states like texas and arizona. and the ones who are willing to stay, they are starting to fight back. they are launching recall efforts against the radical das in san francisco and los angeles and ten eyes, will hear from the leaders of both movements. plus, then do some recall election is a week away. tonight you will see my interview with larry elder, the leading candidate to replace newsom. from the streets of south central where he grew up. and we are going to bring you angle investigations into the homelessness, into the drug abuse that is rampant here and covid mandates and a whole lot more. but first, as california goes, that is the focus of tonight's ankle. angle. if you want to know where america is headed, if we don't turn the tide against biden socialist regime, look no further than right here in california. i brought the show here because

americans need to understand where we are headed with the democrats in charge. for better or for worse, the golden state has always led the way culturally, politically, and yes, morally. the american dream in many ways, it began right here in california. it wasn't just the land of sunshine, surfing usa and beautiful people, but from the gold rush the tech boom it was a place that epitomized america's potential and limitless opportunity. but after a decade of democrats dominating every branch of government here, it is all unraveling. today's california consists of a tiny sliver of super wealthy people, a growing underclass, and a rapidly shrinking middle class that is fed up and running for the exit. so for all the claims of being progressive, california, though, is among the most regressive states in the country. over the past decade, 80% of the states jobs have paid under

median wage. half of which are paid less than $40,000 and most are in poorly paid personal services or hospitality jobs. even some of the state's most prestigious companies like google, any lower and even mid level workers live in mobile home parks. others sleep in their cars. and thousands upon thousands of people now live on the streets. we are going to take you inside the homelessness crisis and swamping the city later on in the show. it is so bad that even democrat voters may finally be waking up. let me work. let me pay my taxes but provide wheat foul with safety and not be accosted by homeless people. this is governor newsom's fault. technically, how can i even answer that. he is the leader. everything starts from the top. and it goes down. >> laura: democrats should be very worried because they are

defund the police crusade has led to skyrocketing crime. in l.a., murders are up nearly 24%, shootings are up almost 38%. san francisco where we were just earlier this week, shootings are up a hundred 5% during the first half of this year alone. so police are understaffed and outgunned. at the same time, we left left wing das to run amok. evil like chess a beating and san francisco and george gascon here in l.a. total travesties pray they are more focused on letting the criminals walk free than seeing them locked up and off the streets. >> the people we are resting on probation, on the electronic ankle monitoring by the probation department and are still does not deter them from going out and committing these crimes. because they know the district attorney won't do anything. >> laura: so it's a revolving door of criminality? >> absolutely. often times these people are arrested will be back out of

jail before the police officers are done writing their police reports. >> laura: that's just the crime in the homelessness. democrats policies from lockdowns and high taxes punish small business owners and entrepreneurs as well. and when governor gavin newsom is asked to explain why so many people are leaving for the red states, he just gets the fifth wow dismissive and defensive. >> we have better economic outcomes. we have policies for the first time in decades. everybody outside the state is [bleep] about the state because of our success. >> laura: go back to plump jack winery, my friend. and by the way, they also literally can't keep the lights on or water running here. under newsom, the state saw its first rolling blackout since 2001 thanks in part to insane left-wing climate policies. the potential supply shortfall of about 2.6 million households

radical policies. they put the violent criminals above victims and their families. just last night and next guest, andre, a leader in this movement. her son was brutally murdered back in 2018. he was repeatedly stabbed, beaten, and then he was thrown off a cliff. his body was found two days later. and now, thanks to gascon's reforms, none of his killers were actually face life without parole. desiree joins me now. desiree, i know people will say i'm sorry for your loss. i don't know if it helps, but it's a desperately side and infuriating story. and as a mother, my heart does break for you. i'm so sorry. but your story could perhaps make a difference here. tell us what you're feeling giving what you are seeing happened day in and day out at the hands of george gascon.

>> i am feeling -- first of all, thank you for having me. i'm feeling let down by the justice system. my son was brutally beaten and tortured to death back in may 2018. in the five killers involved in the murder are no longer -- as you mentioned -- are no longer facing life without parole or the death penalty. these gentlemen are now facing 25 years and only having to do 80% of that time which is 20 years. that is not enough. my son has a sentence. the sentence of death. i will never see my son again. how are they -- how is it even a thought that they will be out in time to create families of their own and do everything that my son was cheated from? so i feel let down by george gascon. i feel it is personal now. i feel that him reflecting the victims is personal and for him not to reach out to me is personal. i think he is a danger to l.a. county. point blank. >> laura: what was the reaction of your son's murderers

when they found out that they would be getting out in 20 years? >> it was sickening, actually. my daughter and i sat in court. one of them gave a fist bump to his attorney. and his attorney looked at him like a good job and it was like smiling from year-to-year. it is done all in front of me. which was a slap in the face. it just goes to show you where we are at. criminals are now considered victims. what are we doing here? it's the other way around. i feel that they are getting more justice then we the victims are and it is not right at all. >> laura: i want to show some good news here, desiree. which is the current polling about this george soros supported d.a., mr. gascon. 25% approval rating.

