3:02 am
a u.s. service member and iraq forces in green zone didn't get anybody. evidently this group is a group called the blood brigade and we don't know, we are going by some reports that 17 were dead. it looks like we dropped 7 jay-dams and also interesting that we responded to an attack in iraq against iranian militia groups located in syria. evidently joe biden was given a series of targets, this was a range of options they say. this is one of the most limited responses chosen but goes to show you that at least you attack our people you will get hicked back. steve: so they killed one of our u.s. contractors and another military member of the u.s. armed force was injured so it was payback time. so what is ironic, however, is when you take a look, okay, so

we struck a target in syria, right? back in 2017 the trump administration launched air strikes against syria in retaliation for assad gassing their own people. at the time, jen psaki, four years ago tweeted this. also what is the legal authority for strikes, assad is a brutal dictator but syria is a sovereign country. and after -- after she tweeted that and it was then four years later looked at, ainsley, a lot of people said, oh, i remember that and they retweeted her tweet. they said, great tweet. i look forward to you condemning joe biden's illegal strikes in your press conference tomorrow. i don't think that's going to happen. ainsley: we remember seeing those images of the children and the women and the men that were killed in that attack. this is joe biden in a tweet back in october -- it was october 16th, 2019. he said i will be discussing donald trump's recent actions in

syria and how his impulsive decisions endangered our troops and made us all less safe and makes it political, back it wasn't okay and now it is. brian: assad is as bad as anybody as we had in the modern world. how he's allowed to stay in power after the brutal way he treated his own people is unbelievable and sad statement on society today. anything bad that happens to his forces and the militias that he allows to take root there is good news for the world. steve: as we have pointed out, when donald trump it, it was the end of the world but when joe biden did it it was great for the world. we report, you decide. let's turn to washington, d.c. where the house is expected to vote later today and pass $1.9 trillion relief bill later on today. griff jenkins joins us live with more on that and griff, there's one problem and that's the

senate and apparently unlike a lot of washington, they have rules. >> that's right, steve, ainsley, brian, good morning. i think it's goodnight irne, ,elizabeth saying it does not qualify under reconciliation rules, but has not deterred the president from moving forward. >> the only way to contain the pandemic and help the american people as quickly as possible is passing the plan as quickly as possible. griff: speaker pelosi disappointed and ignoring the senate parliamentarian saying, house democrats believe the mine mum wage hike is necessary therefore revision will remain in the american rescue plan on the floor tomorrow. also in the bill 1,400-dollar stimulus checks, 400-dollar weekly unemployment benefits and 100 million for rapid transit expansion.
3:06 am
pelosi's decision, guys, complicates matters which means the senate will have to strip the minimum wage provision and then whatever they pass goes back to the house and keep in mind they are on a deadline because unemployment benefits expire march 14th, senate majority leader chuck schumer wouldn't happy about the decision, but says, quote, we are not going to give up the fight to raise the minimum wage to $15 to help millions of struggling american workers and their families and here is what to watch. after the house passes the bill with minimum wage at some point today and the senate trips it and sends it back, what the house progressives do is interesting because pelosi can only lose 5 democrats and enough rebolted because it does not have minimum wage, it would end first major legislative loss. ainsley: bernie sanders says he strongly disagrees with what the parliamentarian did taking off the men male wage hike. aoc said be glad we didn't ask

3:08 am
simple majority, reconciliation and not get the 60 votes as if it has to do with an economic issue and this is not one of them. it does not fit the criteria. i think it's a gift to democrats and jon because it wasn't going to pass. kristin and joe manchin weren't going to vote for it. listen, i wasn't going to vote for it but now they got rid of the minimum wage and now i have some cover. this is so easy to compromise. this would have been such a lay-up to compromise, they had done 3 rescue bills and they got the majority of votes in the senate. you come in with another rescue bill even though you passed one in december and you say, okay, they had a bunch of so-called moderate, the republican senators go visit joe biden at the white house. they said, listen, i got 680 billion, i could get on board with that. he's at 1.9 trillion. you go ahead and streamline some of those things. the republicans come up a little and he comes down a little and all of a sudden tensions start ratcheting up and the problem is it doesn't address the pandemic.
3:09 am
it's in your face to people that say -- this is a rescue bill, it's an emergency. why do you need a bridge in new york and why do you need a tunnel in san francisco and why do you need money of adjustments for native americans in the country. that doesn't belong in this and now they are going to come back right after that and they are going to say we need an infrastructure bill, well, didn't we give you infrastructure. can you keep things in categories. this is money in a credit card. it's not matter of being benevolent and putting money on another generation you haven't met yet. steve: the senate says it's not going to happen and nancy pelosi will pass it out of the house so every democratic member can say, look, i passed this and the senate screwed up. what apparently is happening behind the scenes is there's so much progressive liberal pressure on mr. schumer, the majority leader, sounds like they are saying, you have to get rid of the filibuster or we will have to come back with a plan b
3:10 am
and the plan b, bernie sanders is suggesting that they could rewrite it so that what would happen is they would jack up taxes on big corporations that don't pay the minimum wage and so that would be a way to get around it. will that happen, stay tune. brian: by the way there's another compromise. the republicans agreed to 11-dollar minimum wage. can you compromise on that and see how it goes after a year and maybe go back and put it to 15? cosco did it yesterday. everyone thinks it should come up. steve: meanwhile, let's talk about in new york state. the governor andrew cuomo is no more -- in more hot water. the attorney general latisha james is considering request to launch an independent probe of the claims that lindsey boling, one of the former advisers to governor cuomo that he kissed her on the lips and said let's

stubborn schools that will not open to get on board with joe biden to try to reopen the schools within 100 days. i think this is a blatant attempt to say, hey, look, the science is on the side of opening the schools, folks, open the schools and this is from "the new york times". ainsley: yeah, well good. i hope it does start the conversation among the people who -- who are closing the schools and continuing to keep them close. he also cited, the science, and you allude today this, cdc, british medical journal and studies have shown in-person schooling doesn't impose risk to students or teachers. he also talks about worsening the achievement gap between the wealthier children and those from low-income families because the wealthier kids, some of them are now sending kids to private schools because they are open and the internet service at their houses might be up and working but not at the homes that are in poor communities. brian: every line was important. it was researched and it was
