>> and tyrus, what's on tap? >> what it is? where's the meat? this time it's not at a arby's, it's in oklahoma. >> first, the number of major retailers dropping their mask mandates is growing after the cdc announced fully vaccinated americans no long arer e need to wear their masks indoors or outdoors. disney world and starbucks joining others changing the rules, but home debow, cvs and kroger among others -- depot, are reviewing policies. still, many companies are keeping the mandates in place for now like macy's, target and dollar general, and ten states right now are still deciding if they'll change their rules, and that includes blue states like new york, california and michigan. critics, of course, say the new guidelines have been a long time coming and question the timing of all of this, suggesting that it might have been done to distract people from the politically difficult week for president biden.

but dr. anthony i fauci, the white house's chief medical adviser, doubling down on his claim that the decision to relax restrictions really was based purely on science. >> the decision that we don't have to wear masks when you're fully vaccinated is really based on an accumulation of scientific evidence over the past several weeks. the low level of infection in the community and the extraordinarily highfectiveness of the vaccine -- highfectiveness of the vaccine has brought us to the conclusion that it is now safe to put aside masks so long as you are vaccinated. >> all right, sean, i want to start with you because, you know, for months and months we've been hearing -- [laughter] we've been hearing that it's going to take 60-70% of the population to get vaccinated to reach herd immunity. i want to pull up a figure of where we are right now at this. we are only at 36% of americans

being fully vaccinated. s that is nowhere near this 60-70% of reaching herd immunity, but now we've got dr. fauci saying we've got new science, new evidence to kind of move things along a lot quicker. sean, you know how washington works, so what's really going on here? >> well, can't we all acknowledge that fauci is a political hack and not a scientist? we've all known that if you get vaccinated, you can take your mask off. and if you want to look back, people have been getting vaccinated for five or six months. you could have done that study months ago and gotten that same recommendation in february or march. but here it comes this week, and you said this in your open, it's about politics. look at what happened to joe biden's week. horrible job numbers, number one, people who can't get gas on the east coast, and then you have the middle east burning. so so to change the narrative in the national news corpses, they talked about lifting the

restrictions which we all knew should be lifted. still says that children, if you don't get vaccinated, should still wear masks. and we all know that children have a low propensity to get covid, and if they do, they're not going to die from covid. so that's frustrating. why aren't we getting recommendations on the millions of people who have already had covid and have antisphwhoidz. >> right. >> you can also take off your mask. it's back in the '70s when they say formula's better than a mother's breast milk, right? they're telling me the vaccine is better than my own antibodies? [inaudible] my analogy of breast milk -- >> probably going to have to get a booster shot too, by the way. lisa, i want to play this exchange really quickly between white house press secretary jen psaki answering a question from our peter doocy about whether the president still thinks red states got it wrong. listen to this.

>> so does the president still think that these red state governors who were a little bit ahead of the federal government in lifting the mask mandates had e neanderthal thinking? >> well, again, i would say that even with this guidance that's out there, the guidance is not telling states and localities exactly how they should implement. i know i am reassured by listening to the guidance of health and medical experts, not political decision making. >> lisa, you moved to a red state early on. how's that going for you? >> it's great. [laughter] no, life is great in florida, and governor desantis has performed so well in keeping this state open while also keeping seniors safe, which was the most critical, which is what everyone else should have done from the beginning. i don't think there's been enough focus on how bad the biden administration has botched this and how bad joe bidens has botched this starting from the beginning when he said that president trump's travel ban on china was xenophobic and then

later reversed course to vice president kamala harris during the debate saying she wouldn't get the vaccine under trump to joe biden making, you know, his wartime promise of 100 million people being vaccinated in 100 days which the trump administration was already on track to do, to then basically telling americans they still wouldn't be true even if they got the vaccine to the botched pause on the johnson & johnson vaccine which brought a lot of hesitancy and trust issues, to botching school reopenings, crazy camp guidelines for kids and even not doing things like the u.k. did, putting an emphasis on the first dose and delaying the second dose which they did effectively. so you can go down the list of where the biden administration and joe biden himself royalty screwed up. yet he made covid the define thing reason of his campaign and why people should send him to

office in the first place. nobody talks about allowed bad he's gotten it all wrong. >> tyrus, that's really important. new york still hasn't decided yet on what to do with this mask, new guidance from the cdc. although the fact is 50 of new yorkers are now vaccinated. don't you think though the longer new york takes to drop the mask mandate and follow, get in line with what the cdc is now saying, don't you think this is now just eroding the trust in the vaccines? if we can't tell people they're going to be okay if they're vaccinated, then how can they trust the vaccine? >> well, first of all, we're all via remote because new york can't get it together. i'm kind of cool with that. i'm in beautiful louisiana concern. [laughter] not in that studio. so keep doing what you're doing, new york, because i'm loving being at home. you know, my kids love it. daddy goes to work for 15 minutes, not 3 days, so

