todd: welcome back, it is national police weekend we celebrate the men and women in blue, detroit's top cop chief james craig ready to retire after 44 years. jillian: lawrence jones wants the medicine is learn more about his career, lawrence joins us now. it has been quite a career. >> a lot of the people are sad to see him go. he announced his retirement from the detroit police department after 13 years of service. i got a chance to talk to him about how he changed the city, his thoughts on policing and his future plans. take a listen.

todd: it's the story everybody is talking about colonial pipeline restarting operations five days after being hacked supply shortages to people across the east coast.

jillian: gas tank farm in greenberg, north carolina where gas stations are empty. lindsey, what's the latest this morning. >> todd and jillian, at last check gas analysts say just about 75% of gas stations all across our state have no supply at all. over the last two days, we have really started to feel that supply crunch, as they are calling it we have seen long lines of cars, spilling out into parking lots, filing even into the road. tensions have really gotten high over the last several days. we have seen people filling up their cars with premium gas paying well over $3 a gallon and even if they are able to get that gas because many times the pumps are just blocked off. they're not able to get that those tensions really climbing. we have even seen some people getting too fights as they try to get to the gas pump. one of those caught on camera when a woman and when a white sedan tries to cut in line to get to the gas pump, both

drivers get out of their cars hitting and shoving each other, really just violent. now, there is relief on the way and that's important to note. colonial pipeline started using delivery system earlier in the week to try help with the supply. more is coming as well. governor roy cooper issued an inpart to help make it easier fr these fuel trucks to get the supply here. the governor said yesterday there is enough supply. that's not the problem. but, what is the problem is people rushing to the gas pump. hoarding fuel, getting more than they need and really creating a panic over it. now, that's why the governor says stay calm, try to only use the fuel that you need over these next several days while the supply chain is restored and hopefully that will be sooner rather than later. reporting live in greensboro, i'm lindsey. jillian: great report. that last part that she was talking about how they are saying don't go and get all this fuel and just safe it because there are people out there who need it. one of those, you know, two of

the people actually trucking industry. we had them on in the 4:00 hour. they said the exact same thing. we talked to co-owner of ktc trucking and carriers both been in this industry more than 30 years they said these pipelines are essential to those jobs for various reasons. specifically the fuel. you think about truck drivers and when you have a fuel shortage like this and you have problems to a pipeline like this. i mean, these truck drivers are kind of the end part of our whole entire supply chain, right? you think of everything that we have gone through in the last year and a half with coronavirus and how vital they have been to our society, delivery being made and then you see a fuel shortage like this, they said these pipe lions are so important to us. todd: you went to the truckers, i will go back to the pipeline for a moment. that commission, and let's call it what it is by jennifer granholm saying pipelines are the way to go, four months after joe biden canceled the keystone

xl pipeline permit, that is going to be the thorn in the side of this administration for months, if not years to come as they try to weed back out of that comment. you saw them try. i don't know if that's going to sort of stand up with a lot of people in the court of public opinion. and i think what we have seen so far going to like the macroaspect of all of this, yes this. is happening in north carolina. i filled up yesterday in connecticut and for the first time, had a really, really long time we were in the 3s. this is an area that is not impacted by this pipeline specifically. we get our gas from somewhere else. if it's happening there, it's going to start happening in other oareas of the country. this is a situation that we need to monitor, especially with memorial day about two weeks away. that's the start of the driving season. jillian: you know, that's a good point. the comment that granholm had said the doe walked that back a little bit. they said she was referring to the colonial pipeline

specifically. she wasn't looking at the full context of her remarks. earlier in this hour we interviewed neil crabtree we have had him on this show a bunch of times. laid off keystone xl pipeline. he is very vocal how these pipelines are to our society. he smirked when he heard the soundbite what she said, look, we have been trying to tell people how important these pipelines are. we see this. but now maybe, hopefully, other people are starting to realize that and, look, we will see what ends up happening, but you have a lot of laid off pipeline workers still. you have a lot of people across this country looking for jobs. i don't know, i think this is a wake-up call on many levels to see exactly what happened in the last week. todd: one of those areas where it's a wake-up call besides cyber and everything you are referencing is the overarching climate change narrative. look, you and i both want clean water. we want clean air, but this entire experience over the course of the last week underscores the fact that look, we are never going to be free of
