them were campaign promises, to dismantle key trump administration policies, for example he stopped construction of the border wall ordering officials to preserve daca, reversing the muslim travel ban and rejoining the paris climate agreement, rejoining the world health organization with a delegation that is being led right now by doctor anthony fauci, killing the keystone pipeline and issue in the 100 a mask challenge with a mandate for federal property and that is just the start adding he wants legislation to follow. earlier in the day history was made under unprecedented security with three former presidents on hand, biden setting the tone for his presidency say unity must be the driving principle. >> this is our historic moment of crisis and challenge and unity is the path forward. we must meet this moment as the

believe any of this is possible and republicans gave it an f, not just because of the content that they said this isn't a democracy as many republicans don't believe this was a fair election so they turned out. this is a nice message of unity, that many of us would love to see but it is a tough road ahead because this is the most delighted i've ever seen the country. todd: here is the president on his way out talking about building the greatest political movement in history. >> with millions of hard-working patriots across this land, rebuilt the greatest political movement in the history of the country, we built the greatest economy in the history of the world. it was about america first because we wanted to make america great again. we restored the principle that a nation exists to serve its

citizens. >> not surprisingly the grades going in the other direction. >> republicans gave in a, independent privacy, democrats f. republicans still supporting the president. a lot of questions, does he still have support. a lot of republicans are supporting him. independents he lost that support. many independents liked his message and his policies, he lost the independents, the very neutral towards at this moment. democrats not surprisingly gave him and if, we saw that consistently throughout his four years as president, no different now. >> independents seem pretty neutral in that first portion of it that i read, what do independents want? they seemed pretty in the middle on both. >> independents turned off, they don't believe there is actually going to be a coming together. they don't believe there is a place for them. they are seeing a very extreme environment where you are either on the left or right but people

in the line left behind and what is going to take? will take action on the part of the president to bring us together, to actually heal and that means not just saying unity, not just saying today's a different day. it has to behave that way, has to extend is armed to the other side. and for the democrats they have to acknowledge is divided as we are it wasn't just the president donald trump that created the division. it happened on both sides and if we want a new day that both sides have to acknowledge that even if they blame one side more than the other. independents itunes out and in many ways just want to see something different and are not hearing anything truly different. >> regardless of politics we can all agree that joe biden soundbite was read beautifully. league dials that. appreciate your time. thank you so much. >> great to see you.

inauguration policies a bone to the left part of his party but does he fully understand the ramifications to our country and to the migrants themselves? >> i have been in immigration laws and 1984. the one that was issued yesterday is by far the most anti-enforcement priority memorandum i have ever seen. you mentioned a moratorium on deportations. the memo says if you have been in this country since before november 1st, 2020, you are not to be removed which means you could be in this country legally, convicted of child molestation, convicted of rape and you won't be removed, there is a moratorium on your removal. i have never seen anything like this in my career and it says in the memorandum if you're in jail and have been arrested ice can't take action on you until you are convicted of a crime so if

you're in the country illegally you get arrested for rape, if you are not convicted of that crime and get released on bail others cannot touch you. this is incredible. i've never seen anything like it. this is a mom or and him that is a public safety nightmare. >> coronavirus and the vaccine, getting that out committee getting that distributed is top of the line for things joe biden is going to be focused on now that he is officially president biden but as we've talked about the last few days you have that migrant caravan already making its way north to the southern border. do you think he potentially is going to be forced with doing something about immigration sooner than he thought and not in the way he thought because if you have a caravan at the southern border it will be a problem. >> there's nothing he can do.

things in my opinion. if you try to compare this to what happened at the capital there's a group of people who will be offended by the notion so to say all these are of their own merit, destructive and harmful to peace, society and law and order what you need to ask, elected officials are consistent so you are missing big tech censorship and things of that nature, you can't do that with legislation but what we can do is respond to things like this, trying to burn down buildings and killed police officers which is not far off. we need to respond consistently regardless what their motivations are. there is no such thing as a just war complex, this is not justified, this is unjust and they should go to jail with the same force and figure is the people that stormed the capital. >> there's a new commander-in-chief this morning. what does that mean for your fellow brave men and women currently defending our freedom?

>> anyone who served this country honorably deserves the opportunity to do the job. the biggest question are we going to sign another waiver when what happened with mattis was so unpredictable. republicans in the senate were happy to advocate for general mattis and then criticizing when he didn't agree with donald trump. they are adding a little more wisdom because they have to pass a waiver to let him serve in this role but biggest criticism is his earlier remarks were focused on internal issues like sexual assault and racism and white supremacy. i don't think anyone gets this job today without those remarks because of where the democratic party is. i want to know more, learn more and understand what his plans are to keep the military effective, ready.

treatment and ppe so it is not surprising. one thing that is crucial right now is making sure we have enough supplies to administer these vaccines. under operation warp speed the syringes and everything that comes with administering the vaccine, we did notice extra doses in those pfizer files, that is wonderful news because you have more doses for more americans than we expected. this applies to administer didn't match up. we want to make sure we have enough to administer the vaccine once we get it but however they need to do it, funding availability, we have to get them. jillian: a study project unemployment from the pandemic will cause 900,000 us deaths. that is a devastating number. what is your reaction to that?

having me. jillian: your reaction, waking up this morning, take it all. in message of unity to the executive action. what do you think? >> i mean, look, nothing says unity unlike unwinding everything the previous administration did. so much of it was very beneficial to the american people. i mean you could start with the keystone pipe line. that pipeline has led to thousands of jobs for americans while also leading us to be energy independent and actually having a dominant hand in the world's markets when it comes to natural gas and oil. undoing that does not help the american people. that's just playing politics. i hope that the president, biden president biden now doesn't go down the radical line of following the agenda and not doing what's best for the american people. todd: what do you think joe biden should have said and should have done instead? >> well, i think his speech was actually fine. it it was probably a good tone. it was a pretty good tone for the country. but he probably should take the time to go and do the research on a lot of these policies. i'm quite sure that members of his staff have gone through and

said this is what we need to do on day one. but it would be better if he actually consulted republicans. had a serious, vigorous conversation debate about these issues before unleashing these executive orders. jillian: what does the future of the republican party look like? >> actually great. we have a lot of new members come in. they are young and refreshing. they are bold and inbener jet particular and conservative and unapologetic about that. i think the party is strong. i think we are going to be much stronger in the future. i think it's important for everybody to remember with the exception of the presidential election in the runoffs in georgia, the republican party did phenomenally well all across the united states of america. so i think our party is strong and i think our future is bright. todd: congressman, you have been technically proud of your office as a congressman. what can you tell us about how you have constructed your team as sort of a model for both the g.o.p. and quite frankly for america going forward? >> well, listen, the number one thing i wanted is i wanted people who were young and who

had an -- who never really had an opportunity to excel and succeed and give them that opportunity. i wanted people who were going to be very professional but also very aggressive and actually in some respects act like they were the congressman themselves. i want them to push boundaries. i want them to do research and ask hard questions. i want them to be hungry. when you find young people who are hungry and talented and they want to do better in their own personal lives i think giving them an opportunity to succeed is what everybody wants in america and i wanted to do that in your office. jillian: there is still a deep division in this country. a lot of people who supported president trump who still at this point aren't sure if they want to give joe biden a chance as president of the united states. the what do you say to them? because a lot of people, you know, have mixed emotions about this still and a lot of people are hurt. >> well, actually, i think every four years is mixed emotions depending on which side of the political aisle you are on. i attended the inauguration yesterday. and the reason why i did it is because the transfer of power essential to our republic. it's the thing that allows, you
