just recently, january 20 fifth 2021. in florida there was no statewide lockdown, some local areas did as an example. miami-dade close restaurants march 17th, 2020, they were love to reopen indoor dining at 50% capacity starting september 2nd but i can tell you i was in florida, you keep hearing life is kind of normal down there and it surprised me when i went down there to see how the restaurant industry was bustling and california, our first night there we couldn't even, this is a true story, we couldn't find food, a restaurant open near our hotel. those business owners out there, they are fighting right now and it is devastating to see. arthel: you see around the world as well. in europe, countries like sweden state rather open in the uk and france had heavy lockdowns and the numbers at the end, desperate 100,000 end up being

reaction to the move. thank you for joining us, we greatly appreciate it. law enforcement agents on the border have to deal with this. every day you have to go out and deal with new changes. tell me what you are seeing on the border. how bad has it been recently? >> it has been terrible, closing these checkpoints, this will only funnel more human trafficking and drug trafficking into our communities, my county in particular, one county off the border and we get this traffic that does not stop at those checkpoints, it is a huge problem and already use. >> here's what cbp has to say about this, quote, tucson sector has redirected manpower based on operational needs in response to shifting traffic patterns resulting in closure of several tactical checkpoints in southeastern arizona, as

manpower and activity levels dictate. have you ever seen anything like this where they needed to take the manpower and shift it because the problem for the challenge as the administration wants to call it at the border is so bad? >> we've seen it before but the reason they have to shift these resources is their own fault. their policies put them in this position so they are claiming they have to shift these resources to the border to deal with the surge but you wouldn't have a surge if you left the policies the way they were and wouldn't have made it worse by calling for open borders. we shouldn't be surprised. that is why we are standing against it as sheriff's, fighting against these policies like we are seeing with immigration. we need to help the american people to address this issue. shannon: you said you've seen this before. when you have seen this before

it has been climbing up the hill for us but things have been on the up and up for the most part inside our community. our businesses have seen an uptick in business in different ways, some positive and negative things. >> what are the positives and negatives that you have seen? >> for one of our businesses, a digital consultancy and the internet has proven to be covid-19 proof so a lot of people have been coming to us and we've seen an uptick in business for our tech campus we've seen the actual building itself but the co-working space and fitness facility has been pretty slow and steady as far as the come back, the immediate shutdown we had put such a deficit on us.

>> i don't disagree. giving people the confidence, confidence comes in different ways with different types of people. around our community, pretty impoverished area. and newhaven, connecticut, a lot of people suffering pretty badly and they are going to need that relief and need to be boosted enough to get out of this. we've been fortunate because we are in a different part of the economy, in the innovations space, cater to a different type of audience for the most part so we've been able to lift ourselves up on top of everything else that is happening. a large part of the community will need some help so i hope there is some bailout. arthel: you talk about your tech campus bringing people together, people working from the office. will that ever come back or his this trend to work from home, is that going to stay? how do you see the next humans opening up, any indication people will come back to work?

>> 100%. people will come back. i don't think it will be at 100%. i think we will get to 60% of where we were for the most part. we've seen steady trends since may so the indicator shows everyone is coming back over time. we had an event for international women's day this past weekend a ton of people gathered safely and they also they missed events, the connections, meeting people, bumping into people and having conversations outside of zoom so i think people are willing and able and ready to get together. >> that ties into the mental health issues which we don't yet know how serious they will be moving forward. thank you for joining us. all the best to you and to your business and good luck when connecticut opens back up. >> thanks for having me. >> stiletto woman celebrating
