pandemic. at before election day, about 100 million americans had already cast their votes and we are axing stomach watching the action unfold across america. jacqui heinrich's with the joe biden team, mike hoven in wisconsin and joh john roberts t the white house. we will show you how we get and we've been what the trump team believes their best path is to getting a second term in 270 votes. we begin the day and here's where the trump team thinks they are doing well. texas and ohio. and it two more biggies, florida and iowa. we've been reaching out back into the trump campaign and the biden team throughout the day to see where they would pick up the

remaining electoral votes here. leave pennsylvania out of this equation entirely. if you click in arizona around nine or 10:00 east coast time tonight, you are at 2:58 p.m. but 12 site. michigan, if you don't get michigan, do you go here in wisconsin? if so, you're still shy at 268. at 212 is your starting mark, and they feel good about minnesota, they could flip wisconsin and michigan, and the big prizes pennsylvania. then, you look at this map and you think about where you go. is it new hampshire or out here in the american west or nevada, both of those scenarios would do the trick for 270 electoral

votes. peter doocy had very interesting information last hour and he was talking about what biden teams think they can afford to lose. florida, pennsylvania, ohio and texas. a bit later this hour, you put that formula into the bank and see how that turns out. bryan llenas with a read on the ground in wilkes-barre. south of scranton. >> they tell us that turnout is great to hear. republican party and the state tells us that they believe the turnout is huge. the lieutenant governor who is a democrat as it could be record-breaking. turnout, turnout, that's the name of the game in the keystone state. particularly for both campaigns because both voters in the state have waited to vote until today in person, especially republicans. president trump will need a higher voter turnout to offset the higher voting turnout for

mail-in ballots in the state. workers are opening envelopes and scanning more than 350,000 mail-in ballots and it will be 24/7 work. more than 2.5 million mail-in ballots have been returned in the commonwealth. there is a big question right now bill about how many of these mail-in ballots will eventually count. some may not be in their proper secrecy ballots or signed correctly and could be invalidated. there are some 500,000 mail-in ballots that have yet to be returned as of this morning and a real question as well as to whether or not how many of those will count if they are not returned on time. >> bill: good reporting and p.a. let's move to wisconsin right now, another battleground state and that's where we find senior correspondent mike tobin who is in milwaukee. mike? >> two things wisconsin has seen this time around is lots of attention from the candidates and record-setting voter

participation. let me step out of the shot and show you what's going on at central county here in downtown the walkie. you have 400 volunteers poring over 162,000 absentee and early ballots. statewide, 2.1 million ballots were requested in 1.9 million were returned. the catch is they could start counting until this morning so this will take a while. into particular counties there was a problem with printing the ballots which means that 13,500 of them will need to be reworked by hand. it shouldn't impact the accuracy but it does mean this will take a while. don't expect results before 3:00 a.m. >> bill: thank you mike. mike tobin and milwaukee. jacqui heinrich has the latest with joe biden's campaign in wilmington, delaware. good afternoon. >> on that day that biden could be elected president he is soaking in a hometown tour with many moments. his campaign has been messing with the pandemic. after visiting his late son's a grave he is flew to scranton

right now for a couple more stops. the campaign says they feel very good about the data coming in, multiple counts of 270 and they seem to be letting joe biden and enjoy this day. statement thank you jacqui heinrich and delaware. let's get to the white house on the north lawn where we find john roberts. >> good afternoon to you. the president went out and visited his virginia campaign headquarters earlier today were the president said he's feeling good about the last three days and those 14 or 15 events that he did in so many different battleground states. we talked about that being such an important thing and certainly president trump has that intensity. last night in grand rapids message again, thousands of people out in 45-degree weather. and there he is is is coming up to the stage, grand rapids is where he'd finished up his 2016 campaign and where he credits pulling out a michigan win over

hillary clinton. now while over 100 million people have a cast their votes there are still millions of people who have not. the president trying to keep up the voter intensity and get those people out to the polls with key states and extending the deadline for mail-in ballots to be counted. it's unclear if we will know who wins tonight. the president's aides are preparing several speeches for him to give at a white house event later on this evening. when, lose or just saying that we are still waiting to see what the results will be. the president saying earlier today he is not focused on any of that. >> president trump: i'm not thinking about concession speech or acceptance speech yet. hopefully i will only be doing one of those too. you know, winning is easy, losing is never easy, not for me it's not. but i think we have -- when you see rallies, the likes of which in the history of this country and maybe the history of the world no one has ever seen before. there's a tremendous love going on in this country and really a

tremendous unity. >> bill: a tremendous unity of the president says. he will be watching the returns either from the residence, they will have a war room set up at the eisenhower executive office building and an event going on in the east room that the president will come down to later on tonight. we do know it's likely going to be a late night. in terms of how they are feeling around here everyone i talked to believes the president will pull this one out. they are unsure about pennsylvania because of the extended deadline but one person i talked to thinks the president will flip nevada and minnesota so we will see throughout the night how things go. >> bill: thank you john roberts from the north la lawn. i told you what peter doocy reported last hour. he saying that the biden folks can afford to lose florida, pennsylvania, ohio and texas.

