foreseeable future, the show that is the sworn enemy of lying, pomposity, smugness, and groupthink. have the best night and merry christmas to you, jason chaffetz in for sean next. >> jason: i'm a big kirk cameron fan, merry christmas to you and your family. welcome to this special edition of hannity, i'm jason chaffetz in tonight for sean. breaking tonight, president trump followed through on his threat to veto the $740 billion national defense authorization act citing glaring omissions by congress to address abuse and big tech and a scolding the legislature for crafting a bill that contradicts the trump administration's america first foreign policy. we'll have exclusive reaction with national security advisor ambassador robert o'brien just ahead. but first, president trump tonight is showing great reluctance to sign congresses
6:01 pm
massive omnibus spending package and pandemic aid to build demanding that congress provide direct aid of $2,000 who have suffered under no fault of their own and insisting that unnecessary and wasteful spending be stripped from the ongoing appropriations bill that is larded up with pork. it's an appropriations bill that nobody would have voted for if they had to vote for it by itself. remember, this is the president keeping his word. back in 2018, he said he would never sign another bill like this again saying "it's not right and it's very bad for our country." take a look. >> there are a lot of things that we shouldn't have had in this bill but we were in a sense forced if we want to build our military, we were forced to have. there are some things that we should have in the bill. but i say to congress, i will never sign another bill like this again, i'm not going to do
6:02 pm
it again. nobody read it, it's only hours old, some people don't even know -- $1.3 trillion, it's the second largest ever. >> jason: president trump was elected to be a disruptive force. he was never a go along to get along politician. a time and time again, president trump has made it clear that he hears the call from american people to stand up to the political class and he hears calls to buck the status quo and to stand up to special interests. his only priority has been that of the american people and get this, the president's call is even being welcomed by his most unhinged critics like speicher nancy pelosi and congresswoman ocasio-cortez who say they are ready to boost the amount of direct payments, something the president insisted on this past summer. here's the core question, what they also agree to cut out the
6:03 pm
pork and all the reckless spending in the legislation was make they probably won't. unfortunately, wasteful spending and misplaced priorities are nothing new inside the democrats ever-growing far left wishlist. for example, republican senator rand paul today released his annual airing of the grievances documenting case after case of waste, fraud, and abuse inside the swamp. $15 million to buy a high speed boats for sri lanka, $130 million to promote democracy in nepal. 15 million to promote it in pakistan, 33 billion to promote democracy in venezuela that seems to be going so well so f far. to be clear, new funding by the end of the year is imperative to prevent a government shutdown but congress has a choice to
6:04 pm
make, will they deliver needed aid to americans struggling to the pandemic, or will they retreat to the old ways of washington where pork packs projects, foreign nations, and the special interests take priority over the forgotten men and women of the united states of america. jody me now for reaction, fox news contributor's katie pavlich, charlie hurt, along with former white house chief of staff right reince pri. the president has been very clear along the way, everyone has heard them talk about he wants more payments to the people who are suffering through no fault of their own, the amount he is targeted is $2,000. he said he doesn't want any pork in the spending bill, he said he wants to go after these high-tech companies and not let them take advantage of section 230 and he also said he wants the ability to get us out of these endless wars but it doesn't seem like they were listening to him.
6:05 pm
>> he also said he didn't want to just arbitrarily rename a number of our military installations which is why he vetoed the national defense act today, that's a separate issue than the covid relief bill and i say that" because it's not a relief bill at all, it's smooshed together with a huge spending bill. americans are in an unprecedented situation, washington is acting just like it always does and even in a crisis can't even change its behavior to prioritize programs that affect americans and maybe cut some of them that aren't as useful right now, the fact that the university got aid when they been charging full tuition for students who aren't even in the classroom is absurd and nancy pelosi is using this to put republicans in a tough position by lying and saying president trump and republicans never explained how the president wanted in terms of
6:06 pm
direct checks and that's just not true. president trump called for a stand-alone bill without any extra spending, no pork attached. in october, he called for a stand-alone bill on direct checks and the bottom line is this, not only calling for stimulus for the american people that he is calling for the opening of the economy which is really the only thing it's going to get us out of this. rand paul has been spot on this week when he says congress continues to enable bad behavior of democrats in blue states who continue to keep their economy shut down despite the scientific data showing that it's safe to be open. >> there are a lot of people to get mad at congress for the timing of this, they have less than seven hours to read through this bill, more than 5500 pages. it's nancy pelosi alone that controls the gavel that makes that decision. i recall that nancy pelosi has
6:07 pm
not met with president trump in more than a year but what was the seminal event that pushed her to do that to? it was the fact that she decided she no longer wanted to meet with the president because the president was going to put that out on television and that she didn't want the american people to see how those negotiations were going. this is how disaster liberalism works, they take a crisis, they appoint all this other stuff with it and you get this where we are today. i've got to tell you back in 2018, donald trump said he wasn't going to do this again. >> it's also important to remember that nancy pelosi and a lot of these people have been doing this for years. joe biden has been at this for nearly 50 years, they've been at this game forever. donald trump is new to this. he comes on the private sector, from the free market and he's trying to do things differently. donald trump is at his finest when he's listening to his own instincts, making these threats
6:08 pm
and the solutions are never tidy, they are never simple, we like everything to be tidy and simple but it's not. when he vetoes a bill like this it sends a message and its him putting his foot down. donald trump is at his very best when he is the skunk at the garden party and that's what he's doing here. even people who don't particularly like him and don't like his style, they agree with him very broadly on these larger issues. katie is right, people are being held hostage by congress and people like nancy pelosi who were playing these games, using these very important vehicles like the military, like covid relief, using these vehicles in order to get through all of their crazy, but as interest stuff that they could never get through in a straight
6:09 pm
