tv The Ingraham Angle FOX News February 3, 2021 7:00pm-8:00pm PST
7:00 pm
at nine eastern. this show is independent, it will never be like the media mob, spread lies and conspiracy theories, massive hypocrisy and double standards. that's pretty much 99% of the mama bear. let not your heart be troubled, mine is not because laura ingraham takes it from here. >> laura: fantastic show sean, it's always a new sideshow in washington as our borders are being overrun and our economy and the preeminence of the dollar will be in question if we keep going, so let's focus on the sideshow because that is what washington does best. >> you know what, i'm about to be on the edge of my seat. i'm just feeling the percolating monologue about to be coming her way. >> laura: it's get a good glass of cabernet and just sit back. >> i'm thinking and lime. >> laura: sounds good, i will be joining you afterwards. i'm laura ingraham and this is
7:01 pm
"the ingraham angle" from washington tonight. just tonight defense secretary lloyd austin announced each branch of the u.s. military will schedule a 60 day stand-down to allow each service to have "needed discussions on extremism in the ranks." we will talk about this in same course of action with ron desantis and newt gingrich and moments. but first, no ransom for hostage takers. that's the focus of tonight's angle. this week, i reminded why a record number of americans turned out to vote for donald trump in november. like tens of thousands of people would show up at his rallies and wait for hours and extreme heat and bitter cold. they stuck with him during shame impeachments and the mueller investigation. they did all this because to them, he was a lasting standing
7:02 pm
between their families in the left-wing mob. before trump, conservatives had become used to milquetoast establishment republicans whose first instinct is to buckle when criticized in "the new york times" or "washington post." even though it's perfect, donald trump rightly refused to scrape and bow to the nastiest characters inside the boat were the concept of working together. but it's all for show. take for instance the embarrassing episode involving mitt romney and the gang of moderates who trudged up to the white house for their long meeting with biden on covid relief. they were all played for fools. biden took their $600 billion offer and he essentially responded with this classic line from godfather two. >> you can have my ins and outs
7:03 pm
come up my own. there is nothing so much for unity and compromise. trillions more fixed running. on perpetual offense is the only option for conservatives today. trump understood this, and it just plays into your opponent's hands. now notice the democrats never make this mistake. their members can say the most rotten, hateful, incendiary things about america, law enforcement and even other members without so much as trying to get a telephone call from nancy pelosi or chuck schumer. now in ilhan omar's comments were revealed or when she mocked americans for fearing al qaeda and 9/11, were there any repercussions?
7:04 pm
of course not. because democrats always stick together no matter what. it gets even better with biden at the white house, liberal ideologues that become so emboldened that they are not content to manage the affairs of their own party. and they are determined to control the makeup of their own party as well. >> when i've heard from democratic lawmakers, the 9/11 conspiracy theories, it's the endorsement of political violence. >> laura: since january 6th the democrats have felt empowered to pick off republican adversaries on the ground and they are not this point morally fit to have committee positions or in some cases even serve out
7:05 pm
there. >> let's bring up vote to expel ted cruz from the senate. if we have time on our hands we should actually be bringing justice to the members of congress and members of the senate which will also support this infraction. if they don't resign, they should be except comic expelled from senate. speak okay. republican leadership was swatted away, but with congresswoman greene he republicans begin to agonize over whether to boot her or get her off or get her out. at times they seemed like they were dancing to the democrats team. now setting assigned a whacking comic wacky and outlandish things that she said in the past, we have to ask this question. what with the democrats do that if we demanded that maxine drive them out and rashida were to
7:06 pm
impeach the mfer, and were to be removed because of their statements? they were not the only elected democrats that spewed such rhetoric. the democrats have absolutely zero standing to second-guess republican caucus decisions given the failings to police their own nuts. ms. green should be answering to her constituents and them alone. fortunately and now seems clear that republicans will punish one of their own and the democrat hostage takers are not going to do it. the democrats tried to punishment as a green and they will simply underscore their own fanaticism. let the people choose their own leaders if you still believe in them. now the republicans also have to deal with the fact that liz
7:07 pm
cheney who holds a position in house leadership blindsided her caucus on the trump impeachment vote which was widely among the republican press corps. republicans calling for cheney to give up her leadership position failed but that effort wasn't due to democrat pressure but rather it was based on the principle that if you want to lead the republican party, not just any committee but be in a position of leadership. shouldn't help democrats pursue an unconstitutional vendetta. it's telling pelosi and her pests that are protecting liz cheney and going a lot to link ms. green to trump and then to push the impeachment trial conviction. >> there is a spectrum of bad within the g.o.p. it's not just marjorie taylor greene. >> marjorie taylor greene is a symptom of the problem, marjorie taylor greene represents a significant portion of the republican base today.
