before the spigot of government money would stop socialism for witch rich people. that's what speaker pelosi and senator sanders have sketched out. >> president expected to spend the weekend at the white house before heading south to georgia to rally voters ahead of that critical senate runoff. guys? jason: lucas, happy new year, thanks for that report. the media was chiming all along right up until the election that these things, the vaccine was impossible. there was no way they could do it. in fact, back in may on nbc they did it a fact check coronavirus vaccine could come this year trump says. expert say he needs a miracle to be right. at n. r in will september contradicting the cdc trump says covid-19 vaccine could be ready by the end of the year. over on cnbc october president trump says covid-19 vaccine will be coming by the end of the year despite contrary evidence. they were all wrong.

donald trump was right. operation warp speed worked. these private companies did it faster than government could ever do and reaping the rewards and benefits now. listen to what charlie hurt said because he thinks the president should get a lot of credit. >> for a year that began with him under impeachment over a very hotly partisan impeachment over things that, you know, that i would say were fantastical and made up and purely partisan. even as that was going on you had the pandemic lurking and the president, i think, can be credited for, you know, as bad as the economy has been this year, he avoided salute catastrophe and as he pointed out in that message, he paved the way to usher in these vaccines that everybody said, you know, would be impossible all of his political opponents who decided to take the pandemic and turn it into politics. that's the state of politics today, i guess. i thought it was a strong and

smart message for him to be giving today. griff: he should have been giving and harping on earlier. really the lesson taken away from this when you put a ceo, a person who has run a major billionaire private industry corporation who demands more of his employees of his production staff than government traditional politicians do of their staff in the slow process of government, that's what you get. and that is the lesson of operation warp speed and it's certainly a lesson that should extend well into the future when government tackles crises like we are dealing with. rachel: it's such a great point, griff. he was moving at business speed and not government speed. by the way, all those pundits who said that he couldn't get the vaccine out in time. i don't know if they even all believed it. i believe what they did prior to the election was anything they could do to tamp down the economy and knowing these vaccines would come out would have been a big boost to the

economy. a great hope for americans and for american businesses. i think they just wanted to inflict as much economic damage as they could prior to the november election in order to hurt donald trump. but, charlie hurt makes an will other excellent point this economy coming into the pandemic was so strong. it weathered this pandemic and all the devastating economic effects in a way that i think had we not had the strong economy, the strongest economy in u.s. history going that the pandemic, we might have seen a total collapse. and these vaccines, of course, were a big part of why we are seeing so much hope coming into 2021. and donald trump absolutely deserves to take a victory lap on that. jason: i was going to say, you know, not only did donald trump move us in the right direction, he did so back in january, thank goodness. i have got to tell you i'm really impressed what's going on in the private sector because it's oftentimes the neighbor helping neighbor and barstool

coronavirus guidelines. but, yet, she went on vacation, jason. jason: look at this. this is from her instagram post. it says spending the last day of 2020 by the poolside. we have the whole pool to ourselves. meanwhile, the same day she actually tweeted hearing of an educator revolution happening. tons of members are emailing their admin, i will be asserting my right to work in a safe remote environment on january 4th, 2021. i have signed the pledge, along with 8,000-plus union educators to continue to work remotely. but she is off on vacation sipping who knows what on the beach and she says i have got to tell you, if you are a parent and you got kids in school, i mean, doesn't that drive you crazy, rachel? >> absolutely. kids in chicago and the public school system, those parent of

those children ought to be just having their hair on fire. here she is in the caribbean. by the way, she is a special he ed he teacher. no one has been hurt more with these school shut jowps than children with special needs. so it's especially agreedges coming from special he ed teacher. i think it's absolutely insane. one of the great silver linings of this pandemic parent whether they thought about school choice or economic education liberty prior to the pandemic, it's on every parent's mind now. we need options. because right now we're not going by the science. 94 million chinese children are attending schools. millions of european children are attending schools safely. they are not super spreaders getting sick. same here. catholic schools. the ones that my children attend are proving every single day that schools can open safely. and when you see a teacher's

union member actually on the executive board who tweets shut down schools and i'm going to go on strike from a poolside in the caribbean, it just makes you want to scream and it's so unbe fair and i think patients will be outraged and maybe something will happen here. i didn't have griff look at that photo by the way. a little lesson for government employees and leaders. if you are going to engage in gross hypocrisy. don't take to the gram in giving the foot shot of paradise that you are in. nothing screams look at me more than the exposed foot poolside paradise photo. unbelievable. rachel: she took it down, griff. she took it down though. griff: we are going to turn now to some of your headlines for 2021 the new year in portland takes off where 2020 left off. police declaring a riot overnight after dangerous protests broke out downtown.

griff: reuters setting off fireworks and hurling explosive fire bombs at officers. police firing rubber bullets and tear gas to break up the crowds. no arrests have been reported yet. and to extreme weather we go. heavy snow strikes west texas causing whiteout conditions and massive gridlock. snow covering the region are forcing drivers to sit in traffic for hours. this photo showing the snow fall at big ben national park. some received up to two feet. in kansas city, missouri also hit by the winter storm causing dangerous driving conditions. be safe out there. ken keep police find no evidence of explosives after reports of a bomb threat involving an rv. patrol cars seen be blocking off intersections of the downtown lexington as bars were evacuated. the scene was cleared overnight.

win both races in georgia, that means his majority in the senate would have to be 100 percent. all the democrats would have to line up. he only needs to lose one or two and his tax cuts are going to cut much deeper than those people over $400,000, for example, raising the cap on social security. >> there was a lot of obfuscation and frankly not plighpolite to call the presidef the united states he is not president yet. let's just say it's a big fib. >> professor, let me ask you all with the trump tax cuts, biden also wants to raise the corporate tax rate. now, president trump brought it down below what china's is. and now biden says he is going to go above it. what impact will that have? >> it will have a very negative effect. most important is our corporate taxes are not low relative to other industrialized countries.

