president's answer, ashley into and tweeting kamala harris said we've been to the border. spoiler alert, she hasn't. the vp would rather meet with foreign leaders then border patrol agents who are dealing with these issues on american soil. during her trip the vice resident held meetings with the guatemalan and mexican presidents to discuss why there was such an influx of migrants and ways to make life better in latin america so people would not leave. harris has said she was focused on diplomatic solutions but the trip ended without any solid deals to enforce immigration or stem the flow though she did announce efforts to send aid money to the dismay of some progressives in our party the vice president until migrants do not come. that message as we continue to see heartbreaking images from the southern border, this video from customs and border patrol of the 5-year-old girl running along fencing after being abandoned alone. patrol agents were able to get to her and bring her to safety and are treating her and they will work to reunite her with her family.

chorus of others blaming the administration's mixed messages for the recent surge of migrants. todd: los angeles county sheriff's department documents the biggest drug bust in his history. mexican cartels are suspected to be apps, agents track down 7280 outhouses filled with illegal pot plants, found in the opening desert, they brought in massive bulldozers to raid the scene. one location had $50 million worth. that rate falls reports of cartel members threatening residents with firearms and the plantations hogging water from local farmers. 5 mexican nationals were taken into custody. jillian: a man accused of shooting a colorado police officer has been arrested. jacob is charged with attempted homicide after he opened fire on the officer, tried to arrest him after discovering he was a wanted felon. this includes arrests for drug possession and property damage. the officer is recovering at home after being released from the hospital. todd: three young girls in california ages 11, 12 and 13 are killed in a hit and run.

a fourth girl 14 years old remains in hospital in critical condition. authorities say they were in the road in a remote area when hit, two of those girls in wheelchairs, police say the driver and passenger got out of the truck and went away without helping the girls. police looking for the right now. jillian: i crime across the country turning us street into danger zones. todd: marion rafferty joins us with more on a miami drive-by shootings until two teens. >> the defund the police movement proving to be with violent crime up across the country and miami locals describe a war zone is two more teens are shot in a drive-by shooting. in new york, 10-year-old justin wallace was gunned down as he was leaving his and's home in queens. he was arrested and charged. the motive is unclear. shooting spiking in new york city at 68% compared to 2020.

fearful for themselves and the council itself is in turmoil not able to see clearly insufficient numbers to make decisions and afraid of i believe pressure from elements of the protest. almost like traumatized and unable to make life decisions. >> summit is a former city councilmember, what do you think of what the current city councilmembers are trying to do and go forward with the defunding the police movement. looking at statistics, homicides are up, 153 person, carjackings of 22%, you have community members suing the city and the mayor. it is a mask what is going on out there.

todd: historian's new book claims the second amendment was meant to protect and preserve slavery. jillian: a new article titled the 1619 project comes for the second argues it is a warped view of american history. a senior writer for the "national review" joins us to discuss. thank you for being here. where do you think we are with society right now with trying to figure out there are some believers of the 6019 project, some are firmly against it. where do we go with this in the future and what do you make of this book? >> there is a concerted effort to reimagine history in purely racial terms to be simplistic is part of the equation of american history and it is not something we should ignore but we also shouldn't reinvent history and revise it just to make our contemporary debates sound better and when it comes to the second amendment it is clear from the evidence that it was not about race.

it was not about preserving slavery. it was about a lot of other things, individual freedom, its history went back to issues that had nothing to do with slavery. trying to make it a racial issue is in today's debate people want to smear you basically and call your defense of the second amendment racist. todd: the author of the book carol anderson, here's her thesis, quote, it was designed and consistently been constructed to keep african-americans powerless and vulnerable. this is a professor at a good college who has been awarded a lot of awards for her writing. how dangerous is it these theories are making their way more and more into our mainstream consciousness? >> it is terribly dangerous. i believe the second amendment is one of the most important amendments. it allows people to defend themselves and all their other freedoms. her contention in the book is not backed up by a single piece

of contemporaneous evidence. not a single quote, not a single speech, not a single pamphlet. she could win 1 million awards but it won't make her right. especially these days hand out awards to people who tell them what they want to hear, not people who do good work and this book is not good work. jillian: she's the author of a number of other books. one vote no vote, how voter suppression is destroying our democracy and another one, white rage, the unspoken truth about our racial divide. when you look at the things she has written about it doesn't surprise you that this is also on her list. >> it happens in every kind of area of study where people sometimes think everything they have expertise on is the most important event and the driving force of every topic in the

effective in children and adults as well as i remind my patients and parents that their have been several million children in this country who have been affected by covid and several hundred of them who have died so kids can carry the virus, transmit the virus, become critically ill as well though that is rare. it is a possibility. we are seeing a 20% increase in the number of present cases in children so it is important we protect them as well is the older population. todd: a cleveland clinic study is a little bit confusing, no vaccine is needed for those who have covid 19 but here's the, quote, clarifying statement, we don't know how long the indian system will protect against reinfection or variance. we recommend those eligible receive the vaccine. it could guide vaccination efforts should there be a shortage of vaccine supply in areas where the vaccine supply -- what confused me is they are talking about they came up with this because of worries about

vaccine supply but you hear these government officials saying we have so much vaccine we don't know what to do with it and giving it to other countries, it is all over the place, when you hear this cleveland clinic study what is your guidance to your patients? >> this study is not peer-reviewed and it is misleading. it is not new information. if i have a patient that tested positive for covid i told him wait, you don't need to get your vaccine right away. the cdc says weighed about 90 days was i tell my patients it is reasonable to wait 6 months because remember, antibodies can last 6 to 8 months if you already had covid and some of my patients that i have taken care of their antibodies last 11 months. if you already have the antibodies of course you don't need the vaccine right away but we don't know how long you will

healing from the past that we need financial compensation from the government. >> one of the common refrains in support of reparations was articulated by one tulsa pastor who writes we cannot have true reconciliation and healing without reparations. reparations are biblical former of reconciliation and healing. i hope our elected officials have the courage to do what they know i feel is right. what is a better alternative to reparations in your estimation? you are a follower of christ and this pastor is a follower of christ. >> pastor your responsible, your job is to preach the word of god and if you don't teach forgiveness is the step the healing you are leading the flock astray. before we talk about people who weren't even alive back then to pay for the sins of the dead we have to take care of our own healing and the first step is
