going to be able to get in and sent to the interior of our country if you make it to the border, were having children crossing with who knows traffickers repeat under families are paying thousands of dollars. i just think the secretary, we had a great trip with him and with all due respect, i did not see the operational plans set forth to us that tell us always going to handle the situation. when you are already anticipating their diverting agents into the shelters, their diverting some of the drug addiction resources so they can handle the amount of children that are coming in, this is very concerning to all of us. mike: you asked the government accountability office to look into president biden's decision to unilaterally stop building president trump's border wall, what are you hoping to gain from that. >> i think it's a question is it legal for the president by executive order to overturn the will of congress in terms of the appropriation of dollars.

so in case of the wall at the end of last year we appropriated over $1 billion for border wall system which includes a technology and other things not just a physical wall, some of the replacement walls have been taken down and nothing's been put up because president biden stop this in its tracks. personally when you talk to agents what they tell you is a wall in the wall system is part of a tool that they need in their toolbox to disrupt the flow of the illegal immigrants. i think it's important that we finish the contracts at the least and then decide what kind of technology we need going forward. mike: were nearly out of time but i want to touch on another issue in the united states senate, the filibuster can you explain why it's so important to preserve the filibuster and how your talks are going with bipartisan members to try to save it. >> the filibuster requires that we get 60 votes to move anything. over the last four years we were able to move bipartisan legislation which meant we were getting eight or nine democrats to join the majority republicans

to move in that forces compromise and negotiation and if we get rid of the filibuster we will turn into the house of representatives majority rule and it will be a roller coaster policy that are just going to be passed much easier and greater impact, things like the green new deal or the new voter id laws or other things of that nature. we have got to preserve the filibuster, that is critical to the rights of the minority to be able to be heard. mike: shelley moore capito from the great state of west virginia. have a great sunday. not to the democratic side north carolina congressman in the house appropriation of budget committee david price, welcome. >> hello, good afternoon. mike: what needs to be done to address the border crisis right now? >> we need to get a hold of the situation in terms of sending a clear signal as a secretary has done in the president has done

that people should not come to the border and they should not send their children to the border, it is not safe and that's a very clear message from this country and with the children, of course we are not separating children from their families, were not putting children in these warehouse situations and we have a real challenge at the moment with the numbers being accommodated, but the administration is working very steadily and very conscientiously to treat these children humanely but at the same time to send a negative signal not to come into deal with those who are here in a responsible way and they're quite steadily increasing our capacity to do that. mike: would be wise for president biden to make a trip to the border and is he doing enough right now? >> i think they are bending every effort to deal with this, it is a challenge and there is a

legacy from the previous administration that has to be dealt with. were not going to separate children from their parents, were not going to lose the papers so we can't ever reunite these families and so on. this has to be dealt with and there needs to be an orderly process who are doing so, yes i think there bending every effort to do that and the president has some point no doubt will want to visit the border and see for himself and meanwhile the secretary has been down there bipartisan groups and members of congress have been down there and i think there's plenty of attention being paid to this issue. mike: infrastructure a key issue is your procreative and on the budget committee here is arkansas republican senator tom cotton from today. >> we have infrastructure needs in arkansas like every state does but i suspect based on what i heard from a democratic friends in the senate this will

not be geared toward those needs it will be geared toward big tech increases in implementing the green new deal. mike: your thoughts? >> i don't know what planet my friend mr. cotton is on. we are talking infrastructure and this time we hope it's more than a punchline during the trump years there was infrastructure but everybody became kind of a joke, it is true both sides have been talking infrastructure for a long time and i choose to see the positive side of that let's assume everybody means it that they understand even without the pandemic we would be needing to big-time invest in this country transportation and this country's broadband and our housing needs and by transportation i mean all loads of transportation and it's way way overdue and as we speak talks are going on as to what they should look like in the dimension should be on the

when there's a full investigation a bipartisan into this governor why a march 20 for the mandate and why he didn't use the government facilities provided to him and why he covered up the numbers for so many months. if we get answers i think we could start to breathe and continue to try to memorialize them. one thing that we've heard time and time again for people grieving saying they want more answers is there one specific thing or a multitude of all those that you mentioned anything about specific policy at the time. >> i want to know the origins of the march 25 order why did you put infected patients into nursing homes, that is not science, where did that come from. i want to know why he didn't use a comfort ship in the javits center in the makeshift hospitals and why they covered up the numbers and why he lied all those months and lied in his book and celebrated himself. those are the three questions i want answered to and i hope the fbi in the federal investigation of the d.o.j. investigation
