up. how did you do it there were high winds and rapes. and i can tell you my kids were concerned about you and your reindeer flying in that weather. >> santa has special authority to avoid the weather. and nothing stops santa. santa always delivers to good chirp while they are sloping. will. jason: i'm highly impressed. i'm glad you got the cookies that my granddaughter left out for you. i can see you ate most of it. other eat snacks. >> very food cookies. if. jason: good. i appreciate it. i hate to ask you this, but as long as i don't get many opportunities to talk to santa, any chance have you an extra stretch armstrong that was my favorite toy as a kid if you have an extra one. >> you heard what i said, i delivered to all the children on the good list. chronic nic on the good list, too.

that's another point that you make there, jason. >> two parts to that and it is important that he qualify on both. jason: all right. i may not qualify. i understand. thanks, santa. griff: that's a good point. i loved stretch armstrong. good call. journey last night on this show. we were tracking you yesterday talking with the commander general van herct at norad. one of the first stops you made was the international space station. how did you pull that off? >> now i would be telling some of santa's magical secrets. they were surprised. they thought that santa couldn't get there. santa always shows upping. nicole: well, santa, i can tell you that my children were watching you all night long and at one point i was saying that i think you were didding to come soon and my son is like, no, no,

no. he is still in south america but he will be here at some point. i love that you allow our kids to follow you around the world. i told him though that we don't know precisely where you are. it's still the element of surprise. otherwise, everyone would have pictures and videos of you have coming down the chimney. it's not quite precise, right? there is still some magic to it you don't want us to know exactly when you are coming, right? >> the only person who knows exactly where santa is at any moment is mrs. claus. and, of course mrs. claus keeps a very close eye on santa. will will. jason: that was actually my he question, san be that, what does mrs. claus do while you are doing all this work? do you sneak her along sometimes? does she scoot over and join you on some of this? >> well, no, actually mrs. claus has completed her work when santa has returned home safely.

but, up until that point, santa is not a business than. but, mrs. claus, she makes sure that everything that santa is committed to doing gets done. she also managing the elves and the reindeer. santa could not function without mrs. claus. many. griff: that's great. nicole: no truer statement. it. griff: i just have one more question for you, santa. that is my god daughter lily groce. shared with me last night a plan devised. a three-point plan it will designed to catch you? did she catch you? have you ever been caught by any of the children the device plans to catch you in the act? >> it has never happened and it never will because one of the secrets is that rudolph, the red-nosed rai reindeer, his noss not only a bee cob but it is

you can see the joy and love in her heart. she loves being a mother and loves children. i think this is an incredible job she does everyier. i truly enjoy watching it. that little girl was adorable. and i'm sure had she known rudolph or the first lady, either would be extremely exciting to talk to on the phone. griff griff what do you think are, jason, about these calls. we have a moment, jason, i think, to set aside politics, set aside the partisanship, which you are familiar with here in washington. it may never have been as strong as it is now. but, really, melania, first lady melania, breaking through it this year with the norad santa tracking and the calls to the kids. jason: those are just real moments. they are fun moments, they are good things that the first family gets to do. little kids just telling it is like it is wondering who she is

talking to. that's great. recalling. griff: we promised you traditions. share ours at home. mine which you may have seen in years past the pajama-wearing. this is it last year in the lobby of the muse hotel. i was filling in last year anchor and in the lobby we took photos. we have santas on our pajamas. this year, kathleen, always the stylist said of the pajama tradition wearing a red one. i have been prewarned this year because i don't know what this year's pajamas are that there may have been a challenge in the sizing department and that i may be wearing some that don't properly fit me. go figure. one other tradition is the dog sweater rascal. who just turned 6. this year is a nome. therwill won't fit mewell.

nicole? nicole: i hope you will send pictures of your ill-fitting pajamas that would make entertainment for any. i do remember your family joined us on fox square for christmas and it was beautiful. i have three boys as everyone knows. my youngest insists that he and i stay up late every christmas eve to watch for santa. and we do. we spy. but we have to be super quiet because santa knows if you are sleeping or awake. and then when we hear the eligible, jingljinglebells. there we will find santa eating the cookies and egg to nothing we left out. interesting we did our same routine. he got scared. all of a sudden he is more aware he said oh, no, santa is actually going to know that we are awake. we have to run we have to go pretend to be sleeping. he we had to lay down real quick and pretend to be sleeping.

