2:00 pm
they've got the dosing right. the only thing not proved yet is the fda is a slow process. they sent more data today as i understand it. i'm perplexed as to why the white house is not employed a full time chief of the fda in the middle of the pandemic because that's the leadership we need right now. >> neil: thank you, dr. kevin campbell following all of that. here comes "the five." >> jesse: hello. i'm jesse waters along with john rich, dana pa reno, and dan bongino. it's 5:00 in new york city and this is "the five." president biden has a big problem when it comes to the truth about getting out of afghanistan. top generals testifying today on capitol hill directly contradicting a key claim made by the commander in chief. all three military leaders say they warned biden to leave thousands of troops in the
2:01 pm
country to avoid a can at the trophy, but he didn't listen. and then, he claimed it didn't happen. >> i recommended that we maintained 2005 level troops in afghanistan. >> my assessment back in the fall of '20 that we should keep a steady state of 2500 maybe bouncing up to 35 you recollects will, something like that. >> the input was received by the president and considered by the president. >> nobody told you -- your military advisors didn't say, no, you should keep 2500 troops, it's been stable for the last several year, we can continue to do that. >> no, no said that to me that i can recall. >> jesse: while president bide season calling how he left afghanistan a, quote, extraordinary success, general milley said the rest of the world doesn't see it that way. >> our credibility with allies around the world and with adversaries is being reviewed to see which way this is going to
2:02 pm
go. and i think the damage is one word that could be used. >> jesse: what about accountability? if you think some heads should roll for this fiasco, think again. >> senator, as a senior military officer, resigning is a really serious thing. it's a political thing if i'm resigning in protest. doesn't have to make those decisions just because we're generals. and it would be an incredible act of political defiance for a commissioned officer to just resign because my advice is not taken. >> jesse: so the big thing we learned today, dana, among other things is biden was told by all of the military leaders to leave a few thousand guys in there to make sure it's calm. he ignored them. and then told the american people a lie about what he was recommended. >> dana: i remember he did that interview with george stephanopoulos and he said, nobody told me that, and he said, not that i recall. i thought, well, one, that's not true because we've been seeing
2:03 pm
if months nevin the trump administration that the military was suggesting leaving a small force there. that was increasingly so in the spring this year in april of 2021, the decision was being made, the president made it in april -- beginning of april, 2021. and thought, well, we hope that turns out the be true. of course, it didn't. that's the headline that came out today. now, it's okay if a commander in chief wants to get briefed and go in a different direction and make a different decision. he's the decider. but what he did was say, i made a decision but based not on something they told me and now they're contradicting him. i wouldn't want to be in their shoes today. they have to defend a failure they know was partly because biden didn't take their advice. and they don't want to completely throw the commander in chief under the bus. but then the other piece, when senator in-hoff said we have no
2:04 pm
counterterrorism on the ground, m illey said it was a statistical success but a failure. it's hard to spin leaving all of our interpreters and americans behind as a logistical success. who are the people they got out? not the people they were supposed to help. >> jesse: right. milley we learn suicide a huge leaker, dan. he is talking to everybody in the media, all of these authors. here's senator marsha blackburn asking what the general has been doing this whole time instead of planning the afghanistan withdraw. he's been talking to about a half dozen reporters. listen. >> general mille yshg, yes or no to this, did you talk to costa or wood ward about their book. >> wood ward, yes, costa, no. >> did you talk to michael bender for his book, "is frankly
2:05 pm
we did win this election, the inside story of how trump lost. >> yes. >> and were you accurately represented in these books? >> i haven't read any of the books. so i don't think. >> jesse: buying that, dan? >> dan: i mean, really? you didn't read the book. so he spent all of the time talking. milley looks like a guy that not only reads the book. a couple of stunning moments there. hawley got him good. they got him to acknowledge it. you uh guys left americans behind. cut the crap. there are americans there right now. stop saying you didn't leave americans behind. you did, admit it. apologize profusely. get them out, do your thing. he did something in the hearing, a lot of people didn't catch it. i don't know how they missed it. he said two entirely contradictory things. he's talking about the call to china which he claims now has been misrepresented, we'll see, where he spoke to the chinese
2:06 pm
communist party and usurped the role of the commander in chief and basically said, i was there to defuse the situation. so he didn't misinterpret anything. that's not his job. i mean, if the commander in chief's role is to be strategically misinterpreted, that's a strategy. you may not like it, but that's not his job. but later on, did you catch it. he's in the decision-making chain there, no big deal. later on when asked about the decision to withdraw from bagram, he passed the buckment. i'm not a decision maker, i'm a conduit. are you a conduit or decision maker? surprised no one caught it. two contradictory things. >> greg: another contradiction. he doesn't talk to anybody about the conversations he had with the president. that's how he got out of the today.
