than anything. exquisitely-illustrated our ability to care for one another, lift each other up when times are their toughest, to push through the worst. people were willing to put their lives on the line, put their health at risk to provide us medical care. to make sure that we were fed, to deliver packages to our door, and they did it simply because it was their job. and if you listen to the shallow and sanctimonious media are telling how bad things are, i think the american people see how wonderful things are. they just have to get out of the septic tank of social media and just walk outside. you can stop any stranger on that street right now and say good evening and happy new year. and you will get a smile back in return. and i just think that speaks to the greatness of this country. >> indeed a great country. jessica, i always felt bad in

the middle of this pandemic because we all had our jobs and we had to carry on as usual because we were ruled essential. although, a lot of these businesses are essential as well. but speak to the mental health aspect of seeing other people suffer and trying to be that lending arm for them. >> yeah, you are absolutely right and living in new york city, all of the closures on the small business suffering around us as with a lot of the violence and the rioting as well as the people protesting that went on through the summer. it was a lot of action i would say in these big cities. and as someone that loves their city and loves everything they have to offer, this has been an excruciating year in terms of seeing especially those restaurants close in. to a mental health point, over a quarter of americans have said that they have some sort of depression related to covid-19. the loneliness epidemic, which is something that most predominantly affects our seniors is up to 60-70% of them

reporting that they are suffering from this. locking down nursing homes has obviously been a huge part of that. isolation from younger family. grandparents want to hug their grandkids. we all want to be together again. it has been a tough year whether you are employed or not. >> yeah, i still haven't gotten the opportunity to hug my grandmother because she is so afraid. we delivered her christmas meal outside of the door and she wanted more so we sent some more. [laughter] >> my kind of woman. [laughs] >> and i wanted to hug her so much. but i want to talk to you because you are a father and you have kiddos at home that really aren't prepared. probably like many other kids for this. what did you and your wife, rachel, who is a colleague of ours, do to prepare those kiddos to deal with this pandemic? >> welcome i think what's so important is you just have to talk to your kids. i think what he brought up is so

true, the humanity of america came out and we help each other. we picked he tol each other up t was a blessing. but there were a lot of bad things that happened as well. our country looked to china on how we handle the virus. if you look to china, trust them in regard to the data to say nou know what? all the information was wrong. the death of debate. what is so great about america is we debate and we argue. and when we do that, we get to a better solution. but we couldn't argue or debate about masks or shutdowns or school closures or even weak when it talk about hydrochloric or zinc, or d, or c, all of the things that could help fight covid. some people lost their jobs and were without work. and so, i think it's important to talk to our kids about the goodness that came from the pandemic, but also the real drawbacks and risks that come

from big government imposing huge restrictions on the american people. >> amen to that. lisa, i want to go to you, because we all want this to be over. but there's been a lot of reflection too. so, what did you learn from this year? what will you go into 2021 learning and what will you do differently? >> well, first of all i say peace out 2020. don't let the door hit you. i'm done with you, as i think most americans are and cannot wait for 2021. i just prayed that it brings so much more to everyone's lives across the country. i think one of the main things i have learned throughout covid's i'm sure you guys all can relate, especially living in places like new york city where i used to live. but there is the hustle and bustle. you are so busy going to work. you are going to see friends. you are going out. so you really don't have a lot of time to just be still and had that stillness to stop and

reflect what you want for your life o are you doing the right things? it's really having that time to think about your life and sort of figure out where your priority should be. and so for me, it has really caused a forest re-prioritization. thankful to have a job. thankful to have such a wonderful family and friends. thankful for the things that i have. i think those things have been a positive. i've grown a lot as a person because of it. i think a lot of us as americans, we have grown a lot as a country. i am praying that 2021 is better. i mean, it can't be worse, right? [laughter] >> it could be. >> real quick. >> i just want to admit something. i usually don't do this, but jessica brought this up about depression and mental health. i'm being treated for depression. i've been suffering from it and i am seeing someone, talking to a psychiatrist.

>> give me a break. we all have talked about this, but is she going to pass the bill with big covid relief. she refused to do that because she didn't want to give donald trump a win before the november election. but also, have they cut the pork in this, having sent $100 million to hiv aid workers in foreign lands or for museums? i mean, it was huge. they would've had more money to give to the american people. so, that she is crying right now about fighting for the little guy. and by the way, donald trump is out for three things. he said i want to get the $2,000 for stimulus checks. by the way, that's fighting the big guy and protecting the little guy. if the little guy doesn't have his vote in this electoral system, he has nothing. actually donald trump and mitch mcconnell are fighting for the little guy and she is refusing to join in the fight and help us out and give twodollar checks to the american people.

>> lawrence, what mitch mcconnell is talking about is the house bill, the way that it is written. checks would provide some benefit to a family of five making up to $350,000 a year. that is a lot of money. >> that is a lot of money but it's their money and i think mitch is playing a dangerous game. we talked about it in the show. you know, the president and mitch mcconnell are not on the same page. the president made it very clear that he wanted twodollars to go to the american people. now, i understand the arguments that people are making that these people have money in their pockets. and i'm normally for the government to cut spending and all that except for one people get to give their money back. we are in the middle of a pandemic and it has affected all of us, all of us. and the fact of the matter is this. we are in the middle of an election as well and if you don't think that they are not

going to be running ads and telling people that the republicans at large, i don't care if the other two senators and georgia say that they are going to vote for the legislation. it doesn't matter. it's not a local race anymore. it's a matter of where republicans are on the issue. and so mitch is normally a master negotiator. but he is playing chicken with the national race and i don't think he's being smart right now. >> jessica? >> i agree with lawrence's assessment. checks are overwhelmingly popular. chuck schumer side give us the up and down vote on the cash act and then i will talk about section 230 and whatever our voter conspiracy might have about the election. mitch mcconnell's back is against the wall now and he rightly pointed out that mitch mcconnell had no problem with

