62,500 admissions this year. we're working quickly to undo the damage of the last four years. it will take some time but that work is already underway. and even though the president initially declined to raise the refugee cap for this year, top officials are blaming the cap of 15,000 that biden was okay with just last month on trump. >> number one, please remember that we inherited a system that was dismantled in its entirety and we had to really rebuild it. >> somebody who had the dhs secretary job before mayorkas skofs at the suggestion that the trump administration broke the immigration system. >> facts don't support that ludicrous claim. we handed them a secure border and the numbers from illegal apprehensions and numbers across the board demonstrate the border was safe and secure and the immigration system was working.

>> the white house teased a cash transfer program last month as a way to address root causes of migration from central america. now two house republicans want details about how that would work writing this raises further concerns that such aid would simply be wasted on corrupt politician titions and organizations serving their own interests and not those of the interests of the american people. however, if remarks this morning the vice president who is in charge of addressing root causes in the region acknowledged the importance of getting that u.s. taxpayer money to the right people. >> we will not make significant progress if corruption in the region persists. >> immigration not much of a public focus of the white house today, though. the vice president is now on her way to wisconsin and president biden will be talking about covid-19 vaccines here at the white house. harris. >> harris: thank you very much. in focus now republican national committee chairwoman ronna mcdaniel. great to see you today.
8:04 am
first of all, let's start with where or how americans will immediately feel a quadrupleing of the cap of refugees to the united states. >> these border states and border personnel will be unindated even more. what joe biden keeps doing is putting a magnet out to draw people to this country illegally putting them in harm's way, putting them in the hands of cartels who they have to pay to make this dangerous trek and it is impacting children at a significant rate. many are dying as they make this journey. instead of saying let's tackle the immigration problem and have immigration reform, he keeps throwing quick fixes out there that appease the democrat progressive left without actually solving a root problem and boy, i feel so bad for our border patrol agents who are so overwhelmed right now and they have a president and white house who doesn't care about them and the task they are undertaking.
8:05 am
>> harris: it is interesting to hear you talk directly about the families, refugees particularly and the children because we know the pressure that is happening at the border right now in terms of protecting children and what a huge job it is as you point out for the border patrol. albanian refugee says biden's decision to raise the refugee cap is not about helping people, though. watch this. >> why increase the number of refugees now? what is the intent? the intent of the democrat party is to create a permanent underclass in the united states so it can be dependent on the government and create a voting block for the future of the democratic party. we should understand the intent is not to bring these people to get them out of misery and out of suffering. >> harris: that's an interesting first person perspective. your reaction to it. >> i think he is doing tremendous harm to these families who are coming here with hope and want to come to

the united states of america but are being put in the hands of cartels. i talked to governor abbott last week. he said there isn't a single person coming across our border who isn't being dealt with for the cartels. they have to pay the cartels. many children are dying along the way and suffering horrific abuses as they come to this country. not only will the president and vice president go to the border they haven't spoken to the governors dealing with this firsthand. he is putting a policy in place. he keeps aoc and durbin and the progressive left happy but it is a catastrophe for everybody who is dealing with it in realtime in our southern states. >> harris: how is it that the progressives on the hill have more pressure and can get more effective action from this president than millions of americans? >> he ran as a moderate, harris. we know this. he ran as i will unite people. we saw his inaugural speech. he has been nothing but.
8:07 am
he has spoken more to xi and putin than to mccarthy and mcconnell. he has no interest working across the aisle. it's telling they haven't gone to the border and talked to the agents and talked to the families and talked to the people who are dealing with this crisis firsthand. and that shows that he is not really interested in solving the problem. he is interested in giving to his progressive friends and making sure they get their win. >> harris: we heard that one albanian refugee talk about biden is not focused on helping the children. here are some children that maybe can get the president's attention different subject. some fifth graders in virginia went off script. they were to tell the president and first lady what remote learning has been like.

>> harris: facebook oversight's board is set to announce the fate of former president donald trump's account but republicans are focused on reining in big tech's power no matter what the company decides. >> free speech in america now depends on the whims of a monopoly corporation. that's how much power these people have. by the way, we have no idea how they make their decisions, facebook and their facebook court and all of this nonsense. this is ridiculous. we ought to be able to say what we want to say within the bounds of the law of course. >> harris: susan lee has the latest for us. one day we don't ware what these companies decide because hopefully there be more competition. >> four months since president

trump has been able to post on facebook. it might change tomorrow morning. they decide trump's fate on the biggest site. it was first suspended january 7th after the capitol hill riots and indefinitely banned a few days later by mark zuckerberg himself saying keeping president trump on the platform posed risks that were too great. the decision will be crucial given that other social media sites like twitter snap and youtube have continued their trump ban and some indefinitely. facebook is the most important. 3 billion visit the social media site every day. facebook has one of the largest controls over advertising spending in the u.s. and america. for president trump returning to facebook not only means engagement with his 35 million followers but amplification of his influence in a gop party and experts say that also gives him influence and king maker status on the republican side.

handling of the nursing home deaths in new york. the governor is digging in his heels. >> nursing homes is being looked at by the eastern district. that was a political investigation started by donald trump. who politicized not just covid but politicized nursing homes and policies towards nursing homes and wanted to blame democratic governors like myself. i did nothing wrong and period. and i'm not resigning and i'm doing my job every day. >> harris: but the "new york post" wrote this. on top of blocking health officials from telling the truth, senior staffers also quashed a scientific paper which reported the true fatality total. give it up, governor. janice dean joins me now. what a day yesterday was when

we watched and covered on "outnumbered" suddenly the breaking news from that news conference and we heard this governor of new york compare to what people might do if they spread covid to their grandparents. kill them. we all immediately thought wait a minute, isn't he is guy who is accused of being the person who has killed a lot of grandparents? karl rove asked that question. >> he is right. i felt the same way when i was watching your program yesterday. how dare he. he should stop talking. then i thought to myself the more he talks, the more all of that can be used in a court of law against him. so you know what? keep talking, governor. keep saying foolish stuff like that. the "new york post" and even "the new york times" and the "new york daily news" now coming out with these reports saying that he actively covered up the numbers for months. and the timeline was coinciding

the only way we can really get him out is probably to vote him out in 2022. but i have to say i am hopeful about the investigations that are happening right now in the nursing home issue and the tragedy, the justice department has an ongoing investigation, the federal government as well. and the f.b.i. so i have to believe we're on the side of the angels, harris. and that will prevail. >> harris: amen. good to see you, janice dean. thank you for being with us today. >> i love you. >> harris: i love you, too. if you want a deeper dive in the controversy surrounding new york's governor sign up for fox nation now to watch the collapse of cuomo. the full documentary is available to stream now on fox nation. thank you for watching "the faulkner focus", which is at the corner today at the avenue of the americas.
