can never forget. even the world knew this wasn't an accident. the greatest country in the world was under attack. a plane crashed into the pentagon. and in shanksville, pennsylvania americans fought back against the hijackers. the twin towers collapses. one of the most iconic skylines in the world were changed forever and so was our world. we were at war. >> we have a tragic alert for you. an incredible plane crash into the world trade center at the lower tip of manhattan. >> the pentagon, the heart of our military. >> united flight 93 was taken over my courageous passengers

and crashed into the ground in shanksville, pennsylvania. they heard the words, "let's roll." >> today our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. victims were in airplanes, in their offices. these acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation inokay os and retreat -- into chaos and retreat. but they failed. our country is strong.

[♪♪♪] jesse: joining me to reflect, former nypd commissioner bernie kerik and retired lieutenant

--jerry boykin. commissioner kerik, you experienced it all. your thoughts after 20 years. >> the pain, age every and frustration. it never goes away. never dissipates, diminishes. there was a time that i was extremely pleased. you know, it's funny, jesse. i was at the base of tower 2 when the second plane slammed into the building. i was in my car when the president called us before we knew we were going into afghanistan. what bothers me today, less than two weeks ago just before the

20th anniversary we basically surrendered afghanistan and gave it back to the taliban. all that footage you just showed about the taliban, the confrontations, it's pretty upsetting and disgusting. jesse: it's upsetting, disgusting and very emotional for anyone who watches those images even to this day. general boykin, taking the fight to the enemy meant the u.s. mass not experienced another terror attack since 9/11. but after what we have seen, that could change. >> i think you are right. >> i think we had no alternative to do what we did under the bush leadership. we had to go in and fight back.

we let too many of these attacks go unpunished, i guess. the bombing of the cole and that type of thing. we mad not done everything we could to try to deter future terrorism. but i will tell you as far as i'm concerned, i agree with bernie, i think that the fact that we pulled out of afghanistan after 20 years in a dishonorable way. it was not an honorable departure. dishonorable way. that we have lost a lot of allies. but more importantly we encouraged the terror network around the world because the message they are getting is the great say -- the great say the great satin hasbeen brought.

jesse: you were an army ranger? afghanistan. you saw the enemy up close face to face. that's what it was it was kill or be killed. and a lot of people don't understand that. >> we went into this determined with objectives every night on the battlefield. those on patrol each and every day. you had missions you were going out setting yourself and brothers and sisters alongside you on a path to accomplish or as they say you are coming home on your shield or as a victor. we went out that way each and every night. lost friends, lost brothers. saw them come home without their eyesight or burned across massive percentages of their bodies. or missing limbs to have their family be handled a folded flag.

we didn't go out with the same determination. nobody can say america left afghanistan unintimidated as they went in on september 12 of 2001. september 12 of 2021, they are just as unintimidated. nobody can say that because of the leaders that liken themselves as rulers right now that chose the method to remove us from afghanistan. jesse: the sloppy and dumb departure cost us a huge propaganda victory to the jihadists. i want to give everybody 20-30 seconds. the most important lesson bernard kerik is what? >> don't let people into this country that want the demise of this country. i fear the 200,000 afghans the biden administration is allowing

to come in. jesse: i agree. immigration is critical in fighting the war on terror. you can't get around that. even if we are surrounded by oceans. general, your key takeaway from 9/11. >> don't underestimate your adversary. i think that's exactly what we did. they are coming back. don't think of them as a 7th century organization. they are more sophisticated than we give them credit for. jesse: they are sophisticated and armed to the teeth. we gave them billions in our latest weapons. >> we'll fight for it, sacrifice for it, and die for it, but we'll never surrender for it. up to this point we never would. we have an administration now that holds the white flag of

surrender. the rest of america knows how we fight. jesse: it's an honor having you here on "watters' world" on the anniversary of 9/11. after 9/11 the vicious left vilified america instead of uniting behind our great nation and these despicable attacks. >> you think they know where osama bin laden is and it's hands off? >> absolutely. >> why? >> because he's funded by their friends in saudi arabia. >> i don't believe in al qaeda or the bogeyman. >> you don't think osama bin laden knocked down the towers? >> absolutely not. >> the airplane hit the building. >> radical christianity is just as threatening as radical islam. >> americans are puzzled why so

