the world achesd killed so many people. yesterday, mr. paul was asking -- actually they're both doctors, dr. paul was asking him about the lab and funding and whether or not the lab did gain of function which is where you make things more contagious. and you knew it was going to be a battle back and forth because there paul started by the way dr. fauci, if you lie during this testimony you are going to go jail. ainsley: well, dr. fauci is part of the nih and they gave $600,000 to ecohealth alliance which paid the wuhan lab, according to rand paul, which paid the wuhan lab to study coronavirus, bat coronavirus and how they would affect humans. and they argued about it. watch this. steve: man, did they. >> dr. richard ebright, a molecular biologist from rutgers described this we search in wuhan as: the wuhan lab used nih funding to con be structure novel sars related coronavirus

brian: well, he is absolutely walking the tight rope between answering the question and acting outraged. for one thing you know anthony fauci is covering things. we have seen him every day 20 times a day for the last year and a half. i have never seen him so rattled to the core. what senator rand paul said was and so important that we play the beginning of this because everybody else is playing the end. when they shut off his microphone and anthony fauci is able to say you are the one lying and people are playing that and go wow, anthony fauci really got mad at rand paul. here's the thing, everything rand paul said was correct. what anthony fauci and he is not what rand paul says. he said you, through the nih, through a subcontractor paying the wuhan lab who, in turn, were doing gain of function research and, therefore, you are not telling the truth when you say you didn't. they said well, this isn't the type -- this isn't the type of experiment that played into the pandemic, well, that wasn't the

question. did you say or did you not say that you had nothing to do with gain of function research? if you said you didn't, you are not telling the truth. and i believe and ainsley, i told you about this book, it's called chaos under the sun josh rogin not many people think "the washington post" is a left wing organization but that's who he writes for. wrote the book comprehensive book prior to the pandemic and through the pandemic the relationship between china, the wuhan lab and the u.s. he said from his twitter lab the nih was funding gain of function research research in wuhan but the nih pretended it didn't meet the gain of function research to meet their own mechanism. sorry, not sorry if that doesn't fit your narrative. rand paul was right. fauci was wrong. even though the headlines tell you that fauci was outraged and he put rand paul in his place. not if you are paying attention. steve: and if you see the whole thing and it's available on foxnews.com, mr. fauci, and you heard him and dr. fauci and you heard him at the end, he said it

at the beginning touring his preamble that nih officials, meaning the lawyers, all looked at it and it does not gain of function definition. ainsley: they're the ones giving the money. steve: his lawyers found a loophole where he is able to say you know, by our definition this ain't it. ainsley: but rand paul, he said there have been thousands of emails that point back to you that say you were worried about this and you were warned about this could have come from the lab and originally he said no, it couldn't be from the lab and that was back in -- that was early like may, april, may, 2020 and then a few months later he said there is a possibility but i don't really think so but it is a possibility. rand paul pointed to this paper that's being talked about that book that brian and i are reading. the paper talks about producing a coronavirus which means it was altered by man in gain of function and paper written by wuhan scientists. rand paul was on with sean

hannity last night and he says he wants a criminal investigation. listen. steve: uh-oh. >> i will be sending a letter to the department of justice asking for a criminal referral because he has lied to congress. we have scientists that will line up by the dozens to say that the research he was funding was gain of function. he is doing this because he has a self-interest to cover his tracks and to cover his connection to wuhan lab. ainsley: fauci said you are implying what we did was responsible for covid deaths. steve: well, it seems like it leaked from the lab. it seems like the nih funded it. it seems like there gain of function experiments going on. so it will be great to have somebody -- ainsley: why is he the top expert if he is with the nih and the nih is giving money to this lab? brian: that's a great question. here is another great question. why are we the only ones that seem to care? this -- doesn't this pandemic affect millions of people around the globe? isn't this guy the face of the

[laughter] what do you do to a slave if you do nothing but arrest them when we flee. we fled texas. if they want to arrest me. go ahead, i'm ready to be arrested. brian: i mean, if you talk about an election in which the majority takes control, i mean, could you imagine if a republican stood up and said i'm not going to take this anymore in the house because we are -- we are outranked by five members so we're in the minority? that's coined of the way the texas legislature and every state legislature works there is a majority and minority. as the governor pointed out yesterday, the ones that stayed in the senate, the democrats, they actually are working on different things and they're getting some headway in the election legislation. but the ones that ran aren't going to get anything and when they come back again, they are going to get arrested and they're going to reconvene the special session as soon as they arrive. has anyone thought this out? and in terms of a super spreader event, remember, that's how they characterized the supreme court justice nomination of amy coney barrett because some tested