2:07 pm
>> the one thing that did come out of it that you mentioned that was reported, they're going to have a written recommendation that the brass was going to have to the white house. it was in writing. they asked for that. once they get it in their hands, it's explosive. >> we'll wait to see what it is.
2:08 pm
i will remind everyone at the table, we got it in the audience that bob menendez, a strong ally of president biden who is leading the charge on trying to get the information. to dana's point about milley saying, logistic success, he was saying how dire the circumstances were when biden said we are leaving in two weeks. what can you get done in that amount of time? i thought to dan's point about the call to china, the reason he wasn't usurping the commander in chief's power is because mark asberger told him to do it. >> dan: not the january call. you're talking about two separate calls. >> the china call. >> dan: those are two separate calls. i think there was a november/october call and then january. >> the one he -- >> dan: acting secretary miller said we did not authorize the call. two separate calls. you might be right. but not the second one. >> they asked for one i know he was following the chain of
2:09 pm
command. >> john rich, your thoughts. >> john: an interesting hypocrisy. we know of the man on facebook who called out the superiors, he called out all of them, what are you doing, apologize. tell us why you made this mistake. he's in the brig today. he's in the brig. you saw the most powerful generals in our country effectively calling out biden saying no, no, we told him to do this. but he did that and we don't know why. is that not effectively calling out the president of the united states? they're not in the brig. they've got their jobs. but the young man who called them out is now in handcuffs. so, i don't understand d nature of that but i don't like it. >> one of the reporters can ask joe biden, you saw the hearing, not a lot of agreement. you lied to the american people. any response to that? maybe peter
2:10 pm
doocy. our very own. >> amanda dunaway: there's hearing on the house side. >> up next, liberals and progressive da's blaming, ready, covid for the massive spike in violent crime.
2:11 pm
2:12 pm
2:13 pm
2:14 pm
2:15 pm
>> dan: liberals are blaming covid for a crime surge, shocker. they say the spike in climb is because of the pandemic and the media is eating it up. what about defunding the police, no cash bail, and soft on crime policies. the fbi released new numbers that showed murders soared 30% in 2020. john, blaming covid? isn't this fairly obvious. you let bad guys out of prison, they do bad stuff. >> john: that's how bad guys look at it. you don't have to post bail and you can steal up to this amount
2:16 pm
and nobody is going to say anything about it. that's a bad guy's dream. there is to have a situation like that. but the question is, why on earth would you want your town to be like that? like the people in charge who are making the decisions, why are they putting us in that position. and the only thing i can think of, you called it, mainly liberal cities out there. what's the thought process? they want destruction, chaos, these things? why? so they can have more control over their town? maybe the wilder it gets, the more they can clamp down. that's the only reason i can find it. if you ran your house hold. if i told my kids, now you can do whatever you want and you're never in trouble. there would be no house when i came back home. there has to be consequences if you're going to commit crime and all of the regular people who live in these towns, they're trying to escape. >> dan: dana, i don't want to put you on the spot. you're the most sober panelist.