the countries in europe, for example. we compare very badly to ireland. now, let's suppose he raises it further? you know, we are just going to have drug companies move their manufacturing and their r and d to ireland. it's a lovely place to live. have you visited? no reason why research labs have to be in massachusetts or new york where they get taxed by governor cuomo and they have not so great school system. they can go to ireland. get great schools and do their r and d there. griff: maybe they can go to the u.k. >> it's a new year and a new era begins in the u.k. with brexit finalized. how does that factor in what what does that mean? >> will relocate every day but there is a potential to move a lot of your intellectual property oriented activities out of the country. because of what is happening with state taxes and what biden wants to do with federal taxes. griff: so, specifically with regards to the biden administration, the impact on

just our country in general, what does this new brexit deal mean for us? >> well, the brexit deal is an opportunity. britain really needs a trade deal with north america. beginning with the united states. then the canadians will fall into line. now it's isolated. the u.k. really made a point to punishing britain and boris was really handicapped by what theresa may did before him. she really gave up all of britain's negotiating chips early by reaching a financial settlement first. and so he was very handicapped. all the trump cards have been played. so my feeling is that we need to make a deal with britain recognizing how important a strategic partner it is. also the u.k. has just made a trade investment deal with china. they tell us they want a unified front but they don't -- no reason not to take britain's side in this thing and make a deal.

the most outrageous laws. here to break down some of them is writer for th "the washington examiner" tiana lowe. one of the rules that you say or one of the laws coming into effect here in the new year is the demilitarization of police uniforms in california. tell us what they want to do and why they are doing it and why it's a bad idea. >> so homicides are up 30% in los angeles. they are up 2% in san francisco, which is the second densest city in the country. they are up 37% in oakland. and naturally that means that california is focused on making sure no one is triggered by what the police uniforms look like right now. this is not something backed in any evidence in terms of sort of descalating situations with the police this is nothing to reduce the number of nonviolent felons in california prisons.

and so it's a great way for californians to virtue signal without actually doing anything for their drastic cost of the police force and their drastic crime problem. rachel: let's move to another law. we all know that extestify bipartisan in california are now going to be required to show diversity. you say that this is just, again, a lot of virtue signaling and shows some hypocrisy with regards to those corporations relationship with the chinese communist government. >> yeah. i mean, what is one of the biggest corporations incorporated in california? it's disney. and what is disney's priority right now? it is thanking the chinese communist party for allowing them to film n gin where there is active are genocide against uighur muslims going on. this is a common thread with a lot of the silicon valley

corporations that are in california. and so, they call it woke, right? because they have the requisite number of women on board. when, really, it's just making sure that you can diversify who are -- who is come politic in crimes against humanity. rachel: right. you are absolutely right. and disney is not the only company that has, you know, gotten in beds with the chinese communist government and still likes to claim this moral high ground in terms of their wokeness. so, tell me one thing. do you think that this is going to accelerate these kind of silly laws are going to accelerate the excuse that we are already seeing of companies out of california? >> >> well, dag something is easier than doing nothing. doing something is to oharass all the business owners who are creating jobs so that way then these multi-national conglomerates can feel good about themselves.

yesterday, jon ossoff taking a page from the playbook of joe biden. come on, man. very defensive about his media company's ties to a chinese company what's your reaction? >> this is a problem across the board. i think whether it's ossoff, swalwell, others that are being exposed, guys, this is the tip of the iceberg of chinese influence in our politics. you are -- you discussed earlier in media movie companies, wall street, manufacturing. certainly our universities. this is a coordinated, sophisticated and often very subtle influence campaign across the united states and we are awash with chinese money. and the problem with the democrat is they are not recognizing it for what it is. they are dismissing it. they are fleeing out terms. it was xenophobia, racism, what have you. and the chinese propaganda machine builds that into their thinking that those terms will

be throne out i thrown out to b. i'm glad he is being called out for it. they are not just influencing members on the welcoming committee or the shoe shine committee. it's the armed services committee. the intelligence committee. senator dianne feinstein who is the cheryl of the committee with the spy and her staff. so this is incredibly serious. and we are going to keep calling it out everywhere we can. because it makes what the soviet union tried to do look like junior varsity city. because the amount of money that our companies, politicians and others are addicted to. rachel: well, you are definitely a china hawk. i know a lot of your constituent are very grateful for that you say that down in georgia much more is on the line here than just who controls the senate. you have been saying that if the democrats win both of those seats and take control of not just the senate but, therefore, all levers of government, in the federal government, the executive and both chambers of

commerce, you say our children may end up growing up in a socialist america. explain. >> well, you know, it's not just america led by socialists. it's a world led by chinese communists. the democrats if they control all of congress, and the white house will systematically dismantle president trump's legacy in terms of standing up to china are whether, again, it is taking a tougher stand on ip. the shift in our military, to take them on, the progressives have already called for at least a 20% defense cut. and on and on across the board. the other piece that we have to understand is if the democrats take georgia and they take the senate they will lock down power. pelosi will drop the voting age. she already passed this bill once. she will pass it again to drop

the voting to my knowledge 16 to eliminate voter id to do automatic same day registration. they will put in will d.c. statehood. they will stack the supreme court. so we lose that back stop and then the progressive policies will flow through. and that is not a world that i fought for or a country that i fought for all over the world as a veteran and it's not one i want my kids growing up in. and it all comes to a head on tuesday in georgia. >> congressman, it start on sunday when the speaker has got to run the gawntlet and get the actual vote. she doesn't get those aocs and squad and those on the far left end of the spectrum. >> that's right. >> she can't actually get that gavel again. and there is a group out there called forced to vote the vote. they put out a statement quote we put the squad and house progressives in office to stand up to nancy pelosi statement