up-and-down boat out in broad daylight. >> that is disaster liberalism by its purest definition and i agree with katie and charlie the stuff would've never passed otherwise. part of what i'm fascinated about is the process by which the president goes through this. you had one of the most unique seats and all of washington, d.c., as a former chief of staff to the president, explain to us how that works, how does the president go through this process and make an ultimate decision? >> merry christmas to you all and everyone watching. first of all, the first lesson is if the president says he's going to veto something and he's alluding to that, he's going to do it. i don't know why anyone is surprised by this, i know we are not here but there's a lot of people who are surprised, he said he was going to do it.
6:10 pm
his gut instincts are where he goes, he illustrates it and he does it. what the president does and he agrees with this and i'm respectfully explaining this, he puts opposite people around him that are very smart on particular issues and they argue it out. if he's talking about nafta -- the president -- think about this. the president has wilbur ross, steven mnuchin, bob lighthizer, steve bannon, reince priebus, you keep going down the list. he says okay, everyone, what do you want to do about nafta? then you have gary cohn and some of the smartest people on these topics and their whole lives are based on these topics and they fight. the president referees this argument and he learns from the best people. here is the lesson for everyone, he is the same person he was back in january 2017 and he
6:11 pm
ultimately drives the debate, he is the referee and the decision-maker. when he sends his negotiators to the house and the senate and says negotiate this bill and they are talking to them the whole way through, they are telling him what's going on but then they come back and the bill comes in and 90% of what they talk about is in there. the problem for the president is 10% of this stuff for 15% or 20% is complete garbage. he hadn't from the very beginning and he isn't now. unlike other people as charlie alluded to a second ago, he's not what most people are like in d.c., he's not can eat the 20% in that bill that most people would eat because he doesn't agree with that, that is why so
6:12 pm
many people appreciated his leadership. >> this could have been avoided, the president was pushing for this, everybody from mitch mcconnell right on down the line has been saying why aren't you dealing with that? there is one reason and one reason alone nancy pelosi wouldn't bring it up, the democrats wouldn't go higher, it was because there was an election and i didn't want people to get a check while donald trump was the president's. even she said it out loud. katie pavlich, charlie hurt, and reince priebus, thank you all so much -- merry christmas and have a wonderful holiday. all eyes continue to be on the great state of georgia at the critical runoffs that will determine the fate of the upper chamber and tonight far left democrat raphael warnock finds himself embroiled in another controversy after police footage after a domestic dispute in march of 2020, earlier this year that was first obtained by
6:13 pm
tucker carlson tonight showed his ex-wife holding back tears while telling police that he is a "great actor," have a look. >> the way that he acts and today he crossed the line. that is what is going on here and he's a great actor, he is phenomenal at putting on a really good show. >> jason: i feel for her. meanwhile the georgia secretary of state is doing in the republican push to end no excuse absentee voting. amid mounting concerns about election integrity. geordie may now for reaction is former white house chief of staff, karl rove. i got to tell you, i'm not missing being in congress right now, i'm not. but i am focused on georgia because it's bad enough having nancy pelosi with the gavel,
6:14 pm
i've lived through that but to give one to chuck schumer too, i can't even imagine. what is the latest on what is going on in georgia? >> lots of things going on in georgia, early voting is underway. republicans, won early voting in georgia narrowly, it starts out badly and it's getting better as it goes on, republicans were the majority of the vote as they were the day before, it's going to be close. every bit of indication is that this rate is tight, the republicans have a modest lead, they began with an 88,000 vote margin for david perdue in november, 44,000 combined vote for republicans in the 21 person jungle primary for the seat that kelly loeffler holds. it's going to be close and everyone is throwing everything at and the democrats have a get out the vote machine that is hard to beat but will not
6:15 pm
ultimately beat it but nobody should underestimate what stacey abrams is capable of doing. >> jason: the libertarians are really interesting in this equation because they're something like 100,000 that voted in the general election, where did they go, where do they sway, do they show up and vote or are they disgusted with the candidates? >> my sense is some of them will come out to vote, i don't think it will be voting for the socialist, we do have in jon ossoff and raphael warnock, very far left figures who are not free enterprise, not limited government, not low taxes. my sense is there will be some libertarians to come out and vote. the libertarian vote in the senate race essentially where the people who kept purdue from winning 50% plus of the vote and avoiding a runoff, he was within 10,000 votes of doing that, 88,000 votes ahead of jon ossoff
6:16 pm
and 100,000 votes for the libertarian. he wants to run for governor in two years, he's not going to be endorsing anybody but a lot of his supporters have been endorsing david purdue and supporting david purdue because he's clearly the more acceptable if your limited government kind of person, he's clearly the more acceptable choice. >> jason: is there anybody that is undecided at this point or is it merely a game about who shows up and who's able to get out the vote? >> there are people who are undecided from two angles. one or two or 3% who are truly undecided about who they should vote for, should they vote for purdue and kelly loeffler? there is also a larger group of people, hard to quantify who is this important enough for them to get out the vote? the party who gets more of its people out as a result of making a convincing argument that it matters is going to be the group that wins.
6:17 pm
this is a state that has on a good day 52-48 republican, it is no longer the georgia we took for granted in the 1990s for the first decade in the 20th century, it's a rapidly growing state and very competitive and republicans have got to make a very strong argument that it matters who controls the united states senate. >> jason: raphael warnock, we saw that video of his wife from a few months ago saying this guy is an actor, saying he's a fraud so much so that she had to call the police. is that going to factor into the minds of georgians, are they hearing that or is it wiped out by the hundreds of millions of dollars of ads that are being put out right now? >> she is very compelling when you see the whole footage, it's very compelling and my suspicion is a lot of people are going to see it. it is close to the election, we are 13 days away and at the end of the campaign a lot of people say i don't trust any of those politicians. i think it's very compelling
6:18 pm
footage. the thing about warnock is it you have a 21 person primary, nobody knew much about him and since then, people have seen lots of footage of him giving sermons at his church. he gave the sermons, it's his words come you don't have to have somebody interpret it for you, you can listen to him say things that are way over the top. the police are gangsters and thugs come you can't serve the military and serve god, socialism is getting a bad name, fidel castro has a complex legacy, the early church shared everything in common, it's a pretty remarkable left wing view of what life ought to be like. he's also very facile, here's a guy who sang socialism gets a bad name and he says i'm in favor of free enterprise. fidel castro has a complex legacy and i refuse to condemn him but when he gets hit on it,