2:17 pm
>> dana: i'm not drunk. >> dan: yeah, no intoxicants. they know what works. the policing, the giuliani area, then get rid of that and crime goes up. is this a deliberate play for votes and who's voting for this? >> dana: i saw a story, oh, the crime is up because of covid, not because of policies that have led to it. i said we should do it on "the five" because for a long time, they would point to us -- they would find some way to protect liberal decision makers, and now it's covid. but the main number that's up is shooting. if you take new york city, it's 97% increase. are we to believe that all of these perks all of a sudden were let go from their work and then started to shoot people? if you look, it is gang members and that activity and also what you just mentioned, no cash bail, the prosecutors are lax, basically they're like we're not really going to prosecute on that law. you can skate on those types of things. and i believe that the police
2:18 pm
are starting to feel like the border patrol does, right? they're demeaned and disparaged. they feel they can't do their jobs. so they pull back. what happens when you pull back? everybody comes in. >> dan: jesse, same question. is this deliberate? 9 out of 10 cities where the spike is happening are led by overwhelmingly liberal politicians, this is not a statistical accident here. >> jesse: i'm upset you don't think i'm the most sober analysist, come on, dan. >> dana: maybe -- >> jesse: thank you, dana. >> dan: my dad loves you. he doesn't watch my show. he watches your show. he watches mine on dvr on saturday night. >> dana: your dad and his mom ought to have a chat. >> jesse: let's not encourage liberals to get together and talk. the democrats do nothing wrong, dan. not in the cities they run, the borders they control. they're perfect people. and sometimes perfection is misunderstood. so, a simple-minded person like
2:19 pm
myself would see the democrats empty the prisons, defund the police, bail out the shooters and the looters. while at the same time taking the police off of the streets and say, wow, that would create a spike in homicide. but, no, no. the china virus, dan. and that's actually encouraging. it's the one thing that democrats have blamed on china. so maybe that's a start. and if it is the pandemic that's caused this spike in homicide, did the spike in homicide occur in all of the other countries in the world? well, good thing i checked, john rich, because i spent all afternoon looking at murder rates throughout the world. and murder rates have gone down in mexico, colombia, russia, japan, australia, flat in india. the united states is the only country that has seen historic rise in 2020 in murder. maybe it has something to to with defunding the police. i'm not so sure. >> dan: i come to you last. i need an explanation. this can't be accurate if you
2:20 pm
believe in data. nine out of the ten cities are run by liberals where the spike is happening. they did research and determined the lockdowns happened around the country and the spike in murders again was only in areas dominated by liberal politicians. it's obviously not true. it's something to do with the politics, not covid. >> dana: not sure that it has to do necessarily with the politics. two things are important. one, jesse, all of the countries you read, they don't have a rampant gun problem like the united states of america have. >> people can still kill you with a knife. >> but they're not. >> jesse: go down to colombia. >> i lived in l.a. where people got knifed all the time. nothing close to the murder rate. the data we're talking about is 2020. those are the trump years. all of the blaming on president biden that's happening now, the murder rate has even gone down. another component of the fbi data that the short term increases were all regions, not just liberal cities.
2:21 pm
all regions, that means places where conservatives are. it can't just all be bail reform, defund the police, yadda, yadda. the murder rate overall is lowest since 1990. conservatives say, we've never seen anything like it. >> the fbi was screaming. >> dan: seriously, on the trump point. are you seriously suggesting that when trump during the crime wave after the george floyd incident there offered to send in the fed and national guard to the liberal cities to stem the crime wave is this was trump's fault. >> i'm suggesting. >> dan: isn't that weird? >> let me answer the question. it's not weird. this is biden's america. play all of the ads, this is what's going on in biden's america. this is what happened in trump's america. he oversaw the majority of the pandemic because people have been vaccinated since president biden was in office. it's important to point it out. >> dan: in liberal cities.
2:22 pm
>> not just liberal cities. >> dan: nine out of ten. >> of the top places because there's a higher concentration of people. but there are regions all over this country. >> dan: but nine out of ten were liberal cities. >> jesse: yeah, most of the murder is taking place in the liberal cities. >> admit i'm right. >> dana: murder is bad wherever it happens. >> dan: nine out of ten are liberal cities. it's nine out of ten. >> they heard you. >> dan: nine out of ten. just throwing that in there. red states are fighting back as migrants sporting biden t-shirts head to our border. really? that happened? biden t-shirts?
2:23 pm
2:24 pm
2:25 pm
2:26 pm
2:27 pm
>> fl going to stop catch and release, another massive group of migrants, some 20,000 strong getting ready to head to the u.s. while the white house said the border is closed, the migrants are saying otherwise. >> i would like to send a message for biden, because haiti more difficult. >> will you go back to haiti? >> no, no. never, never. never. >> so many ironic things going on in our countril right now. we say we want people to come to the country because of humanity. these people come from rough places around the world. i travelled around, we all have, we've seen it. and we empathize with where we are. but the way this is set up at the border right now is anything other than humane. you're luring them across the border thinking they can come on in, which they can. what happens in the meantime, child trafficking, fentanyl coming in by the bail as we would say right now.