7:08 pm
>> it's so tied into what they have ahead of them which is an opportunity to convict donald trump for inciting the insurrection at the capitol. they are linked by the violence. >> laura: do you get it? do you see know what's going on? it's not about marjorie taylor greene, they don't care about her. never was. this is always about allowing political opponents to define conservatives back to the free trump good old days, when we turned off blue-collar and working-class voters. nothing would make the democrats happier and discourage republican turnout then replacing a populace g.o.p. with one led by the holdovers from the old bush cheney years. if democrats are successful at picking off one republican congressman they will just move on to the next. they've already got our next guest, no one comic lauren boebert in their sites.
7:09 pm
this is a core native attempt to paint all republicans as the much discussed domestic extremists of their leftist fever dreams. this was nancy pelosi's press release today. she identified kevin mccarthy as a cue from california. she then cited john thune who said the house has decided to make itself the party of qui qanon.if you are concerned, picp the phone and have a private conversation, don't run to the opposition with the press, don't feel the left narrative. it only undermines your party, weakens your power and handicaps whatever agenda you think you are advancing. and that is the angle. joining me now is a republican who democrats have in their heart cross hairs, colorado congresswoman lauren boebert. you were singled out by the head of the democratic congressional campaign committee as being
7:10 pm
next. your response tonight? >> i have been on their list since the day i announced and it isn't a surprise to me. with kind of a game of whack a mole at this point, so you kind of not one down and three more pop up. but i'm encouraged because i know that the dccc is terrified of what this freshman class is doing, where the republican party is going and the momentum that is still behind us in 74 million americans, and i'm proud to be part of this. i'm honored to be the first woman to represent the people of colorado's third district, the first mom that has been sent to washington, d.c., to be their voice. and so the dccc can throw whatever they want at me. it's not going to stick, i will keep walking down the moles and you are right. we can't just keep republicans to the dccc on the democratic party. >> laura: i just want to make this very clear to everyone
7:11 pm
watching now. we have to translate washington to the rest of the country every night. it's not about you, or congresswoman greene, that's about everyone connected and that means that the third of the republican party or the third of the country that still supports the idea is. it's about ideas, that's what they want to brand as racist or white supremacist even though they are quite popular around various minority groups. >> laura, you are absolutely right. this is a movement that the democrats can't seem to stop, they've spent millions of dollars trying to see that. it exposed their portfolio and want to hold one another
7:12 pm
accountable, they never want to stand on their own and be accountable for their own positions. the democratic party is a party of canceled culture and that's a pillar of the democratic party. when you have alexandria ocasio-cortez accusing senator cruz of murdering her or comparing congressman chip roy's actions to a abuser, this is ridiculous and someone at some time needs to hold them accountable. and maybe it's the freshman class. >> laura: the media loves to trot out former congressman who don't actually have to answer to constituents anymore. like the never trumper charlie dan. and he thinks he has a way of saving the g.o.p. >> the party needs to make a clean break from trump and i would argue that clean break from trump with all its ugly populism, we need to empower adam kinzinger and those who want a new direction to the party that is much more socially
7:13 pm
tolerant and constructively engaged on the international and domestic stage. >> laura: oh, my god, to comfort hair hurts. congresswoman is this with the party needs? >> i certainly didn't come here to oppose republicans, not that's not the fight that i was sent here to be part of and so my agenda is taking back the house in 2022 and representing the people of colorado. but i don't see the republican party going away from this america first agenda. that's what motivated me to get to washington, d.c. i have four children, i know the conservative values are what leads them to a free and and a prosperous life. they are terrified of me and people like me. i grew up in an democratic home dependent on democratic policies and they failed me. they led me to stand in line for government she is. while because the government during the still available and in washington, d.c., fighting to make sure that no one else ever has to do that. >> laura: they are afraid of
7:14 pm
