recently because of but the illegal immigrant christian rivera is accused of murdering 20-year-old molly tibbetts, the defense d for their opening statement until later in the trial but the state asked the jury to find him guilty. molly's death was relived by prosecutors saying surveillance video shows rivera's chevy malibu circling molly to put on that fateful run. rivera confessed to authority got out and started running next to her but became angry when she said she was going to call the cops. he claimed he blacked out, and was driving with her bloodied body in the trunk and through her over his shoulder and dumped her body. the defenses tried to get that confession thrown out because he was not read his full miranda rights but prosecutors in court pointed to video and dna evidence to be shown during the trial to prove he's guilty. rivera's defense team honed in on dalton jack who did take the stand yesterday.

jillian: good morning, welcome back. the biden administration will aloy 250 asylum seekers every day following pressure from advocacy cuccinelli. >> good morning. todd: the situation of these individuals is particularly dire and that's why they need to jump the line and get here first. your reaction. do you think that is the proper approach? >> yeah, if you ask the people in the line i don't think they would agree. i think it's absolutely the wrong approach. it's one more way that they are not discouraging but encouraging illegal immigration on a massive scale. they have literally, i can't think of saying gel step that this administration has taken to actually stem the flow of

illegal immigration as opposed to facilitate the flow. it's like they are a participant in the human trafficking chain. and this is just one more way to do it. and they, you know, they rely on oh it's the children so everyone will have different feelings for that and, of course, everybody does. but when you have already got tens of thousands of children you've encouraged to come across the border separated from their parents, i mean, they are encouraging family separation if not accomplishing it themselves. and that's what this is going to encourage more of. jillian: here's what the department of homeland security has to say on, this quote: we are working to streamline a system identifying and lawfully processing particularly vulnerable individuals who aren't humanitarian exceptions under the order. this humanitarian exception process involved close coordination with international and nongovernment mexico and

haven't gone through this process ger the country. they are soon going to allow 250 of these vulnerable migrants a day. why put that number on it? >> well, exactly. how entirely arbitrary is that? and, you know, why not 50? why not 500? presumably, it is simply because they had to put some number on it. and it is very arbitrary like so much else they are doing. but, again, fundamentally, facilitates illegal immigration. it does not slow down illegal immigration. and they are talking about it under asylum presumptively as if all 250 will be granted asylum. asylum is not granted at a very high rate among those who claim it. it is around 20% or so across the board. on the southern border, it is much lower than that.

largely because these people are coming from countries thataf s their economics are not as good as ours. we understand why people want to come here. but there is a legal process for doing that this administration is trashing our own legal immigration system by completely undermining it like this. this is just one more step in how they are doing it. todd: meantime the background of your shot there talks about the election transparency initiative. >> yes. todd: you wrote an op-ed that hr 1 would eliminate key signature verification safeguard. what would that mean in practice, ken? >> so, the op-ed was written because the importance is in practice. i'm glad you asked it that way. in practice, signature verification is a critical security measure all across the country. and representatives of both parties look at signatures and

decide whether it matches their poll books. and under hr 1. under s 1. if one party objected. and i mean that in a partisan sense of party, then the signature would come through no matter what. maybe a better way to say that is if one party didn't object, no matter how bad the signature was, i could have a hoof mark, instead of a signature, and if they simply decide that they are not going to agree to block -- to use signature verification fully, then that's the end of it all of those ballots come in under those circumstances is a gateway for fraud and there are many gateways for fraud in hr-1. of this op-ed was just to demonstrate one of them. i could write a thousand op-eds like this and, you know, we were just talking about illegal immigration. another is that all these illegal immigrants will eventually be registered to vote under hr-1 because the states