democrats and fund them. this is rare moment where pelosi needs something from progressives, end quote. and the concern, congressman, is what price is nancy pelosi willing to pay, probably anything in order to stay in power and what is she give going to give up and what is she going to promise those on the far radical left end of the political spectrum? >> no. that's right. so, a couple of points there. one is she only won her speakership by a few votes last time. when she had a much bigger majority. she had 15 tee fox news deck tores. she only won it by two votes the other thing the seats we just took back in this election republicans took back were mainly their moderate seats. that means the progressives have more of a say. that's exactly the point we have an environment in the house and i see it up close and personal where the sauce is being made with the progressive agenda where folks like pelosi and maxine waters look reasonable because of so many to their left

and that's exactly what they are saying is here is our agenda, speaker pelosi, nancy, if you want to have that gavel again, this is what you are going to push through the senate and on to biden's desk. look, we have -- we will have a country that are run by californians and new york democrats. by schumer, harris, and pelosi. and, again, that's not one -- everybody is fleeing to florida from those two states. they will nationalize their lockdown policy and then where will we go? griff: congressman, in the moments we have left. can i quickly get your reaction to a story that's not getting enough attention in my estimation? that is the trump administration just declassified intelligence suggesting that china paid bounties on u.s. troops in afghanistan. do you know somethin you know sg about being over there. >> i do. i had a bounty on my head from the taliban which i took as a badge of honor. but this is incredibly serious. we regularly saw brand new chinese made weapons all over

the place when we captured them from the tall pan. we could never confirm for sure back then whether they were off the black market or being provided from the chinese government. i am demanding a briefing. i want to see action if this intelligence turns out to be true. here is why. the only country in the world where we currently have a base that borders china and their western provinces that they are so worried about where the general size with the uighurs is going on is in afghanistan. that's why it's important to keep that base and keep that presence. not just for terrorism but for china as well. rachel: congressman, we thank you so much for joining us here on the first day of 2021. no one makes a cak case better n you why we need in congress. thank you so much for joining us, happy new year. >> goodbye 2020. and here is to great 21. god bless. rachel: god bless. all right. we will turn now to your

in trump plaza and the operation warp speed success is a legacy the history books will record for years to come because of his businessman like approach to it rather than a traditional government bureaucratic slow as a snail's pace accepting results in that manner. i will tell you, jason, i'm going to head down from this show to georgia. i think you will hear him talk a lot about warp speed and the vaccine because if, inteed, the democrats win, they get a super majority. they control the white house, the house of representatives, and the senate. and that is a very dangerous thing to put control back into the hands of that slow 'bureaucratic business as usual approach. are. jason: yeah, no kidding. all eyes will be on georgia on tuesday. what's happening literally the day after tomorrow on sunday is this critical vote for nancy pelosi. there are a lot of us who believe that she is going to

have a tough time running the gauntlet to get the majority of votes. she has to get 217 votes there in the house of representatives. they have such a small margin that she has got to do something to make a deal with progressives. and that's the concern. force the vote is this celebrity-driven progressive organization. they put out this statement: we put the squad and house progressives in office to stand up to nancy pelosi. establishment democrats, and the insurance corporations that fund them. this is a rare moment where pelosi needs something from progressives. now, think about how radical this is. they think nancy pelosi is a moderate. but the only way that nancy pelosi can pull this off is she has got to switch votes. people who voted against her last time, she needs their votes, and the concern is she is going to make a deal and oh my goodness, what is that going to do to the country?

we asked earlier, congressman walt from florida was on and listen to what he had to say about this. >> the seats that we just took back in this election that republicans took back were mainly their moderate seats. so that means the progressives even have more of a say. so that's exactly the point. she -- you know, we have an environment in the house and i see it up close and personal where the sausage is being made with the progressive agenda where folks like pelosi and maxine waters look reasonable because of so many to their left. and 'that's exactly what they are saying is here is our agenda, speaker pelosi. nancy, if you want to have that gafl again, this is what you are going to push. rachel: absolutely right. her majority is so slim. she is absolutely beholden to the progressives. she is beholden to every member. a few weeks ago we saw all this information become public about eric swalwell who sits on the

control. jason: now jenny beth, you have had some people supportive of donald trump saying look, this election is a fraud. there has been all sorts of fraud out there. so don't even participate in the election. it's actually scaring some people off. are you doing anything to squash that, that approach and saying no, everybody still needs to show up? >> well, absolutely. in fact, i'm part of the president's legal team here in georgia. i'm the only non-attorney on the team. and we all want to make sure that people go and vote on tuesday and president trump does as well. that's why he's going to be in georgia this coming monday to make sure he gets out the wrote vote the day before. things have happened that are different between what we saw during the jeb election and what we saw now. and one is that the process of -- well, the processing of the absentee ballots, checking the signatures and pulling the ballots out of the envelopes is

open to the public. apparently it always had been but nobody took advantage of this before. the secretary of state highlighted that. and that's one thing that we have going on right now is that we have public observers going in and watching the processing of these ballots. it shines a lot more light on it and it makes that process more transparent. and that gives me a good bit more confidence. i don't think there is a single poll watcher in this state who is going to be fooled into leaving and stopping watching until they actually see the employees leave the building. jason: now, there has been some polling recently that suggests moving forward, it's not going to affect this election. it is amazing to me that people don't support the idea that you should provide a photo identification in order to actually vote in person. i mean, democrats call that voter suppression. i just call it making it a true and honest vote.