nontargeted tax cuts the rich. it's just now that he has this perspective on this. republicans spent just as much as democrats and they only say that they are not big spenders around election time. it's completely disingenuous and they should give americans the truth. >> what is also disingenuous is the fact that chuck schumer and the democrats -- are again holding up aid for americans, hurting financially strapped people for their own political benefit. what say you? >> well, hearing that from nancy pelosi. nancy pelosi just a week ago said that $600 was significant. and now she is saying it's not enough. now she is saying that we need more money. and look, the challenge here isn't, as you pointed out, i don't think a family making $350,000 needs that money. i think the people that needed are the the individuals who

actually suffered financial loss and are trying to figure out how to pay rent. they deserve more of that money as opposed to families making $350,000. the biggest problem with all of this is that all of these people who are setting the policy are completely unaffected by the impact of the policies that they are setting. you get the governor cuomo's of the world. he is still getting hi his chec. he's got his government-protected job. these individuals come all the people pushing for lockdowns that are making people suffer, that are forcing them to not be able to make an income, not being able to open the restaurant, these people are fine. it's that we are all in this together crowd. they are not impacted by it and that is why they don't know how to address this crisis because they are so disconnected from the pain and the suffering of so many americans right now. and that's going to be the biggest problem moving forward with trying to set public policies, because these people don't understand. they don't know. nancy pelosi is worth $200 million. these people don't know. >> yeah, we are all in this

those two rallies on monday night, which campaign is going to do the best job at those rallies to get the voters out on tuesday to help take care of the day? >> you know, i think just from being out there on the campaign trail for a year, the person that has the biggest draw is always president trump. love him or hate him, he has the ability to get people to show up and i think his rally is going to be extra important because there are some people that are in the state currently telling people don't go vote because of the president's legal challenges that he is still pursuing. so i think his mount of the most. joe biden is going to have a small crowd. remember, he wanted to do the social distancing. i will think that is going to matter that much. the big thing that is worrying republicans right now is the case of socialism. georgia voters are afraid of that. although the president wasn't able to win georgia, what we have seen on the ground in

blocking democrats from accomplishing what their goals are and that's what it's going to come down to. >> yeah, so lisa, we've heard republicans say for weeks now that it democrats win the two seats in georgia, they will have all of the house, senate, and the white house and it would be catastrophic and america will be on a march to socialism. is that an overreaction? >> no, because democrats would blow up the filibuster and they can move forward with these radical policies. he supports the green new deal. he supports medicare for all. he is endorsed by bernie sande bernie sanders. he said you cannot serve god and the military. this is a god who creates marxism. this is a guy who has been tied to fidel castro. so these two individuals are highly concerning. and then on top of all of it, joe biden is not a moderate. this is someone who picked kamala harris, the most liberal senator, to be his running mate. this is someone who will abandon

all of his moderate beliefs and embrace extremism. so yes, i am highly concerned about what a democrat would look like with this country. >> yeah, border integrity has been a big issue over the last year and the last race. republicans have hired 8,000 poll washers for the race on tuesday. will that have impact on the fairness and honesty of the selection? >> it should. one thing i will point out, i do think this comes down to policy over personality. senator david purdue during the actual election in november won more votes and a bigger vote share than president trump did in the state. so, if use if you stick to the f policies, then that's a winner for republicans. the fact that biden, harris want to get rid of a right-to-work state like georgia, which has been a right-to-work state since 1947.

governor to make this happen. average day businesses don't that have done have that ability. yes, they are trying to take it to court but they should never have to go through this. we have been told for months to believe the science. yes, we know, based on the governor's contact tracing, which he made us pay for as new york residents, it accounts for less than 2% of the contracting in those restaurants. so, i don't understand what he continues to have these restaurants close. again, rich and powerful people always play by different rules. >> what you think? >> i don't know why they wouldn't use the testing to keep the schools open. he is threatening to close the schools. i don't think anybody would be surprised if this man said it places the lotion in the basket. he killed thousands of our elderly in nursing homes and paid no price, blamed everybody including mother nature with

look at his priorities. bills games, leveraging a pandemic for personal gain and wrote a book during a time of crisis and all the while he killed off elderly by forcing nursing homes to take in the sick. he deprived people the ability to go to funerals of their loved ones, depriving people now have the ability to earn a living, to go attend church services. so, he is a terrible terrible human being and it really makes me mad that the media and those on the left, just come i continue to prop him up as some sort of hero when he is anything but. >> okay, obviously we can talk about whether he is a terrible human being. >> we will go back and forth on it. >> absolutely. i got some things to say. >> i thought lisa went also so far because of the taxes and the weather not because of covid. >> exactly. listen, you can play football. it's outside. go in and play football.

on this new year's eve, i want to give a shout out to three incredible small businesses run by some incredible artisans and just great people in general. cynthia. she makes these jewelries. i have always paid for them, by the way. the manhattan wine company here in new york. and also lc king manufacturing company. in january, they will start their 108th year sewing workwear in bristol, tennessee. and jack king, fourth generation, it was his nephew who was that kayaker on the show yesterday. >> look at this. all right. [laughter] >> i support them. all right, y'all got to see this hilarious moment when a girl gets pulled down a hill by her dog. she was planning on going sledding, but her dog, lola had other plans. she is a labrador retriever. she got excited and decided to take her on a wild ride with her