2:28 pm
women being raped and assaulted as they come across and they're willing to give all that up and put themselves in a danger to have a shot at america. we're not handling it correctly. we see the carnage continue to go on. it's heart breaking. how do you view what's going on. >> dan: you brought up irony, tragedy. fentanyl, women being abused, kids being trafficked. i thought the most tragic was the day they closed the legal border in del rio, the port of entry in the bridge to legal people who come here to work, cross the border and truckers. that was closed because 20,000 people decided to enter illegally who ironically got in before the legal truckers got in. they didn't open the check points for weeks later. for a second, process this. horse blinders for a minute. people walked up to our fictitious -- there's no southern border. please, stop the nonsense. you walked up and got in quicker
2:29 pm
than a trucker who works for a living with the global entry pass. he had to wait two weeks and drive down the road to another port of entry. >> you're penalized for doing it correctly. >> dan: why do it correctly? just walk in. what's the point? >> friends of mine who built businesses here, nobody hates illegal immigration more than legal migrants. they hate it more than anybody. dana, do you have any stories than folks you know. >> dana: great example. he came here, he did it legally. it took years. he's an educated person. we have resources. we have -- we have internet access. we could go through -- i could call up the congressman and they could take my call. and that's how we were able to do the system. and i remember saying to peter at one point, you imagine why people do this illegally. we're educated people. and it's completely difficult for us to figure out. so the legal immigration system
2:30 pm
is -- needs attention, desperately. and all of this illegal activity is making increases in legal immigration much, much harder. i also believe that there's something we need to -- we need to remember. the criticism from the left about obama as deporter in chief and now biden as somebody they think is horrendous that he spent some of the young people -- the single men back to haiti, they think that is like human rights violations. so, where we have a thought of like we should have a legal order -- we need to understand, like they're being pulled into completely different direction and one of the things is president biden when he campaigned, he was the moderate guy, return to normal. everything is going to be calm. but, if you look at some of the policies that he's put forward and then the legislative initiatives, he has moved left. so, watch this space pretty closely. >> john: jesse, american
2:31 pm
citizenship, the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, these are things that you earn. these are things that our forefathers have earned. all of the men and women have died to keep those rights alive. does the world want those things? yes, they do. they don't have those things, the right to pursue happiness. they don't have the right to do anything, that's why they want to come here. but it's unfair to the people who do it correctly. how do we explain it to migrants who come in here and go through the paperwork like dana said. >> dana: nobody knows happiness more than you, john rich. you are a beacon. >> john: that is right. >> jesse: i found it ironic that the illegal immigrant was wearing a biden/harris t-shirt. i haven't seen abamerican wear one of those. that's the first time. >> dan: i have. you can't put it on television. >> jesse: right. the fcc. this is why the biden game is so stupid. they went out and said, the border is closed. then they go on fox news sunday
2:32 pm
with wallace and say, you know all of those haitians that were down at that tent city, we let 12,000 of them in. we flew 4,000 back to haiti. they bit our agents on the flight. but we let 12,000 in. i'm not great at math. that's why i'm here on fox. but that's what, 2/3 of the border is open according to those statistics. that's why people keep coming. and now there's another caravan, 16,000 strong forming in panama coming up through colombia and guatemala and into mexico. nobody is stopping these caravans. wasn't harris supposed to go down there and get to the bottom of the root causes. whatever happened to mr. diplomat, joe biden? he hasn't stopped a damn thing. all of the people here are supposed to report to a court date? they're not going to report? they're going to flee and he's not going to deport them. you can commit assault. you can as an illegal haitian hit jesse waters in the head with a baseball bat and joe
2:33 pm
biden won't deport you under his own rules. probably give that guy a congressional medal of honor. >> john: nobody can look at del rio, texas and go, wow, that's great. nobody likes that. i don't care what your politics are. that's inhumane the position they're in. so why don't we close the border? >> well, they have moved very quickly to get those 30,000 people that were under the bridge -- that took, what, two days in the end once it started to get. >> they let people in. they let people in, jessica? you say closed border? there is no 30,000. >> i understand that. i wanted to say that president obama finally weighed in on this. he hasn't said anything for a long time. jay johnson, a dhs secretary talked about it. he finally said, it's time to do something and he brought back up comprehensive immigration reform which both sides pay lip service too. i wonder if him weighing in. i carry a biden/harris bag.
2:34 pm
you see it every day. come downtown. you see biden swag everywhere. >> jesse: i don't go downtown. they don't like me down there. >> dan: it has the wrong word in front of biden. >> john: facebook is under fire for covering up how toxic the platform is for kids. it's toxic, all right.

