leak is making their case stronger. todd: alan wilson leading the charge. do you feel we are any closer to knowing the truth? >> there's more public attention being paid to this issue. i lead a letter with 18 states that were concerned about what we were hearing out of china. in the last year it seems there's a lot of movement from people on the other side of this issue to talk about this and move on from the wuhan lab leak in animal to human transmission. not just that it was a public health crisis the national security threat to our country and state attorneys general, we are no place to defend against national security threats but we are in position to ask

respond to a major crisis like this so that is a national security threat, national security issue, not just a public health crisis. i'm concerned when we don't have faith in public health officials and political leadership, they are responding appropriately and that is why state attorneys general, chief legal officers, we have a right to demand on behalf of our citizens information from the federal authorities of what china and other stakeholders new and when they knew it so that defend states and communities. todd: will china be held accountable and what will the remedy for the american people look like? >> there is a lawsuit filed by one of my colleagues in missouri, general schmidt, a lawsuit against shine and a bunch of other private causes of actions, south carolina and other states are interested in those efforts as we gain more information. i don't want to mismanage

jillian: fox news alert 3 officers rushed to the hospital in wilmington, delaware after a suspect opened fire. the swat team is renting an apartment complex where the suspect is believed to be hiding. all officers are in stable condition as violence against law enforcement spikes nationwide. joining me live to react mark lamb and spokeswoman for the national police association sergeant smith. appreciate your time. the scene we are seeing in delaware, we see this across the country a lot lately? >> we are seeing if i too often. we have a sergeant in san bernardino, one in phoenix that was killed this week, are too often.

this is a result when you talk about defunding the police across the country. the mainstream media turning on us. this is what we will continue to see. it is unfortunate because we have families, we are americans too. jillian: you leave the house in the morning and your families don't know if you're coming home that night. the violence against police officers spiking, and you heard sheriff lamb talking about the messaging that has gone out on different media outlets and the conversation surrounding police in this country for longer than a year. how do we change this. how do we improve the

conversation around law enforcement? >> we need to fight the false narrative that long force want officers are out there hunting down and shooting unarmed black people. it is not true. it is a rare occurrence. we need law enforcement leadership to fight that false narrative, that is what sheriff mark lamb does every day in the community but we need more shaft and more chiefs to do that. we also need the media to start telling the truth about what occurred in police officer involved shootings and we need our politicians to stop talking about defunding the police and start talking about defending us. there is so much hate against law enforcement, you talked about it in volusia county, florida, where does the 12-year-old and 14-year-old in foster care get so much hatred toward law enforcement that they engage nine deputies with

multiple firearms? it is incredible. we need to fight that false narrative and it has got to be a long approach. jillian: one more question and then we will bring in sheriff richard giordano, sergeant smith, you say if we are going to discuss race we must discuss criminality and victimization. can you tell me what you mean by that? >> yes. we don't talk about who is committing the crimes. if we talk about racial bias in policing we are also going to talk about what races i can emitting what crimes and what areas. let's look at my native chicago. who is committing most of the homicides in chicago? african-americans. who is the victim of over 90% of those homicides? african-americans. if we are going to talk about

black lives really mattering then we need to talk about black criminality and black victimization, not just by law enforcement but each other. it is an uncomfortable conversation but we've got to have it. >> you jumped into this but you heard part of this conversation. i want to get your response to the rise in violence on police officers we have seen. how it affects men and women who do this day in and day out. it has to have a mental impact on them and ultimately the job they are capable of doing in our community. >> it is a morale killer. we see police officers across the country retiring early, a lot of people leaving as soon as they can. we had a couple incidents but i agree with the officer who just spoke, we never address the

issues of race because we are afraid of being labeled a racist. in new york city last year same thing, 90% of the victims were black or brown and 90% of the shooters black or brown, you don't hear that. there is a false narrative, there is a study in california, people think over 1000 young unarmed black men i kill year by law enforcement, that is hogwash. anyone who dies, police, black, brown or innocent civilians is a loss of life but the statistics are much smaller than that and has done damage to law enforcement across the country. jillian: 10 seconds left but i want to give you the final word. >> they are correct. they say everything they need to say and the sergeant says we are doing as we can in arizona. we want to get our voice back for law enforcement and tell the story of law enforcement people doing this every day so please check it out, americansheriff.com and the ways to take our voice back and
