>> reporter: half a foot of snow in some parts of brooklyn. they expect maybe a foot in new york city. the snow is supposed to stop sometime this morning but a couple things we are thinking about, the roads treacherous. we talked about a few accidents in pennsylvania, 60,000 people without power. other issues, restaurants in new york city, indoor dining been, we are thinking of them. they had to clear the roads, so many outdoor structures for these restaurants, so people can eat outside. they had to clear that a way to allow the plows to clear the road in new york city. also thinking of covid-19, connecticut shutting down testing, most of their testing sites today. new york city is reopening testing today at noon, it was shutdown yesterday at 2:00 pm. obviously it is affecting the

coast. new snowfall totals into new york seems to be our jackpot with close to three feet of snow already so some areas outperforming some of the forecasts. around the new york city area that cut off, rain, freezing rain, sleet, snowing right now in this dry area north of newark but certainly seeing snow in central park, laguardia, jfk and around the area that as brian mentioned more snow it is one storm that we got all season in the new york city area, temperatures will remain cold over the next few days and by this afternoon the storm will have exited the area. some of these regions, 3 feet of snow, they will have a white christmas in binghamton, new york, no joke. jillian: i worked in good old binghamton, new york.

agreement it's not a done keel yet. deal yet but very close. jillian: lawmakers are make headway on a covid-19 relief bill. and tens of millions of americans say they can't afford for congress to leave for christmas without reaching one. joining us now thing professor at king college in mountain brian brenberg. brian, great to have you as always. take a look at the potential deal. close to $900 billion with $600 stimulus yeneka checks no. money for state or local aid. that's what the democrats wanted. no money for protections that's what the republicans wanted. $300 a week for jobless benefits and $330 billion for business and vaccine. $900 billion that's a lot of money. but does this bill go far enough to help those who need it the most? >> it is a lot of money, todd. but the real issue is the timing here. if you look at those components you just laid out, there is really nothing new now compared to what we were talking about two and a half months ago.

so when i hear senator schumer talking about racing dependence the clock, i'm thinking you haven't even been running for the past two month. this could have been done months as. the reason that matters is in that time period you have got tens of thousands of businesses across that country who have had to shut their doors because they didn't have any funding to get true theist lockdowns. i'm glad we are seeing something now. >> i'm glad to see it's somewhat of a slimmed down bill. we are now talking about 2 trillio -- nottalking about ar $2 trillion. money for businesses and money for employed and money for families and individuals. that can help us bridge through the first quarter of next year, but this is late. and i don't think the senate should be talking about racing against the clock. they simple arely haven't been running. and that's one of the problems and one of the reasons why people are so frustrated with this process. jillian: you talk about a bridge there it's interesting because republicans and democrats obviously viewing this differently. the republicans are viewing this as a bridge to help the businesses and workers get

through the next few months. democrats are referring to this as a counsel payment for stimulus. and a lot of this hinges on what happened in georgia on january 5th. can you explain? >> absolutely. if you look at how democrats and republicans are framing this. republicans are looking at this stimulus as the last stimulus. the one that gets us through the winter. gets us to the point are with the vaccine, the covid vaccine has rolled out and people can get fully back into the economy. if you look at what democrats are saying all the way down from joe biden to chuck schumer to nancy pelosi it, they are talking about this as a down payment. this isn't the last stimulus. this is the beginning of something bigger next year. they're looking at they talked about a bigger stimulus bill in 2021. which means this isn't simply about relief or building a bridge. this is about enacting the progressive economic agenda. and that, i think, should be a cause for concern for many americans. especially businesses because we know that that agenda includes not only more spending, but higher taxes and more

regulation. which could really effect 2021. we are interest talking about 2021. this is not something the end of the game for democrats. the beginning of the game for them. >> we have had all the restaurants and openers on. those he can toes suffering so much right now this money goes to elm. this meantime as we await a moderna vaccine approval hopefully that's coming any time soon and possible stimulus. these two things combining, markets pretty happy with this. a green screen beaten neath you right there showing the futures. how excited should would he be? specifically how should the markets feel going into 2021 with this con bow of news. >> markets love the vaccine news. it is miraculous news. it's amazing and investors should be happy about that. they like the fact that the fed has said interest rates are going to stay low for a very long time. yesterday the fed made news saying interest rate would probably stay low through 2023. a couple years of running room

there. the fed also under projections said economic growth should be stronger in 2021 and unemployment lower than originally projecting. that's all food news. that's a reason for stocks to rise but, of course, it does all depend, again, on what's happening in the senate in january in georgia. that election is going to be cobs sequential. of iconsequential. if we don't get divided market which the markets are thinking. it will whole new regime tax increases and regular flag tore increases. markets are assuming the vaccine rolls out well and strong growth in 2021 and roughly the same policy environment we have now. if any of that changes, i think you will see stocks jitter just a politic because that means there are some uncertainty that they are not baking in right now. jillian: brian brenberg thank you, appreciate it. >> good to see you. todd: reck room this florida family decked out their home and neighborhood with "star wars"