you. you are optimistic, young and a new and they want to scare you. it sounds like they are not doing a very good job of it. congresswoman, thank you so much. of course the left smears against members of congress and they would be so effective if it wasn't for big tech. silicon valley isn't just a bunch of start-ups but massive monopolistic corporations that are in total lockstep with the democrats. with congress' failure to act to rein them in, florida governor ron desantis wants state laws to hold big tech accountable. in a new proposal, he says if a tech company d platforms, a florida candidate for elected office during election company will take a daily fine of $500,000 until the candidates access to governor desantis joins me now. you see what's going on with these moves to censor and cancel and threaten members of the g.o.p. with every manner of defamation, but how is big tech
7:15 pm
and your fight for fairness he related? >> if you go back ten years, big tech or some of these platforms were liberating for conservatives because it gave us a way to go around the legacy corporate media which obviously we have distrusted for a long time. but what's happened over the last particularly for five years is that they have turned from liberating platform into enforcers of the preferred narrative. and so they are colluding with some of those failed legacy outlets to try to enforce this prescribed her narrative and this obviously means they have a lot of conservatives that get left out on that. so what we are trying to do in florida is a few things. we believe in people's privacy on the way they manipulate data as a problem and we do want to provide a broader platform for just the average floridian so we are allowing them to sue big
7:16 pm
tech under that power unfair and deceptive trade practices act. i think it's a good framework and i think it will bring some common sense to what clearly are ultra-powerful oligarchies that i don't think it has proven to be good for the country. >> laura: your state agon consumer services commissioner said i believe where they are today is more than i knee-jerk reaction, and this is definitely something that needs to go on the federal side. we waited for the feds to act. but they have done nothing. >> yeah, no. the florida election, this is something that we do. we have our own election code and if you were to host a party for a candidate, that would be considered some type of contribution so why should big tech be able to totally at the
7:17 pm
platform someone? and then that not count? and of course you have the run-of-the-mill floridians, people that have small businesses, they are looking at what happened to parler and other people who have been canceled. can big texts shut down their access, payment processing and their email, all the stuff? i don't think this is something five or ten years ago that we would have thought was possible so i think these protections are warranted and they will appreciate having them. >> laura: long overdue. i need to get to the breaking news tonight that biden's defense secretary lloyd austin has ordered a military wide pause today in order to "address the kind of extremism within the ranks that was thrust into the public view on january 6th. i think you have give or take about 17 or so military installations in your state. this sounds like a coming purge
7:18 pm
of traditionalists in the military, how offensive is this. >> i think it's offensive to suggest that our active-duty sailors and marines and airmen, they are patriots and wear the uniform proudly. when our national guard was asked to go up to d.c. they wanted to look at some of their beliefs and we would let them do that. so we will have to see what this means but i can tell you, we got a lot of great folks on our active-duty and i think we would have to view them with suspicion. and that's not something i would support. >> laura: i would have to say that your state which i spent a lot of time and has not only managed the virus well compared to so many of the other states are locked down for way too long but your economy is also way better off. people should understand is about florida. they have an unemployment rate of 6.1% compared to 2.1 in
7:19 pm
new york and 9% in california and yet the pressure on you, std keep restaurants closed, all start of other mandates were significant. you have an enormous amount of grief. why did you stick to your guns? >> the job of a leader is to take on the grief in order to save people's jobs, to get kids back in school and really to ultimately save a lot of lives. one, the virus response is more effective when it's targeted at the vulnerable population which we did do aggressively. i also think we saved the livelihoods of so many people, i think you will have less suicide deaths and less drug abuse deaths, less death and despair in florida because we were open and i think a lot of the lock down or is lost sight of that. we are less than the national average of per capita covert mortality, 25 states are higher
7:20 pm
than us but our unemployment rate is much less than the national average. we have kids in school and in december we had $330 million more in revenue than was projected because people are coming here and they understand florida is open in a place they can pursue their dreams. sleep on it you are now being called one of the free states in the united states. south dakota, florida, texas and a few others, lots of people wanting to move to the free states. great to see you tonight. in moments we exposed to the left's newfound yet hollow appreciation for law enforcement, plus newt gingrich response for the latest idea of turning our national security apparatus against americans. stay there.