2:39 pm
defending the effort and says it will re-evaluate and focus on team safety. breaking today, the company formed a team to study preteens and set a three-year goal to create a product for what they called an untapped audience. dana, does any of it surprise you? >> dana: a couple of things, like, one, i understand companies wanting to appeal to a market. and a kid's market. if you -- if you watch saturday morning cartoon, do they still have those? but remember back then when those days -- you're younger. you remember. saturday morning cartoons whachlt were the commercials? all from the things that you would want. and, so, i understand the company and capitalism and desire to try to reach a market. i understand that social media can be toxic. if you look at that dear evan hanson movie, the musical is coming out. we know this causes problems. i do not think facebook is
2:40 pm
responsible for body issues for women. as a girl, i would hear about those things. you saw it -- at that time, it was the women's magazines. they were blamed for it. that's an underlying issue. but i also think that parents are having such a hard time anyway dealing with screen time. and in a way, you look at facebook -- maybe they were dragged kicking and screaming into a decision to put this -- this on hold. but they were responsive. and maybe at this point, they'll say, well, we don't need do that right now. the alternative is kids will be on regular instagram. because they're going to be on instagram. or wherever else it might be tiktok, or something like that. >> where they might do research on them. you have a daughter, dan, does she have these? >> dan: it's complicated. i'm talking about libertarianism, i tell my daughter, you're not responsible enough to take a picture. i was in the gym working out,
2:41 pm
shocker. this guy in the gym spent an hour working out and 45 minutes taking selfies of himself, right? there's a geraldo joke here. he's taking selfies of himself the entire time thinking, really, man? this is your whole life? every pose, like this, like that. yeah, so, listen, we're human beings and stuff, but freedom, let the kids figure it out. do better parenting. >> what do you think? >> jesse: i say send kids outside. what happened to go outside and play. >> the murder rate. >> jesse: i tell you, helicopter parents. in the democrat-run cities. so the helicopter parents need to be around, right? they don't want the kids to play outside alone because they're afraid of the pedophile. remember the pedophile fiasco, everyone is afraid. kids are annoying, right? so you take them inside. you don't let them play outside, they're going to drive you crazy. so the helicopters are saying here, take a screen for an hour
2:42 pm
or six so i can get mental clarity and relax. they're on the screens the whole time. the brains get preyed on by the vultures at facebook. there's mostly pedophiles on-line too. it backfired. the kids, it's like an arm's race for superficiality. i know kids are going to go, am i prettier, am i skinnier, how good do i look? it will destroy their self-image. we don't want that. no one cherishes women as much as i do. >> i think one ex-president does cherish women more than you do. now john rich? >> john: these social media sites have more analytics than any company on the face on the earth. they know everything about everything that happens, you know from your dealings with pa pa -- parler and otherwise. for them to react after the report came out? they knew it before it came out.
2:43 pm
if you're a parent and you think social media tech giants care about your kids? they do not care about your kids. a preteen version of that is nothing but a big piece of bait on the hook to throw it out for every nasty varmin in the world saying i'm a preteen. don't kid yourself. they don't care. they want to sell clicks and advertisedment. watch out for that. >> it will be interesting to see what lawsuits come out of that. >> go to the library. >> jesse: or outside. >> john: grab a bb gun. >> okay.

(music) >> dana: welcome back. time for the fastest. first up, at least until we're 30. a new study revealing that the age that americans finally start adulting, that's a verb now, apparently. this includes saving for a home, filing taxes, and sticking to a budget. john, by the time you were 30, i think, you were well on your way. >> john: i had been right out of a high school in a van pulling a

u-haul trailer playing holiday inn lounges across america at that point. i had to know what a p&l was, do my taxes, all that stuff. i was ahead of the game. >> dana: is it fine to become an adult in your 30s. >> it depends on the adult. i was in school for a long time as jesse likes to make fun at me about. i started adulting at 28. but i think it's about your circumstances and it's nice to see, actually, like gen-z's, it will reverse. they're more entrepreneurial. they want to go out in the world. >> dana: surely you think this is bad. >> jesse: i do. you can take out loans and stay in college forever. you don't have to buy a car. you have uber. obama care, you can be on your parents' health insurance until you're 25. homes are expensive. everyone is putting off parents and kids. democrats giving you free money. >> dana: there's more coming. when do you think is a good age to become an adult. >> dan: i think like in the old days, 18, 20. they stuck me out in the
2:49 pm
precinct in brooklyn doing a speed reading adulting course right away. grow up quick or get yourself killed. >> dana: generation x doesn't have a lot of sympathy or empathy. i'm trying. roller skateeking has skyrocketed in popularity. you should see jesse. the demand for skates are so high that buyers are waiting months to score a pair for their own. >> jesse: this is a fake story. i've never seen anyone roller skate. i think someone made this up to get on the fastest. i've seen the electric bikes. that's hot. not roller skates. >> i've seen them on the west side highway. they made it to the pretty park. downtown, you may not have been there. there was a woman snoozing with her skates next to her. >> dana: did you have a skate city in amarillo? >> john: no. the church would go and roller skate in someone's gym. not big enough to make a lap. so you see the kids slamming into the wall over and over. the only reason a guy goes to a
