friday's follies. the left's persecution of americans is getting more alarming each day. the sinister effort is aided and abetted by the media. today the "new york times" published a lengthy article detailing the affiliations between certain gop lawmakers including the arizona reps and racist right wing militias. according to the "times": the evidence that the group in questions are white supremacy militias?
7:02 pm
that comes from the smear group the southern comfort law center. the leader of that group was horrified when he heard about the january 6th capitol riots. you have to read quite a ways into the "times" hit piece before coming across this line: so far no evidence surfaced publicly to back up those claims. the "times" is not alone in hurling these baseless accusations at the jop. -- gop. pelosi is enabling the entire gop now as the enemy win and accusing them of aiding and abetting murderous mobs and pred

is fine with that. >> speaker pelosi [inaudible]. >> he speaks with speaker pelosi on a regular basis. i don't think i have anything more. >> laura: is that the unity? that's seeping down to her caucus. multiple democrats are mulling whether to sever ties completely with those republicans. i don't know if they understand that donald trump opened pandora's box. a californian believes more balance can -- violence can be

ahead and we need to do something. this slander is taking this country down a very dangerous path. we warned you about this for years. if the democrats got into power, they would try to turn the entire american national security apparatus into its own domestic spy ring that tracks and punishing joe biden's political opponents. joining me now in tulsi gabbard former hawaii congresswoman. january 6th was a sad and horrific day. my fear is this talk of this forever threat, the enemy within is going to mean the government has more power and we have fewer rights and freedoms? >> your thoughts? >> it is an incredibly dangerous situation we are in with our country on edge.
7:05 pm
this kind of broad, inflammatory rhetoric is like throwing a match into the tinderbox. what speaker pelosi is talking about is a very serious thing if there is evidence to back what she is saying. her quote is we have members of congress who want to bring guns on the floor and threatened violence on other members of congress. we are a country of laws. if what she is saying is true, this is a legal issue for law enforcement. when i was a member of congress a few years ago someone in the public was making threats on my life and saying he would track me down and behead me. i reported it to law enforcement. they investigated the threats and found them to be credible. charged him and he was found guilty and held accountable for
7:06 pm
that dram. -- crime. what nancy pelosi is talking about is a crime some should be reported to law enforcement. members of congress are not above the law. >> laura: isn't that inciting? if you think there is someone among the republican caucus plotting the murder of nancy pelosi or other members of congress, that could then bring policy upon those individuals some we named in the "angle." that's inciting. >> exactly. that's the issue here. if this is a crim falthreat, let law enforcement deal with it -- criminal. if there is no evidence of what she is talking about, it is inciting further division and harm and further destroying the possibility of our country coming together.
7:07 pm
this is why it's so important for nancy pelosi. if these accusations are baseless, she needs to apologize not so much to her colleagues but to the american people who right now more than ever need leadership coming from the speaker of the house who represents all members of congress and the american people to bring us together. for her and president biden to denounce those seeking to undermine our civil liberties and inflaming these tensions. we are all americans and need to come together. >> laura: that would be a nice thought, but it looks like this is stage setting going on. they are setting the stage for okay, because of this threat, we need to either have aggressive gun control or put a wall around
7:08 pm
the capitol. we need more metal detectors in washington. this is a perfect way for them to set that narrative early to justify future encroachment on civil liberties. >> i share your same concern. if that's the motivation behind this, it is not a stretch of the imagination to say that, well, if the party in charge can extend this kind of government overreach and using the military and intelligence agencies against people who hold different views, what is to say the next party that takes charge can't do the same? that leaves us with a banana republic and not a democracy. that's dangerous. >> laura: this cynicism is even affecting republican lawmakers.
7:09 pm
>> tell me what it's like being in the capitol building surrounded by fencing, a war zone, like a green zone type area. >> it's supposed to be the people's house. to have it be walled off because we can't trust that the people won't try to overrun it. >> laura: what happens when government officials stop trusting their own constituents? maybe they need to go into a different line of work >> it's remembering all of us who serve if elected positions we are there to serve the people. not be in a position where our government is viewing the people, the public as the opponent. people who may attack them, as the threat. this is a dangerous thing. it undermines the foundation that our country was built upon and why i continue to call for leadership. we need voices of strong leadership not for one party or