i believe there ought to be freedom in cuba. he's very facile and doesn't hold an opinion but he is much a left-winger. >> jason: i know i'm just a guest host but i'm kind of disappointed i didn't get the white board but maybe i can graduate that at some point. >> we are both from utah but i'm suspicious about your utah credentials, rapid fired quickly. >> jason: look at the time, we got to go. what is wrong with the molar mur probe, i can answer that question for a bout of half an hour but from your seat what was wrong with the probe? >> first and foremost i would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the president for granting this kindness and mercy toward myself on the cusp of christmas given that it did come at a time right before christmas, it was extra special to me and my wife and we are very grateful and something i'll never forget. regarding the bob mueller investigation, this simply was the weaponization of the obama administration intel agencies targeting americans, directly with a rival presidential campaign to essentially spy on them and find out what this presidential campaign was up to come at us at various traps them. we saw it with the perjury trap

with michael flynn, general michael flynn, vice president biden was essentially saying we can't get him on, let's go after him with the logan act. no one has been prosecuted in over 200 years, this is essentially an effort to halt the smooth transition of power and to ensure that if donald trump was elected which he was to handcuff them to not allow them to govern this country properly. he was resilient with a strong team around him, he saw through the nonsense and he came out of this stronger than ever. we still need answers to find out exactly how this whole thing started. >> jason: when you reflect back, was it a set up? and what did they do to put you in a compromising position? you will not convicted, you didn't plead to anything that had to do with russia collusion.