many people in the world hate us. it might be better if we figured out how to behave as a nation in a way that wouldn't make so many people in the world want to kill us. jesse: joining us, the former advisor to donald trump, stephen miller. the commentary from the left could be even more widespread. in your opinion, where does this come from? >> that's an important question. it comes from the idea that started back in the 60s and 70s with the marxist left about the idea of america as an evil, colonial, imperial power. that idea has become mainstreamed inside of the progressive movement. we all remember after 9/11 when there was a segment of the american left that said we

brought it on ourselves. it was twisted, it was difficuls demented, it was insane, but they said it. i vividly remember the anti-american propaganda that swept through my cool from teachers and people in the administration, and some of the students as well. now we are seeing that same kind of anti-american propaganda take root through critical race theory as an example. here is why it matters so much. because if we don't teach our young people to love our country, if we don't teach our young people that america is a righteous nation, we'll not be able to maintain the defense of our nation. we'll grow apathetic to our security, and our sovereignty

and our borders. that alone will make it possible for enemies to defeat us. jesse: that's exactly right. i was reminded of that unity today. this morning went to starbucks to get some coffee with my daughter. as we were waiting for the coffees to come. the barista yells, 8:46:00 a.m. right now is when the first plane hit the trade center. let's have a moment of silence. everybody in the starbucks, about black, white, rich, poor. stopped, put our head down and we were silent for about 30 seconds. you forget about that type of unity we had 0 years ago. there was less racial animosity, less political division. people loved police. they went up to officers and

shook their hands. we need to get back to that. >> we won't survive if we don't. if we keep letting the left tear us apart by race, device us against law enforcement, divide us against our own history and heritage, this country won't survive. our own youth won't care enough to protect it and defend it. when the propaganda coming from our enemies. there is a striking resemblance to the propaganda being taught in almost every major school district in america. if we don't do something about it. shame on us. stand up for it in our schools and places of government, stand up for it in our communities. if we don't love this country and those who protect and defend it, this experiment won't last long.

jesse: joe biden and donald trump face off on 9/11 right back.

>> the american people thought it was time to get out of afghanistan. but they didn't like the way we got out. but it's hard to explain to anybody, how else could you get out. i watch the speeches and not one person spoke about the fact that three days ago we fled afghanistan and left americans behind and others too. and $85 billion worth of the best equipment ever made. a 5-year-old said the military goats out last. they couldn't believe we were leaving. he went to all three blazes, he went to the pentagon, went to pennsylvania. he came here.

and he didn't speak. jesse: president biden use a 9/11 photo-op. he got heckled. he didn't really speak. he released a prerecorded video. he paid tribute to the nypd and called out biden for failing in afghanistan as you just heard. joining me now, retired captain and u.s. senate kad candidate sean parnell. and lara trump. we know joe blew it with the withdrawal and didn't have the stomach to speak live on the 20th anniversary as commander-in-chief and threw up a diversion with the vax mandate a few days ago. not sitting well with the american people. how do you see it?

>> it doesn't sit well with me either. today was a day we needed to hear from the president of the united states. 20 years ago today we remember where we were. we remember how life changed forever. for some reason today i personally founding myself more impacted than i have been on previous years. there was something very special about today. it was the day to hear from the president of the united states whether you voted for him or not. it was a real shame joe biden didn't address america in a live speech. he's doing everything possible to distract americans from the complete and total disaster that was the withdrawal he directed from afghanistan. we know there are americans left behind. we opened up a pandora's box of terrorist activity in the middle east. and when you hear general mark milley say it's not a question of if but when we are attacked

on american soil once again by terrorists? today is the day it really reminds you just how horrific that can be. jesse: i got chills all day. sean, this was supposed to be a big day for the biden presidency. because he wanted this photo-op today, he booted the exit and now we are faced with god knows what, and no one trusts this guy anymore. the commander-in-chief. >> how many times do i have to say this? president trump is exactly right. joe biden every step of the way has gotten the afghan withdrawal totally incorrect. i just turned 40 in july. i have been out front with president trump saying time to draw down in that country. we have been in a war in afghanistan for half of my life.

but it didn't have to map like this. a 5-year-old as president trump says, knows this. who takes the military out of a country you know you are withdrawing from before american citizens and your allies. he closed bagram rare field. on the -- airfield. on the way out he killed an aid work and entire family and had the -- had the gall to trot out to the podium and say this was a success. joe biden basically installed a terrorist super state in one of the most rugged hostile places on the planet. the haqqani network, al-qaeda, they are all running the show in afghanistan and joe biden owns all of it. he's trying to normalize

relations with the taliban and these terrorists on the anniversary of 9/11. it's a slap in the face for everybody who fought for this country. jesse: he says we have such a great business-like relationship with the taliban. he doesn't have a good relationship with half of the country. sean and lara, thank you so much. newt gingrich next.