so where would that leave the red team? and where to go on the map? earlier on the week they said they felt good about iowa, georgia and north carolina. well that's 267. you see what we are building? we are trying to figure out it, the president holds everything he did from 2016. he won arizona but that would be to 67. he held michigan and wisconsin and that would be considered in 2020 terms, click on arizona come up that would be about where he was three years ago. can he do this again this year, is it possible? democrats don't think so. joe biden really believes that this point that he has the best path to 270, or at least the easiest path. a deep hour of news and analysis of my head former governor, including the governor ron desantis, a trump ally. we will talk to them about what's happening in florida today. also officials and one key states say they don't expect a winner there tonight.

and things are going very smooth and turning out to be very robust. >> that was my next question about turnout. with the mail-in voting, are the lines as long as expected today? >> of course it's anecdotal because -- but i mean yes, the lines are longer than what you would expect to be normal but it's also tempered with the level of enthusiasm and commitment to getting the job done and then getting the votes. >> bill: why did the philly mayor say it's going to take days until you figure out the count in philadelphia? there are 600,000 votes cast in that state alone in 2016. >> philadelphia invested a million dollars to make sure they have the appropriate level of infrastructure to create a timely return for these ballots, and i have heard nothing. i'm speaking directly to the

commissioners themselves and that would indicate that anything is -- everything is going very smoothly. in terms of when everything is going to be finished i can't specifically say. anecdotally across pennsylvania, like york county where i grew up a republican county, maybe four hours ago they had all the ballots open and ready to count. they will be counting them at 8:00 tonight, not sure why they would wait but that's their call. there isn't any county that i heard of this having any kind of issues in terms of getting -- >> bill: i have a couple more questions. why do state lawmakers make it a law that prevents processing the ballots prior to election day? not counting them but just doing -- sorting through millions of mail-in ballots, why is that the case? in georgia, north carolina and florida, that's not how they do it here. >> that's a great question and i have an honest answer. the republican party, and all

these ballots are ready to be processed, but they refused to give us any of additional time. >> bill: we will see how that goes whether or not that has an effect. when do you believe you will have an answer in pennsylvania? >> i wouldn't want to speculate that kind of based on what i'm seeing it when i'm hearing across pennsylvania, i would expect it might be sooner rather than later in terms of the information that we were able to produce. there was outstanding legal talent potentially regarding ballots that were postmarked by election day but have not yet been counted and those have been

>> bill: election day in america rolls on. about 4 million advanced votes to cast their in georgia. how do you watch tonight? one of the ways seek to do it is based on poll closing. 7:00 east coast time, they also have a law where they can process these ballots prior to today and then throughout the day they are counting these right now. some for trump and some for biden. around the 7:00 hour it will start to fill in in georgia and we will see how things break down there. north carolina closes at 7:30 p.m. but we are hearing about an hour ago that some precincts were delayed and opening come about for them. they could be significant, they could be minor but we will watch

that. 4.5 million advanced votes and by law you can start processing was prior to th the today. so north carolina should have before the o'clock hour some results we can give to you. also in florida some of the states close at 8:00. look at the advanced turnout in the state of florida, 9 million votes. and they can process them starting weeks ago so we will have some numbers early on from florida also. let's bring in tim murtaugh, 2020 senior advisor. very soon the map behind me will fill in and tell us what you are hearing so far in places like florida and north carolina and pennsylvania? >> well i will start with florida since your data. florida looks really good for us and it's just like all the other states where biden ran up a little bit of a lead at leading up until the end of the early voting. but he did not have enough. the president's election day turnout today has already run

past joe biden and now republicans are outpacing democrats by about 100,000. >> bill: are you predicting in florida? >> absolutely. statement what else. >> you mention pennsylvania, i would note that the biden campaign had a press call earlier today and begin to prepare people for the scenario where they would have to try to win without florida and without pennsylvania. we feel really good about both of those states, florida i think the president will win quite handily. pennsylvania is another place where joe biden did not put up big enough lead in the early voting. at to overcome and withstand the onslaught of trump votes today on election day. we think that the president is going to go into tonight with a lead. we see really high turnout in the blue-collar areas in northeastern pennsylvania, which is allegedly joe biden's home turf. the president's supporters are coming out in huge numbers all across the rural parts of the