7:25 pm
>> laura: we watched with interest as the democrats attempted to display this newfound appreciation for law enforcement today. but where is the true north star on the issue? we have to remember what their core supporters think on law enforcement, because they need to be abolished and the ranks are filled with a bunch of racists which may explain this odd joe biden remark today. >> laura: he's reading those
7:26 pm
cards there. so, why say that? like 99.9%, not vast majority. he isn't, and after all he sponsors the 94th prineville but i think his slip of the tongue there is slipping from pressure. take for instance the biden state department new spokeswoman angelina porter. she wrote in a 2016 facebook post the largest threat to u.s. national security are u.s. cops. not cops or hackers. she also remarked the pain she
7:27 pm
expressed at the time was real. now joe biden and his entire party are trying to reckon with this uncomfortable pardon. blm riots were raging across the country, and if police were targeted in the mayhem, so be it. did you know that 2020 was one of the deadliest years for law enforcement officers on record? the national law enforcement officers memorial fund found that 264 officers died in the line of duty last year, the highest since 1974. so until we see the concern among democrats, and the left, over violence like that year-round, the fleeting admiration for cops will ring hollow. in light of the repeated calls from democrats and the media to weaponize our national security apparatus against the american people, we are interest to mike introducing a segment on the "te ingraham angle," target america,
7:28 pm
turning their sights on you. we are not just talking about mass surveillance. the latest idea from former cia counterterrorist chief rob groner is even more disturbing. >> the most violent elements that we are concerned about right now, we see former president trump as a broadly popular and charismatic symbol. so long as he is there in leading the resistance, he will be an inspiration to very violent people. after 9/11 there weren't that many members of al qaeda in afghanistan. the thrust of our campaign there was, yes. to hunt down al qaeda. but primarily to remove the supportive environment and that is the heart of what we need to deal with here. >> laura: here to respond, newt gingrich.
7:29 pm
newt, al qaeda, donald trump, removing the atmosphere, the support structure. what is this? what will >> i think the most accurate way to summarize all this is, these people are insane. it's not a political debate or an ideological debate. first of all if you are in a country where antifa has been occupying parts of portland for 130 days, if you are in a country where all of us watched violence across the whole country last summer by black lives matter and antifa and those left-wing groups, then you have a guy like this get on and compare supporters of donald trump with al qaeda suggests the techniques used in afghanistan and use them instead in albany, new york, or albany, georgia, this is sick. i think we need to understand this is not politics, this is pathology. these are people who are so deeply anti-american.
7:30 pm
we can't build a wall on the south to protect the united states from foreigners but we will build a fence around the u.s. capitol to protect the capital from americans. now what kind of mind-set thanks you have to have a fence around the capital against americans but of course, walls don't work. therefore you don't want a wall on the south. we deal with all of this much to rationally. i say this is a former speaker of the house. the democrats are about to do in the house, if they move and they decided republican members committee assignments, they have destroyed two centuries of tradition and when the republicans take over as they will in 2023, i hope they will insist that every democrat apply to the republicans for their committee assignments and not a single one gets an assignment. this is madness. what pelosi is doing is madness. and i use these words deliberately, these are not political problems, these are deeply psychological problems of the level of anger and hate that
7:31 pm
is way beyond anything we could discuss. >> laura: they hate anything approaching an american tradition, you've written about this and we've been talking about this for years. not necessarily traditional, but he nevertheless represents a traditional outlook about american greatness. they have to wipe that away and so it's all white supremacy. it's all marjorie taylor greene, all insurrection on the capital. nothing good ever comes out of anything to do with american greatness. that's what they are doing here. i think it's methodical. it's insane but it's methodical. >> it is. this is a deliberate war against everybody whose views would be considered traditionally american. and consider, they have on the intelligence committees somebody who the fbi has told them at a multiyear relationship with the chinese communists five.