positive after that rose garden event. what about now? isn't this a super spreader event? that's what peter doocy brought up. >> is there any concern that this trip that was intended to advocate for voting rights is now a super spreader event in washington? >> well, i would say that's not a characterization we're making from here. we certainly understand there will be break through cases, even vaccines that are incredibly affective are not full proof. pete: now that covid-19 after contact with those democrats has reached the white house, what is your message to these texas democrats? >> our message continues to be thanks for standing up for voting rights and the rights of americans to have their voices heard at the voting booth and we appreciate their efforts in that regard. brian: and thanks for giving everyone covid-19. did that come out at all? steve: and she also revealed for the first time that other white house staffers have tested positively for covid at the white house. they were supposed to tell the

press when it happened. she admitted to it yesterday. apparently. brian: transparent most transparent administration ever. how did that happen? steve: apparently the super spreader event where the white house person and speaker's office person were infected was at a reception with the texas delegation on the roof of a hotel in washington, d.c. brian: can i justed a this? remember that president biden keeps telling everyone, everyone that gets this virus it's because we are getting this virus because this is a virus, a variant that spread because of the unvaccinated? everybody supposedly that we're talking about now is vaccinated. and if you want people to trust the actual vaccination you would say that the symptoms are milder but they do break through but instead they want to just blame facebook or other outlets because of that. steve: they do testing every day at the white house. but not everybody at the white house is actually vaccinated. brian: which is dumb because if

you have the vaccine, you should nod be tested every day. steve: the thing regarding those members of the texas delegation, they have told us that they were all vaccinated but they haven't -- or the people who were infected were fully vaccinated. but they haven't revealed the names. a couple people of self-identified but we don't know for sure if they really have been all vaccinated. ainsley: to your point about the rose garden ceremony is hypocrisy. why is it when donald trump in offers it's a super spreader. when joe biden is in office. steve: they are not going to talk about it. ainsley: ari fleischer talked about how this has backfired. >> it was team biden who did refer to trump events particularly the rose garden ceremony with amy coney barrett as a super spreader event. they are willing to say that when the super spread something done by another party as opposed to rising up and saying covid is covid. it doesn't matter what party you are or who you are. as for the texas legislature, it's hard to imagine, bret, a

bigger self-designed failure. i mean, they fled their jobs, they left their workplace, they came to washington to alarm people for a cause and it's all backfired. and gotten them sick. and they are not going to be able to get out their message anymore. when they go back to texas they will get arrested. so, if you wanted to design an event that failed, this is how you do it. brian: a disaster. and they accomplished absolutely nothing. steve: it's completely backfired and because they have all been exposed to the covid, they can't go home. they got to self-isolate. they are hold up in their hotel. brian: do you know how much this is going to cost beto o'rourke. is he writing a check from super pac of $200 for each hotel room minimum a day along with a private jet. along with some taxpayer money and per diem, i don't know how big their appetites are i know taco bell is having trouble getting meat. higher give more money.

been predictable. the reason why i say that is all of these mayors of these cities have actually significantly increased their personal security over these times so, they have taken the action to fully protect themselves. they have actually increased their personal details. their personal security details during these times. but they have actually defunded the security on the street. the law enforcement and police officer on their street. brian: unbelieve it or not the most vulnerable are exposed. and the most -- and the elected officials are anything but. the city spent over 17 million between 2015 and 2020 to guard unnamed city officials in chicago. in san francisco, 12 million is spent for city officials between 2015 and 2020. get this in san diego. 2021, 2.6 million spent for 12 full time officers to protect the mayor. why are they more important than every day americans?

>> and that's the thing that's so outrageous about it. outrageous, political. and unfortunately, we all hear these, you know, this outrage about black lives mattering and unfortunately it's black lives that are taking the disproportional plight of a lot of these lives being snuffed out as a result of this urban violence of criminals that are actually if due to gang violence. a lot of these bullets and, of course, a lot of the toddlers and children bearing the brunt of this kind of violence in our streets. brian: up to people like you and everybody else to stand up and speak out because a lot of them cannot and don't have the mega phone. a lot of them don't have their lives. in the cities where the mayors defunded police but also pay for private security, the biggest and the most violent.

chicago, san francisco is a tragedy. new york city, i have been living in it it's ugly and embarrassing. baltimore maryland is almost a lost cause and san diego i just told you. kevin, how was your message and your organization different from blm? >> well, would he actually advocate instead of defund the police. we say refund the police. we actually say that a lot of these department and actually, you know, a lot of these cities are actually refunding the police. they are actually now reprioritizing law enforcement. we actually advocate for as opposed to the administration turning a blind eye to black plight, the plight within our major cities and disproportional plight within the black community due to urban violence. we actually advocate that the administration actually increased border security. here is the issue. we do have a red carpet with

different country in chicago beginning of the month july 1st there was a 1-year-old car seat with her mom and she was shot. the bullet went through her head. she had emergency surgery. the bullet is still floneld her head. it did not puncture her brain. she is still alive thank goodness after 15 days in the hospital. her mom says chicago is so dangerous that she is taking her little girl out of that city. listen. i love the city but i can't stay here anymore. it is happening everywhere but chicago is the worst. it's the worst. steve: yeah, and what happened to her child where she was still strapped in her car seat, apparently three guys started shooting and it's another one of those cases. we heard about this. this is what happened in washington, d.c. outside the nationals game.