financial. having said that -- it's phenomenal. the politicization, we saw it in the endings of the trump administration and president biden's big mistake, his big promise that he was going to bring us together and tell it like it is. and then politics got involved, and the only reason why fauci made this statement is because they needed a win. the realities of all the executive orders and basically fleecing the country of what was a law and order president to think the gates are open, you can do what you want to do and using the cdc to basically scare people. i remember when i got the vaccines and i got my second vaccine, it was like, great, what can i do now? basically nothing. it wasn't a great time for them. so they used the cdc to keep their political gates going. now it's up, everybody knows what's going on. we're all missing the point that they had soft music playing while fauci was telling you that you could take your masks off which means they recorded it,

they put it up, they edited it, they had a dj -- >> it was planned, yeah. >> and then they said, wait, because we need a win. they had a really bad day, roll that beautiful footage. the problem was the rest of america was, like, you're telling us something we already know. because they politicized the cdc, and we don't trust the cdc anymore. >> yeah. there's a lot of misunderstanding and misinformation out there. take a look at this, because president biden has said there's really not a lot of vaccine hesitancy across the u.s. right now, and i want to pull these stats up, if we can, i think i just lost it on the monitor. there it is. 60%, close to 60% have at least one dose. i talk to people all the time, and it doesn't matter what party they're affiliated with that haven't yet gotten the vaccine and don't feel like getting it. what do you guys feel of that?

>> one of my closest friends, p.j. black, he's paranoid of vaccines. you're always going to have people that question things, and i think that's okay. if you're not comfortable with getting a vaccine, research it. just don't rush into it because if something were ever to go wrong and you made a decision without thinking about it and you just did it because your party told you to do it, that kind of goes against the cd with of taking -- the idea of taking care of yourself and being smart. >> in fairness, i think there are a lot of people looking at the data and exercising common sense. if you're 36 years old, young and healthy and covid is not a threat to me from a healther perspective, so why should i be forced to do it either by the private sector or the government when it's just simply not a threat to me? also it's not fda approved yet, it's under emergency use authorization. my parents develop it, i'm glad they did because they're much higher risk, but people exercising common sense and

saying, look, it's not a threat to my kid or to me. however, maybe if someone overweight, perhaps elderly, they should go out and get it. i think people should be able to use and exercise common sense in making that decision for themselves and their families. >> well said. thank you so much. go ahead. >> the politics of the cdc, a lot of people do not trust information that's come out, number one. but number two, if we with made it easier to you could just do a drive-up vaccine is and you're busy with kids and your life, i've got ten minutes, i could get the vaccine, that'd be way easier for people. and i think because the cdc made this announcement we were still wearing masks, you can't go back to normal, people are, like, why do i get it? it doesn't make sense. >> yeah, exactly. now they're offering it at the transit stations here in new york. all right, guys, thanks so much. president biden's current

♪ if you start me up i'll never stop. ♪ >> welcome back to "the big saturday show." yes, we're -- [inaudible] following the cyber attack against the colonial pipeline company. with almost 90 percent of gas stations in the nation's capital running completely dry yesterday. some of the worst hit being north and south carolina. the shortages also affecting drivers' wallets, the average price increasing to a bit over $3 a gallon up significantly from the average price this time last year. the good news is the colonial pipeline has restarted operations but not before shelling out a reported $5 million in ransom to the group responsible for the attack. though the company tweets that they're rushing to deliver

millions of gallons in fuel to affected area, some shortages are expected to persist for weeks. i first want to go to you, tyrus. so we hear a lot from the left about how bad carbon fuel is. now we have to shut down pipelines and make this big transition. we all know they cut off construction of the keystone, and l pipeline. >> right. >> is this what america will look like under aoc's green new deal? no fuel, no cars, no electricity? >> okay, first of all, unless something has dramatically changed, she still has this one little vote from her little area she's from. so i think we're in no danger of the green new deal, as much as they want the try it. here's the thing, obviously, their attacking -- they're attacking toes sell fuels. back in the day when someone would push gasoline and oil, wow, they must be getting money from exxon or shell or something that. and, lo and behold, the pipeline

gets shut down, and the white house position is, well, if we all had electric cars, this wouldn't have happened. from who, an individual who has his stake interest in a company that pushes electric cars. this is a way to cash in by doing the same thing. do we need to improve? yes. at one time we were all on horseback, carriages, wagons and the streets were horrible, you had to cross land mines, buggy whips, overpriced, and over time we changed. 100%, if we could get to lek trek cars but one day, that'd be phenomenal, but do you see on any of these freeways places to plug your car in? no. do they have one that'll fit me? no. so i'm not get one. the point is their hypocrisy hurt a lot of people. one of the things i always admired about president trump is he would literally stop his car wherever he was going to check the gas pump price.