7:32 pm
now that's not really a problem because after all, china is not a bad country but you have to realize these people operate in a different universe. what happened was i think trump scared them and for the first time they saw all of their dreams and all their hopes disappearing and their reaction has been one of ferocity, which i find frightening. and i worry for anybody who is openly, publicly in favor of traditional america because you don't know what the left is going to do. >> laura: newt, the accuracy of the congressman's at the emotional testimony about the capital riots and the insurrection is being called into question with aoc's comments about how scared and frightened as she was, and i'm not going to question whether she was scared or frightened. but it seems to all be of a piece that republicans are dangerous. it's not the people who
7:33 pm
breach -- it's all republicans are dangerous. so deeply forming them, because they are all racist, who's against deplatforming a racist? >> it also starts with the premise that somebody on the left can say anything that's in that he and they are at least at least given initial credence and we are told to believe it. you can look at case after case where things turn out not to be true. but for a long stretch, the media treats them as true and i think aoc is a perfect example. i have no idea what's true, i don't know what she thinks is true and i have no idea what she's saying just for effect. not just about this but about cross the whole board. i think we have to recognize this is a very serious moment in american history. >> laura: we didn't even get into the military pause to examine the ranks for extremism,
7:34 pm
which we learned about tonight. they are pausing, whatever that means, military operations to search for extremism. that's what our defense secretary is doing, unbelievable. newt gingrich, thank you so much. as i said at congresswoman alexandria because it is is very riveting online testimony about what she felt that they have the capital riot has now been challenged. raymond arroyo will join us and he has all the specifics, "seen and unseen," next.
7:39 pm
7:40 pm
of those at home zoom cooking segments. >> laura, aside from "the crown" or maybe "hamilton," nobody is looking forward to it. this is what happens when you shut things down, no more shared movie touchstones. there was one step that we have to rectify before the emmys and the oscars are announced and it's this instagram so that may have gotten more viewers than all those netflix nominees for best lead actor in a political drama, alexandria ocasio-cortez in "insurrection day" is going to be hard to beat. >> there is these men, or just one man going, where is she, where is she? i see this white man bump open the door to my personal office and yell again, where is she?
7:41 pm
i'm like -- i don't know, so deeply rattled. i come out and this man is a capital police officer. >> a police officer. the drama never ends, this entire miniseries is designed to keep this capital seizure in the forefront of people's minds, ratchet up impeachment pressure. that's the intention there. the truth is, she was in no danger at all on january 6. the rioters broke into the capital or, she was all the way at the cannon office building which was like two blocks away. look at the map. none of this make sense. she wants tweeted that the whole point of protesting is to make people uncomfortable, but when he makes her uncomfortable, it's a problem. >> laura: she should do voice-over work, she is quite dramatic. she's got a flair for it.
7:42 pm
not bad. great nomination. and for best supporting office to make actress in a continuing political drama, i'd have to nominate congresswoman katie porter who picked up where aoc left off. >> she was wearing heels and every member her saying to me -- i was wearing flats and i remember her saying to me, i knew i shouldn't have worn heels, how am i going to run? and i went and found a pair of sneakers for her from one of my staffers so she could run if she'd literally needed to run for her life. >> congresswoman nancy mays tweeted out, i'm two doors down from aoc's office, no insurrection has come in our hallway. there was no danger at all. this is the kind of craziness that everyone is engaging in, we all have to bring the temperature down. aside from major holidays, the super bowl is an event that americans traditionally shared together. but before you break out the guacamole and the jerseys,
7:43 pm
dr. fauci says, not so fast. >> watch the super bowl on tv, enjoy it, have a party in your house with your family. don't go to parties that you haven't had much contact with. as difficult as that is at least this time around, just lay low and cool it. >> do you understand any of this? infections are down 44%, i have a group of people i know that are all vaccinated, why can't they get together in a backyard and watch the super bowl? >> laura: maybe we will have a super bowl in 2027, that's a maybe. and the rose parade in 2026, that's about it. what else? >> joe biden's justice department today, and this is news, it supposed to be committed to racial equality. they dropped a trump air supreme court lawsuit challenging admission discrimination against asian students at yale university. that didn't come up at all in
7:44 pm
joe biden's first white house interview. he did it today and he did take time to discuss his marriage. with "people" magazine. it's tonight's marquee malarkey. >> bunch of malarkey! >> president biden: i got criticized for saying this a while ago but they asked me a couple of years ago. she comes down the steps and it still goes a boom, boom, boom. we were in sitting getting ready for the interview, it was dark in the room and the executive office building at a reporter looked in and she said, everybody says you and your wife have a great love affair. and i said i think so but everyone knows i love her more than she loves me and she looked at me and said, that's what everybody says. that's what everybody says, it was great. >> why is that funny? no wonder jill biden war that faced throughout the whole puff
7:45 pm
piece. the president is not making sense here and you see how heavily edited this is. remember when people did that romantic piece on the trump rose garden? >> laura: yes, that was very meaningful because it never happened. raymond, untouched by that. i'm going to compose myself. we have to take a break, still getting over these golden globe nominations. it's been over a year since china unleashed covid on the world and the evidence is pointing to a lab leak and its mounting. my next guest is an advisor to w.h.o. and he is here to tell us the latest about what he has learned.

