what we're teaching our kids and where the focus lies. because while we focus on race and privilege and sexual orientation and transgender, we're taking our eyes off the very things that prepare our children for adulthood. the u.s., all the money we spent and we allocate to the department of education, all the advanced resources, we're 30th in math, harris. you want to know why u.s. companies turn to asia and india when they want young adult workers? you have your answer. we're taking our eye off the ball. those countries, those regions are preparing their kids for adulthood and we're focused on the other things and parents are fed up. >> harris: morgan, kayleigh, two new moms. i say that because you are know cussed probably for the first time in your lives on what would i do. morgan? >> i think it all comes down to a matter of choice for the parents. here's what i mean by that.
9:05 am
you know, school boards and teachers need to understand that they don't raise children. parents raise children. i think about florida where kayleigh and i are both from. we've had school choice in florida over 20 years. as i was watching a -- jeb bush was talking about this earlier today. he's the governor that brought in school choice. as i was watching that loudon county exchange, this is what i thought. i see a lot of frustrated parents that want to raise their children and may not have a choice about where they send their kids to school. we saw it during the pandemic, the frustration that we see from parents is that they haven't been able to send their kids to school and then when they can send them to public school, they may be teaching them something that is just in their mind an indoctrination. also going back to florida. governor ron desantis says that he will require high school students, putting a bill forward, to be taught about the evils of communism.
9:06 am
so over and over again, in our home state of florida, the governors are getting it right. >> harris: i'm curious how we got here. did we just quietly slide in to this or did you -- with the former administration, was this a talk or was this a subject? did you see us headed in this direction? >> kayleigh: no a good question. we didn't see it going in this direction. this movement is embolden because now you have a democratic administration. they feel a tail wind behind them. it's a slow phase happening in our schools and we have to broaden this out what is going on outside of loudon county here in new york city where parents are paying $55,000 to send their kids to the dalton schools. 6-year-olds were shown a cartoon about self-pleasure in their anatomy, 6 years old. this happened in connecticut as well. in loudon county, a christian student was forced to sit in a broom closet because he didn't want to partake or be taught about transgender policy. that should be at home, not for

a teacher, this is a scary place in society where kids are being taught a set of values and principles by teachers when all they need is a education. i'm done with private school, public school. ald my old girl's catholic high school, you wouldn't have been lectured or morality like this. >> it's interesting. the supreme court decision that came out had to do with free speech by students. the supreme court said public schools are the nurseries of democracies here. that is what flew in my head as you were speaking that. that's right. she set the landscape well for what this board meeting is. to flush it out further. 259 parents and members of the community signed up to speak at the board meeting. 51 were allowed to speak. >> harris: they shut their mic down. >> emily: that's my point. no wonder parents are furious. they're not being counted and the decisions made about what to teach the kids and the decisions on how to affect the children and their voices are not being heard. in the board meeting, parents bought up the issues.
9:08 am
it wasn't just about the critical race theory. they brought up the fact that the child was held in a closet about while being taught transgender policies. they brought up the judge's ruling about reinstating tanner cross who spoke up against issues that went against his faith. he said we want you to stop your appeal. stop wasting our taxpayer dollars that our children are members of this district and in doing so, they brought up the fact that there's many of those school board officials that are being recalled right now. the parents said resign. we want our tax dollars to stop paying your salary and paying for this recall effort. there was more. a host whole of issues going on there in that toxic school board. the parents are on and i feel for them especially those that have a rest records. >> harris: we just got this in from mike emanuel. he was at that meeting. he joins us on "faulkner focus" last hour. he wants to know, the sheriff's department said it was the loudon county school superintendent that declared the meeting an unlawful assembly.
9:09 am
that is an interesting detail. we needed to know that. directed its attendees to leave, that the school superintendent and the board. advised those that stayed would be changed with trespassing. the sheriff's office said it was the superintendent calling the shots, not law enforcement when it came to shutting it down. >> emily: progressive left members of the community doxed conservative members and published where they lived and their names. that's what they said shame on you as a superintendent as he shut it down. they're trying to silence the conservative voices. >> harris: it's interesting. it gets penned on the cops. they do the arresting. the question by local media in virginia and maybe it will attract network like our mike emanuel is there. the questions have to be asked of the school board now. do you want parents to get involved or don't you? if you're going to grade their answers, what happens when

listen, back to the congresswoman's tweet that you mentioned at the beginning where this mayor should go to china. all joking aside, actually, he should talk to the people of hong kong. when i was a state department spokesperson, the first summer we saw the protests in hong kong because freedom and democracy were being taken away. one day i looked, we saw the people of hong kong holding american flags. to them that's what democracy meant. that's what freedom meant. so for this mayor, i have visuals of hong kong where you're not able to say the pledge and maybe he will think differently. >> emily: that's right. kayleigh? >> kayleigh: yesterday we talked about an alternate in the olympics that didn't want the american flag over her shoulders. she wanted to burn it. the day before that, we take about macy gray calling the flag dated and divisive. president trump used to say, if you don't have borders, you don't have a country.
