afghanistan, and the taliban. 1 jewish democrats signed a letter saying her words cited deep seated prejudice comparison hamas to the taliban is as offensive as misguided. omar says she was not making a moral comparison between the u.s., israel, and terrorist groups. house democratic leadership thanked omar for her clarification but said her language, quote, undermines progress towards a future of peace and security for all. omar called her party's backlash shameful. the squad has stepped up to her defense, congresswoman rashida tlaib tweeted 'freedom of speech does not exist for women of color in congress. mischaracterization, public targeting. representative omar and those backing her said it would have been better for better for democrats to speak better to her rather than airing the party's

dirty laundry on twitter. steve, ainsley, and brian. brian: amazing lauren was able to update that story. good if you are watching network television. turns out this infighting among democrats that is so popular. when it's up fighting in republicans they don't run commercials so in to talk about liz cheney and donald trump. when you have ilhan omar and the squad get her back as they take on democratic leadership, none of the networks or the other cable networks decided to cover this at all. steve: what i think is really interesting, what laura just said at the end she said in the initial tweet exchange ilhan omar got mad and said hey, why didn't you guys call me privately on the phone? why did you have to issue a statement? then she accused the democrats of using anti-muslim tropes and attack the signer ofs of the letter. keep in mind the signers of the letter were nancy pelosi, steny

hoyer, congressman clyburn and others who have furious that she has knocked them hard to handle. nancy pelosi would like to fire her, you've got to figure, but she cannot because if she did, then the progressive wing comes right at her. brian: can't fire her. she got elected. steve: from the committee. ainsley: aoc said pretty sick and tired of the constant vilification. brad sherman who is jewish and a democrat out of california he said it's not news that the congresswoman would make outrageous and clearly false statements about america and israel. what's news worthy is she admits hamas is guilty of unthinkable atrocities. it's time for all of israel's detractors to condemn hamas and all of those of goodwill to reject any moral equivalence is i of israel and u.s. on one hand and the hamas on the other.

unfortunately very disappointed in the fact this hasn't been stamped out earlier in this process. steve: that's right. kevin mccarthy said omar's comments are anti-semitic and anti-american and nancy pelosi continued failure to address the issues in her caucus sends a message to the world that the democrats are tolerant of anti-semitism and sympathizing with terrorists. and here is the thing. she sits on the very powerful foreign affairs committee. and she is a vice chairman of one of the subcommittees and that is why some are saying wait a minute, this wasn't just a little tweet. this is how she actually felt. this is during a committee hearing where they actually set an agenda and try to pass stuff. so, for them to just say okay, we have moved on, they have not moved on. ainsley: when you talk to soldiers though, what is their reaction. i heard joey jones talked about it bombastic and anti-american and borders on anti-semitism. i would love to hear what pete hegseth thinks about this knows those men and women.

we have to deal with the problems that cause people to go to the border to flee to the border. and that is the root causes. ainsley: i'm telling you she is going to the border now because of all of this pressure. you have can tell she is tired of these questions. steve: absolutely. the white house, we haven't heard from cnn. the white house is perplexed that she was so ill prepared for easy questions. she was supposed to stay on message, i'm here to address the root causes. that's why i'm in guatemala and i'm dealing with mexico as well. but when lester holt asked her that simple question and then she said well, we have been to the border. and he said you haven't been to the border and she goes well i haven't been to europe either it just is -- and then she said i don't understand the point you are making. she has had a really, really bad week. and when she said there on univision to i will i can't who is based out in miami, she said i'm not finished. that's like when she snapped back at mike pence during the debate where she said i'm

speaking, which, you know, launched a whole bunch of t-shirts and memes and stuff like that. i have got a feeling this will not wind up on a t-shirt worn by democrats. ainsley: first month joe biden signed his executive order no more building of the wall no. more remain in mexico. donald trump put all of these into place and we saw the numbers showing them yesterday. in 2020 the numbers were way down compared to what they are right now. in fact, in may, the numbers just came out. the migrant encounters are up 674% compared to may last year. steve: gee, what's different? >> governor greg abbott said i'm sick of this. he said it was working before. it's not working now. this. so, guess what? i'm going to build our wall. listen. >> texas is going to begin increasing arrests that are being made. arresting people coming across the border. arresting people for trespassing and because i have declared it a disaster, that elevates the

