former chief who is worked long in the middle east dan we've seen this before, how far can this go? >> yeah we have seen this before, there have been numerous violent clashes between israel and hamas, and then major wars going back to 2014. and in 20 and 2007, right now there's certainly efforts to mediate the conflict. but hamas has seen an opportunity to increase violence in order to have leverage both in terms of the international community hamas wants to make it clear inspite of the abraham accord to establish and influential gulf states like eae without solving the palestinian conflict hamas wants to prove that that's not the case. and then there's a civil war going on within the palestinian movement between hamas and the palestinian authorities and hamas wants to gain upper hand there. eric: dan you're saying hamas is use or trying to use for

propaganda purposes as they have in the past and a lot of controversy over the destruction of that media building, but the ibf says hamas intelligent services have used that building you know we know they've -- they hide artillery and other rockets with civilian people. they have those tunnels built essentially so are you saying essentially that hamas tries to provoke this to get international sympathy? >> i think hamas has long history of deploying in densely populated areas with operative as you mentioned, rockets and other infrastructure that they used to target israeli cities. and inflict major damage on israeli cities and kill innocent israeli civilians so there's a lot of hypocrisy there on the part of hamas. and so -- the israeli defense forces saying that hamas had military intelligence resource there is,

and people and operatives in that building they gave the media an hour to get out of that building before the attack was launched that means hamas has warning as well israeli defense forces trying to deal with that pipeline between targeting hamas operative to tunnel, and their military rockets. while at the same time trying to protect civilian life which i would emphasize something they are not doing they are irreconcilable terrorist we recognize them as such. eric: you mention one that i think some say mainstream media does not focus on that's the palestinians the citizens of gaza who are killed -- by hamas so we've reports that a lot of rockets have fallen within gaza and -- they've killed their own. >> i mean hamas is also targeted palestinian authority influential authority rivals for assassination. so they willfully disregard
