am saying there is a risk when florida's infection rate if it was a separate country it would be the highest infection rate in the world, that is a moment where for a temporary period, some school district says it so high here, let's wear masks for the next two weeks, why is the governor saying no? >> greg: i'm so confused by the statistics, i see the case rate and hospitalization of kids is roughly the same as it has been for a while, but the caseload goes up. so the media focuses on the caseload because it is mushrooming? >> dagen: at the cdc had to amend the florida covid numbers because it was overreporting the daily cases. i will shut up. >> dana: that's fine. >> greg: dana there is a concept with the prison of two ideas. if so you either have to be an masks work or masks don't work. we know that they are not 100% effective, but we also know it is not 0. it is somewhere in the middle, but the news does not like that.

know is that there is one dead police officer, one woman who spent potentially decade serving the city, protecting the city, she is gone. >> austin: and was a great officer by all accounts. i live and work on the southside of chicago. i've been there 26 years, if somebody killed a police officer, absolutely they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. i think in chicago as in much of the country the pandemic has led to an increase in both the violent crime and nonviolent crimes, and for some reasons we understand and some need don't. i think that that is a separate issue from one of the controversies in the city of chicago is that the mayor has established kind of a civilian control of the police force that they can investigate, and that

was because of some pretty public abuses on the part of the police department. i don't think there is anything wrong with the basic proposition which is let's go after criminals and let's not have police officers abusing their power, and i think we can do both of those things if we are getting to a situation where d.a.s will preannounce we will not prosecute you. we will not put you in jail for committing a crime, i do think you will get more crime and they better think that throughout. >> dagen: by dame a -- dana, the demoralization of police officers lead to recruitment prices. not only people quitting the force but recruitment is a problem. the mayor and governors will not to lock up, violent ones. >> dana: senator risch tom cotton will probably make some heads explode with his new op-ed, and the title is

"national under incarceration" and he is making the case that there are a lot of people that should be in jail and arguably these two might have been two of them. and there is just a total disrespect for the rule of law, total disregard for it. when you look at the situation they had expired tags, red flag for police officers and that's why they got pulled over. before they could even figure out what was going on in the car, that's when they shot them. so when he talks about our under incarceration problem, there might be some merit to that. before in rikers island, thousands of prisoners, and with mail reform -- they are violent criminals out on the street, but somebody punches you in the nose, brian, they are not going to stay in jail out for an hour.

>> brian: they will be out before you are. >> brian: i'm first in line. >> brian: only a minute left, but to add to this, chicago is unbelievable, it's emblematic of everything wrong, you have a parent saying oh, my goodness, my 21-year-old and my 22-year-old are probably going to be in jail for life and they are involved in the murder of a cop and may be a second who got shot in the head who stole a phone and got so upset that he was drinking and driving and when he was told to put down the drain, he would not do it. the mom showing up saying how could my kids do that? she comes out vilifying the police, it seems like on the surface this 22-year-old only had a shot, so how do we stop crime today and how do we stop another generation of killers and give them options before they become teens, before they realize that there is more to life and then the life that they are seeing around them. somehow we have to get into the inner cities and provide some of the guidance that the parents are not able to or are not just
