state legislature potentially stepping in. do you expect to see more instances where states say you can't reduce police funding or defund the police in one of the biggest cities potentially hurting our cities and states, causing state budgets to go out of whack, dealing with the problems the cities of caused. >> when thinking about budgets you need leadtime to prepare for them. the police chief was caught offguard so you will see the state legislature jumping and here is the reality, kansas city is one of the 6 most dangerous cities in this country. if they follow the progressive ideology it makes neighborhoods that sign increase in violence more dangerous. a few people in city council that are following the defunding the police and citizens of kansas city have price. carley: i think back to abigail sandy berger, what she said in november when she said listen, we suffered heavily in congress because of ideas like defund the

police, usually doesn't work in democrats favor and you see things like the kansas city police defunding formula could reduce the budget by $42.3 million so if you are talking about losing power for this wire democrats still pushing these ideas? >> sometimes they think they have enough leadtime before elections come up again but i encourage them to look at a city like minneapolis who tried the same thing of reducing the money that goes to the police, violence increased, citizens didn't like it and it is the american people who see right through this, they need the police, 80% of black americans in this country want an increase of police force. this whole message is being pushed by a few progressives but it is not the american people want because they know it doesn't work. >> in one of these liberal -- pretty conservative state. if you're pulling this in kansas

york, the epicenter of the world, we had patients dying left and right and i remember only one or 2 swabs during an entire shift at work, the tests were so scarce, who are high risk or most vulnerable and when you use those resources for a younger population it could lead to outbreaks and delay someone in need. something we should take a look at because it could be perceived as misuse of resources, who desperately needed for others at the time. >> new allegations of what took place in april, a few weeks ago when tests are readily available why did that happen? >> in all fairness right now it is so easy to get a test you can get the results the same day and they are free it doesn't make

sense white was put as a rush. in my clinic i only write priority testing for those who need emergency surgery or a nurse or doctor who has to get back to the hospital so looking at the reasons, don't know the exact reasons why they rushed it but we reserve the priority testing for those in need or if we are trying to prevent or survey of the community and see to the potential outbreak that is the proper use of priority testing. >> they are very good. it with the better route to go. we've got good news, the world health organization says vaccines are effective against covid 19 variance but also overseas travel still isn't safe. listen to that soundbite. >> virus variance do respond to the available vaccines. in the face of a continuous

threat we need to continue to exercise caution, avoid international trouble. >> if people are vaccinated and that means the vaccine protects them against variants wire they told they can't travel overseas by the world health organization? >> that is a good question. safe to travel within the united states. what they are saying is take caution if you're going to travel overseas even though the vaccine has been shown to be safe and effective against those other variants. in india there is a double mutant lethal variant, they are saying take caution, be careful even if you are vaccinated, traveling to areas where there is still thousands of people dying every single day as we see in india, you want to take a look where you are going before you decide to go to that

by a tremendous majority but look at the counties we are referencing here, donald trump did extremely well so obviously this is trump country. does this have any chance of becoming reality? >> it really does. it is gaining momentum. we have 7 counties that passed it, working on another four to five at the next election, it is marching on, getting a life of its own and we are tired of it. so we are speaking out but we are speaking out in a legal way. this is the way a representative government should work. when you have a problem, you should vote your choice and so we align ourselves closer with idaho, they are the same kind of folks that we are, the same values we have and we are saying please leave us, let us go, let

be included in something that not only was a yearly but i wasn't there to be part of it. might have been virtual but it was heartwarming. currently in fort bragg. >> yes. i finished air force school, i'm here in north carolina and couldn't be there for my graduation. this is the second best day. >> what was this moment like for you to walk across the stage in your son's honor and receive that diploma on his behalf? >> it was extremely emotional, gratifying, i felt like i helped him put closure on a year like 2020 was year like no other and it was hard for all of us including my son, their actual

graduation didn't happen. for me and my husband, to walk in his honor was incredibly an incredible experience like no other. >> i can only imagine. i love that you are holding up picture of gabriel. what did it look like for you, 5, 10, 20 years down the road what will you remember most about this day? >> 2020 was a bad year for everyone. i was happy to see them do what they said they were going to do. actually had the commencement here was very very good. joni said to me, gabriel's standing ovation it was a little difficult to keep it to gather. not to look out.

everyone standing up. carley: in moments like that, that stiff upper lip, you can show the emotion. >> it was amazing. gabriel was on his phone so he heard everything. all his friends were there. like gabriel said it was the next best thing to being there. it was excellent. i was happy the way everything worked out. >> were you able to experience this moment with your family? what was it like for you? >> it was the same thing as virtually since they only had two tickets. i had to watch virtually but same as my brother, the next best thing to actually be sitting there.

carley: year after year they show fewer and fewer people joining the military. what made you want to enlist? >> so joining the military and serving my country is something i was always interested in. i always wanted to go to school, there's got to be a way to do both. my friends tell me and talked to me, you heard about me wanting to join the military. i figured once i graduated college no time like the present. if i wasn't going to do it now i wouldn't have done it. i had to make a choice and i chose to serve our country, to wake up and put on this uniform. carley: we've got to run. i want to know what did you major in and what does the future hold? >> i majored in criminal justice, minor in psychology and hope to serve one or 2 contracts in the united states army and get some sort of federal law enforcement in the future.
