impeachment managers today, and bring you disturbing new details about the downfall of the anti-trump group the lincoln project. our guest tonight says it'sal worse than what is being reported. who had a two our phone call with president xi?o joe biden. mike pompeo will tell us what that means.om but first, the house impeachment managers percent of their final argument against former president trump today and they close their case by inventing a totally new and arbitrary standard of guilt. >> president trump's lack of remorse and refusal to take accountability during the attack shows his state of mind, it shows he intended the events of january 6th to happen, to sit back and watch and delight as insurrectionist's attack us.
11:02 pm
>> he reacted exactly the way someone would react if they were delighted. >> laura: that was just one example of their dramatic, olympic leaps in logic. they sliced together footage of trump talking about a g.o.p. house candidate body slamming a reporter in 2018 and then a scene from charlottesville a year earlier. f >> any guy that can do a body slam, he's my guy. [shouting] [shouting "jews will not replace us"] >> laura: they would've gotten left out of any courtroom presented that as evidence. democrats have once again undermined their own efforts. did any democrats show remorse

for the violent inauguration protests they fomented with their language? what about the democrats who openly supported and encouraged black lives matter? are they sorry for all the destruction and the fallout from all of that? even with all of these novel legal arguments, it's pretty clear that senators have made up their minds and are waiting and waiting and waiting forr the end of class. >> clearly there is a sense of fatigue among the jurors, some are not paying attention, florida senator rick scott appeared to have a map of asia in front of them and appeared to be writing in the names of the countries in asia. senator bernie sanders appeared to beti dozing off. >> laura: i can't blame bernie at all, jonah me now is mark meadows, former chief of staff under president trump.
11:04 pm
your thoughts on today's clothes from the democrats. >> it was more creative license on the part of the democrat house managers. we saw it yesterday with michael lee, where they took some of his statements out of context and tried to spin them as the truth. they did more of the same today, for them to really come to the conclusion that were not based on facts but based on their belief of what they think he might have meant at a particular time, it's just wrong. you hit it exactly right when you started to talk about this president throughout the summer continued to push and a stand oa the side of law enforcement as he does tonight where he was trying to send in the national guard to make sure all the rioting that was going on, that it actually was quelled. he did the same thing on january the 6th, he didn't delay at all and so for them to put forth this narrative that's not based on fact is a sad day. >> laura: i'm going to ask a
11:05 pm
simple question, at any time does the president of the united states want to or seek to interfere with the vote counting of legitimate votes in the selection? >> absolutely not. all we wanted was legitimate votes to be counted and candidly, he's articulated that a number of times. even more importantly than that, when we start to look at the standard that democrats are trying to put forward to impeach the president of the united states, donald trump, who is now a private citizen, they are putting forth a standard that actually doesn't hold up. should we impeach kamala harris for bailing out people who weres put in jail who rioted over the summer? should we impeach bernie sanders because someone shot up a baseball field with republicans on it? absolutely not and here's what we've got to understand. at this particular time, the democrats embarked on the fastest impeachment in the