state. this anti-fracking stance that joe biden has had has really hurt him in pennsylvania and i would point out one other thing. we modeled all of the things that we looked at, 2016 exit polls in 2016 turnout which meant for us 8% of the black vote for president trump. public polling, as bad as we think it is, forecasts that the president will get 13%. >> bill: we had them at 15 at the end of last week. >> so everything would like that was based on a percent of the black vote and if we approach doubling that then it will be real problems for joe biden not just in the states but everywhere. >> bill: in florida and georgia. >> i think both tell a similar story. again joe biden didn't hit his marks in the counties that president trump one in 2016. turnout is either approaching or exceeding 2016 levels already come up very high the areas

where president trump mills. in rowan county, higher than normal election day turnout in north carolina. in the urban areas places where joe biden should be able to be drawing from support, there just isn't that enthusiasm. that's what we've been talking about for over a year now. people are not excited about joe biden. the president is drawing a record number of support from black voters and exit polls in 2016 company got about 28% of the hispanic vote. we think he might touch 40% of the hispanic vote. if those things come true and if what we believe is happening, actually happens, it will be a resounding victory for president trump and you are seeing this red wave today all across the country. >> bill: tim, i got to go but you did not clear up georgia. >> same thing. georgia feels really good to come up the atlanta folding county area, the rural parts of the state are really great for the president.

electronically. organizers say they expected the dinner time hour to pick back up. this is to precincts and one neck in macomb county, the county that the president one in 2016 just outside of the democrat stronghold of detroit. the president had one of his final rallies here on sunday and he will be relying on this conservative leaning county in michigan. we have not seen any problems at this location so far about michigan's attorney general tweeted this morning "getting reports of multiple robocalls that are going to flinch at residence. obviously this is false and an effort to suppress the vote. no longer lies, don't believe the lies. please have your voice heard. the michigan attorney general says voting is smooth sailing here in michigan in the state of michigan says more than 3 million early votes were cast which is an all-time record. in addition to the in person voting going on, those 3 million

continued to feel confident now. part of that is what you hear heard from tim murtaugh earlier about what they are seeing in terms of turnout and vote out the mic voting. it also comes from the confidence they see from those crowds. people were dismissive of the size of crowds in that the president was able to generate in 2016 and they are basically warning don't do that again this year. >> bill: i heard you last night saying you are confident but not arrogant. what does that mean? >> absolutely. as you know elections are often one on the margin and if you look back at 2016, it was less than 79,000 votes. i also want to say thank you to all the volunteers come up the poll workers, the companies who gave their workers off. can you imagine in the middle of a pandemic we are conducting an election if people are out there voting as if their lives depended on it. >> bill: howie, this is a unique election to say the lea

least. i would venture that elections are not going back to the old days of 2016 after 2020. mail-in voting will become more and more prominent in so many states. oregon has been doing it for 20 years. how do you gauge how the candidates are trying to anticipate calling whether or not they have one? perhaps tonight or beyond? >> while premature claims of victory until we know for sure is risky business on either si side. i've never seen the country so got wrenchingly anxious. we have a tinderbox situation where each side is accusing the other of trying to steal the election. each sides of the wind by the other would devastate the country. we have a whole bunch of cities including here in washington and a pandemic that once again is surging. so i think all of this raises the stakes and puts enormous pressure on the media to stay

ago, president trump winning by just 1%. we could see an early indication since they started processing votes more than two years ago. good afternoon to you and thank you for your time. he and person voting has been open for nine hours in florida. what are you hearing on the ground? >> bill we went into this election with democrat ballots, outnumbering republican ballots by 110,000. that margin has been really erased and the republican ballots are up about 150,000 over the democrat ballots. we aren't winning some of these places on election day two, three and one. for example pinellas county is a swing county and republican ballots are more than 2-1 over democrat ballots. palm beach county, republican ballots are 15,000 more in person ballot than democrat ballots on that's been unheard of. we knew the democrats had

is, trump will win the election day voters decisively in every swing state. the democrats have been pushed to do the mail voting and they've done it and i personally think that was probably a mistake because of bill, you are going to convert 100% of those male voters, even if you drop off three or 4%. i think it was probably a mistake but i think that republicans are going in. there are some lines in some places but nothing that people have been upset about and they are voting, and they really want to have their votes heard. republicans want to see that ballot go into the machine. we had a good vote by by mail program in florida's history throughout the last two decades and this year we are still doing some but i think a lot of them just want to be there in person. >> bill: just a few seconds left, are you that confident, too? >> i think he will, bill. unless we see something dramatic
