allowed into ports of entry, brownsville, your city being one of them and start being allowed into the united states yesterday but then the department of homeland security papas on that. can you explain what is going on? >> a lot of it is logistics and trying to figure out a plan and coordinating with border cities. my understanding is san diego, el paso and brownsville, that might change, we will see some more individual starting tomorrow but just coordinating logistics, making sure the cities are set up for it and coordinating shelter space as necessary, making sure we are all on the same page. todd: there is a human element, in addition to the logistic element, julio spoke to some migrants about what they were expecting when they decided to make this journey. >> on friday i spoke to many

migrants who were confused because they were under the impression it would be easier for them to come into the united states. one woman specifically stated biden's campaign promise to hold deportation for 100 days, the deputy sheriff says they've seen an increase not just in trafficking, human trafficking, that is the consequence of having softer rhetoric on immigration. todd: julio took the expectation part from those migrants. as the mayor of a border town i want to ask about the focus on narcotics and human trafficking. dealing with something like that you had to deal with in the past but they are expecting a lot of individuals coming across the border to your town. >> we expect a few coming in. our capacity in brownsville and mcallen, dealing with us in 2018-19, capacity on a daily

basis, when you are talking about expectations you have to assume these folks coming over for opportunity, narcotics and human trafficking, that has been the case as long as it has been going on. the administration is looking at doing more legwork in mexico or central america where individuals are coming from, the trafficking or elements. jillian: how do you feel about the remain in mexico policy? it was credited with cutting down on the number of illegal immigrants that would cross into the united states, you would have to wait in mexico while

your asylum claim is processed and president biden and did that. what are your thoughts on that? >> the reasoning for it, we saw the numbers go down quite a bit, the remain in mexico program came in, we saw those numbers and a lot of issues across the border as well. i'm close to the mayor of our neighbor city and it did create a lot of issues for them and those individuals who have been waiting for a year or more trying to get a court date, covid-19 didn't help anything but it has become a border crisis for us in the neighboring country, we did see numbers go down under the mvp, we are hoping the individuals who start coming over, we are seeing a more compassionate approach to it but there are some factors we want to make sure are taken care of. like you mentioned earlier, make sure the individuals that are coming are coming over for opportunity and not any other

reason and some of the administration policies that will be forthcoming are looking at eliminating a lot of those issues before these individuals come over, we are dealing with a public health emergency on the border certainly and that is a concern for us. todd: we appreciate your time, we know you have a lot to worry about, you mentioned the public health emergency, the situation at the border complicates that but we appreciate you taking the time to share your story and explain what you are doing. carley: senator lindsey graham has this warning for democrats about president biden's immigration policy. >> the policies of the biden administration on immigration makes 0 sense. they will restart the caravans, they dismantled border security that was working, they changed policies, remain in mexico that kept people from taking advantage of our asylum laws and

pete joins me along with the president of the combined law-enforcement association of texas. i was surprised when i heard these details, you are a member of the el paso county sheriffs association, pretty important group of people and facebook all of a sudden removed your page without warning, what happened? >> a week ago, valentine's day, the fourteenth, i'm getting texts from members asking me what happened to our page, i went on there and the page was down, no idea why. we got one message from facebook saying we violated community standards, there was no -- that is very broad and that is where we are now. we don't know what happened. there is absolutely nothing on

spent. that doesn't keep the democrats from shoving in billions of dollars for schools that are locked down. then the money going to states. they have it set up in the bill that the money would specifically go to democrat states that expanded medicaid. as you know that issue talked about years ago, states like florida we didn't expand medicaid because it didn't think it was appropriate for our state. the states that did, democrat run states, they will get more money for bail out. $300 billion under the covid package. they can spend it on anything they want. not just on covid. carley: the way the bill is written states severely shut down, like california and wait a second, florida and south dakota managed crisis better. why are they getting penalized? other people say maybe state and local governments don't need money in the all in the massive bill to cut down the price. what is your take?