it was a point of pride for the president that people didn't pay a lot on gas. in louisiana, we got lucky, we didn't get hit with gas prices or but it's more expensive. $3 a gallon hurts a lot of people. if you had energy, it's smocking. and the biggest, the worst problem on all this real quick was we were hit with a terrorist attack. they knocked down our gas lines, and no one made a big deal of it. could you imagine if someone living in russia shut down something and that would have been okay? i mean, that's what we would have been talking about. >> well, good point. maybe we should have spent more time instead of on the russia hoax -- [audio difficulty] you brought up a good point. i want to bring up this quote, that was the quote from energy secretary granholm who said,

says those who drive electric cars aren't affected by gas shortages. so to you, lisa. when the energy secretary stays something like that, what does she say about when texas is hit by an ice system and there's no electricity where you could never charge your car, right? and this gas line is shut down, you can't fill up your car, but you can get electricity. in texas, you couldn't charge your car, but you could get gas. isn't this stupid? >> of course it is. for a second there i was envisioning tyrus on some sort is of horseback buggy. [laughter] this is going through my head. >> sorry you had to go through that. [laughter] >> i know. it was actually funny. but, you know, you can also look at states like california that have moved away from fossil fuels, and they've seen tons of

blackouts, rolling blackouts, households without energy as well. and what's interesting this past week e we've seen an admission from the biden administration, how important pipelines are to america. we've heard or that both from the secretary of energy as well as from pete buttigieg of transportation, also john kerry admitting that pipelines are, you know, the best for the environment in terms of the alternative to move oil into the country, yet what did joe biden do upon taking office in he nuked the keystone pipeline, killed 11,000 direct jobs, killed tens of thousands of indirect jobs and killed a way to bring 800,000 barrels of oil to the united states on a daily basis. i thought that was an interesting admission. but also concerns about the cyber attack and the vulnerabilities of the energy infrastructure. and we've seen people like general jack keane say that dark side couldn't are done this without the russian government's

knowledge, so, you know, why did they do it? was it just to test the biden administration? is there something more sinister on the horizon? i think the answer to that question is important as well. >> i think's really important. we had a $5 million ransom paid by this colonial pipeline. isn't that just encouraging more hacks and more ransoms and more money to be paid by these various organizations? >> i think if there's one thing that democrats and republicans and cybersecurity experts can on, it's that. that this was -- can agree on. i wouldn't caw it a mistake, but it definitely opens us up to future cyber attacks. you know, hackers are watching this and thinking, wow, that was easy. that's a quick and easy way to make some money. and i think that it's really important for americans right now to pay attention to what's happening, what the administration doing about this especially to this new cyber

safety review board the president just created a couple of day ago. and the question i have is, you know, what really is this going to accomplish, what is the focus of this new board? is it going to require these private companies like colonial to make these payments, make these ransom payments public? you'll remember that scammers have more power when they get to do their dirty work in the dark. so really all we can do, because these cyber attacks will continue to happen, and people are are going to continue to pay these ransom payments. we can't stop that. so the is this board going to be able to shine a light on what's happening so that the public knows, fist and foremost, what's going on in realtime? the biggest focus needs to be to prevent this panic buying that's out of control. the hackers didn't do that, okay? they're not driving up the prices. we did that to ourselves. >> that's a good point. i think if colonial pays the

utility bills and $300 million for traffic tickets. newsom tweeting that california's providing the largest rental relief program, and for those that need it, we'll pay back rent and utility bills. he also tweeted for low income californians, tickets from 2015-2021 will be forgiven. i mean, sean, is this the all a ploy just to get votes? >> of course it is. if gavin newsom's shutdown how he handled the pandemic that caused poor and middle class individuals to lose their jobs and have this economic strife, number one, right? maybe instead of giving money away for votes, because we all know he has a recall on the horizon, maybe he should take his 13.3% income tax and actually lower it so people stop leaving the state and keep jobs in california.

>> well, and, tyrus, you look at california got over $40 billion from the latest covid relief package, so so why should americans have to be on the hook to pay for californians' rent as well as their traffic tickets? >> well, very simple, vote for me, and i'll give you free stuff, you know? it's like shooting free t-shirts at a basketball game, but you charge the t-shirts to the season ticket hold exercise. it's the -- ticketholders. >> will it work? >> will it work? usually it does, unfortunately, at least in the short term. but anytime, i always believed this, it was always told to me, it's always better to teach somebody to fish than the give them fish. if you want to give tax credits, or here's an idea, give it back. that's not the answer, and that should have nothing to do with not taking accountability for making bad decisions, and that would go a lot are longer in terms of being honest with your

constituents. i made some bad choices, we have this surplus, and we're not going to pay your traffic tickets and your rent. most of us still roll up our sleeves and work if got through things and sacrificed. again, i grew up in california, my mother worked two jobs. she never got one dime from state assistance, so for the groups with of americans who are like that who work and persevere and sacrifice, telling them they're going the pay for parking tickets they don't have or rent they kept paying really isn't fair. and this is the democratic way. they always act like we can't do things for ourselves, and all they need is our vote, and when it happens again, don't worry, we'll get some of you new stuff. and if you say it's bad, you're a racist, elitist or a mean old republican. >> yeah. trying to be open are rah. you get a car -- oprah. >> at least oprah, the car came from oprah, not john q.