penalty in showing the people we arrest for trespassing they will be serving time in jail. we are going to take this very seriously. we are going to do everything possible to secure our border, including building a border wall. the biden administration has abandoned the border. any pretense of border security, any pretense of enforcing our immigration laws. they have laughed it off just the exact same way that the vice president laughed it off in her interview the other day. so it is a joke to the biden administration. but we're not taking it as a joke in texas. brian: so henry cuellar also among -- he is a texas congressman. i don't believe that he is going to be upset that they are going to start building the wall. i hope legally they can. he came out yesterday and said the administration with all due respect talk about how mishandling unaccompanying minors and doing better. what about everybody else? what about the rest of the people. the individual adults coming here. we have to talk about that. we always talk about working with central america, guatemala, and mexico, will things we don't want to do or uncomfortable

border and she wouldn't do it. twist her arm? no, i want to go to the root causes. if you look at joe biden's original comments she is just going to be in charge of the border situation. steve: then they clarified. brian: she clarified. he didn't. ainsley: i think it's a little bit of both. i really do. they didn't know how to handle this and i think they realized they handled it the wrong way. brian: maybe joe biden should handle it the way he handled it when he was vice president. steve: i bet given she has had terrible week there is a change. announcement when she is going to the border next week. ainsley: it should be next week. steve: because now everybody is talking about it. greg abbott did something she hasn't done. he went down there to del rio grand valley and he actually talked to the border patrol agents and they all told him we are overrun. we need help. but kamala harris it's interesting how she is trying to fix these problems and find out the root causes. she needs to go down there and talk to the border patrol and see actually what they're doing down there to protect our

engulfed in flames. one person was hurt. the suspect is in custody. the cdc calls for an emergency meeting over heart problems reported in young people fully vaccinated against covid-19. 226 cases of heart inflammation have been reported in people ages 16 to 24 who have had both doses of the pfizer and moderna vaccine. though it appears to be impacting male teens in particular. the cdc says it's not clear if the issue is being caused by the shot. advisers plans to meet next week. a bipartisan group of 10 senators have reportedly reached a tentative agreement on infrastructure spending. that group consists of five democrats and five republicans. you can see them on your screen. the deal still needs to be presented to the senate republican conference and the white house. the agreement reportedly focuses only on traditional infrastructure knicks i had tax hikes and adds new spending closer to the president's target. now, to this. a wife calls out her husband for

safe and inclusive working environments regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. that same student said to the school board, wait a minute, this is going to mean eventually like boys are going to be allowed in my bathroom. i don't feel comfortable with that they said no, no, no, no. this is just an umbrella philosophy. so then she went back to the school board meeting but you said you promised me this wasn't going to happen and new policy is 83-50. in the draft it says students should be allowed to use the facility that correspondence to their gender identity. steve: right, in other words, however you identify right now, that's the bathroom that you would be able to use. if you were born a boy, but you identify now as a trans person or as a girl, then you get to use that one. for a 14-year-old girl to, i mean, that was very emotional to hear her talk and you could hear it in her voice about how freaked out she is about what is going to be like going to school

with many of the policy statements that his administration has been making since they assumed office it seems quite obvious the major threats united states is facing with with china a rising super power who seeking regional and global domination at the expense of western democracies and certainly this great democracy in america. we have a reemerging russia who wants to develop their own sphere of influence particularly among the former soviet union states in eastern and southern europe. that's why you see this aggressive military expansion because he wants to stop any further alignment with nato then also we have very aggressive iran not only seeking nuclear weapons but domination of the middle east using proxies to achieve that end and having achieved some measure of success in doing that.

i also think we do have a major domestic security issue with our southern border. i mean, it's obvious what has taken place there. it is not secure and that violates the sovereignty of the united states and it is a national security issue. those are the major threats i think we are facing. brian: so i imagine you could have knocked over people that are concerned with security with a feather when the president made those remarks in landing in england. that caused that question to come up with the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff general mark mele who i know you respect and he clarified yesterday. listen. >> climate change is a threat. but the president is looking at it in a much broader angle than i am. i'm looking at it from a strictly military standpoint and from a strictly military standpoint, i'm putting china-russia up there. brian: thank you. meanwhile, we are starting to loosen up some of the sanctions on iran because the 2015 deal that talks don't have any momentum. is that a good move?