when the eligible stopped. then we proceeded out to the christmas tree and lo and behold presents under the tree and stockings were filled and the little boy had the feelings of joy. what about you, jason, what are some of your traditions? jays jafs great, great memories. it always starts with the chaffetz family going on down to the mall. santa seems to have an apartment or condo at the mall. he's there and available. we would love to be able to sit on santas lap and do all that of course we have our christmas list and submit the list to santa. and and then i haves fondest memories. one of my best memories, this was me 3 years old i got this red fire truck. you can hook that hose to that tire truck and it actually shoots water. i had it long after i could even fit in the darn thing. i have some great memories putting out cookies for santa, making sure we go out and leave some carrots and putting reindeer dust so they know where to land in the backyard, that

faced. but, also, some of the most incredible discoveries and some of the progress that has been made in under a year. these truly is a christmas miracle that we are seeing right now in not only the vaccines but the treatments and our frontline workers who continue to go out and how we are continuing to work together to do everything we can to slow the spread of this pandemic and to save as many lives as possible. these truly are christmas,000,000. it's a wonderful time to reflect on all that we have accomplished. prosecute. jason: yeah. i'm very grateful for operation warp speed. it didn't happen by stent. i'm glad president trump put that in motion early, early on in the process. i look at these three companies and the brilliant minds that put together these vaccines and president trump getting rid of all the bureaucracy get it to the finish line and it have it before the end of the year. just a quick note all those people have got to be tired and exhausted. those frontline workers in the hospital are there working this

resources. jason: there is a lot of things that law enforcement has to deal with you about to be knocking on doors like that, i guess it's -- there is a consequence abuse that law enforcement has taken, particularly in new york. there is something like 2,700 plus people in law enforcement that have left the new york police department this year. what's going on there and how do we get this thing turned around? we love our law enforcement, i can see why so many of them want to depart and retire. >> yeah, absolutely. you know, the laws that have been imposed on us in new york state and also down in new york city has really tightened and made it almost impossible to do police work anymore. the scrutiny is just unbelievable. and, listen, the vast, vast majority of men and women who wear that uniform all departments, new york state

police, new york city police. all the local police departments threat the state do an admirable job. to have every little action that you do to be scrutinized i think a lot of people are just packing up and saying either retire or find another profession. jason: the way the mayor treat is you absolutely amazing. do you have a christmas message for law enforcement officers this christmas morning? >> yeah, throughout the country, the men and women in law enforcement. new york state police and every law enforcement agency in the country, they put on their europe form and go to work selflessly and do a great, great job. it's been a tough year in 2020. the pandemic, the social unrest. these men and women still answer the call. they go out there, protect every citizen, every american citizen and they are there for you and i will tell you, merry christmas to them. i hope you get home safely. and you are doing a heck of a

>> i love it. griff: i love it. well, let's toss it over now to adam klotz to get an insight on the weather. and atom here in washington, it is storming. >>ing yeah, guys. good morning, everybody. merry christmas. big storms on the eastern half of the country, if you are behind those, you are doing with some really cold air here on this christmas morning. take a look at numbers. even folks in the mouth south don't typically see this kind of weather. down in the 20. a lot of spots into single digits. negative three degrees in minneapolis. the storm you were talking about that is still on the modify sweeping across the eastern half of the country. still just rain. the back side though, that cold air is there. that's where we are seeing snowfall and have been seeing snowfall over the last several hours taking you back into christmas eve. so there still are some winter storm watches and warnings from cleveland running up into portions of western new york and back down into the appalachians. that's going to continue at

and so happy to hang out with you guys this morning. just a wonderful delicious christmas brunch. i mean, would he have egg casserole. we can have wonderful hash browns but today i'm going to share with you my family's favorite pancake recipe cannoli pancakes. have you ever had cannoli pancakes i didn't have griff no. jason: yes. don't they usual usually come with chocolate chips? >> right. took it to another level by adding a nolle cream. use your favorite pancake recipe. i love to add a little bit extra baking powder to my favorite recipe because it makes them lighter and fluffier. and you set that aside. and now we are going to make the cannoli cream. you get cheesenned a kind of whip it just so it becomes pliable. massive home cheese is italian cream cheese. powder sugar. now, you can do all of this the day before, by the way.

