gop members in wayne county michigan rescinding their decision to certify the result of the 2020 election claiming they were bullied into approval, griff jenkins as the breaking development. >> reporter: things are very interesting in michigan. 146,000 votes, in wayne county the largest county the two gop canvas board members deadlocked the certification vote. they are unhappy about the canvassing and procedures. under extreme pressure they capitulated, reversed their votes for. now they are recanting that voting affidavits, monica palmer said comments made accusations of racism and threatened me and members of my family. the other member william harmon says i voted not to certify and still believe the vote should not be certified until these questions are addressed as i remain opposed to certification of the wayne county results.

what does this mean? it is a little unclear. wayne county's results and those of michigan's other 82 counties go to the secretary of state, to present them to the state canvas board scheduled to meet monday november 20 third. that board has two members, two republicans in two democrats. in georgia we will soon know the result of a historic hand recount, deadline was midday, we expect the announcement at noon today but we have learned uncounted votes were uncovered. floyd county, 2600 ballots, 800 votes for donald trump. in fayette county 2700 ballots, 449 votes for trump number 293 uncounted votes, getting the president as of 148 votes, all of that shy of the overall margin deficit the georgia's director of election operations said if the shoe were on the

been consistent bad news this vaccine news is getting better and better. are you as happy about all these developments as the majority of the medical community? >> i'm very excited about this news, especially the news out of pfizer yesterday, a german vaccine company plus pfizer. they give the vaccine to 22,000 people and gave it to 22,000 got a placebo, 44,000 people. we didn't know how many of those people, how many of them would actually get covid-19. that is the goal. if enough people get covid-19, we can then see if the majority of them are in the placebo group or the vaccine group. out of 170 people who got covid-19, 170, 162 were in the placebo group. that's where the number 95%

comes from and that is the measles vaccine which is one of the most powerful vaccines in the history of vaccine so we are really excited about this. jillian: how long would it take to get the fda emergency use authorization and when might that happen? >> great question. they are compiling safety data collected 8000 people, 19,000 people together with the safety data. my sources inside health and human services tell me with a couple of weeks the pfizer vaccine will have an emergency use authorization, not before thanksgiving but right afterwords you will see the approval. >> after you get the shot i can't imagine you would be automatically immune. how long does it take to kick in? >> it takes about two weeks for most vaccines to develop immunity. in this case you got the first shot and the second shot three weeks later. the first shot showed a lot of

effect on the pfizer trial but i would say a very conservative estimate would be after a month, after you get the second shot you are immune. another study came out that showed those who were getting over covid-19 might be immune for well over a year and the vaccine gives you even more immunity than that so this vaccine may last a couple years. we don't know for sure yet but it is looking like a longer-term immunity than we thought. jillian: we just can't know the details right now. we need more time. a minute ago we had the distribution information from pfizer, 50 million doses by the end with you, 1.3 billion in 2021. my question is how important is it that the younger population get vaccinated, once everyone, the general population is able to get vaccinated? there are a symptomatic cases out there, younger people might

not have as many symptoms or the severity as older people so is it crucial that they get it? >> the younger people are our silent spreaders and it is crucial to stop this pandemic that we get vaccinated but the purpose of a vaccination is twofold. one, protect somebody most at risk, 2, protect the heard. first thing we will do, give it to those most at risk healthcare workers that are getting it on the front lines and then elderly people starting with nursing homes and people in high risk situations for spreading it internally. once those groups have it, the obese and the elderly we have to make it a priority to give it to young people to stop the spread. they may not get sick are spreading it without knowing it. jillian: we are not done with you, you will stick around for the next hour because you will be back answering some of your questions at home on the covid-19 vaccine but if you have any send them to us on social

into the election process. joining me to react kristin tate, good morning. >> thank you for having me. >> a lot going on in wayne county, the detroit area so you have yesterday's board of canvases consisting of two republican sentence two democrats who voted to certify these election results, now the republicans on this border say we are going to take that back, we were. into this and misled so what is going on. >> they were bullied and bullying and smears that were leveled at these board members is despicable. all of the country it seems democrats are furious at efforts to make sure this is a fair election, we want to make sure all legal votes count that illegal votes should not be counted and i don't think there's anything controversial about that statement and these two board members had initially agreed to certify on the understanding that there would be a not over inconsistencies and absentee ballots but when

they started to believe that audit would not happen they reversed her decision. >> these two republican canvassers said they were bullied into this, they were called racist for saying they didn't want to confirm these election results. take a listen to what that sounded like. >> you are a disgrace. >> it's as though the fifteenth amendment was never passed. >> what you are doing right now is adding to systemic racism. >> the reason these republican canvassers wanted to audit these election results, said they would certify the results only there was a not at that took place is because the number didn't match, the number of people who voted didn't match the number of ballots received. how does that happen? >> they are saying the number of absentee ballots counted doesn't match up with the absentee

ballots that were stated in the sworn affidavits. this is just something that needs to be investigated. it might not change the result and democrats should be in favor of this too if they believe their candidate fairly won i don't see why they wouldn't want these allegations of misconduct looked into. this shouldn't be partisan and the fact that it is is worrisome. >> there is a trend where lawmakers can't even follow their own covid-19 regulations, gavin do some apologizing for going to a party, nancy pelosi getting her hair done, laurie lightfoot out of a crowd of biden supporters after the elections so they say we should follow those rules but they can't seem to follow them themselves.
