shooting of a young black man. meanwhile, a cnn reporter portrays herself as in the thick of it and got the thick part right. >> you may notice that my eyes are watery. that is because they have just like shot a huge amount of gas. it's c.s. gas. really the strongest i have ever had stood in before during a protest. we were all consumed by it. now you can see -- you want to talk to me? cool. don't take my mic. tell me what you think about what's going on. >> what i think about this? all the press and all the extra [bleep] i do makes this worse. get out of here with the twisting up the media. >> i'm live. >> i don't care if you're live or not. get away from here with that media [bleep] you're doing. >> we're with cnn. >> take that camera -- >> we're going up there. >> take it all the way up there.
8:02 pm
you're doing the extra backhand stuff to make people look crazier than they are. >> greg: i love him. now the guy's anger may be about some of the unseemly aspects of the protests being exposed on tv. i don't know. but with cnn, they're more obsessed with the police trying to stop the looting than the looting itself. the dude spoke truth. look at any news event, how much value is added when the media shows up? does it make it better like adding bailey's to a cup of coffee? or does it make it worse like adding anchovies to a pizza? what happened if they tried not to amplify the conflict? that would be stupid. viewers don't want to see that. they want the conflict. they'll pretend the conflict is not conflict to support the conflict. they let it rage out of control. why should they care? it's not their neighborhoods burning down. so journalism has changed.
8:03 pm
there's no commitment to community, to easing strife. it's only to intensify the burn. so as cops deal with protests and looters nail a bunch of stores and destruction spreads, it's part of the process. video followed by outrage followed by coverage of outrage. it's as predictable as cnn's programming because it is. it's a scene that has gone from shocking to expected to gleefully anticipated by the media. as familiar a a rerun of friends except it's the one where rachel set central perk ablaze. the explanation nor the shooting, the officer miss took her taser for a gun. when you see the video, you can tell it. tragic? yes. acceptable? absolutely not. in this climate, mistakes don't exist. we must act if a horrible tragic error was intentional. that's how every event becomes proof of a preordained conclusion. the truth might get in the way
8:04 pm
of the narrative. rule number 1 when writing a movie script. give them something exciting in the first four pages. every police video fulfills that requirement. so where do the dems stand on this? rasheeda talib demands an end to all policing. it reads, it wasn't an accident. policing in our country is racist. duante wright was met with aggression and violence. i'm done with those that condone government-funded murder. no more policing, incarceration and militarization. no more police means no more disobeying police. that problem solved. does it make sense? god no. it's not supposed to. out of the tens of millions of traffic stop as year, you get mistakes and tragedies. the only response to this now, amplification, magnification, ruin. with just 24 incidents out of millions of stops, we can still
8:05 pm
cover this chaos at least twice a month. when you ignore context, you have time to full. it's the devil's slot machine. it hits a horrible jackpot every 10,000 pulls but we won't show you the other 9,999 outcomes. who would sit through a 24/7 channel of safe traffic stops? hell, they cancelled the rated live p.d. for showing actual police work because it didn't fit the narrative. the opposite of why anderson cooper stays on. so the only solution is to reduce the bad outcomes to absolute zero even though a life risk-free isn't possible. the numbers are so small that you can read about each case and see how different each one is. that is too much work with little pay-off. instead, end the police. that's the only way to keep police interactions from turning into tragedy. what other risks explode? when that one stat falls to zero? who suffers then?

minority communities, minority businesses. according to the gallup center on black voices, black americans want the same or more police presence in their neighborhoods. many will be left defenseless in the real world outside gated communities and ivory towers. i guarantee you, jeff zucker's house has more cameras. they can afford it. like talib, they can stick us with the bill. incidents that we had. we've had in georgia where police officers are being shot at. we have what happened in minnesota. we have a police officer being held accountable for his actions in court with george floyd. then we had the capitol police officer being laid to rest today. that is the entire spectrum of what it's like for officers. >> greg: right. >> as a black man, when i hear these things, as i get older and i get wisdom, i try to look at -- each situation is different. it's not the same. you can't put them together. when you put them together, you're not doing justice for anyone. you're making it ugly. that young brother, when he decided -- up until the point -- this is tough for me. i'm a parent. and i'm also talking about compliance. when you hear those words, you're going to jail, it sucks. you're being arrested. it sucks. at that moment, that's not when you decide to fight it.
8:11 pm
you're not rosa parks in that moment. you're breaking the law. if he just would have went with being arrested -- i'm going to catch hell for this, but then what happens is people panic. the tension is everywhere. minnesota is like everyone is walking on land mines. you have a police officer that made an accident probably isn't the right word. a horrific mistake. she resigned her position. she shouldn't be a police officer anymore. she should be held accountable but we're not telling that story. we're only looking at one thing. that is what concerns me. we cannot get better. we cannot get past it until we learn that we have to be accountable all the way around. we have to -- police officers -- i grew up disliking police officers. i said it a million times. when i saw a cop car, i went to other way. wanted nothing to do with them. as i've learned, as i have grown, you look at the world, see things, you reflect on what
8:12 pm
you were doing and things like that. puts it in perspective. what happened to that young man was a tragedy. it was a horrible mistake. she should be held accountable. but do not all of a sudden make her the leader of the ku klux klan. don't talk about it was this mass conspiracy. the people that don't want the police are unaffected because they don't need police in their life. they have body guards, they have families, cars, houses, security. they have cameras. so of course they can say i don't need police. i don't want police until they need them. when they need them? they take them from us. protests go on. you have a protest over here at city hall. turns into a riot. as soon as they get within two blocks of their home, national guard, police officers are pulled off the dollar store, out of target and have to go keep their neighborhood safe. the neighborhood is destroyed. they come on their pulpit and say we don't need the police. >> greg: yeah. >> we cannot get better until we

8:14 pm
>> greg: regulatory laws. >> i don't understand how people like rasheeda talib don't care about the need for cash grabs because of these expensive policies aren't going to lead to needing more of a police presence. the two things don't make sense together. >> greg: that is an excellent point. >> thank you, greg. >> greg: police don't want to wrestle men over cigarettes. they don't want to pull people over and get in these scary moments because of an expired registration. >> who are the victims of expired registration? >> greg: a great question. >> i can't find it. >> greg: we'll spend an hour on that. up next, joe plays it cool. stick around.