it's happening everywhere. here are some of the images. these brazen people who apparently do not fear the police are just shooting out of cars or getting out of cars and shooting. but, also, it's the prosecutors as well because there are a number of jurisdictions where the prosecutors are going okay, yeah, you caught them we're not going to go ahead and file charges and we're not going to prosecute the case. so, they know not only will they probably not get caught but they won't be prosecuted. ainsley: the mom was shot seven years ago in chicago she was sitting in her car and someone walked up and started spraying bullets and one hit her. brian: friday over in d.c. you mentioned a 6-year-old was shot. we talked about that. 18-year-old accused of shooting a kid over in arizona. so, over and over again, you see all these cities with all these shootings amongst kids are the victims, innocent victims, obviously. toddlers, clearly. kevin mcgary is with an

organization called every black life matters. he can't believe more people aren't concerned about this. he is. listen to what he is saying and he contrasted it with those so-called mayors or officials that want to defund the police and expose these kids but yet get private security. outrage has been really missing and no one is holding these mayors of these windy cities accountable. has been predictable. the reason why i say that is all these mayors of these have actually significantly increased their personal security over these times. so, they have taken the action to fully protect themselves, they have actually increased their personal details personal security details during these times. but they have actually defunded the security on the street, the law enforcement and police officer on their streets.

steve: so forbes magazine looked into it. there are 20 big cities run by democrats, all of them, and they have talked about defunding the police or they are proposing to defund police, and so while they are talking about that in private, behind the scenes. they have got private security details forbes says 2020 -- guard unnamed city officials at the same time that lori lightfoot cut 400 cops. and then in san francisco, they spent 12 million during the same time to protect the mayor and here in new york city, bill de blasio cut a billion dollars from the police budget and when asked hey, how much are you spending on his private security detail they never got back to forbes they don't that number released. >> forbes says $358,000 when he

traveled the country during the presidential campaign. steve: that was just to iowa. ainsley: his wife and son have security key tail. his daughter canceled her protection a few years ago. brian: she was actually caught throwing things at police during one of the riots. did he win, de blasio? i forgot. ainsley: no, unfortunately. brian: he didn't win the presidency. steve: he didn't get 1% in iowa. brian: i'm surprised people didn't vote against him let alone for him. steve: and the thing, brian, that makes this so jaw-dropping and started in chicago. since the beginning of this year. 212 kids under 17, 212 kids have been shot in the city of chicago. that place is simply not safe for kids. brian: out in california, i have a friend story, can i share it? ainsley: sure. you have a friend? brian: a few of my friends went to pebble beach went golfing and drop off one of the guys at the

airport and they had some time. went to san francisco to the what were. in 12 minutes their luggage was stolen, windows were smashed at a rent a car. everything gone. and when they returned the rent acar, they said they saw all the smashed windows and they say this has been happening nonstop. all these people break in and stealing stuff it's chaos in california. steve: that is why yesterday we were talking about how san francisco is swarming police to the tourist areas they don't want what happened to your friends and somebody like to you say it on tv. wait, san francisco, the tourist areas are not safe? just like in new york city? i'm not going to go to either place. brian: adam carolla tweeted this out thanks to prop 4237 you shoplift under $1,000 you will not be prosecuted. guess what? people are taking about 900 bucks on a regular basis running rampant through stores.

about it you can understand the frustration. ainsley: it doesn't make sense. you can't steal something up to $950 and be able to walk away with the merchandise. someone had to pay for that originally. brian: that's what you voted for. those are the prosecutors you put in office. those are the mayors that you put in chark. that's what you have allowed them to do to law enforcement. you have emasculated them and either they turn in their badge and sit there and say i'm going to do what i need to do in order to get my 20 years in. steve: when you look at that you wonder who would ever want to go into business. why would you want to have a restore store full of stuff if it's less than 1,000 bucks it could be gone tonight. ainsley: was it new york where if you rioted and broke into a shop, you got off scot-free. steve: a lot of people who did the looting here in new york city last year all the charges dropped. ainsley: even though they were on video doing and it could be identified. steve: just forget about that. we have other stuff to do not it going to prosecute that. brian: talk about the pandemic as it relates to illegal

immigration. steve: also more non-prosecution. brian: unbelievable to see over 1 million illegals come to our border and get n a time in which we have a global pandemic and almost impossible to travel to places like canada or for a while overseas and to many countries, we are still not allowed in. when it comes to our border i don't see anything. i don't care about if i'm a member of the biden administration. and now you cannot say on one side of your mouth covid-19 case number one is the only focus we should have at the same time letting in detainees who you have no idea the medical history who if they get, in they hop on buses go to bases and are let out in the middle of our country. how many are testing positive in the rio grand valley for covid-19? well, of the 135 detainees they tested positive in the first two weeks of july. remember, 188,000 came n june. that's a 21-year high.

