. choice and v.a. accountability and veterans approval. the v.a. is now at a 91%, the highest ever, right? [cheers and applause] i did more in 47 months than sleepy joe did in 47 years. [cheers and applause] a vote for republicans is a vote for safe communities,