840.8% disapproval rating. and 61% say they will vote for an unnamed alternative candidate. your message to democrat women in the state who just can't feel like they can vote -- vote against a democrat that is in office like george gascon because he need about 580,000 signatures by october 27th to get this recall in order. so what is your message to them tonight? >> i am a democrat. we need to all wake up. this is not a political stance. this is not a political effort. this is about a fight for what is right and what is wrong. we need to wake up. get together as a community as angelenos and get this man out of office. i'm telling you all, you do not want to be in my place. you do not ever want to lose your son. you do not ever want to be a

have to keep in mind if you want to save the state. we are going to find out if the golden state turns red. right now, 46 candidates are running to replace newsom. should the voters decide to read, there is one question, that is number one. question number two is who do you want to replace him? the stand out, the guy leading his larry elder. he's a radio talk show host. i spoke at length of him today as we toured the south central neighborhood where he grew up. here's what we learned. larry elder grew up in this neighborhood of south central l.a. he graduated from crenshaw high school right behind me. he ended up becoming an outspoken radio host, columnist, you see them all the time on television. are now, he wants to be the man who replaces liberal california governor gavin newsom. larry, everyone says the odds are against you. what is the magic sauce you have? >> i was born and raised here. i am from the hood. i went to crenshaw high school. i can talk about issues like choice in public schools in a

way that gives me more credibility than the average public end. >> laura: the crime in the state is just devastating. as governor, what do you do there given prop 47 which is already on the books? anything under $150 who are not seeing a lot of police have cavity. >> i want to release 20,000 prisoners early because of the coronavirus and based on stats most of them are likely to reoffend. gavin newsom had something like 70,000 people released early. many of them have been violent offenders. i want to die. i won't have this false narrative route to get black people. 81% of black people according to a recent poll so they want policeman power to be increased. this is just common sense stuff. it's one of the reasons why the majority of hispanics want this man recalled because of lack of choice in schools and because of crime. the people that it is appointed by, the very black and brown people and love the state of the care about. >> laura: you have been the subject of not surprisingly of a

lot of attacks from the "los angeles times," local california opponents and so forth and nationally accusing you of everything from brandishing a gun to using the n-word. it goes on and on. your reaction to the specific charges. >> i've never brandished a gun loaded or unloaded at anybody in my life. regarding the other allegations made, they are almost too silly to respond to. i've also be called the black face of white supremacy. >> laura: that's one of the top hits on google. which means you are a threat to somebody. >> that's right. i've also been accused of saying women are stupid. they are referring to an article that i wrote 2,000 where i was quitting a study from the annenberg school which is a left-wing school. at men and women 25 questions about politics. menu more than women. 15 -- women knew more than men and one of them. the reason that the women knew less according to a female professor who is still around -- i'm quoting her peerage she said the reason people know less as

they get their dominant source of news from local news and local news makes you dumber. i didn't say it. she did. and now i hate women. >> laura: this happens to those of us in the public dialogue. you have thick skin though. and i think this is part of the reason you need someone who has been out there in the public eye a lot. to be able to withstand what the incoming is. what did you get that? where did you get that thick skin? >> i think for my mother and my father. my mother said nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission. my dad said democrats want to give you something for nothing and try to -- any and getting nothing for something good my father was thrown out of the house by my mom when he was 13 years old. in athens, georgia, jim crow south, the beginning of the great depression. tough guy. and so was my mom. and i've been called an uncle tom for 30 years. >> laura: i know for justice, so i know the story well. >> coconut, oreo, the

antichrist. i've been called by. that is one of the reasons i think i'm going to be successful when i get up the sacrament of. i'm not going out there to make friends. i'm not afraid of being disliked. in fact i expect to be just like. >> laura: street he showed me where he attended high school he took me to his childhood home and we talked about what impact you can have on the u.s. senate if he were elected. and a lot of people are talking about potential senate retirement on the democrat side. if you are governor, you would have the replacement power question marks because that is right. the governor replaces the senator recently alex was the replacement for kamala harris and i would have that power. and as you well know, we have a 50/50 split in washington, d.c., and if anything were to happen to dianne feinstein she might retire. i would have the ability to replace her and that is one of the reasons the democrats are freaking out. >> laura: we just learned that joe biden is planning to come to this day to campaign for gavin newsom against the recall,