[laughter] >> there's a long list of things that governor newsom is facing. first of all, you've got californians fleeing the state. his french laundry scandal where he was caught violating his own rules for covid. you have the unemployment fraud scheme that took place as well that he's facing, and, you know, botching that as well as just the lockdowns that cost californians and businesses, you know, so many jobs. how vulnerable is he truly? >> lisa, you know, i don't think -- if you don't know how to curry favor, i don't think you're a real politician, right? everyone has tricks up your their sleeves. i would say a good comparison is what people thought governor cuomo here in new york was doing when he was hit by scandal after scandal, he had to face the music when it came to that nursing home ordeal and the sexual harassment allegations one after the other. and all of a sudden you saw him loosening up restrictions. you know, restaurants could

increase their capacity for indoor dining. everybody was raising their eyebrow like what's going on here. i do think it's republican -- if republicans want to oust gavin newsom, they're going to have to hit harder on long-term issues, right? we're talking about homelessness, raising taxes, things like that and move away from the pandemic problems that likely won't be there in a couple of months because voters tend to vote based op disruptions that are happening in their day-to-day lives. and by november there might not be very many of those. >> and, sean, it just feels like there's never going to be any accountability. there's never accountability with these politicians. you had newsom, cuomo destroy their states. cuomo, his policies actually ended up in people dying with the elderly in this state. it just feels like there's never, ever going to be consequences for these bad actors. >> i think you're right. but what you have here is joe

biden and the federal government democrats have sent billions of dollars back to the states, and now for the next two years, three years, they're going to be santa claus and dish out all these goody programs. they're going to build roads, bridges, free money, everyone gets $3,000, free parking, free rent -- >> i'll take it. >> and i want to vote for you, right? this is buying votes. and the problem, the conversation -- the long-term consequences of inflation on these policies is horrific for hoe income and middle income -- low income and middle income americans, and this is not worth a little freebie for the next year. >> i agree. now everyone knows the key to your heart is a parking space in new york city. [laughter] will>> now we know. now we know. moving along, businesses across the country are finding it nearly impossible to hire workers as more americans are vaccinated and states are reopening their economies.

talking to, the local farmers and so forth, they're at about two-thirds of capacity of the number of people that they want. >> what do you think? >> well, i think it's reasonable to believe at some point the stimulus checks are going to stop, right in we have no indication to believe we're going to get another round, so that's going to stop, and people are going to have to make tough decisions. look, i do think part of the population is comfortable, and i would say even about people who don't want to return back to office buildings, for example, that there are some issues with that -- [laughter] like tyrus can speak to that. and i think it all goes back, part of this goes back to the mixed messages about how people feel being around other people. and the mixed messaging, it needs to be addressed because, you know, if you're vaccinated, there are some people who are vaccinated that still don't want to leave their house because they're so afraid of getting

sick. and the thing is these vaccines are not 100% effective. we're never going to go back to prepandemic days, and i think people are not hearing that. the vaccines are only meant to save you from dying and from hospitalization and from serious illness. but there are still people out there that are misunderstanding this, and they think that somehow the world is going to go back to where we were before the pandemic and are just not ready to leave their homes, and i think that's sad. i think there are a couple of things that are working here. but, yeah, stimulus checks, they're going to go away. >> yeah. i want to get your reaction. dan henninger from the "wall street journal" said this, and they're going to pull it up. is the american work ethic dying? by making unemployment insurance competitive with market rates in a pandemic, biden and the democrats may have done long-term damage to the american work ethic. the pandemic accelerated a transition event that's been evident for years away from the basic concept of daily work and towards an emerging idea that

really quick? >> please. i love stories. >> my parents moved to this country when i was 6 years old, left everything behind for one reason. there was no war, we weren't economically stressed. they came for one reason, that was higher education. we had some of the best schools in america. my dad saw that, he wanted that for his kids, and he brought us here specifically for that. and when we came here, he realized very quickly that his pakistani degrees were not going to be able to get him a professional job that he wants here in the u.s., so he went back to school and got his undergrad in two years while working and while supporting his family and feeding our mouths and taking care of us and clothing us. he did all of that. do you think at any point in time my dad thought about the word freshman or sophomore or what the elite were calling him? no. and what drives me crazy about this woke culture right now, okay, as an immigrant is that
