kind of tell us what it might translate to in this investigation potentially in a court of law? >> right. and the first thing lawyers will tell you is that the best defense in the world can get tripped up by the documents, by the evidence and in this case by the emails. what i think this latest reporting suggests that it undermines the incoming president's argument that he didn't involve himself in his son's business dealings, what we have seen e-mails from biden asking that his father joe biden be given a key to office. of course, he had no connection, why on earth would he need a key to hunter biden's office. this e-mail certainly raises serious questions. gillian: it raises serious questions from a common sense perspective, absolutely.
10:38 am
i guess, though, what i want to get from you is, so this idea that joe biden may have shared office space with this chinese national who ran this company who was paying hunter biden. in a court of law, does that hold up? is the implication enough there to sort of prove that president-elect joe biden was involved in this business deal? >> i don't think standing alone is enough to prove it in court of law. the other thing that we have to be asking what ultimately the potential legal violation here be on behalf of hunter biden. is it a tax issue? i know that originally they were looking at money laundry, maybe not so anymore. what was the legal violation that the federal government has been investigating all at this time and number 2, does the people violation extend beyond hunter biden either the president-elect or to other people. that's the big question.

gillian: right. last question for you, tom, what's the significance of the fact that there are 4 separate ongoing investigations into hunter biden? what does that tell you, if anything? tom: what it tells me this ain't going away any time soon. the incoming biden administration will inherit a huge headache to say the least because president elect biden will be on top of a pyramid that investigators that are literally investigating his son, obviously it raises questions and the biden administration has to ensure that the investigators and prosecutors carry out their jobs without any sort of political interference from the top ranks. gillian: tom dupree, thank you very much for taking time on this sunday. appreciate it. leland: this week thousands of trump supporters came out to protest the election in dc and overnight many of them got attacked, what police are saying about the suspects next.