you should have to show your identification and that's who you are in order to vote. >> that's exactly right. you know what? i don't think it's really democrats who have a problem with this. i think it's democrat leadership who has a problem with it. the fact is, seven out of 10 democrats and even 61% of people who are very liberal are, according to a recent scott rasmussen poll in just the news, say that they want voter i.d. i think it is just the establishment democrats who tonight want it more than the average person. we all want to know that when we go cast that vote it is -- that the people who are joining us and casting vote are casting legitimate legal vote. we don't want our votes canceled out by something illegal. jason: all you want to do is a all then indicate the vote not that difficult. when you move to another state and tell the post office that hey i have moved to another state, maybe have you actually moved to the other state. jenny beth martin, happy new

martians and chinese and stuff that seems to be no real credible source other than bob bobulinski. rachel: miranda, that was before the election. now i want you to hear them talking after the election. >> cnn is reporting tonight that this investigation was live before the presidential election. >> if this was we gun in some level in 2018 how was it kept quiet particularly over the last several months. this is a significant legal development. in any era that the family member of incoming president is under federal investigation is a big deal. >> will if laws were broken, there should be justice. there needs to be justice. rachel: all right. that's pretty remarkable turn about there. what do you make of this and is the media ashamed? have they apologized? what's going on? >> are good morning, rachel. obviously there is no shame there. and there are no consequences. they just so smoothly as you saw there, just flipped from one

side to the other. they should be ashamed of the fact that they suppressed and also mocked our coverage of the story. and then after the election, of course, whether it didn't matter, when joe biden had been elected, they are quite happy to go and run a little bit about this story. not everything. big tech, also. it's one thing for the media to not cover the story and then to pretend that why on earth wasn't this story made more of before the election? but, the main reason was because big tech decided that it was going to intervene. and that was a historic moment. because it was the first time we had really seen facebook and twitter decide that they were going to exert their power nakedly, obviously, to story legitimate news story in a legitimate newspaper. rachel: yeah, it's definitely frightening in a democracy. let's talk about your second big

mistake that you think the media made this year. you say it's the peaceful, the quote peaceful protest coverage. i think actually we have some video about that. let me show you this and we will come out on the other side. >> what you are seeing behind me is one of multiple locations that have been burning in kenosha, wisconsin over the course of the night. >> i want to be clear in how i characterize this. this is a mostly a protest. it is not -- it is not generally speaking unruly but fires have been started. >> protest in late spring were mostly peaceful but damage from looting and arson will cost 1 billion to $2 billion in claims. rachel: miranda, we still can't get over them say peaceful protests as the flames were going off behind them. >> if you didn't know -- if you hadn't lived through it, you would think that you had just played us three comedy clips because it was so so absurd.

so surreal. but this is what you get. that's what happened in 2020. the media decided that whatever they decided was reality was reality. and if they decided it wasn't, it's like, you know, if a tree falls in a forest and no one hears it fall, did it actually fall? and that was the media's decision last year. it was that whatever that was inconvenient, particularly if it was inconvenient to joe biden's campaign, or just didn't happen, look the other way, let's move right along. rachel: that's right. another inconvenient story you bring up is eric swalwell. eric swalwell. isn't that interesting? his relationship with the chinese spy fact fang wa fang fg news story. you haven't heard it on cnn. they still haven't reported on it on msnbc. this is a story, again, inconvenient to the democratic party. and the narrative that they are trying to run.

and the fact is that china is as john ratcliffe and are intelligence agencies are now admitting is our biggest national security threat. and to have this revelation that the -- democrat congressman who is on the intelligence committee, will reads highly sensitive confidential briefings is compromised by a long time relationship with a chinese spy who was sent here specifically to infiltrate the highest levels of american government, and that goes without much reporting at all, is incredible. the fact that he is still on that committee. rachel: yeah. that is astounding. we were just talking about this morning he still sits on the powerful intel committee despite having been compromised by a chinese spy. all right. miranda, you bring up great mistakes from it 2020. we are hoping that 2021 is a

husband, when he was sworn in, the first time he walked in, he cried the first time he walked in the chambers. i will be thinking of you when you get sworn in because i know that's quite a moment. especially for someone as young as you. you put out a tweet with a video saying that you are going to support this certification -- a review of the certification before january -- on january of 6th. >> you know there are senator like never trump senator ben sasse from nebraska who say this is very dangerous. what do you say to him? what's your response? >> well, the main reason i made the decision is because i think there has been so much noise about why we are objecting to the election. i wanted to make it clear that there are clear constitutional violations. it's not unprecedented to do this. one of our founding fathers, the third president of our country did this. nancy pelosi did this in 2004. the house democrat it again in 2016 with president trump's

election. this is not something new. it's not up precedented. but never trump senators and really kind of members of the left and people in our own party who are saying that this is unprecedented and dangerous for the republic, i believe are just trying to hide. griff: madison, that will be the first thing you do. but you took the nation by storm at the rn rnc' everyone said woa powerful new voice. what do you think your service will be about. >> are i hope it redefines the republican party. a new party, a bolder party. one that isn't so reactionary. isn't isn't the party of no. but is a thought leader on issues like the environment. what's going on with the economic crisis in our country. actually solving issues rather than just responding to what the democrats could. i believe that our party should welcome everybody, regardless of religion or race as long as you believe in freedom and free market capitalism, you are welcome here. jason: i have got to tell you, madison, i'm as excited about

anybody you personally going to congress. the youngest member of congress. you and person like lauren and some of these others. a fresh new voice. you are the hope of the future. one of the things that i love that you say you are going to take on the establishment. the establishment to me is not just on the democratic side of the aisle, it's also on the republican side of the aisle. how do you plan be to do that? >> well, you are absolutely right. just like you said with a young congresswoman like lauren bo bowbart young people coming in the fraternal class patriots. i have been trying to figure out why so many good patriots come to washington, d.c. and turn into these establishment pawns. i believe it's because of career precisions. you know, i think it will be a monumental task but i believe the best way to fix this is, one, get money mostly out of politics but, two. to get term limits on congress. i believe that will take a constitutional amendment. but getting these people out of even in our own party. who have been there for 10, 20 years, i think that will be the best way to fix washington, d.c.

