case challenging roe v wade revolving around the mississippi law that bans abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. it will be the first major test of the court's conservative majority. editor mary rose joins us now to weigh in. let's pop up on screen the supreme court, republicans have that 6-3 majority based on the ideological slant of the various justices. do you believe this ultimately becomes the law of the land, this mississippi law family becomes the law of the land? >> i can't speak to mississippi law as much as i can say is a woman that this issue does bring a lot of things up, when life begins and the protection and we should have seen this coming at some point, the gestational age of a fetus would be coming up as to what this law brings up as to when life is worth preserving

and gestational age of viability is a moving target when it comes to when a child's life in the womb is independently viable. facing that as a standard for some time, the standard for when life begins, has always been a bad standard to use because with medical technology. years ago, might have been impossible, who have a baby survive but as it happens at 20 weeks as i recently had an ultrasound babies have survived around that age. bringing into question when life begins is something we could have expected to come up. >> let's look at your personal situation. he wrote an op-ed, i was pressured for wanting my at risk baby, how many vulnerable moms have been encouraged to remove their imperfect the babies from the gene pool.

how has your experience informed your views on abortion? >> i am a mom of 3 children, one is inside the womb and when you are mom you know there is a life in their. it rings true to a lot of women they experienced that. that is what life is and when i have a baby growing, quite aware of the baby growing, my personal experience in a doctors office, watching the baby's movements felt like a long time measuring all the body parts so i'm practically naming her in my head and i hear the heartbeat and a doctor walks in, focused a lot on the viable final signs they saw and monitored and the development i expected to hear about, the development that has
