chef amy joins us, describe the scene yesterday. >> it took me by surprise the emotions i had, a little bit somber in terms of seeing people show up, placing place in the name of somebody who lost their job or restaurants you know and love the closed. it was really touching, something for everybody to think about. carley: trying to get congress to pass restaurant act which would create $120 billion in funds for independent restaurants, bars, cafés, payroll for employees making less than 100,$000 funding mortgage, rent, ppe cleaning materials and food supplies and all the things folks need to keep restaurant safe and going. a lot of restaurant owners say we will shut down if we get government stimulus but can't have it both ways because they are out of work, out of money, their restaurant shuts down.

is that where you are? >> this has been an unprecedented time. we need stimulus funds now, with the least amount of strain possible. we need grants to help us recoup and restaurants want nothing more than to employ people safely and right now we need more than a ppp fixed. we need a legitimate grant that doesn't have to go through 20 accountants and high-priced consultants to make it work. todd: such an amazing point is what boggles my mind about this response to the pandemic, i know a lot of people who received a stimulus check that quite frankly didn't need it. it was unnecessary for them for

their survival yet we shutdown all of our restaurants and bars and did not have targeted and focused relief to those individuals. when you see what is happening throughout your industry, throughout the country how sad and frustrated does it make you? >> makes me sad. everyone knows restaurants are the hub of entrepreneurship and small business and they employ hundreds of millions of people whether it is a kid trying to put themselves through school or others devoted the industry and love hospitality. to mandate we have to follow certain protocols and not give us a targeted way to do that is irresponsible. >> have you heard from any lawmakers the talked about the restaurant act or possibly

for a check from the government to make it by. many people have no income outside of that. it's about time people started standing up and making their leaders recognize that you work for us. carley: yeah, conservatives have faced a lot of criticism over doing things like protesting, even wearing masks. i think that nine out of 10 of those folks, it's not about the annoyance of wearing a of course that. it's about the concern that government is telling them to do something. sort of like what's next in the fact of the matter remains we are in the middle of a pandemic. and hospitalizations are on the rise. so, what would be a better solution in your opinion? >> well, a better solution is also to trust the american people with their health and their safety. we know, for a fact, those at most at risk are the ones that have compromised immune systems, the elderly. those are the ones we need to make sure we are protecting and emphasizing. other americans that want to live their lives, we cannot disconnect living and livelihood. we also can't ignore the other

variables at play here. the mental and physical health. the american people are struggling from far more than just coronavirus and it's very frustrating from many of us when government officials simply gloss over that like it doesn't matter it. certainly does. todd: yeah, tomi, the governor of your former home state, governor gavin newsom has a solution. he says we should spend $08 million on educational health campaign including 1,000 billboards. take a listen. >> i wanted to connect more to the cause of education. over $80 million in kind and direct supports for new public heducation campaign. we are trying to build more smash mouth forgive the phrase in terms of you who we get your attention. todd: it being christmas i mentioned home alone in first question and second question i'm going to mention the second greatest movie of all time christmas vacation. will try to do the lights. they don't work. the mother-in-law says what a tremendous waste of resources this is. i think that applies here.