rachel: madison, you are young. you grew up on social media. you understand the power of big tech probably much better than many of our older members. we talk a lot about the power of big tech whether it's free speech, censorship, you know, election interhe feern interfern november and relationship with china which is very troubling. what do you think is the best way for congress to deal with the power of big tech? >> well, one, you have to look into it and see if there really trutruly is a monopoly going on with big tech. social media facebook and twitter. i believe we need to reform section 230. i think that right now we have these places that are acting like they are a platform. but they are sensorring speech and acting more as a plush publ. hold them liable for what

happens. griff: all right, madison, finally speaker pelosi is going -- she is confident actually she is going to get the gavel again on sunday. elected the first woman speaker of the house in 2003. how do you intend to challenge such a powerful and entrenched leader like her? >> no doubt she is probably one of the most powerful speakers we have ever are had in our nation's history. i don't think she is going to be a really large fan of may. but i think the number one way we can fight against the democratic machine right now as we are in the minority, is to actually fight this culture battle. there is a policy battle that needs to be fought but right now as nancy pelosi will have the gavel in her hand, there is not much republicans can do. so the number one thing i think we can do is reach out to the american community that have been unreached by our ideology and sprain to them why they should believe in free market capitalism and the freedom of religion and freedom of speech. i think that we have a great message. we have just had bad messengers

griff: griff welcome pack.> griff: welcome back. the most attended football game is fleeing california and will be held today at the at&t stadium in texas only the second time in history the game will not be played in california. the first was in 1942, just weeks after pearl harbor. my next guest left california for texas himself and is asking if the golden state can get anything right. chuck devore is a former california assemblyman who left the state for texas. he is now vice president of the texas public policy foundation

and joins me now. chuck, happy new year. >> happy new year, griff. griff: it's going to be so strange to tune in this afternoon to watch the rose bowl coming to me from arlington, texas because california can't get it right. why? >> yeah. you are absolutely right. i mean, the rose bowl used to be this huge thing for the chamber of commerce in california, right? people all around the country would see the -- this beautiful weather. the mountains in the back drop and people said hey, california is a beautiful place. why don't we move there? and now, of course, it's going to be in texas. this is crazy. i think what's happening is you have got this insufferable air gans of this one party dominated system in california. you have democrats that have all of the statewide elected offices. they have super majorities in both the state assembly and the state senate, and at the very top you have governor gavin newsom who tells people who do one thing and then is caught

feasting at some high end eatery with a bunch of lobbyists. you know, it's do as i say, not as i do, i guess. the problem is, of course, the people of the state have had it. they can't take it anymore. and as a result, i think the guy is going to get recalled. griff: from you to elon musk. only person who hasn't left california. comparison i'm making what is it about what governor abbott is doing in texas or take last night new year's eve in florida governor desantis is too long things. you had disney world sold out for new year's. they have kept those attractions open. making comparison to the rose bowl and major football games. somehow the leaders -- political leaders of california are failing in their solutions. why is that? >> well, and you make a really good point. the rose bowl in pasadena, california can hold about, i don't know, 94,000 people in an

outdoor setting. all the organizers wanted was a few friends and family of the football players to be able to show up and you probably would have had a bunch of cardboard cutouts and even that was too much for the politicians in california to abide. and so what you see is these draconian lockdown orders that don't seem to make a bit of difference in the spread of the coronavirus. you see spiking unemployment in california. businesses going out of business. especially family owned businesses. and people fleeing the state. and meanwhile, in places like florida, you have the opposite. and what i find very interesting is that you have to balance this, right? people have to have a livelihood. they have to have the ability to interact with other people. and the problem that we see here is these politicians continue to push these orders down but none of them mispaychecks. so, it's very difficult for them to connect with the average person. griff: you put your finger on

something, chuck, talk about those small businesses nowhere perhaps in america are restaurants and bars suffering more than in california when you have such a small percentage, less than 2% of the covid spread happened there but if you look at both the shutdown of the small business owners and restaurants owners in california, all the way up to the hewlett pack cards and the major big companies fleeing silicon valley, it seems the policy is wrong. you run a policy foundation now in extension, quickly in the time we have left, what policy changes does governor gavin newsom have to make? >> well, i think it may be too little too late, he has to get a handle on the state's regulatory system and the tax system. the taxes, the lawsuits, the regulations are so difficult, let me give you a quick example. elon musk, when he built his new tesla gig go factory outside of austin, he was breaking ground on that new factory within weeks of making the decision to move to texas. it would have taken him five

rachel: happy new year. griff: i love that dozens gathered, jason, it's the reality of covid-19 in 2020. but it you looked last are night when the ball dropped, we did have some entertainers in times square and some front-line health care workers that did get to go. you see the ball coming down. there was one image that struck me as nothing short of pompous and quite offensive, and that was mayor de blasio dancing with his wife. he's not an entertainer. there's no reason for you, he who told us not to go to times square, should be there having fun. it's like he's, well, let me enjoy all of this for you since you can't be here because i told you not to be here. now, i love times square. numerous times i've crowd surfed over the years -- [laughter] two years ago, there we are last, two years ago with carley shimkus crowd surfing, and there's such a wonderful spirit -- [laughter]

of enjoyment and merriment to be had in times square. but really -- there we are. gosh, look how young and silly i look, good lord. [laughter] but the fact that de blasio was going to celebrate and show us how much we could celebrate just arrogant and offensive in my opinion, rachel. rachel: i agree with you. i did not do a lot of celebrating, i had to get up early this morning, and my kids were annoyed we me. the duffys are going to do a redo on new year's eve of so we can have a little more fun than i was last night. jason, you were right around the corner. did you catch a glimpse of any of it? jason: no. if i had gone out there and seen mayor de blasio dancing, i don't want to -- [laughter] bomb it on the first morning of the day. come on, that's disgusting. all right, we'd better move on. president trump is back from florida. he's actually at the white house to help ring in 2021. griff: the president returned to

d.c. amid the fight over covid virus relief. rachel: and lucas tomlinson is live in washington with the president's new year's message to americans. lucas? >> reporter: happy new year, guys. a vaccine arriving before the end of the year, something many people didn't think possible. president trump recalled two weeks after the election pfizer announced its vaccine was 95% effective. >> over and over again we were told it would be impossible to deliver a vaccine by the the end of the year. they said it would take a medical miracle, and that's exactly what this is. >> reporter: in his new year's message, the president praised front-line workers. on capitol hill, the senate working on this holiday. in five days congress is supposed to certify the electoral college results, president trump returned one day early to push $2,000 stimulus checks joining democrats in that effort. the increased checks have little