kamala harris arrive on friday. are you worried? >> christmas is coming early here. biden's popularity has never been lower. i think i just red it's at 41% because of the afghanistan debacle. the only major public figure i know of who has praised them has been gavin newsom. so let joe biden come out here and praise the wonderful job that gavin newsom has done on crime, on homelessness, on the rise of gas taxes, on the fact that people are leaving california for the very first time. and on the way he slammed his stay down ignoring science and the most severe way compared to all of the other 49 states. let joe biden defend that record. i welcome that. maybe joe biden can encourage him to debate me. >> laura: coming out, i take you to the tenderloin district in san francisco for that is always been a little bit cdn kind of funky. but now, there are parts that aren't even safe for our cameras to venture into. it's a video you do not want to

desirable and a safe place to live? she is worth hundreds of millions of dollars herself after all. but the reality here is much darker. since 2019, homicides have risen 30%, berger leaves shot up 51%. and homelessness situation, you can't really describe it. you have to see it. same thing with drug abuse. rampant. so i went down to the tenderloin district today but i spent some time with some of san francisco's finest police officer is. in the association president tony montoya to see the city's decline firsthand and learn how it is connected to these destructive policies of the d.a. >> a lot of the violent crimes are up because of her policies. the catch and release, swiftest revolving door in the criminal justice system where it is -- it's a small group of people committing these crimes again and again and they are doing so because they realize as long as she is in office, there are no

consequences with the bad behavior. there is people laying all over the place. just a minute ago where this white van is parked there was a gentleman sitting on the sidewalk in broad daylight with kids playing on the playground smoking crack cocaine. right here by the police department. >> laura: so the police station is here. and crack cocaine as they are. >> 30 feet away. >> laura: wow and they do so knowing that for some reason if they were to get caught there is going to be zero consequences for their behavior. >> laura: zero consequences for smoking crack 25 yards from the police and 25 yards from the school. >> it's kind of a downward spiral. not from lack of resources. san francisco spends nearly 1 billion with a b dollars per year for all the different nonprofit and services they offer to these people. but some people just don't want the help. >> laura: if i want to do by

about why these problems persist. >> a lot of wonderful things are happening. you can get a free meal. you can also get housing. but we need permanent housing for folks down here in the tenderloin due to the coronavirus. >> laura: and they even had their own thoughts about sending billions overseas and there is so much suffering here at home. >> how can i help -- when i people right here that need help. spoon do you think we should be continuing to have all these foreign wars in afghanistan? >> no, we need to start taking care of home. >> laura: so have enormous propolis problem with homilist off exponentially worse. >> continues to get worse. as i pointed out, the open drug market, more people died last year of fennel overdoses and they did of covid virus. and a lot of that has to do with

one of the many victims of this diaz insane policies. back in december, her home was burglarized by a parolee. her young son was on the other side of the window as a suspect tried to break end. he stole more than $30,000 with of items including a computer, laptop, high-end camera, even a power washer. joining me now is venture capitalists sign on. i try to capture what i could but the time we had. and your heart breaks and you get angry at the same time because you keep saying but for the grace of god go i. these people made one wrong decision and they end up living on the streets. obviously the policies in place aren't working and as you experience, crime is off the charts. what does america need to understand about this d.a. and his policy? >> the crime is off the charts and he constantly gets in front of us telling us and repeating

this chant over and over again that crime is down. and of course it is down because he is down charging crime introducing things to misdemeanors and not charging. and like the officers had earlier comments or a revolving door. i just found out that the person that berger lies me home invasion is considered a violent offense and they going to down charge his offense to the cost of what was stolen out of my house rather than entering my home. and i find that boggling because basically not only do we have a sign above our city that says everything is free you can go to walgreens and take $950 worth of stuff. they were also saying you can now enter private home and establishment and take anything without any sort of repercussion. so he was facing six years for what he did and now i am lucky if he will get six months. >> laura: wasn't your friend justice burger burglarized

venice beach is vastly improved since our last visit. l.a. county sheriff alex villa nueva who grew tired of watching the expanding encampments. he took matters into his own hands and cleared the beach. >> they took over and we started getting inundated with calls, emails, and in the video started popping up on youtube and just the sheer horror. i talked to her deputy and i say let's go down there. how bad could it be? and it was as bad as it was promise. >> venice residents like mark are pleased with the progress. >> i credit him for having an embarrassed mayor and embarrass the council member to the point that they moved up whatever they were going to do here by a year or two. they moved a lot of people, they got them into shelters. >> assaults drop down to almost nothing. >> has this scattered that homeless population into the neighborhoods question mike's