overall, in july already, that's a 900 percent increase compared to last 14 months. you are worried about us going to school and 2-year-olds wearing mask to stop the spread for vaccinated people at the same time you are saying come one, come are all from over 100 countries at our southern border. you can't wrap your head around such idiocy. ainsley: numbers are staggering if you compare january numbers to now look at this, almost 1,000 came from mexico. northern triangle almost 28,000. nicaragua and south america almost 5,000. now look at it, mexico 65,000. brian: let title 42 evaporate. ainsley: look at the northern triangle almost 76,000. steve: we have known people are come from mexico and northern triangle. the key is the bottom number. look at people coming from south america and nicaragua. beginning of the year it was 4,000. now it is, what, six times that. it's 35,000 people.

>> that's okay. steve: go ahead, ainsley. ainsley: tell us about the town hall today. charles: that's not even a fraction of the real story and, of course, i was in the military. i served, i didn't get a chance to -- to fight or anything but my father was -- he fought in vietnam and i watched him, his whole adult life never get the jobs he thought he was worthy of. honestly, i've had the opportunity to interview ceo's, politicians, everyone, my father still one of the most intelligent people that i have ever met. it's not just about people in the military vets getting jobs, it's about them getting jobs that are worthy of them and having upside opportunity and being welcome back in opportunity and these are things that joey knows firsthand. i'm a solution-oriented person, i'm going to show you where to go, what resources are out there and truly help and not just going to be what was us and it's

about solutions and making things right. steve: we heard there's millions of jobs that are unfilled right now. so many people are saying, hey, i will take the lucrative unemployment benefits and sit on the couch. for the most part, military members are driven people, they want to go out and work. >> you hit on a key aspect. there's a big turnover. aside from veteran unemployment, there's veteran turnover. companies say you know what, i want to hire 100 veterans and hire them and within a year or two years, three years all of the veterans turn over and leave the job. either because they didn't prepare the veterans for the job they were qualified for and the bigger problem you have to have a culture of mission and the culture that regardless if our job is to move boxes, we are doing it for this purpose and that's what veterans key on. we are used to crappy tasks and long days but we know it's for a greater purpose. and so for me a lot of my work has been helping veterans

understand the world they are getting into and not just get employers to hire veterans in mass but helping employers understand what kind of culture veterans thrive in. brian: sometimes the skill they acquire in the military don't necessarily transfer over and if you're in the infantry and you're fighting and you come back and look at new york city to find a job, how do you find that, how do you get people's skills and a job? >> the great thing is that there are so many resources out there. there's so many out there. brian: within the military? charles: within the military, coming out of the military, post military, all kinds. we found a whole will the of them. employers have to understand as well, listen, i honestly believe in my life that what i've seen 95% of the people can do 95% of the jobs. so first and foremost if you have someone who is motivated, someone who is intellectually curious, someone who wants to learn, all those other things can be accommodated, that's what you have with military vets. ainsley: joey, tell us how you

found a job when you came back to the united states? >> a lot better than talking than taking hard bombs. i got injured in afghanistan taking bombs apart and so when i came back i didn't have legs and i needed to go to school, they actually brought college to walter reed. i was in one of those gogo chairs, my arms didn't work and i was speaking papers into a dragon device and i didn't know what for, i ended up in georgiatown eventually and the work i got into was nonprofit work. how i found the job, i started helping folks and eventually somebody want today pay me for it. people ask how i got to where i can come on tv or help the nonprofits, i did it for free for six years. steve: look at that. charles, there are jobs pretty much for everybody of every background? charles: absolutely. you referenced it earlier, sadly it's met by the biggest defacto

brian: a lot of people that don't want anything to do with that and rule 50 that says you should not kneel at the podium. who know what will happen. milwaukee beat phoenix ending 50-year dry spell, your take? >> yanis is the face of the nba. lebron after a long reign has been surpassed immigrant from greece that didn't play basketball until he was 13 year's old. he stayed and won in a small market, milwaukee, when a lot of the top players in the nba are decamping for east and owes coast big cities. he said he would win a championship there. he's beloved. he's a phenomenal face for the nba going forward and i think the nba will be a lot better with him as the signature product as opposed to lebron james. brian: so unbelievable.