history of our country for one purpose.e. it was a political purpose, designed to make us relive the day we all condemn, we all view it as a horrific day, but it's not anything that should be tried in the impeachment of the president isde not guilty. >> laura: one of the big things they push today and yesterday was the president didn't immediately come out on camera and immediately tweet "go home, stop this, this is horrible what's happening, it's not what we are about." why didn't he? >> we took immediate action, one of the things that has not been not yet is the fact that only the president wanted to make sure everybody was safe but
11:07 pm
he literally, at the very first said we need to make sure they have the resources. that is not being told, the fact that he wanted ourer national guard to be on the ready for any civil unrest that might be there. he tweeted out a number of things as we were looking at some of this unfold, what we now know happened actually was not as graphic as was laid out over the last couple of days. twe were seeing bits and snippets, he condemned it and wanted to make sure we respected law and order and was very forceful in that. >>in laura: what's his state of mind having heard or watched any of this unfold to the extent that he's watching any of it? >> it's the natural response, the democrats wanted to impeach the president before he was president, they wanted to impeach him the first year he was president, the second, theea third, the fourth, and now they want to impeach him after he's left office.
11:08 pm
i think most of america and indeed the 45th president of the united states sees it for what it is, this is the political action taken by overzealous democrats trying to draw blood and put their will in place of 75 million people that showed up to vote for president donald trump on november 3rd to. >> laura: listen to this claim from the house impeachment manager. >> it t wasn't rhetorical, he already made it perfectly clear when he said to fight, he meant it and when followers in fact fought, when they engaged in violence, he praised and honored them as patriots. >> laura: he also told his supporters to be peaceful, very clearly peaceful and patriotic. >> peaceful and patriotic -- it
11:09 pm
wasn't words that actually wereo uttered on january 6th that had somebody placing pipe bombs on january 5th, you just can't have that and so the disconnect in the logic that is put forth -- it doesn't pass the smell test and i can tell you that if we look at this president and the actions that he took not just on january 6th but throughout the summer, he stands on the side of law enforcement, wanted to make sure the rule of law is upheld and that continues to be where he is today. >> laura: great to see you, thanks much for joining us tonight. now, the democrats about face, that's the focus of tonight's angle. during the last impeachment, the media found in anti-trump white knight and congressmanan adam schiff, him and his band of impeachment managers would finally slay the great orange
11:10 pm
man and of course they failed. the media has anointed a new hero. >> impeachment manager jamie raskin delivered a powerful argument. >> he was the leadok today and spoke so movingly and so compellingly. >> i think everyone was sobbing listening to that presentation. >> have you ever seen an opening argument quiteas like the way te democrats began today? >> it was powerful. >> laura: it's certainly true that raskin, a very well respected constitutional law professor knows how to put on the most a convincing case possible witht the available evidence and he did so only six weeks after suffering a heart breaking personal tragedy but let's not lose sites after whatt is happening here, the democratic party and its media allies are using the dramatic events of january 6th in an effort to discredit everyone who supported president trump.
11:11 pm
this is politics but they want you to believe they are motivated solelyie by a noble desire to save our constitution from mob rule. >> public official swears an oath that nobody else swears, he attacked the constitution, betrayed his oath of office claiming the election was stolen and inciting insurrectionary action. >> laura: that sounds reassuring but in fact congressman raskin like many other democrats in congress didn't defend the election results in 2016, in fact, he strongly argued that the 2016 election was not legitimate. >> i have an objection because ten of the 29 votes were cast by electors not lawfully certified. we have intelligence agencies saying there was a consciousav campaign directed by vladimir putin to undermine hillary clinton, to benefit donald trump. donald trump is the hoax perpetrated on americans by the russians which at least has some facts behind t it.
11:12 pm
>> laura: wow. if he really believed what the top democrats were alleging, without proof, that you thought trump was not legitimately elected and he wasn't really your president at all. this vicious campaign against president trump in cited rage among the voters. for five years, the haters had carte blanche to accuse the president of just about any hateful thing imaginable without any evidence whatsoever. now democrats including congressman raskin claimed that incendiary and accusatory words can be harmful trump's speech and a bunch of tweets set off a toxic brushfire of violence. raskin pointed to trump's use of the phrase "you've got to fight like" at that january 6th rally, but in fact, raskin used the same offensive and incendiary phrase in speeches urging theet opposition to a duly elected president, president trump.
11:13 pm
including the time he used it to whip up a massive crowd in the d.c. suburbs shortly after trump took office where he said we need to wake upp every day and fight like for liberal democracy, not just in maryland and not just the united states but all over the world. fight like hell, how long until he read news of his impeachment trial? in the aftermath of the riots, he wants america to believe he stands with and is here to protect law enforcement. it might seem credible except for the fact that two years ago he took to the house floor toth oppose removal of the painting in the house of congress to train as pigs.
11:14 pm
>> i think the majority should really rethink whether it wants to be in the business of censorship. people have a right to paint thb painting that they want, if you don't like the painting, you goo to the next painting. >> this while he defended the blm and antifa arsonists torching cities like portland on a nightly basis, even calling portland police trying to tamp down on the violence of banana republic style secret police unit. once again in portland, the federal law enforcement presence was dangerous but on january 6th, it was necessary because congress was being protected, protecting congress good to come a people of portland, businesses that are not so much. meanwhile as he does his social justice grandstanding his own congressional district is a complete mess.

11:16 pm
leveling insane accusations against the president for years and now they turn around and bash trump's rhetoric as incendiary and even dangerous? >> when you look at all of the different things that were said by democrats through the summer of love as they called it, mostly peaceful protest where cities were getting burned down, cops weree being murdered left and right. violence of any kind needs to be decried, i don't know of anybodb on our side that was okay with january 6th, i called it out myself, so many others have too. the difference is during the summer when we were calling out that violence that was happening in all of the cities with antifa and all of the democrat officials encouraging them to do it and saying they would bail people out if they were arrested in part of those mobs, i didn'ta hear that outrage by the democrats. you can't have this double