>> we had tooth apps on my block because of this thief on police effort and at least 300 officers. the result is that we don't have presence. >> what do you make of this anti-camping ordinance that has been passed, signed, it is going to be enforced in september. will that clean up the rest of the problem as you see it? >> no, because we do not have the personnel to do it. the city just stopped overnight cleanups and they cut the funding to the department of sanitation. >> the city has laws that were in place. they removed the laws. they handcuff the police and then they wonder why there are encampments anywhere. these are some geniuses. so by handcuffing the l.a.p.d., the only solution is regulating public space. >> see you're not convinced this camping ordinance is not going to work. >> not at all. it takes an active converse

branch of the state government. who runs the executive branch? the governor. so why is this the method is? that's on his shoulders like the rest of the city on garcetti's shoulders, the city councilman, the board of supervisors. the solutions are there but there is no political will to do the obvious. >> sheriff illinois that believes there could be political consequences for the on going crisis. speak of the recall not just of newsom, of gascon, of others is a referendum on homelessness and lawlessness. that's where the referendum is going to be at. every person is going to vote based on the garbage dump around the corner. the encampments everywhere. that is what the recall is on. it's a referendum on the performance in office. and right now it has been horrible. spewing up next, it's not just a runaway crime in the

>> laura: california used to be the promised land for the middle class but now high taxes, high crime, rampant homelessness, drug abuse, insane covid mandates, and a democrat ruling class who don't give a damn at all. it's no wonder the governor is facing a recall. among those punished, the small business owner. i spoke to one in san francisco who is a message for anyone thinking of setting up shop there. >> it is so unbusiness friendly here. very regulative. you need a permit for everything. taxes are extreme. >> laura: why are you staying here? >> it's a good question. >> laura: one of the most wrenching covid regulations in the country. it's a vaccine mandate for gins, bars, restaurants. essentially anywhere where you can take a mask off. natural immunity, by the way, does not work here. so we decided to talk to the owner of crossfit golden gate, a gin here and find out how this has impacted them.

officials are saying this vaccine mandate is necessary to keep everyone in san francisco safe. and you say? >> i don't feel the mandate makes this business saver. we are dealing with a public health crisis so boosting your immunity, getting cardiovascular stimulation, eating healthy, it seems like it should be a focus, not alienating unvaccinated people from going to jim's. you can go to krispy kreme and mcdonald's but you can't go to to? >> laura: how you determine authenticity knowing that there is a huge market for phony cards question mike's pico i wondered if the city is doing it for optics because must know there is no way near my staff are going to be able to discriminate a fake card from a real card. >> laura: what is happened to your business from before covid from december 2019 to today? >> my business has been absolutely decimated. i've been running this gym for

nine years. i thought as a i thought my future was finished. i'm not exaggerating when i say i lost 90% of my members. now that we are open, they're not coming back, they left. the space is pretty huge. i i've pretty decent ventilation. i ate a lot of space and i am not allowed to be in here with one on one clients for most of last year. in fact, i spoke with the city attorney who told me can i have my bubble in the gym with me working out question mike and she said you are not even supposed to be using your own gym. i can believe it. you want me to pay $14,000 rent and i'm not allowed to use my own space? you pay for the rent. >> laura: does not feel like america to you question mike >> it certainly does not. i would like the right to earn a living to feed myself. this is not what i signed up for

when i started business. >> laura: with on nancy pelosi at a big fund-raiser in napa and they are mask less and having fun at picnic tables. what do you think about that? speak at one of the big problems i have is they are not following their own rules the private sector to following rules that they aren't. there is clearly a lot of politics at play and i feel like that i am being used as a pond. >> laura: she told us the extreme covid mandates are not her only problem. patrons don't want even to come to this neighborhood anymore because of homelessness and drug abuse. >> have a friend who is month on the corner right here in broad daylight. it feels lawless. people do not feel safe in the city. it is not a media ploy. >> laura: who is to blame? >> is in been in effect from prop 47. smaller criminals lists dominic -- people know they can get away

with an. >> laura: how has affected business in general in that area? >> severely. i have bars in my window. i keep them closed all day long. i don't want anyone smashing the windows. if those windows get smashed, i do pay to fix appeared >> laura: what is having on here? >> this parking lot is used by the shuttle service peered historically, the use to keep my keep these gates open but their parking lot was getting used as a toilet and an injection site so they close the gates not just overnights but during the day when they are not coming in and out as you can see there is a significant amount of needles and stuff on the ground there. >> laura: how can we restore california to what it was the 1980s or even into the early 1990s? how can we do i? final thoughts on that when we return. decide the future of california. can they turn it around? just because you may not live in california does not mean you should not care about it or he does not impact you. it does. this date use to be everybody's dream. i remember first going there in the 1980s. i've talked about that. incredible place to live. fair-minded leadership. but the democrats have driven into the ground. and soon, that can be your state if the wrong people keep getting into office. so voters need to stand up. don't worry about party affiliations. think common sense before it is too late. californians are getting a voice right now and make sure that you get your vote in if you are a resident there as soon as possible. the selection is not just about recalling newsome, it's about making your lives and your children's lives better in the long run. you don't want your kids stepping over needles in the streets like i was were having to walk through an area racked with crimes, wracked with violence. it's no way to live. so make your voices heard. that is that for us tonight.