chance of passing this congress. the senate majority leader blasted democrats for wanting more cash. >> they believe a family of five should have to earn $350,000 before government money would stop socialism for rich people. that's what speaker pelosi and senator sanders have sketched out. >> reporter: the president heads down to georgia to rally voters on monday. rachel, griff, jason, happy new year. jason: do appreciate it. 2021's going to get off to a fast start because on sunday you have the swearing in of the new members of congress, they have the speaker vote which is going to go on for hours and is fascinating because nancy pelosi might not make it to the finish line there. tuesday is the georgia runoff race where georgians are going to show up en masse, i hope, and go vote. and on wednesday, the 6th, congress is supposed to certify the results of the 2020

election, presidential election. but i've got to tell you, there's a growing list of house republicans planning to challenge the electoral college results. if you look at that name, it seems every day that number continues to grow. earlier, with we spoke with an incoming new freshman, madison cawthorn, republican out of north carolina, talking about how he plans to challenge the electoral college results. >> there's been so much noise about why we are objecting to the election. i wanted to make it very clear that it's because there were clear constitutional violations, and it's not unprecedented to do this. one of our founding fathers, the third president of our countrying, did this, nancy pelosi in 2004, the house democrats did it again in 2016 with president trump's election. this is not something new. members of the left and people in our own party who are saying that this is unprecedented and dangerous for the republic, i believe, are just trying to hide. rachel: that was madison cawthorn saying this was, it may

be controversial, but it's definitely not unprecedented. everybody's eyes, however, i think, are really focused on georgia because georgia is where the whole levers of power and government are going to depend on the outcome in georgia. our own peter doocy caught up with senate candidate jon ossoff who's had some troubling ties to a company in hong kong that has ties to the chinese government. he didn't report those payments that he received, and our own peter doocy, as always, asking the tough questions, asking him why he didn't do that. take a look. finish. >> why is it that you waited until after the primary to reveal that your busied business with a company in hong kong that was linked to the chinese government? >> oh, this is utter knop sense. >> reporter: are you concerned through a payment to a well known young democrat somebody linked to china or the chinese

through another company could be trying to influence you? >> come on, man, you're a serious reporter. do you really believe that a tv channel in hong kong airing an investigation that my company produced isis war crimes in iraq is what you're implying it is or what david perdue is implying? griff: come on, man. using that page from the biden playbook. this is why this matters to all americans in 2021 and if indeed the democrats win the georgia senate runoff, they will have a supermajority in washington, the white house, the house of representatives and the senate, and they will likely not be as tough on china as president trump has been. we had congressman michael walz on in the previous hour talking about the fact that democrats are ignoring china's growing influence in the u.s. here is some of what he had to

say. >> this is a problem across the board. i think whether it's ossoff, swalwell, others that are being exposed, guys, this is the tip of the ice brg of chinese influence in our politics. you discussed earlier in media, movie companies, wall street, manufacturing, certainly our universities, this is a coordinated, sophisticated and often very subtle influence call pain across the united states -- campaign across the united states, and we are awash with chinese money. and the problem with the democrats is they're not recognizing it for what it is. rachel: jason, congressman waltz is a well known china hawk, former green beret. he talks a lot about how subtle. the chinese are very smart. the way they exert influence over our government, over our economy, over our leaders is often not in these really, you know, exotic spy, you know,

sleeping with the chinese spy thing that eric swalwell did. it could be very subtle like this payment to jon ossoff. jason: it is the pervasive, and it's not manager to ignore. i'm -- manager to ignore. one thing donald trump did really well is highlight the threat from china. you're not going to hear that from the democratic side of the aisle. i want to transition to something we can all feel good about because the mayor of flavortown, guy fieri, he teamed up with barstool sports, and they are raising money -- there are 127,000 people out there that have made donations to help out raising a fund in excess of $16 million helping these companies. you know, people need relief, they need help, but they have really targeted businesses that without their help, they would be really struggling. listen to what the mayor of flavortown said about his joining and teaming up with

accused of destroying hundreds of coronavirus vaccine doses is arrested. police say he admitted to removing vials from a hospital refrigerator on purpose knowing it would make the doses ineffective. some of the spoiled doses were given to patients before the vials were thrown out. the unnamed suspect was fired from the hospital and is facing charges. the hospital is working with moderna to revaccinate those who received the spoiled vaccine. the new year, new laws. in just one month small amounts of street drug cans including hend meth will be decriminalized in oregon, and anyone wanting to get a driver's license in the state won't have to provide proof that they live in the u.s. the oregon dmv says people who are unable to provide proof of citizenship will not be automatically registered to vote after getting a driver's license. and later today the

but it wasn't too long ago when the testimony accurates and the media -- democrats and the media doubted a vaccine would even be possible by year's end. here to react is fox news medical contributor dr. nicole saphier. doctor, welcome to the show and happy new year. is the president right to take the final hours of 2020 and sort of rub this in the face of the media and take a little victory lap there? >> well, happy new year, rachel and jason. i was one of the people at the beginning of the pandemic where i thought it would be out of this world that we would have a vaccine, and lo and behold, not only do we have one, but we have two, and many other close to getting their fda emergency use authorization. i can tell you this vaccine rollout has been the glimmer of hope and motivation that health care workers have really needed as december has proven to be the deadliest month if so far. it has been a very arduous course for many americans but really including the health care workers mentally and physically, so this vaccine rollout has

really been important. jason: doctor, one of the casualties here of the lockdown is people not showing up for their cancer diagnosis treatments and their check-ups. some of that has dropped by some 50%, i read. i've got to tell you with, personally, i lost my mom to breast cancer almost 25 years ago now, and i only wish that they a had the diagnostic tools and the medicine and the treatment that they do. i also lost my dad to colon cancer, and i remember e when he passed away, theyside if he'd had any sort of check-up in the previous 8-10 years, he would still be with us today. the fact that people aren't getting their check-ups just breaks my heart. >> jason, you just mentioned two of the most easily treated cancers if detexted early. the pandemic's influence is going to be felt for years to come. surveys out of jama and the american cancer society, about a