constantly trying to make you believe that america is a bad place, not worthy of our praise at all, and what she does is she says something pretty outlandish and then she turns around and claims victim hood for it when people criticize her. this is a game that gets played and this is the pattern, and but hey, look. the bright side is at least she did say that there is something bad about hamas and taliban. now frankly, i wasn't expecting that so look, hey we are making small progress but in all seriousness, you can not place these entities, the united states, israel, hamas, and taliban in the same category. she did it deliberately. to say that this is a mistake, to say that we don't actually carefully think about everything we're going to say and everything we're going to tweet is nonsense. she of course thinks through it and she does believe that and if you go to any typical college classroom and listen to progressive students talk about the united states and how they feel about it you're going to hear this kind of thing and hear that the united states is bad,

that there's no premise and good things, but what is critical race theory about? what are all of these new movements about and the progressive wing? it's to show that america is not foundationally good. that's what they want to show and whether that's informed policy and current actions or whether that's a historical actions that we can't change. this is what they are always trying to perpetuate. that narrative that america is bad so it really shouldn't surprise us and we do have to call it out when we see it and we aren't going to let her play the victim on this. brian: you went to an ivy league school and got your masters after coming back from war. she went on to say it's shameful for colleagues who call me when they need my support now to put out a statement asking for clarification and just call the tropes of the statement are offensive so she's trying to also in my humble opinion let everyone know i might not be voting with my party if this continues because i get a lot of calls to stay on the same page because we only have a four -vote difference. isn't she? she's got a little bit of

believe that our military is a fundamentally racist organization? yes or no, please. >> well i won't give you a yes or no answer on that, senator, because it deserves more than a yes or no. >> do you believe that any member of the military should be treated differently based on their skin color and sex, again yes or no will do. >> no i do not believe that. >> okay. >> that is why we have diversity, equity and inclusion focused in the military. ainsley: what's your reaction to his answer? do you think it's racist, the military? >> i definitely do not think the military is racist. it's probably one of the least racist institutions in america, if not the world. it is a truly a place where your skin color, your gender, your background can be set aside and meritocracy takes hold and you move up based on your own skillset, based on your own judgment and your leadership qualities and you see that time and time again proven in a place like the military and what is inclusive about the military? well the fact that we all have

the same standards. the fact that we wear the same uniforms, the fact that we sing the same songs, right? so there's a cultural identity that takes place in the military which is actually really hard to emulate anywhere else but it happens in the military. that's what we should be talking about when we say the military is inclusive, but here is what they often say. we're going to do diversity and in clues training who could possibly be against that? well, because they are playing footsie with katrina pierson when they do that. it's not inclusive to be telling people about their whiteness and to be explaining to white people how they have privilege. i mean, some of the feedback we got when we put this out, so we have a whistleblower page on my website and when people fill that in it goes to me and it goes to senator cotton so that's where all of these examples came from that senator cotton brought up, and there's things like white privilege walks, so take two-steps forward if you're white, a step back if you're black. tell me how that's inclusive? tell me how that doesn't create divisions within our military. it really is problematic and i

was really, look the secretary of defense got to the right answers eventually, but to say that it's complicated whether or not the military is a racist institution, i'm sorry no it's not complicated. steve: yeah. >> the answer is simply no and he got there eventually but that you shouldn't have that and what he's doing is he's trying to appease the progressives on the left while also being honest with himself because i don't think he honestly believes that. brian: is there a benefit to highlighting the role of the union army and the emancipation? >> perhaps. that might be a little too esote ric for a lot of people brian: they're doing it. >> oh, you're saying in training i see what you're saying. brian: yeah. >> so, no, look. this is what we've heard with a few of these things. using critical race theory even though they don't call it critical race theory, doing things like the privilege walks, the other reason we dove into this wasn't just to look at critical race theory training

perhaps being put on our troops. i mean, i was looking at this long ago, when they took the ethos and made it gender neutral out of nowhere just for some reason. we were letting transgender soldiers go on cnn and politicize their behavior there, and just the fact that we've changed the policy to say look, we're going to use taxpayer dollars to allow gender transitions and make you un deployable. make you unable to deploy and probably force you to be medically retired and then you'll be on the taxpayer dollar forever, so there's just a lot of concerning trends and don't let me forget, the extremism training they were shoving down everyone's throats and that was highly bias. none of that extremism training never mentioned blm, antifa, only mentioned conservative- related extremism and it's causing a serious decline in morale, soldiers feel like they can't speak up, that they feel like if they do they will be host rail entitlement

with these migrant, these child detention centers, which still,. geraldo: well that is absolutev. i go back to the point that with the drone technology, with our eyes on the border in realtime, we know exactly how many people are coming across every half hour, every hour. it is impossible to deny, so if her intention and not going to the border was not to bring the eyes of the american people to this very unsavory situation, then she has failed, because now , when she speaks, they run in the other side of the screen just as we're doing right now, pictures of what's happening at the border that she refuses to visit. so i think it really is very unfortunate. this is not a serious effort to bring the american people, you know, up to speed on what's happening at the border or more importantly, what's being done to stem the flow, what's being done to deal with this crisis.
