since he appoints the sheriff, oversees the department that if he is not holding the sheriff accountable that means he has to be held accountable. carley: we are watching footage of the incident where you say the two plainclothes officers approached you in the middle of the night, you had no idea they were police officers and you also say the sheriff's department exaggerated the injuries the officer faced so the sheriff is pushing back on your calls for resignations saying the sergeant is a victim of a crime, and assault using deadly physical force and his attacker calling for anyone's resignation is genuinely absurd. what is your response to that? >> the jury got to see more footage than you got to see at home. we are working on trying to get those videos released. they got to see how poorly

trained the sheriff's department is and unfortunately because of their lack of training and lack of leadership from the top these deputies were put in harm's way just as i was too and thankfully the situation didn't become worse. sheriff need better training because they are not used to carrying out these tasks and that falls on the sheriff himself, deputy knees -- deputies need better training. todd: i want to get the next topic, governor cuomo saying new york city restaurants about expect indoor dining anytime soon but also said the economy needs to reopen. here's more of the cuomo confusion. >> we will have nothing left to open. we must reopen the economy.

todd: democratic lawmakers introduced a bill to raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour in 2025. >> we must never lose sight of the fact that over half of the workers in america today, the richest country in the history of the world, are living paycheck to paycheck. todd: author of the proximity principle, america's career coach, $15 minimum wage will lift millions out of poverty, true or false? >> completely false, it is a fairytale, the reality is when you force a minimum wage increase small business owners are going to pass on those costs in two ways, they have to either raise prices or cut expenses and cut jobs and many times both, the congressional budget office has estimated a minimum loss of jobs if you raise the minimum

wage, they think it can be as high - 6 million jobs. this is all good political posturing but the reality is it will cause a lot of people to lose jobs, very people the minimum wage is designed to help. todd: critics point out $7.25 an hour is not a livable wage, your response? >> they are right, but let's look at the big picture. it was never intended to be a livable wage. this is an entry point for people in the workforce. some people would say wait a second, i know somebody in their mid-20s and 30s trying to get ahead and the reality is that is an entry point wage. it was never designed for

someone to feed a family on. it was never designed to be a 40 hour a week wage. when i first started working, don't want to age myself, the minimum wage was $4.25 an hour and i was thrilled with that because it was my first job. i was 15 working in a greenhouse. we have to understand this is a lot of political posturing into my previous point when you read the minimum wage you are going to actually put a lid on opportunities for people who just wants to get in and begin their working career to work up the ladder. todd: critics say the minimum wage is not kept up with inflation. your response? >> it shouldn't keep up with inflation. let's play that out. of inflation happens, raise the minimum wage the economy corrects itself because it usually does, we have an outsized mandated wage. the other thing about this point, this contributes to inflation. when you mandate a minimum wage and keep increasing and forcing business owners to make bad decisions for their company they are passing the price on to you, your combo meal is a lot more