third of people may have delayed treatment for their known cancer, and in the first half of the year, about 90% of cancer screenings were either stopped completely or delayed, and we've with diagnosed about a half fewer, 50 percent fewer breast cancers in the first course of the year. that doesn't mean there's fewer out there, that just means we're missing it. so myself and my colleagues are really look willing at the day eta to see how many cancers were missed because people didn't come in and how many cancers are still out there not being treated. so, jason, i can tell you that covid is bad, cancer is worse. and when it comes to cancer, early detection saves lives, especially breast, colon, lung, thyroid, prostate, cervical, all of those. so as we enter 2021, it is important for a hell think and happy new year -- healthy and happy new year, call your doctor, get your routine checks, make sure you're getting your cancer screenings because we have come so far in advancement, it would be a shame not to take

advantage of it because early detection and treatment does save lives. rachel: doctor, is it because people are so afraid of catching covid at the hospital? what's going on? why aren't their doctors reaching out to them to say, hey, it's time to do this? what's going on? >> well, rachel, there's a lot of reasons. in the very beginning, a lot of elective procedures and appointments were being told by policymakers had to stop, one, because they wanted to make sure they had enough hospital beds but, unfortunately, that universal recommendation may have gone a bit too far. so appointments were canceled. many people did not reschedule. but also people are more afraid of covid than anything else. i can tell you on christmas day though i actually had to call someone to tell them that they had covid, they had a covid-positive test, and when i called her, she was very nervous because i had diagnosed her cancer a few years earlier, and i said i have to tell you you have covid, and she's like, oh, thank goodness you're not telling me i have cancer again. that's perspective, rachel --

rachel: yes. >> -- because cancer is still there. we cannot be paralyzed because there are many other things that if we neglect, can really take control. and then all of this would be for nawsmght we have been i avoiding covid, but what else are we letting slip away while we are paralyzed in fear from covid? jason: dr. nicole saphier, a huge fan of what you do and how you do it and the message you're sharing. i've got to tell you, i wish that message had gotten to my participants earlier. thank you to the dedication of your career to this cause. rachel? rachel: absolutely are. i concur with that,. you're just amazing, and what a great perspective you've given us on covid versus cancer. thank you. still ahead, new details about governor gavin new many's ties to a lobbyist who threw the infamous french laundry dinner party9 and the democrats' fading

♪ ♪ jason: some quick headlines. the new year brings new minimum wages to 21 states. today in california the minimum wage will go up to $14 an hour for workers at larger companies. eight states are moving forward with plans to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. and black lives matter is calling for monthly stimulus checks. the group slamming the latest relief package saying struggling americans should receive payments every month. meanwhile, congresswoman-elect corey bush i says bml should not become a fad. >> now we have corporations saying black lives matter. but what we need to do is not allow it to be a fad, we with need it to be fact. jason: she says congress needs legislation to defend black lives. griff? griff: thanks. well, the call to remove

governor gavin newsom is gaining steam. now the questions are being raised over the governor's longtime relationship with lobbyist jason kinney who threw the infamous french laundry dinner party that governor newsom attended. so will the push to oust newsom prove to be successful? let's ask the woman who is part of the golden state's 2003 governor gray davis recall, tammy bruce. tammy, happy new year. thanks for joining us. >> same to you. my pleasure, great way to start the new year. griff: it is, indeed. i think this is a story that's really going to gain steam. since 1911, i believe it is, 55 times california's tried to recall their governor, but only once was it successful. you were a part of it in 2003, recalling governor davis. of course, we got arnold schwarzenegger out of it. what do you see in parallel between then and now? >> well, that was a real populist effort, it was,

obviously, thousands of people involved in organizing. but it -- the similar thing is, of course, the people of the southwest, people of the west of this country really still are revolutionaries. we all are at heart, right? it's in our dna. i think what californians, while all americans are generally, of course, tolerant, we're quiet people, what they don't like is unfairnesses, they don't like being lied to, and that's what gavin newsom did, that's what gray davis was doing to the state as well. also negative impact on the economy. so this is really a nonpartisan issue. so i think that they can have success. i certainly hope they do. schwarzenegger was not a success, so my only warning is. when you do this recall, make sure that there's a lot of thought put into who it is that's being encouraged to run. there are over 60 people by the way, griff, who ran for governor on the same ballot as the recall in 2003. it was a fabulous experience. it was a nonpartisan race.

and we know that the process worked well. but i think that this is a warning to everyone, it's the economy, the handling of covid, the corruption, this lobbyist guy. californians don't like it, and i think they'll be successful. griff: and it's fascinating, in 2003, of course, davis was dealing with an energy crisis, his failures there led to the recall. now we have newsom and his failures enabling covid-19 -- in the handling covid-19. how close though is this to actually succeeding? we know you need a million and a half signatures, they've got a little over 800,000. >> that's right. griff: we just saw a firm give half a million dollars to this effort. how likely is it to succeed? >> well, the campaign itself has noted on social media that a lot of that money we've heard, big donations, are good. they're not in cash now, and they need paid circulators. that's what our experience was

in 2003, that the populist base, the grassroots base is great in distributing, but you need an organized, paid circumstance is later framework -- circulator framework. money is needed. this can be done, but they don't want people to think big news about this great support makes it done. it's not done. we have to start -- they have until march. that's not a lot of time, and we've got to get this done. it is the very least that americans can pull off, and we've done it before, and so keep that in mind. they can do it. they need to get past the 1.5 million, of course, because some of those signatures won't be good, and they realize that. but it certainly is a doable framework. griff: just in the time we've got, about 30 seconds left, how important is it raising questions about the governor's ties to this lobbyist, kipny, that- kipny, that he was at this 50 evident birthday party at the french laundry in. >> yeah. well, you know, i acquaint corruption like a bag of potato chips, you don't do it just