jesse: the collapse of joe biden, the failures just keep piling up. the afghanistan withdrawal was a total catastrophy. he promised not to strand americans but he did. now he asks to negotiate with terrorists just to get our people out. he blew up a meeting with family members who stormed out distraught. he promised to shut down the virus this summer only to see another surge. he declared war on americans punishing the unvaksd with a

mandate. >> none of them were shouting or complaining. every one of them were thanking me as fit was something special. i mean this sincerely, that i was here. >> you leave americans behind. we'll leave you behind. you guys who protected him. we'll leave you guys behind. jesse: the border is completely out of control. so far fiscal year 2021. 1.3 million illegals tried to cross the border and that's just ones we tried to find stout about. around the country in the cities

shootings are up. the awful august jobs report another big miss. the economy should be rebounding much stronger. inflation is killing people thanks to biden breaking the bank. inflation was the highest it's been in 13 years. gas, feed, chicken. biden's approval ratings down 10 points from april. now a new report saying white house staffers turn off or mute their tvs when joe is speak because they are worried he's going to mess up. and they should be because he's been messing up a lot. he's confused, telling lies. clearly he's not the one calling the shots. >> i want to thank the former general. i keep calling him general. the guy who runs that outfit over there. >> i'm sorry i will get in trouble with staff if i don't do

this the right way. congresswoman, is this your district. it's craig's. imposed to stop and walk out of the room here. jesse: joining me former speaker of the house and fox news contributor and author of the new book, "beyond biden." mr. newt gingrich. are we looking at the beginning of a failed presidency? >> i think beyond doubt. what you have is a president who i think ted cruz captured when he said he has the radicalism of george mcgovern and incompetence of jimmy carter wrapped into one. the daily mail ran a headline that says biden declares war on 80 million americans. i thought that captured it. this is truly insane. that's every fourth american.

how do you go out as a president of the united states, deliberately divide your country, condemn you're own people. he says nice things about the taliban, they are efficient, they are courteous, they are getting the job done, we can rely on them. then he attacks americans. which on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 is the opposite of what you would expect. you would think he would be anti-taliban and pro american. i don't know if there is any easy way to get out of it because the world is closing in on him. jesse: he's perceived as weak so now he's mr. tough guy with covid. he's taking out this anger on the american people and fighting them harder than he fought the chinese or taliban it's a divide and conquer strategy. it sets him up see when covid

naturally goes down, he will take credit for it. is that the strategy? >> i think that's part of the strategy. they face the reality that they had about as many covid cases in a year where they had vaccines as trump did in an entire year where he did not have any vaccines. so they have not made any progress biden promised us in the campaign. i think they are enormously frustrated. but i think it goes deeper than that. you have to recognize biden resents the american people. he resents their independence. he resents their concern about the border way they are not supposed to talk about. and he resents their anger over afghanistan. every time he turns around he feels snubbed and betrayed. he thought everybody would love him and he would be uncle joe.

that's not what's going on. i think they are about to face in congress a real crisis. they have a big government socialist bill of $3.5 trillion. they just had the second bad month in a row of producer price inflation. more than 2/3 of all americans think it's crazy to increase spending at a time of inflation. it just drives prices up. i will be curious to see the democrats come back from this period. and what they heard from home. because a lot of it is very negative. jesse: the guy was handed a vaccine and recovering economy. he booted both. now he's taking it out on the american people. if he doesn't get the 3.5 trillion thing done he's toast. that's all they have. if they don't spend their way out of this jam, they will have

nothing. it's shaping up to be a bloodbath in the mid-term. his only tool to use is cracking down on the mass unvaxxed as a way to excuse his own incompetence. i will give you the last word. >> he's totally hypocritical. they said the 640,000 members of the postal unions don't have to be vaccinated. explain why that makes any sense? these are people who go around to the entire country. they don't have to be vaccinated. and the illegal immigrants don't have to be vaccinated. the people coming out of afghanistan don't have to be vaccinated. but if you are a normal every day american joe biden is coming for you. that won't work in a free society, that means we'll come after joe biden. jesse: you can't upset the