not the pancakes but the cream and store it so you are not today you are not in the kitchen as long. so we mix that up. and we're going to admin any semi-sweet chocolate chips. it's important to use the semi-sweet because you want to look for that semibitterness. not milk chocolate. we mix that up. enough to we are going to add a touch of pure vanilla extract. and that's it. it's very simple. some versions of this have it -- and some just [inaudible] i just love to fix and sometimes i will add a touch of just regular cream cheese for extra body. so now we get our pancakes and we take a spoon full of the mixture and we put it like if you are making a taco. you could stack this or you could fold it over. chef calvo, that looks fantastic. you have me hungry for that and

this piece interesting, because they're quite right, yes, operation warp speed and government funding really helped with the rapid manufacturing and distribution of the vaccine but truly, the research and development was pushed by the private sector, these private researchers and scientists that have worked on decades worth of research to produce this vaccine. what's your take on it? >> well this is very much like the first automobile or the first television. we really can't attribute them to any one person because they were the culmination of many innovations that were finally assembled together. likewise this vaccine was created in two days using computational biology. naming they didn't have a copy of covid at the time. they had a model and they used computational techniques to arrive at that. well how are they able to do that? that was the buildup of two generations of computer science, artificial intelligence, and, by the way, hard work by scientists

like these in immunology that made this possible, and they were all driven forward and supported by a market system that were rewarded gradual innovation, those step-by-step processes and these scientists, who i commend for their effort, and their dedication, but they sit on the shoulders of a pyramid of several pyramids of other scientists in multiple disciplined that were supported and nurtured by private capital ism. you just didn't get this , you don't get this sort of thing, you know, rolling out of china very easily. >> nicole: well peter, you're absolutely right and as you recall in the beginning china didn't actually give samples for u.s. scientists who work from, they only release the genetic sequence which is why the mrna vaccines were able to be started so early on because they were able to use that sequence knowing they have that technology, it truly is incredible and as we mentioned earlier there is a recent poll showing 75% of americans actually support such capitalism and i think our entire country can continue to be grateful for

like it would a piece of fish or like french toast just in the pan and let it cook. it renders the fat out and here is a cooked one. the cooked one now, it has goat cheese, pecans, orange sections, cranberries, and walnuts and chestnuts and chestnuts are harder to cook. they will blow up a little bit and i did it this morning and they are fantastic. olive oil, salt and pepper and a little parmesan, so i've always heard of chestnuts but never seen them eating so they are perfect. duck is cooking, right? now the beauty of the duck is the fat from the skin is so delicious, here is a cooked one, we make the vinegarette warm, like a spinache salad, lots of c hives, a little bit of mustard, and then some soy sauce , and orange.

now, the orange that i got the zester here and the juicer and a little bit of duck and then you add a little bit of vinegar so your salad dressing has olive oil, duck fat, and vinegar. i'm going to take this duck out and make the dressing and i've got cranberries and grapes, warm it up and you see this? it goes right over the salad. >> nicole: chef, i'm making a duck myself today, but i don't know. i don't know if it's going to live up to your expectations. that looks amazing. >> goose is traditional, but this is very tough and hard to manage so this is a duck breast, you can buy it skinless and bone less, and then you put that on and -- >> david burke, chef.

dan's been going through some tough things with his health, and haven't seen him on the air since before the election, but dan, you're looking good! merry christmas. give us an update on how you're feeling and what's going on in your life. >> thanks, jason good to see you all griff, nicole as well. yeah, thank you. i appreciate it. i've been working out and stick ing to my routine, you know , unfortunately i was diagnosed with cancer, hodgkin's lymphoma and i want to thank nicole and specifically and all the team at fox for helping me get through it so its been tough i'm tired. the chemo is rough. you got to get through it with a bit of a sense of humor, i joke and say i give chemo zero stars on amazon, i don't recommend it but two thumbs down on yelp, but it definitely works. i got my next and hopefully last treatment this coming tuesday, so, should be back to full force i'll be in for sean on monday night, jason something you're intimately familiar with, but thank you to all of the specifically to all of the viewers out there on fox. i get your e-mails.