once, right? you keep going. in this case it's like a pile of trash. you don't dig true the trash to -- through the trash to find the sweet smelling roses. there's more underneither. he's been a failure at governing, and now you've got a guy who writes his speeches who was part of this french laundry dinner, the concern is that gavin newsom is doing things that benefit that lobbyist and those interests as opposed to benefiting if people of california. and how do you know? because the people of california in dire straits, and gavin newsom and his friends are not. griff: tammy bruce kicking off 2021 with a great line. it's so true, you can't just eat one potato chip. thanks, tammy. >> that's right. see you next time. griff: coming up, another example of rules for thee but not for me, chicago teachers union board member facing criticism for vacationing in the

or closing them. here she is saying: hearing of an educator revolution happening. tons of members remailing their administration. i'll be asserting my right to continue to work in a safe, remote environment on january 4, 2021. i have signed the pledge along with other 8,000 union educators to continue to work remotely. so but here's the problem, david. on the same day she posted an instagram post of her in the caribbean where she says spending the last day of 2020 by the poolside. we have the whole pool to ourself. you and i both know that remote learning is not working for our kids. they're falling behind. interestingly or probably ironically and more infuriatingly, special needs kids are falling the most behind. what do you make of this hypocrisy? >> here it is on clear display

for america, what you just laid out. and you're right, the rules for thee not for me crowd doesn't care. they prop up failed schools, they prop up failed teachers, and the students are losing. the data across perk that we're seeing develop -- across america that we're seeing develop out of this are the students are not learning. therefore, they're not able to go on with their lives in a better position to run their lives. but to the special needs things, there are, of course, additional things that they need; the socialization, these kids need that interaction. and they need the more careful attention that a professional can give them and that a parent, they may care and they do, but they can't give them. so you need that working together. and this is just plain hypocrisy. and we're not being served by these teachers. these cobbled-together systems, rachel, they don't work as well. there have been rarely -- rarely have there been systems, you

know, a zoom call, teaching in class, it just doesn't work. griff: what message does it send -- let me show you the instagram post that rachel was talking about. look at my toes, i'm in paradise shot, and it absolutely suggests that, well, here's where i am while you're doing what? well, you're sitting at home. i have kids who are remote learning. i have -- every day i get kicked off my own home wi-fi because i've got a 15-year-old trying to do a math class. and yet she's sitting poolside, and in the caption she says got the pool all to myself. what message, seriously, does this send when education couldn't be at a more critical point in our country? >> you know, griff, great point. let me speak to the parents on this point. so she's poolside having a great time in puerto rico while parents are home trying to keep up with their kids. and in these underserved communities, tip create --

typically your access to technology is not as good. in some cases they're lucky if they have wi-fi to lose, if they have the inter-- to use, if they have the internet to use, and that's another area of this pulse of america that's being hurt more by this school shutdown are the poor and underserved communities where they don't have the technology, today don't have the support systems and especially in many single-parent homes. parents try hard, there are good parents out there, but they can't do it all when they have all these things against them the, including the system. jason: yeah, totally agree. david, i want to get your reaction. there's a person in richmond, virginia. he's a teacher. he is supposed to become the -- he was the 20199 teacher of the year, but the tweet he sent is outrageous. who are mitch mcconnell's neighbors? i'm just saying, rand paul's neighbors did what a true kentucky neighbor should do.

it's your turn to step up, advocating violence, physical violence, against the senate majority leader, mitch mcconnell. >> well, against anyone. and, by the way, i read through the citations for his 2019 teacher of the year award, and it's -- well, it's tragic. i mean, this is someone who when you look at what they say and what they stand for, are they going to be the next anti-bullying advocate for next year? is there more hypocrisy here? this is a leftist narrative, this is a leftist who shouldn't be teaching our children and certainly shouldn't be someone upholding social values and educational values. but then again, back to the point of the union and the structure. they prop up these failed teachers, these failed systems, and we've got to realize that our children are not being served across america which is why we have options like home schooling, which is why we have more and more people going to that, which is why we have

charter, magnet schools. we need alternatives and competition because in the end if we don't maximize the human capital of these children so they grow up to be more productive adults, this nation will suffer. griff: hey, david, to be fair too, the teacher did tweet an awe apology. here's what he said: i made a bad joke today referencing the rand paul neighbor, finding mitch mcconnell's neighbors today. i apologize for the joke, and i don't advocate for violation against anyone. here's the point, why is it that anyone -- let alone a teacher of the year -- feels that it's okay to tweet out just hatred and even inciting violence to politicians simply because they disagree with their policies or politics? >> you know, can we reread the tweet -- i'm joking for a second about that -- and find the joke in the tweet. rachel: right. >> somebody explain that to me. where's the joke?

and it's filled with people, millions of people literally. but this year they kind of shut everything down, it was pretty much off limits to just the people working the times square. we did get to see the ball drop but not actually in times square. completely different than years past. jason: you know, have you gone to bed yet? are you still on shift? >> i have not gone to bed yet. we were pretty busy all night. jason: well, i've got to tell you, jonathan, there are people across this country that are first responders, they're policemen, they're firemen, they work in the ambulances, the emts, you've got nurses, doctors, people just hike you, order -- like you, ordinary americans doing extraordinary things. i hope you understand and feel the support and love of the american people for what you do. >> we're just ordinary people, you know, we're no different than anybody else. i'm doing my job, and i love

doing my job, and i look forward to doing it every day. i go to work every day with a smile on my face. even though the outlook is, you know, pretty grim sometimes, but i always have a smile on my face. i love doing it. jason: tell the american people if you had a message to share with everybody, what do you want them to know about the new york fire department and what you do and what the first responders do in general? >> new york fire department's the best fire department in the world, hands down, bar none. the training that you get here, the people that you protect, the city you predict, it's phenomenal -- protect, it's phenomenal. i wouldn't want to have it any other place. first responders, you know, we respond to everything, fire alarms, ems calls, fires unfortunately. but it's part of the job and signed up to protect the city, and that's what we do, we protect the city every day. jason: well, last night it was an honor for the first responders, that was the whole point, is to thank the first