>> and the outbreak it was clear that there was some modeling of information but over the last several weeks the chinese authorities have been very explicit that they are not going to tolerate any misinformation going out. >> laura: so you are satisfied with all of the transparency coming out of china today about the trajectory of the disease on the origin of the disease? >> in my direct interaction with chinese scientists and the chinese health officials, i can believe what they are telling me. >> laura: that was almost a
7:51 pm
year ago. what has happened since? well can you trust the chinese government and what it saying? we have people on the ground there now from the w.h.o. who are supposedly investigating all this and having access to all these experts but it took until today for a w.h.o. team to finally have access to the wuhan virology institute. all evidence points to a lab leak. and joining me now is the atlantic council sr. fellow and w.h.o. advisor. jamie, china's saying, giving access, they are all for transparency. is this too little, too late a year later? >> it certainly too little and i hope not too late but china has been covering up and hiding information for more than a year. we have to get to the bottom of how covid began because until we do we are all at a terrible
7:52 pm
risk. it's great that the w.h.o. team is in china but we need to be really demanding. the core need is a full and unrestricted forensic investigation and we have to hold everybody speak to that fire including china and the w.h.o. >> laura: but doesn't china have outside influence in the w.h.o.? i mean an enormous amount of money and enormous amount of power, money and power buys influence. not trying to cast aspersions on anybody. but a lot of people that you and i both know that all evidence points to a gain of function research that was being done to find a new coronavirus vaccination that went awry. and it leaked out of that lab. and it was all covered up. >> i've been saying that for more than a year now so we have to apply logic to figure out what happened. certainly there is still a possibility that there were a series of animal to animal zoonotic jumps in the wild, but
7:53 pm
it's highly coincidental, it would be highly coincidental that all of all the gin joints and all the towns in all the world that we had a bad kronos coronavirus outbreak near the research facility. we need to have this kind of full and unrestricted investigation. and you are right, the w.h.o. is compromised. the w.h.o. wasn't able to call the alarm early enough and wasn't able to send its investigators to china early enough. we also have to ask the question of all of that. we also have to depend on this particularly powerful china and the united states. so w.h.o. couldn't have its own surveillance network. i'm not saying that w.h.o. was perfect, it definitely wasn't but we need to fix this problem
7:54 pm
by understanding what happened in china and what are the flaws of w.h.o. that w.h.o. itself recognizes. not just for cobe aid but for all we know, there's an even worse pandemic all around the corner. >> laura: have you ever figured out why the obama administration suspended the hold on gain of function research funding? >> actually the obama administration created the hold and the trump administration removed it and it's a very important point. this research is highly controversial, lots of scientists around the world who believe in it. >> laura: we will have to continue that conversation jamie but thank you so much, good to see you tonight. when we come back, the last bite.
7:56 pm
7:59 pm
8:00 pm
>> how do you compare with what's happening in washington today? >> we are here to celebrate values. >> how many cups of coffee a day? >> half. >> mr. vice president, how you doing? >> good. >> mr. president, you've been aspiring for this office for your whole career. what does this feel like? >> laura: what do they have in common with a cavalier king charles spaniel? lap dog. shannon? >> republican congress woman liz cheney keeps her number three leadership position and the vote isn't even close. minority leader kevin mccarthy pleaded with republicans to move past the vote to peach former president trump which had enraged some her