>> the russia collusion was a fantasy and in fact, i go a step further than calling it a hoax, i call it premeditated counterintelligence set up by the obama administration because that's exactly what seems to have happened here. we can't forget that attorney general barr and john durham have traveled the globe looking into various clues and interviewing various foreign actors that were directly involved in not only targeting myself but others. these countries include the u.k., australia, italy, ukraine, this was not simply an fbi operation going rogue with people like peter strzok and lisa page, that's exactly why john durham has recently been appointed special counsel just weeks before joe biden might or might not ascend to the presidency. it makes it even more monumental and something i believe will directly impact joe biden's

communications that were released just last week that thankfully senator ron johnson and senator grassley out of iowa were able to finally break free. for some reason, this will come as no surprise to you the fbi and doj were able to hide those from the united states congress and our investigation for a very long time. specifically what is and there is some very disgusting stuff as it relates to what our supposed to g men were doing, the dirty cops as i call them to access george papadopoulos who i had on there. it's sickening and frightening and unbelievable this could happen in the united states of america. when you go back to the origins of this, we still don't know yet to set up a george papadopoulos way back in early 2016. the guy was an innocent young man volunteering on a campaign who then was targeted by some group, someone where they had a bunch of people running into him over in europe.
6:31 pm
he's right about that, we just don't know who did it and you continue to go into those text messages and even though his name was kept from congress for a very long time, we didn't learn about this investigation into him until 2017, somehow reporters knew about it. it was it just the dirty cops set him up, they try to get warrants on him, they listen to his phone calls, we don't know how any of this happened but it should never have into another american again and i hope the american people actually go and read those so they know what this investigation has been going on for four years is all about. >> jason: i want to transition a little bit and talk about the hundred biden situation but i also want to note -- i hope that people get to see justice at some point. you have the inspector general, thousand pages of report recommending action on more than a dozen people and people i think are fed up with the idea

"the new york post" is reporting this could even cost new york a house seat. also tonight, new york city mayor bill de blasio is playing politics with the city's budget plan saying it hinges on the results of the georgia runoff races. new york isn't the only big blue state that's struggling as california is seeing a mass exodus of large tech companies to the more tax friendly conservative run states like florida, texas, utah, and idaho. joining us now with reaction's media columnist for the hill and fox news contributor joe concha along with salem radio talk show

host larry elder. thanks for joining us on this holiday week. larry, i want to start with you, we have to say a big congratulations to california and new york because people are fleeing there faster -- if they could find a u-haul, i bet u-haul's are in huge demand to get out of those states. >> what was it that maggie thatcher said to? she talked about socialism but she might well has said the welfare state, sooner or later you run out of other peoples money. i'm in california, i stayed with the highest top marginal tax rate in the country, 13.3%. one half of 1% of californians pay that tax, this is a state that is dominated by democrats, there isn't a single republican elected statewide and the democrats don't just have majorities in both chambers of the legislature, they have super majorities. even if the left-wing governor were to veto a bill, they have enough to override that bill. that is what is going on here,

>> that's an excellent point, it's the same bill de blasio who talked about and bragged about redistribution of wealth. the problem is as larry just pointed out, wealth is leaving town at an alarming rate and if you don't have the rich to tax company don't have not even the rich but just people to tax in general because they are fleeing the state, then the revenues go away and you go bankrupt, why would you want to stay in new york at this point? 1500 shootings in new york city this year, that's double of 2019 and this is during a pandemic when people are basically locked down. murders up 40%, new york bears the highest tax burden of any state in the country and what use to keep you around and i lived in new york city, i get it completely was the culture and the culinary and its character. it's lost its character, the culinary you see thousands of restaurants closing or on the
