questioning top tech ceo's. jillian turner has more on the big tech hearing. the chair's reelection in a moment and reaction from martha maccallum. first steve leading the news this hour at the president's rally in western arizona. good afternoon. >> good afternoon. bull head, arizona. waiting for the president to land from las vegas. 4 or 5,000 people here. you come early to these rallies to set up the gear. a lot of these people were out front in the dark 5 a.m. along that high way waiting to get if here. there is a real sense of enthusiasm here in one of the most conservative states, at least in the past. here's president trump earlier today predicting a big win on election day. >> our voters are going to vote
12:02 pm
early, but they are really going to vote on tuesday. they want to wait until tuesday. that's what the tradition has been. at least the tradition with me. it happened last time too. i am calling it a great red wave. i think you will see something that will be amazing. some will vote a little bit earlier. but they want to go to the polling booth and vote. >> arizona has been a safe state for republicans all the way back to 1996. but things are changing. that is the reason this is president trump's seventh visit to arizona this year. it's a battleground state. he won it by 3% last year but the population continues to change. a lot more diverse and younger and a quarter of registered voters are latino. >> bill: thank you, steve. we are waiting for air force 1 to arrive.
12:03 pm
>> who the hell elected you and put you in charge of what the media are allowed to report and what the american people are allowed to hear? why do you persist in behaving as a democratic super pac? >> we are not doing that. i opened this hearing with calls for more transparency. >> bill: jack dorsey taking a heated question from senator ted cruz along with the ceos of facebook and google. republicans accusing tech giants of stifling free speech from conservatives during election. jillian reports from washington. >> there is not a lot that the senate republicans and democrats agree on but one thing everybody on the senate commerce committee
12:04 pm
believeses that big tech is playing god. they decide whose posts go up or down all during elections. listen to this republican. >> there is real mistrust among the american people about whether you are being fair or transparent. this extend to concerns about the kinds of amplifications and suppressions your platforms make on election day. >> twitter ceo jack dorsey said he kind of gets where the concern is coming from. >> i acknowledge and completely agree with the concerns that it feels like a black box. anything we can do to bring transparency including publishing our policies and answering questions. >> facebook ceo mark zuckerberg punched back against senators and said facebook evolved to the
12:05 pm
point it's central to u.s. elections. without facebook elections could not go on. >> we estimate we helped measure 4.4 million people register to vote. and 100,000 people will have tear to be poll walkers. >> the heart of the social media power is a little known provision called section 230. legislation at the core of the social media platforms. it defines what they are allowed to do and what their users are allowed to do and whose fault it is when things go pear shape. the big take away is they don't want to be responsible for the content posted by users around the world. but, at the same time they want to keep the power in house to take down or block those posts when they believe they violate the platform's rules. we call that wanting to have your cake and eat it too.
12:06 pm
>> bill: thank you, jillian. republican roger out of mississippi ran the commerce committee hearing today. what answers did you get today? >> well, we lacked answers. we cited example after example of anti-conservative bias. and even a number of examples where twitter puts up posts from the ayatollah, from the chinese communist party making outlandish claims. ayatollah advocated jihad against israel. communist china said the u.s. military caused the covid-19 crisis instead of the other way around. yet, twitter lets that stay up and after several senators brought these examples up. our three witnesses didn't have much of an answer to that.
12:07 pm
>> bill: the story that kicked this off was the blocking of the "new york post" sharing that story on hunter biden? >> absolutely. what mr. dorsey the ceo of twitter said, that was a mistake. we were wrong to do that. if the "new york post" will go through a couple of hoops they can retweet that and post it. here's one thing that was telling to me. twitter and facebook said they had no information or nor basis to claim this hunter biden was the result of russian disinformation. that was an answer to a question by senator ron johnson. it debunks what we are hearing.
12:08 pm
>> bill: i thought what dorsey said if the "new york post" deletes a particular tweet, they will reopen the account. but isn't that the tweet that contains the story about hunter biden in the first place? >> senator? >> i think they are standing on ceremony. i think they will let the story out. the main thing is they admit this is not a matter of russian disinformation. i hope the mainstream media will look at that testimony and be more forthcoming like the fox news channel has been and let the american people hear the story. hear about the computer and the tweets and the testimony that your channel on last night. >> bill: the question is censorship. we will see where it goes.

12:10 pm
pieces of the interview that tucker did with tony bobulinksi. it answers the question raised by several news organizations including the "wall street journal" saying there is no link to joe biden. no corporate mention of him in the papers related to these businesses. but that's the reason that would be. he needed to maintain his plausible deniability. that email that says 10 held by h for the big guy. these are element of the story that need to be nailed down. it goes back to what you talked about with the senator. how can you pursue this story if it's cut off at the knees by twitter and facebook blocking people from reading it? what tony bobulinksi testified to last night raises a lot of questions. jim biden had long-time businesses overseas and in iraq
12:11 pm
while his brother was vice-president. there are legitimate questions here that need to be answered. there has been an effort to prevent that from happening. >> bill: my sense is two things. you won't get an answer before the election. i thought bobulinksi was a businessman who had been scorned. you could tell that based on his answers. he worked on a big deal for 6 months and hunter biden cut him off. that was apparent in his presentation last night. >> yes, one of the questions is why would he speak out at this point? it became clear in ron johnson's support in september there was a $5 million pavement that the chinese were supposed to put into this entity they formed and you hear tony bobulinksi say he got wind of the fact that the $5 million went somewhere else and
12:12 pm
not into the business he believed they were building together. that ticked him off. that's one reason he is speaking out. >> bill: it doesn't make the story any less believable: >> martha: no. it explains the motivation for why someone in their confidence would decide that confidence had been broken and he owed them nothing. they turned on him and floated the russian disinformation thing at him which fell apart. >> bill: see you at 7 o'clock tonight and see what tucker has in store at 8 o'clock. air force one is on the tarmac in arizona. arizona a critical state. a new snapshot about how the race is playing out not just in arizona. but back east in georgia which is a battleground this year.

my guess is trump will carry georgia by 6 or 7 and the polls are just wrong. the turnout on the republican side will be bigger than people expect. i think senator purdue will win out right and the other senate seat will go into a runoff which we will win in january. my bias is simple. most of these polls are just plain wrong. i trust some. the rest of the polls are just junk. the "washington post" and nbc poll showed trump behind 17 points in wisconsin. i would bet $1,000 to a favorite charity with whoever did that poll they are off by at least 15 points.