the other but for america. >> laura: yes, for america. thanks for joining us. just this week border patrol confirmed that construction of the southern border wall has been halted which makes this more jarring. on january 7th, a wall was erected around the capitol. this show questioned the need and message of walling off the people's house. the only comfort came in the realization this was temporary. that was giving the democrats too much credit. i warned you it probably would not be. officials are calling on the fence to be permanent and want a back up force of officers to be ever present. while most americans are aghast at seeing this in d.c. the biden team hasn't given it much thought. >> i wonder if the biden white
7:11 pm
house has any thoughts on the fencing? does it project the wrong picture to the american people? >> i am not sure we will have a comment on that specifically. i am happy to talk to our homeland security team if we have anything further to add. >> laura: they won't comment on much at all. joining me now senator rand paul. is this part of something bigger as congresswoman tulsi gabbard and i said future encroachment on civil liberties of the american people? >> it could will be. the army encampment we have now looks like a major army there. it's not a great image. who is making these decisions?
7:12 pm
nancy pelosi and maybe chuck schumer? democrats need to look in the mirror. they assumed the enemy within is the republicans and they are potentially violent. nobody looks in the mirror for the democrats. they are not self-aware. kamala harris said contribute to the freedom fund to bail out protestors. one cracked someone's skull and caused a brain injury because kamala harris was encouraging the bailing out of these violent protestors. no one is calling for her impeachment. maxine waters and cory booker get up in your face. it's a double standard that the enemy within is only republicans and none of the things democrats say is a concern to them. >> laura: we would say bring the troops home.
7:13 pm
now we are saying bring the troops home from washington. kabul and iraq and now bring them back to indiana from washington, d.c. we mentioned the border wall. we have massive amounts of people coming up through central america and other places. how are we concerned about covid if we have no walls on the southern border and walls around the capitol to protect nancy but no walls at the southern border and thousands coming across untested? >> i guess you didn't hear. they are going to give them double masks. >> laura: [laughing]. >> what they are going to do in addition is everyone flying domestically will have to be tested. you talk about devastating the

airline industry. does the biden administration and the nuts on the virus group they want to kill america and try to make us test 3 or 4 times a week. realizing also that the science is not there. if you have no symptoms and you get a rapid test, the error rate is 30 to 40% if you have no symptoms. it's a worthless test. then they won't let you fly without a test domestically. that will kill the economy. >> laura: that has to be challenged in court. another issue with the biden doctrine, he was bragging going into the election he would work with the allies to be tough on china. didn't obama try that and it didn't work? even politico's european outlet

7:29 pm
vaccine is something we will know when it gets here. >> laura: that means again the early interventions with safe anti-virals we should not be discouraging? >> absolutely not. the idea of telling someone when they get sick with covid they should get better on their own or go to the hospital makes no sense. patients want to do something early on an out patient basis and that's reasonable. >> laura: thank you very much. with president trump out of the white house the med has a new obsession. raymond arroyo has it in friday's follies next.

biden signed an action to overturn the trump policy which bans federal funding of abortions abroad. that's why he is coughing. it has nothing to do with healthcare. the taxpayer picking up abortions abroad. 77% of americans oppose that policy. >> laura: but as nancy pelosi has said, they are all devout catholics. jen psaki's spin on this was compelling. >> in terms of executive orders is overturning the immoral actions of the prior administration. >> the trump policy of stopping

abortions abroad was immoral. it's about killing children abroad. for an administration that has been so focussed and worried about separating foreign children from their parents, we are now going to pay as taxpayers to separate foreign children from their parents. i hardly see this as an advance in the agenda. >> laura: the timing is -- why now? >> it comes on the eve of the pro-life march. it's hard for biden to talk about respect for the human person and enact these policies. there was a planned parenthood bailout he signed. >> laura: they get big money. small businesses are struggling and we are paying for abortions abroad. >> you should not worry about
